Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
Shanagirl. Hold my hand tightly tomorrow. I would be scared to death so that’s probably a normal reaction. Here’s hoping they find something with an easy fix. Hugs
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
@shanagirl In your pocket for your bronchoscopy, I am lending my support for you as you wait and then the procedure to see what is needing going forward from there. You being fearful and overwhelmed and telling us how that makes you feel is not complaining, look at me complaining about DB and SIL which is relatively minor. Complaining is I stubbed my toe and going on for days on end, what you are going through is hell and you just need to be able to see the other side. Let us help you.
@cookie54 The steps were only 1000 but I never get that many so it is a start. Still sticking to 5 mins at a time, it is all cumulative. Realistically, I probably will not join a gym but the indoor stuff is still effective because the pace is very quick. May listen to some music to make it more entertaining, listen to a song and march enough for the 500 steps, if song is short, pump my arms faster, feet follow my arm speed. Still thinking about purchasing a treadmill and how that would be done, it would be quite a while, I would need to hire people to bring it in, has to be foldable. Amazon has a few varieties that could work but I have some bills I am paying off, Long time off, sticking to the marching and walking around the house with marching small steps to add to my count.
I had a LOT of beans yesterday with a frozen Mc D burger still in the fridge and a bunch of cheese, it was pretty good. I find the cans are small and could probably be mixed with green or black beans in the future.
Right now am microwaving one of the queso dish meals, I quite enjoy those honestly and not bad as a meal. This evening will make an egg, some beans and a mini pot pie which will be good. The barbecue beans with chipotle are just kind of meh for me, I almost think it would be better for me to season beans. The BBQ meal was finished up but need to stick to the chipotle variety or turn the black beans into chipotle beans at meal time. I also have frozen burgers, chicken dogs and a 3 pack of tube ground beef, I could do a lot with all that.
Ayway, late start, getting my first meal, the queso, intend on doing some laundry, quick vacuum as well and my steps.
I hope the day is good for all and in pockets for anyone who needs me.

Re: Bone Mets Thread
Thanks, @jensgotthis - your reply prompted me to type different words in the google search and this came up:
Yes, it is possible for CA 27-29 markers to temporarily rise at the start of treatment, which can reflect that cancer cells are dying and shedding. This phenomenon, sometimes called a "flare," does not necessarily mean the cancer is progressing. The "flare" phenomenon:
Chemotherapy and other treatments work by killing cancer cells. When a large number of cancer cells are destroyed, they can release a rush of tumor marker proteins into the bloodstream, causing a temporary increase in marker levels. This is a short-term effect and usually occurs within the first 30 to 90 days of starting a new treatment. Therefore, a single, recent CA 27-29 result that is higher than the baseline may be misleading. Oncologists typically do not use an initial increase as an indicator of treatment failure.
It has been 6 months of treatment for me. I look forward to hearing back from my onco about this.
Thank you for the reassurances, @tougholdcrow and @gailmary .

Re: Bone Mets Thread
Sometimes your CA 27.29 markers go up as your cancer is dying also referred to as the cells shedding. Try not to worry. Focus on scans. If you feel new pain that does not resolve within 2 weeks, then go to see your doctor right away.
For those at risk for pathological fracture, I was in the same boat. Cancer had almost eaten through my left acetabulum. Radiation killed the cancer and new bone grew in its place. I did my lifetime dose of Xgeva. I’m just now starting Evenity treatment to try to preserve bone strength as the chemo I did really did a number on my spine and osteoporosis.
