Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer

Hello All - There is so much I want to post to different ones individually, but am just way too exhausted right now, and that is a good part of my question here this morning. Has anybody else felt super tired the day after scans? I had chest, abdomen and pelvis, and bone scans yesterday and I was extra tired in the afternoon after the scans and now I woke up with a bad headache and continued exhaustion. Took my "home vitals" and there is nothing alarming there. Abdomen and pelvis CT and bone scan results are back, but still waiting on chest CT results. From what I can read with my layperson's eye, the results are basically stable but maybe with a couple of questionable things that I will ask the dr about when I see him on Thursday. I can't explain the extra tiredness and headache. I googled and that tells me that it isn't uncommon to be extra fatigued after the scans - even a day after, due to all the stress, anxiety, and contrast dye. I've just never been this bad before.

Cookie - I did want to say how much I enjoyed waking up to Buster's new Christmas picture. At first I thought it was a painting, but then read your AI explanation. Thanks for posting it. It's uplifting for sure.

I really do want to get back to people's prior posts individually, but again, I'm just way to fatigued right now and a bit concerned about it. I do wish you all a wonderful day and am so glad for everyone here!

Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer

Irish, you were busy yesterday but it sounds like you were definitely feeling better and I am very glad for you.

It is raining quite a bit here, warmer overnight but the more snow that melts the better, got a few days above freezing. No icemelt used yet since I have been inside and no appointments this week, I should be able to do the recycle and take it out this week which will be good.

I decided I will wash blankets today and use the wee washer for cloths. I have a few that can be washed but the main ones from my bed. Does not take as long as it used to from the tub when I threw them all in. Need regular sweeping, the robot vac is useless for my place, I think it is too small here for it to be efficient, I will just store under the microwave shelving unit and use regular vacuum and microfiber mop as needed plus still have my sock mops that do a good job picking up the dust when I shuffle my feet.

Probably opening a can of beans, microwave with an egg and beefless ground then chop everything with my chopper, just add some cheese and I don't know what. Later, heat up another large meat pie, split in 3 when it is done and supplement different meals with pasta OR rice and can chop up with frozen veggies etc. I will see. I also still have some of the mini pizzas left so if I want to, can have a pizza and cheesy garlic bread with an english muffin.

I do hope everyone has a really good day, I am in pockets for anyone who needs me as well.

Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

In the rush of daily living it’s easy to forget all the remarkable people, real or fictional, who have been a part of your life.  But if you just imagine they are near for a moment, you will realize that anyone who ever touched your heart is always with you, patiently waiting to emanate warmth and support whenever you remember to think of them.

Re: Herceptin alone or (Herceptin + Perjeta) together

I'm not a doctor, so I can't give you medical advice, but my understanding is that Herceptin alone is only for small, stage 1 cancers. Most people in your situation seem to either be getting Herceptin + Perjeta or Kadcyla (T-DM1). I was just barely stage 2 and did Taxol, Herceptin and Perjeta before surgery and Kadcyla after.

Re: Are you currently (or have you been) in a Clinical Trial?

bits of good news trickling out of SABCS:

New oral CERAN/SERD Palazestrant (OP-1250) plus ribociclib reporting 81% stable or better for at least 6 months for ESR1 mutant MBC, tho lower but still great at 70% for those without ESR1 mutations and 68% for those previously treated with CDK4,6i; ORR (tumors shrinking) was 27%. Longest individual response thus far is 18 months. Overall PFS has not even been reached yet, they are going into phase 3 next year (OPERA-02 trial).

Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

It's foggy out and 71 degrees. Definitely muggy weather and not an ideal day to drive to Ponchatoula (30 to 40 minutes) for a hair appointment. I hope the rain holds off for a stop at Walmart afterwards. I have a list of things to buy. Often I meet a friend at a coffee shop when I go to Ponchatoula but she wasn't available today.

This hair appointment is for a trim but it's possible that I may go back to color in a future appointment. I'll live with "natural" a little longer. DH won't state a preference. He leaves the decision up to me.

Wishing everyone a good Tuesday.

Re: how about drinking?

Hey all! Got good news today, the poetry anthology that I have poems in, is now available on Amazon. The title is Oceans of Poems: An Anthology by Women Poets of the World

My poems can be found under Arlene.

Re: So...whats for dinner?

Minus - I don't care for Sister Shubert at all. Quite a disappointment.

Mississippi Roast tonight with a side of mashed potatoes and braised carrots. A dear friend is having hand surgery tomorrow so I fixed a giant chuck roast and sides for her and her DH that yielded enough for both of us.

Re: So...whats for dinner?

Oh Reader - I love beef tips & noodles. I'll have to try your upgrade to steak tips.

I finished the last of the quiche - with all the remaining broccoli as a side. And finally cooked the "Sister Schubert" frozen rolls. I was disappointed. Several people said I would find they were as good as my Mother's homemade rolls. Nope. Granted, the rolls weren't bad, just not even close to my Mom's.

I ordered King Comice Pears from the valley for myself this year. They are such a treat. Then I received a box of Royal Rivera pears from Harry & David (also Comice) as a gift. I'm truly in heaven now. Just hoping my ex-DH's wife will send the chewy pralines she sent last year.

Re: So...whats for dinner?

Reader, My favorite part of cookie exchanges was coming away with a few new recipes to try.

Dinner tonight was steak in a sherry cream sauce on capricci pasta.
