Re: Zometa side effects
@marcials1 - Yes, I think you are confusing me with @intolight . I get a Zometa infusion every 3 months (ugh!) and always have some sort of side effects. Zometa is only an infusion, to my understanding. Anyone getting a shot is likely getting Xgeva. They are similar drugs and have similar side effects, but are given differently.
@intolight - Wow, it was 9 years for you with the Zometa every 3 months! That's a really long time before going to 6 months. Next November will be two years of every 3 months for me, and I was considering asking the onc if I could go to every 6 months. I've been pretty sure he will say no, but after hearing that you waited 9 years for the switch, I'm absolutely sure he will say no. Good for you for going so long without any jaw necrosis problems, etc. I hope the Afinator works out for you. I honestly don't know anything about it, but good, good luck!
Re: Zometa side effects
@threetree Marcials1 is starting Afinitor and yes, we all wish her well on this new drug for her. It was not kind to me, but we all react differently. I am pretty sure my nine years on Zometa was an oversight because my onc seemed surprised when I brought up the length of time I was on it. She quickly agreed to lengthen the dosage span. She is my second oncologist. My first one, who started me on Zometa, was in a different state and obviously at a different cancer center so I don't fault her for missing this fact. There are so many different drugs, and dosages, and treatment plans. I struggle to keep up with them all and I am sure I have missed some of you sweet ladies here. None of us is at all bothered when things get mixed up. You are all so supportive that it is just nice to have some place to talk about it.
Re: Is it common to have male radiation techs?
Thanks everyone. I'm a week into radiation and not freaking out about it as much but still uncomfortable with how it was all handled. 15 more visits and I'm done, now I'm just focused on the finish line. I really appreciate you all taking the time to post and share your experiences with me ❤️
Re: Why would people not return for their 6 month follow-up mammogram?
I guess some people might not go to a six month follow up because of the insurance copay or because they figure a year between mammograms isn’t that long. You were wise to go to your appointment since if a problem were found it would be at an earlier more easily treatable stage. If you have been called back recently it is normal to be nervous before the next mammogram. It’s much better to follow medical advice than bury your head in the sand.
Re: Disappearing Focal Asymmetry
Sometimes focal asymmetry is caused by dense tissue that gets layered when the breast is compressed. That was probably the case since nothing was found on the ultrasound. Because of the callback it seems that this time they were careful about positioning your breast and took extra views to make sure all was well. Congratulations on the clear mammogram!
Re: how about drinking?
Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Hump Day! Tomorrow Mom and I go to look at the apartment that is open in the facility she wants to be in. I am so hoping she'll be able to get it, but trying not to get my hopes up. At the same time I’m dreading the process moving her will be. She wants to keep everything, but won't have room for it all, and doesn't need it all (especially the must be near 100 plastic tub lids she has piled up in one corner of the kitchen counter) and will want to sell what she does decide to not take with her, but very few things are actually worth trying to sell. So I'm trying not to think about that part, too. And the trip to North Caroline is in a couple of weeks, getting Mom packed for that is going to be a real challenge. I think I 'm going to have to start sneaking clothes out of her place and packing them in my suitcase, or they'll never get washed and packed. Either that or do all her packing the day before. I'm staying at her place after dropping the puppers off at the kennel as we have to be at the airport by 4 ayem.
Techa--pecan oatmeal cookies sound wonderful!
Carole--good luck on the trip to Louisiana! How long does it take you to get back?
Morning, Wally, Minus!
Miriandra--glad you had such a good time! How can some beads sewn on felt be worth $5K? I hope it was fun wearing it, at least. Great pics!
Morning, Rischaller!

Re: I say YES. YOU say NO....Numero Tre! Enjoy!
Yes, I even follow a few of the ladies who modeled on Instagram! AnaOno fills a much needed niche. They even recently partnered with Victoria's Secret to make their bras available through their shops. In my dream world, I would love for them to purchase my designs and boost their visibility to the flattie community. 😁
