I checked out a cookbook for wok cooking (kenji lopez-alt) and made a chicken stir fry. YUM.
New dishwasher arrives tomorrow. Ugh. hopefully, DH's meds will be enroute.

Dinner tonight was kabobs (beef) and some really delicious Olathe corn on the cob.
Tomorrow is DH's birthday and the kids are bringing fried chicken for lunch. They're bringing Mac and cheese too and I'm making coleslaw and a fruit salad. After such a big lunch dinner will be minimal. We'll go out for a birthday dinner Monday to a favorite Italian restaurant.

Yes, I hope they will deliver since we have no specialty pharmacy in our little area.
I ended up using a can of Amy's Indian lentil dal soup and fleshed it out with roasted cauliflower, cherry tomatoes and some spinach. Turned out better than I thought it would.
I'm thawing boneless, skinless chix thighs for tomorrow but no idea what I'll make yet.
I think the problem with this dishwasher is that whoever built this house had it installed before they put in the flooring. We may have to rip out a part of the flooring to get it out. Always something.

Eric, I'm jealous of your plett pan. Those pancakes are like crepes but easier to flip. It's also good for making fried eggs in a neat standard size. That gentleman must have had a connection to Scandinavia. I'm glad you gave his pans a good home.
Carole, I've had cottage cheese with many things but not cranberry sauce. I'll have to try it.

I sauteed the ground beef and bulk Italian sausage and added a jar of Raos to half of the cooked mixture. Froze the rest of the cooked meat for a future meal. Cooked a lb. of linguine and added part of it to the sauce. Grated romano. Ta da. Dinner.
The Raos had stayed home instead of making the trip to MN. I was happy to see it.
Wally, I don't cook dinner main dishes with pineapple or cranberries, either. Yesterday I had cottage cheese with canned cranberry sauce with berries for lunch.
Eric, the elderly gentleman couldn't have found a better person to adopt his old-fashioned cast iron. I am not familiar with the first two pans. We have a small electric waffle maker stowed in a cabinet.
Grocery shopping is on my To Do list today. Dinner will be chicken. Maybe oven barbecued. I definitely need to stock up on some fresh vegetables and salad makings.

Carole, I’m glad you had an uneventful trip home. I miss Drury Inns (none near current travel locations) since they provide breakfast, an evening appetizer buffet and have microwaves in the room. Homewood Suites used to do the same until commercial firms started housing their working away from home employees there to avoid paying for dinner. I’m with you on unpacking before grocery shopping.
Wally, Botanically many things we call vegetables are fruits (tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, peas, avocados, green beans, olives) so I guess it just depends on individual taste. Many dinner recipes with sweet fruits have vinegar in them.
Eric, Do you have an aebleskiver pan? I suppose your breakfast is no more elaborate than waffles if you have a waffle iron (I have neither lol.)

There's a Total Wine not too far from my house too. They carry a substantial selection of all sorts of interesting spirits. DH is a scotch whiskey guy, and I can reliably find fine brands there if I can't think of anything else for a birthday/Christmas gift. 🤣

On my To Do list today is a trip to the big wine store in another town. Total Wine? It's the only store that stocks Gilbey gin, dh's preferred. Gordon's is easy to find, but Gordon's won't do. Gin doesn't seem nearly as popular as vodka. The vodka section is always large.
It's 76 degrees this morning at 9 am. It was foggy when I got up but the fog is dissipating.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Saturday! I woke up to frost Thursday ayem, yesterday ayem and today, so I finally gave in and turned the heat on for a little while yesterday and today. 45 degrees is just too chilly, even if it is going to warm up pretty nicely as the sun comes up! Yesterday Mom got herself worked up into quite a tizzy going back and forth between getting packed for the NC trip and waiting to hear about the apartment. It's going to be a long, long week until we find out about the apartment. I updated my brother and sister-in-law about the apartment situation. SIL immediately went into General mode (her words, not mine, but very true!) and gave me a whole list of what has to be done and how it has to be done from what moving company to use to how to sell Mom's car. I learned a long time ago to just smile, thank her for the great ideas, agree with everything she says, and then go do what I think is best. So General SIL doesn't bother me at all with her orders, but she gets Mom really wound up, so I can see that I will be doing a lot of refereeing during our visit. Oh well, that's why I didn't plan the 2 week visit that Mom was expecting. I know I can't handle doing that for that long!
I finally got an ottoman to use with the new rocking chair, and it's now comfortable so I sit in that a lot more and not just the oversized chaise. The puppers join me in the chaise, one at a time or both together, but only bog boy Colt climbed into my lap in the rocker yesterday! It was kind of nice having his legs and back end over my feet keeping them warm and his head in my lap. Funny looking, though.
Carole--Mom getting this apartment would be the best thing in the world for her. I've seen situations like this before, once the person moves and gets settled they usually blossom and thrive. Having people around that have similar life experiences will be so good for her. I'm not crazy about her being an hour and a bit drive away, but she'll actually be closer to getting help in a crisis than she is with me 20 some minutes away, not to mention having access to all kinds of social events and activities. And as her needs for help change, her service package can be adapted to meet it. Its good you have a comfortable vehicle to drive back and forth in. And it sounds like you have the whole trip worked out to be nice and relaxing rather than stressful! It always feels good to get home after a trip.

Red October Cocktail
Ingredients
• 151 proof rum: 0.5 oz(15ml)
• Goldschlager: 0.5 oz(15ml)
• Jagermeister: 0.5 oz(15ml)
• Cinnamon liqueur: 0.5 oz(15ml)
• Rumple minze: 0.5 oz(15ml)
To craft the Red October, you'll need to:
- Chill a cocktail glass.
- Pour 0.5 oz of each ingredient into a shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously until well-chilled.
- Strain into the chilled glass.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick, if desired.
