Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
Good wee hours of the morning. I really need to go to sleep soon. Eye dr. appt. today. We have to drive 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours. Insurance is the culprit. Hopefully last visit with this group. Of course you never know who Humana will contract with next. Did visual screening and full exam. Today we will finally do tonometry to check pressures. Hopefully it will be below 20 so I won't need drops for an extended period of time.
It was so hot here today, that I rushed to get birds taken care of and replanted two flowers I had just purchased. Everything is cut back to encourage new growth after freeze. So the bees are coming and I have nothing flowering for them. I need to pick up more from garden center.
Shanagirl, I know just how you feel about your babies. Pigeon and Minnie were rescued from a dog fighting ring. Contrary to popular belief, they are so loving towards humans. Not cats and bark at other dogs ( but never in an aggressive way with other dogs). We know buy cooked chicken and mix it with quality dry food after years of Alpo we food. Their coats look good now and they really love chicken.
Mara, love your lentil receipes. Haven't tried making a dish with lentils in it, but we have a small air fryer, so I really want to give it a try. We recently bought a combo washer/dryer. I find it complicated but working on understanding the different commands. A laundry guru says to always set your wash on 15 minutes and use warm water and no fabric softener. He explained we don't need so many settings and the clothing will last longer if wash and dried with proper settings.
Hello to all here on this thread. I hope you are having a good sleep and a lovely day tomorrow. Noticed more severe weather on way, so please do be safe.

Morning ladies, Here is a pic from DD bridal shower. Theme was "Love is in Bloom",it was a great day everything went smoothly. The flower cart was a hit and everyone enjoyed making a bouquet to take home. Grateful that we all dodged illness to be able to enjoy it!
@irishlove In your pocket for safe travels to eye dr and a good exam!
@mara51506 I think you need to upload videos' here of you making all your creative recipes! In your pocket for treatment tomorrow, hope the travel is easy and the weather cooperates.
@shanagirlHope your cold is starting to get better. I have something going on but not sure if it's allergies starting? It started when I was handling all the flowers for DD's shower…idk it's nothing terrible but been using my Flonase. Hope your enjoying our NJ warm-up and feel well enough to sit outside and soak in some healing rays of sunshine.
Thinking of everyone here this morning, in your pocket for a good week of treatments and all struggles💗
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
@shanagirl When you try the lentils again, let me know. I am interested to see how it goes.
Slept all right though still feel tired from the time change. I hope my province follows suit like BC and parts of Saskatchewan and turn off the time change. Farmers do not need it anymore and it would be nice not to lose that hour. Luckily my appointment for Herceptin is in the afternoon on Wednesday.
Have the usual chores, laundry, bed making and such, have to decide what I want to have to eat. Going back to laundry, was a waste of time using the hang up dryer on those hankies, just going back to the dryer. Breakfast could be an egg with crispy lentils microwaved with a mini pot pie done. Microwave maybe 5 mins on high. Use some mayochup. I will see, it is not time for major eating yet.
Short post, nothing too much to say, it is nice and sunny here though. If I come up with a nice meal will say so though. I hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone too.
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
Update, went old school for the first meal. Opened can of black beans, chopped up black beans in regular chopper. I already prepared 1/2 cup white rice and a bit of chia seeds, not a ton. Heated both in water. I do a 1 to 1 ratio rice to water, bring to boil then put lid on with a lid. Let it cool. 2nd part of meal was the 1/2 cup chopped beans. Heated up a pan with garlic butter and once hot dumped both rice and beans in there. Put some burger sauce and sour cream and limes. I like to start with a hot pan before dumping in stuff. Then stir a couple of minutes and turn off burner, put lid on and let it cool on the stove. Already tasted some it was a good combo, will add a dash of salt since beans are not salted, I will see, just letting stuff cool off a bit. I also did not do a lot of chia seeds since I want to finish off a meal vs keep in the fridge.
Tonight's meal will be one egg and one mini pot pie. I will grease a bowl and place the mini pot pie in there, 5 mins or so with perhaps some frozen peppers. It might be good.
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
Good Saturday Morning my dear sweet ones. I’ve been siting here on my second cup of coffee, reading all about eye bag depuffing products just seeing waht’s out thee because I am definitely a make up, skincare girl😊. then I thought this is getting boring and the thought came in my mind that I want to check in with all of you. I came home yesterday from PT with a horrndous cold that came upon me all of a sudden in the evening while I was making dinner, and went to bed coughing sneezing chills and totally runny sinuses, and lots of tissues.🤧. So I’ve been hangin out on my I Pad all morning.
@mara51506 Yes I alwas loved the fast Mcdonld Breadkfast McMuffins. they always hit the spot and it’s ok to splurge once in a while. I always liked the Egg & bacon McGriddle and the home fry…..
Dear Sweet @irishlove I was so happy to read that your beloved Pigeon is doing better. Our animals are our children once our children grow up into adulthood. Our animals are our babies and our love for them is equally strong. Sometimes I sit with my 2 Pug brothers, now 7, and I just feel overwhelming love for them and imagine how awful it would be if they got so sick and passed away.. But they are both so atached and bonded to me,I don’t want to pass before they do. Oliver is especially attached to me sticks like glue to me. never leaves my side and is a big little mush. Samuel, also, but sometimes loves to hang downstairs with my DH & DS when they are watching their games.. But Oliver, is always glued to my hip day & night🥰
Also I haven’t read through everyone else’s posts. So hello everyone
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Hello to all. It is a rainy night. It did get to 80 today, but the house stayed cool. It is so nice, no air and no heat.
Janie, I liked the big book story. When I was 10, my teacher wrote doesn't read enough books on my report card. I was reading a book nearly everyday. I had read all the Bobbsey Twins, almost all the Nancy Drews, and some other series that I don't recall. So I went to the school library and got Pride and Prejudice. I liked it. LOL. I watched the movie the other night and couldn't stand it. My mother did send her a note saying I had out grown the school library and went to the public library.
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
Got the insomnia bug so been watching Matlock, the current one and it sucked me in so far. Once caught up to current episodes, may try the older show since it was on a good long time itself.
I did eat meals overnight because when I cannot sleep, I just eat like normal, makes me feel better physically. Setting the clock ahead is a bother as well. I really hope that as more provinces drop the whole thing, that we can do.
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
@irishlove I am glad that Pigeon is feeling better and talking back to the barking dog. Can also understand the work it takes to look after animals, though I have cats, they create a lot of work for me as well.
I have laundry started, will do the rinse/softener cycle and toss in my bedroom dryer. I am utterly amazed how little detergent is actually required. Really thought more was better when I first started but it is about a drop from the Tide and I add literally one spray of tide spray and one spray of oxiclean maxforce spray. Still creates a sudsy wash for them.
Been unsatisfied with food as of late. Yesterday was OK mealwise but did not enjoy the microwaved egg as much. I think I would be better to use the wee pan for frying up an egg OR the mini griddle to get that done, make my own egg mcmuffin type vibe, I will see. When it comes to other veggies in a can, I can use the spice grinder to pulverize stuff and keep it all more normal for me. Just like a kid whose parent is hiding the veggies. Regarding the other spices I found, I need to pulverize them into a powder and since they are very strong tastes, stick to 1/8th of a tsp of each and still get a good flavour out of them. I also like the idea of hiding them. I am also thinking of whipping up some scrambled eggs with mayo to make more silky. Just add the eggs and mayo for flavour, I am thinking that kind of egg and basic english muffin would be good.
EDIT I did take two eggs, 1/4 cup of peas and bit of sour cream and garlic mayo. Whipped up in the magic bullet. Really could not detect the peas in there which was good. After everything whipped, added butter to a sprayed frypan and dumped the eggs and pea mix, stirred most of the time, did not take long to heat up. The texture was a bit weird, sort of a more liquid cottage cheese post heating, but in the end it all was very good. Realizing I can add lentils to a yogurt smoothie, add some mio and a little water and have extra fibre and nutrition is great. I did not wind up with english muffin, could tell the eggs and peas along with the bit of sour cream and garlic mayo was filling. I figure that whipped eggs could have anything added to them. New meal unlocked. I am imagining hotdogs done first in the air fryer then add to eggs with peppers and such, chopped together in the magic bullet and keeping the whipped style.
I do hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for everyone, own pocket as well to finish out laundry and the cat area cleanup as well.
Re: My Husband, My Life, My Love, My Family, My Cancer
@runor the Kefir milk is delicious and creamy like yogurt. I have a glass of it during the day 2 or 3 times. I scrape the creamy curd off the top of the cultured mixture and add it to the top of my glass of organic whole milk. It’s so good. The only odor comes from the whey liquid below the fermented cultur floating on top. I refresh it every other day so there’s no sour whey, which is also supposed to be very good. But i only drink the creamy kefir. Enjoy her website and recipes for all cultured veggies & desserts too

Hi everyone!!
@cookie54 yes I did get my appointments for treatment, PT and I saw my neurologist at the NJ Brain Spine Center in Montvale yesterday. All is well. I’ve been off this thread since a week 1/2. So I haven’t read thru anything yet. But just checking. In to say hi and keep up with you all. I’ve been especially worried about our @mara51506 and hoping she’s still doing well. ……I have to run now because I have a PT appointment to get to.🥰
