Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. Had a decent work day, my weekly massage (which she was kind and gave me a warm and fuzzy treatment vice working mainly on my aches and pains in my arms), then shared a nice dinner with the dh. I stopped at the local store tonight, bought some fresh crab and made some killer crab melts !!! Topped with a couple glasses of vino and now some very large glasses of H20 .... LIFE IS GOOD !!!!!
Annie ... wow, this Weds huh? You'll definitely be in my thoughts. Lets consider this one more thing to check off the "to do" list to a long healthy life ahead.

Hi gals: Carol, did you get that package yet? Sounds like a lovely bd!
Yep, wednesday, with a 2-4 day stay and a 6 week recovery. This is due to prior C section and abdominal adhesions. Worth it in the end I hope for that long and healthy life.
Sending good vibes, thoughts, prayers and love to all in txtmnt (and a big THANK YOU to Mandy, for the adorable fuzzy "buddy" for surgery and recovery you sent)...I'll be MIA for a few weeks, but will be back asap.
love and will miss chatting to you all

Annie Sending you all my thoughts and prayers for a sppedy recovery. Hope to hear from you soon.
Carol - Happy Belated Birthday!! I am so glad that you enjoyed your day!!!
Saw the onc yesterday, spoke about all the vitamins she wants me to take. And of course the tamoxafin. I have to take 1000 D, 1000 calicum and 1 multi vitamin and 1 fish oil pill daily. I started taking them all today. Of course it is too early to tell but I feel ok besides being very moody!!! I have been really nasty today just ask my dh or my kids. But they will survive. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I meet with the PS tomorrow and then after seeing him I go for pretesting for my reconstrction surgery. After tomorrow I will not have to see a dr. for 15 whole days!!!
Best wishes to all and for those that are going through tx just keep thinking positive that it will be over soon.
Hugs to All,
Colleen

Annie.. I will be thinking about you tomorrow. I wish you a speedy recovery and successful surgery. You let us know ASAP about how you are doing or we'll be forced to come looking for you!
Carol...getting any relief from your massages or acupuncture? Sure hope you are!
Hey Colleen, I take all those vitamins, too plus magnesium. The D that I take is D3. I can't do the fish oil though because I end up burping it and the after taste makes me sick. I know it's good for us though.
Hope everyone in treatments is doing well.

Hi all
Had tx 6 today; they were running late so I got to race to rads. Then I went for Physical Therapy accross town....my worst rads side effect is that my old shoulder injury is acting up and painful.
Came home and fell asleep.
Annie, I am thinking of you and hoping that this surgery goes as easy as it can.
Carol, let us know how the accupuncture was.
And anyone else who is have a tx this week, no side effects.

Annie ... woke this morning thinking of you gal ... here's to a complicated "free" surgery and a quick recovery. Be well my friend,
Carol
PS Off to work ... will have to report back on round two of accupuncture !!!!

Had tx 6 of CF yesterday....the M is being left out because of the simultaneous rads. Much to my surpise I am doing much better than after tx 5. I don't want to put a hex on myself but so far so good and that is more than I can say after my last couple of treatments.

HI SWEET SISTERS, I DID CMF 17 YEARS AGO. HAVE BEEN THRIVING EVER SINCE. KEEP THE FAITH~BREE p>s> I DID 6 MONTHS OF CMF 3 WKS APART. NO HAIR LOSS, NO TRUE NAUSEA(VOMITING). FATIGUE, TOWARDS THE END AND I PROBABLY FELT LIKE MY OLD SELF, A YEAR TO A YEAR AND A HALF AFTER. I WORKED DURING TX FULL TIME.0

Hi Ladies, I'm a newly anointed CMF-er survivor of AC x 4 & Taxol x 11 who will be receiving my 2nd CMF this Friday with Zometa being added for my spine met. What things should I ask about to help recover as I am a full time teacher and what should I expect...is anybody here also just a CMF-Zometa...tri-neg?
0 -
Swimfan ... first off I'm not a CMFer-Zometa in the same mouthful gal. I did do CMF last year with no significant se's, and I am now receiving a Zometa infusion every six month as a preventative measure (have had two Zometa infusions with no significant se's). I see your in the Seattle area (I'm over in Poulsbo myself). I can only wish that you will find this txt plan pretty darn doable, and that it kicks those darn cancer cells clean outta here.
I will advise lots of H20 ... I truly believe that if you tolerated your AC/T txts, you will find CMF to be much easier .... I'm sure your well aware of staying ahead of any se's. Best of luck for a very successful txt plan.
Bree, Big High Five ... your the story I'm longing to hear more often !!!!
Mandy ... awesome news gal ... so glad to read your doing much better this go around.
Lastly ... Susan, enjoyed the visit ... couldn't believe that 2 hrs flew by that quickly. Now you would be the CMF poster gal ... it was awesome to see how great you are doing on this tediously long regimen. You truly could be the inspriration to many with your sense of humor and upbeat attitude. Just get er' done, eh ???

Bree - I agree with Rita - thank you so much for posting - so nice to hear your info.
Carol - SOOO great to see you and I agree - the 2 hours just flew by. One of these days we should meet for a real drink.
Thank you for the poster girl comment - I hope my minimal s/e continue, and my Cruella DeVille look doesn't scare any small children. #10 down, 14 to go...
Everyone - I hope you have a great weekend. I swear spring is coming!

Aprilgirl...It sounds like you are handling this very well. Here's to 14 more uneventful treatments!

Good Morning from the Soggy Northwest,
We had a little tease of decent weather last week, now back to the gray/wet stuff. So with that said, here I sit indoors this Sat morning.
Just a quick update on the acupucture saga. Went for round two on Tuesday. This time she stuck needles in the back of my head, ears and forehead ... all for relaxation purposes and since I complained of my sleep being disturbed by my achy arms. I also was "stuck" in my legs can't remember how many but about 5 in each, and 3 pins in my left arm. My bad side is off-limits to pins. I've also had her do a Moxa heat therapy to my joints that are giving me the most discomfort.
Along with this, I also agreed to start a herb formula (with guidance from the Naturapath). I made it very clear that I DO NOT want any herbs that will tweek with my hormone levels. So with that said, I have a powder formula that I mix with water and swig down like a shooter and taste awful.
So how's all this working .... No great big miracle as of yet. Do my elbows maybe feel a bit better, I think yes. The night of the txt I have not slept well at all, but I have had some pretty restful nights since. I guess some people respond to acupuncture very rapidly and others it might take a few weeks. I'm not giving up ... will go for round three next Tuesday.

Carol,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Belated... Sorry, I've been thinking of all of you, but I have been MIA lately. I've been trying to catch up with my cleaning and other stuff that got put aside while I was on my cruise.
Nah, we aren't really much for pictures, so I only got 2 or 3 pics from the cruise, and the way we are, they will probably stay in my digital camera, til we go on another trip, and then we will have to empty these pics to make room for a few more. Then I'll share them, I promise. But it may be 10 or 20 years from now.
Annie,
I hope you are feeling ok, and that you recover quickly from your surgery. I won't be getting Lupron, since I am (supposed to be ) alread post menopausal, even if my onc doesn't believe me. He's an idiot, what can I say.Rita,
Hi...The cruise was wonderful, we had great weather, and sun, and it was so much fun! I told my pcm dr. last week that 'just laying by the pool, reading, and drinking drinks was SO exhausting!'
Take care all, and if I don't see you on Facebook sooner, I'll try to get back on bc.org to update you. I have my annual check up with my surgeon next month, so I'll probably have another breast MRI to look forward to...
Hugs,
Harley

Hey Carol...so glad that you're staying with your acupuncture program for a while to give it a good chance. I do so hope that it helps. We've got to get you ready for golf season. Dave and I went out and played nine holes today. They weren't letting out carts so we had to walk. I had already walked 3 miles at the Mall this morning so I more than got my exercise today. Since it was soggy and wet in places, there was absolutely no roll on the course, but it was nice to get out and swing the club again.
Harley, I'm trying my hardest to become acquainted with Facebook. You are doing so many things on there that I don't have a clue how to do yet. I'm trying to give it a little more time each week. It took forever to get the picture on and I was so darn proud of myself when I did!
Carol, just a thought that I'm throwing out and it may be completely off base. Have you considered the fact that it might be the Zometa that's causing most of your aches and pains? I quizzed my onc about it on Thursday when I was in there because I was hoping that he'd have changed his mind about giving me the infusions. He made the comment that the bone and joint problems that are SOMETIMES associated with it don't warrant putting me on it yet because there is only one study on use with post-menapausal women. Since it's not the standard yet for me, he can't see subjecting me to the possibility of joint and bone pain until he has more firm knowledge that it is indeed beneficial to post menapausal bc survivors. I thought of you when he mentioned the possibility of these side effects.
Hope you gals in treatment are doing A-O.K. Have a great Sunday!

HI there..I did acupunture for my neuropathy and my GI symptoms
and the moxa too and cupping...all helped a little..and I will take a little over nada..
The person who did mine was actually an MD ...she is Korean...
I would do it again but she was transferred...
0 -
Lisa ... you know I can always count on you for some insight ... and of course beautiful photography !!!!
Question .... whats cupping ? And I'm with you any bit of improvement I'll take !!!!
Speaking of insight .... Rita, I'm more than ever pondering your thought on the Zometa front. Might need to do a little bc.org snoop !!!!

Hi Carol..cupping is where they use a little suction cup that uses a little vacuum to pull at different points on your body...it leaves a little mark for a short time...my doctor did all three things so I can't single one out...with my rumbling tummy left over from CMF and gall bladder, she even hooked a little battery to electrodes between four needles...that part worked the best I think...
She also tried to get more circulation to my feet and she did do that too...
She kidded me she said she was an expert on exactly the nerves were due to the fact that she was a pathologist and had to do lots and lots of autopsies...now that made me feel better,.lol
but she really did lab pathology and her expertise was blood cancers...
She volunteered at our Navy Breast Health Center..she is a Captain in the Navy Medical Corps
and here is my picture for the day..

Lisa - What a beautiful picture. It was one of the first things I saw this morning.
I saw the PS last Wed. Everything is set of the 26th. He said the surgery would be about 1 1/2 hrs to about 1 hr 45 give or take a few. I will not know until the night before what time. I am hoping it is early in the am. I do not have to stay in the hospital I will leave the same day. I have to stop taking all the vitamins 10 days before and stop taking the Tamoxifen 7 days before. He said recovery would be 6 to 8 wks. I am looking forward to getting this all behind me, but then again scared to have another surgery and seems like starting all over again with the pain and exercises etc. Also I have a question? I have a pain in my left heel on my foot. Especially when I wake up in the morning. It just started on Thursday. Could this be from the Tamoxifen does anyone know? Just thought I would ask. Went to a ST. Patrick's dance last night, but really could not get going. Left about 11:15 and everyone was surprised. I am usually the last one to leave a party. Just do not have the stamina anymore. Hoping it comes back. Well I wish everyone well this week and a Happy St. Patrick's Day to all. Everyone is Irish this Tuesday!!!!!
Hugs to all,
Colleen

Oh Colleen, I'm sure you're tired of hearing that it just takes time, but you will feel better in the weeks to come. The fatigue is the last thing to leave and you still have more ahead of you. Then, you'll have plenty of time to regroup. Hang in there. I can remember thinking.........when will I ever feel good again....when???? It does happen. HUGS!

Colleen..that sounds to me like plantar fascitis...especially with the morning heel pain..there are some stretches you can do for that or wear a night brace which is what I do at the first sign of it..you can tell, I have had it a couple of times...it keeps the foot stretched out in an L...when you point your toes at night under the covers, it can start it...it is treatable..but annoying

Hey Lisa...another lovely picture. You are SO good!!! I bet you could even make Illinois corn fields look fantastic! LOL Have a great day! I'm off to get the household chores done and possibly walk a few holes of golf.
