Fantastic news Annie.  It's always so good to hear B9 results.

I'm another one who's tumor never showed up on mammo.  It's so strange to think that if I had refused the MRI (like I did last year, and the year before), the tumor would still be there.

I'm having some nausea from Monday's treatment.  I felt pretty good until the IV emend off, but neither the kyril nor compazine pills seem to be doing the trick right now.  It's not terrible; just something I could live without.

    Take care all.

Annie - I am so happy for you.  You must be sOOOOOOOOOO Happyy!!!!!!!.

I had may surgery yesterday, it was a very long day.  I was scheduled for 10 and didn't go in until after 11.  After that they had a very hard time starting the IV.  My veins are just no good.  Finally able to get it after about 1/2 hr. Left the house at 6:56 a.m and didn't get home until 7 p.m.  Didn't feel too bad until about 2:30 this morning.  My rt. side where the implant was put in is hurting  a little bit where the sutures were put in, but my left side where they did a lift and reduction is so far so good.  The big problem is pain in my rt. shoulder down to my arm.  It has kept me up for the last couple of hours as you can see, I am not normally up this early.  Took pain meds. seemed to help for a little while, but came back.  If it still persists in the morning (later morning when things are actually opened) I will call and ask if this is normal and if so if I can have something stronger to take.

Well I should try and get some rest as the kids will be getting up for school in the near future.

Thanks for all the good wishes,

    Colleen

Oh Colleen, so sorry to hear you are in pain. I hope you feel better this morning but you should still phone and get a different pain medicine in case you need it later on.   Here's hoping everything feels ok today.

Samiam....just a hint.  Take the compazine as soon as the treatment is done BEFORE you get any nausea and keep taking it as directed for about 3 days.  It wards off the nausea.  I never had any luck getting the nausea to subside with the compazine after the nausea was already there.

Colleen, Be sure to call if you don't feel better now.  There are so many different things that can be taken to relieve the pain.  It is not worth suffering when the meds are available.  If you don't call, the doctor will assume you are doing just fine!  Hugs!  Hang in there!  Just keep thinking about the final results!  :-)

Well, I think I overdid it on the water load yesterday. Up most of the night making bathroom trips! Once I'm up my mind keeps running. So far I'd have to say any fatigue is from lack of sleep. Anybody have recommendations for what may help sleep? Preferably over the counter. I know they said the decradon could cause insomnia. Only required to take it this morning so maybe tonight will be better.

Samiam and Colleen, I hope you are both feeling better today!

thanks gals, I am sooooo happy to be back to figuring out calcium supplements and vitamins....ak, a few weeks I could have done without.  However, I will always believe it was the right thing to do, esp. after the 5 years tamoxifen and cysts on everything that I had.  Three more things never to have to worry about again!  And at 53, I am not using them :).  Another month of recuperation on the couch and limited stairs etc., and I'll be back to being able to exercise!

This is still the "lucky thread" I think.....everyone with pending anything, take note!  You will be prayed for and sent good vibes :).  Thank you, thank you, everyone so much.

Oh Susie, I had to laugh.....I do recall Carol was up in the middle of the night doing laundry and I was on the computer, and we both had Decadron.  It does do that.  I hope tonight is better for you, but if not, well I reccomend Craig Ferguson.  One night of insomnia isn't too bad, once every three weeks.  It just became an inconvenience as i needed a nap the next day.  Then i was good to go.

Samiam and Colleen, good wishes for feeling all AOK in no time!!!  I had alot of luck with lemon candies, the hard kind, Rita recommended to me, and ginger snaps.  Also ginger tea.  Never needed any nausea RX, altho there was one close call one day, where I got the zofran out, had it sitting on the counter...but the nausea passed off before I took it.  Weird, isn't it, how different we all are.

Colleen, don't suffer sweetie, get those kids off to school, take the pills and a nap.  But do call, any pain should always be reported.  hey, it's only a phone call, right?

I hope your mom is hanging in there?

    love to all of you

Scarp - that was great news.

Well I slept most of the day and have been diligient about taking the pain meds every 4 to 6 hrs.  This is definitely worse then the mast pain.  Spoke to both the hospital and drs. office and they said the pain in the arm could be from the way they positioned my arm during surgery.  If it persists over the weekend with no relief from meds to call them.  I will see PS next Friday morning.  Watched a little of my sons hockey game and came home eat somthing to meds and fell asleep for two hrs. and I am feeling ok now.  I will take some more meds before I turn in for the night.

Annie - my mom is doing ok.  She was suppose to have lung scans last Wed., but she could not go because the stuff they gave her to drink made her sick.  The rescheduled to this coming Tuesday.  Hopefully things will go better for her.  She has alreday had 4 tx and did pretty well.  The scans hopefully will telll us if the treatments are working.  But again she is pretty stuff!!!!

Hope all have a nice weekend and I will check in again soon,

Annie-I did get a good 7 hrs in tonight! Yeah! I do think the worst thing I did was originally going to the previous thread with all the major ses. That get me awake before the chemo and then afterward my first treatment I was given instructions to take the decradon and zofran for that evening and the following two mornings and evenings but I didn't take it at least one morning and I was fine. Never been a very good napper. I also learned not to jump the gun on taking a laxative (I hate being constipated; always been pretty reg in that dept!). Have been drinking ginger tea but thanks for the excuse to get gingersnaps-one of my favs! Also got a good ginger snap stew recipe.

Colleen, I hope you have a pain free (at least mild) weekend!

Scarp, glad your mammo came out good.

Now I'm gonna take my great dane for her morning stroll! Been to tired on previous days. She deserves it.

    Ciao for now,

    Susie

Hey gals!  I have a new grandson who was born last night about 7 p.m.  He's 8 pounds 5 ounces and has been named Evan.  There were a few scary moments as the umbilical cord was kinked and his blood pressure shot up but baby and Mom are both doing well now.  I am going to try to wait until Easter before heading to KY as we will be going back again shortly after Easter for the baptism.  If I find I can't wait, I'll just throw some clothes in my car and take off.  It's not really practical, but..............LOL

Scarp...I'm so excited for you, too.  Wonderful!  We always like to hear good news!

Susie, you are going to find that your side effects are much different from those experienced by the gals on the other thread.  That's not to say that you might not have a few side effects, but you will quickly learn how to manage them.  CMF is very doable!

Carol, are you still keeping the aches and pains under control?  When you do you go on your golfing vacation?

Annie, is the recovery coming along better now that most of the anxiety is gone?  Hope all is well there!

Well, I need to get busy.  A friend and I are going shopping for eyeglasses this afternoon. I went by myself a few days ago and couldn't find any that I liked.  Although I seldom wear them except around the house, I didn't think I wanted to pay the price they are now asking for a pair that I didn't like.  Hopefully she'll be able to help me find a pair that's not too obnoxious.  She's never led me astray yet!

    Talk to you later.

Rita:  Congratulations!!!! You must be thrilled.  There is nothing a like a new baby in the family that makes everything wonderful.

Still feeling crappy.  I thought this surgery would be easier, but I am not finding it that way.  I do feel better, but I thought by now I would be up and about.  Just do not have the energy to do so.  And I know that the kids are planning something for me tomorrow for my b-day.  I just hope that I have a lot more energy.  Enjoy your Saturday everyone.  They say it may clear up a little in NY I hope so so maybe I can take a short walk

Congratulations Rita!!!  A new grandson--what a blessing.  I love the name Evan.  Easter is only 2 short weeks away!

One of the main reasons I'm going through this chemo is to increase the chances I will someday hold a grandchild in my arms.  My oldest is only 11, so I have a while to wait (hopefully), but babies are so amazing--I just love them.

Hope you feel better soon colleen.  Take it easy and give your body the time it needs to recover.  A gentle walk might make you feel better, but don't stress yourself.  Hope you get some good weather--its all rain where I am today in the midwest.

My nausea finally feels like its gone for good this round and, despite the bad weather, my energy and good spirits are back.  Yeah!

    Good morning everyone -

    Scarp - great news!

Colleen - hope you feel better soon, and by all means don't get behind on the pain.

RIta - Congratulations on the new grandson!  Such an exciting event.

Samiam - I totally agree - that is why I am doing chemo.  My youngest turns 10 tomorrow and my oldest turns 12 in May.  We all need to have as many years as possible to enjoy our families.

Bolerodiva - happy to hear you feel better.  I agree, hearing about other chemo side effects really worried me before I started CMF.

Susieque - sorry you are having a hard time.  I urge you to let your oncologist know - they have many tricks up their sleeves.

I am going in for #12 - yes, on a Saturday while my family is at the science center for a couple of hours.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow, a need for congrats on new babies and boobs !!!!!   On "cation" down in Arizona ... rather hyped to see Jill tomorrow afternoon.   Know that you are all in my thoughts often ... yes, even when I'm on vacation .... it is kinda weird to not spend atleast a bit of time in the eve's checking the happenings, its been such a norm of the past 18 months or so.   With that said ... its bedtime here ... I did take a quick peak at the latest posts ... may I just say ... all the best to my CMF sister friends.

    Good sunday Am all,,

congratulations grandma Rita!!!! I'm sure you'd be welcome if you threw some stuff in the trunk and showed up!  They'd probably love to see you and have some grandma time with the little guy!

Carol, hope your vacation is great, and Jill is awesome!! Sending my love to both of you...

    Scarp: WAAAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I hear ya on the anxiety...worst part of it all, isn't it?

Samiam: so glad you feel better!  I do everything to increase the odds, bec. that's the plan, right?

Bolerodiva: glad you feel up to walking puppy....please don't read the other scarey stuff, I found that I tried to "educate" myself and only scared myself half to death.  This thread is all about keeping our lives in as normal a mode as possible while dealing with some abnormal stuff.  We find it's helped us all live life pretty well during chemo.  (Or "treatments" some like to refer to it as, less scarey and weird!)

SusieQ: Please do call the onc, yes, even on the day off.  You shouldn't have to endure any pain here.  It sounds like they pulled your muscle or something, but still.....they do have many tricks up their sleeves that they pull out when needed, so give 'em a call.

gotta run, beginning to feel pretty normal, except for energy level.   I don't know about anyone else, but anesthesia always knocks me energy wise for a good 3 weeks after.  Oh well, occupational hazard.

love to all and feel well today.

Hello All - Well almost 4 full days after my surgery and I am definitely feeling so much better today.  Still can sleep at the drop of a hat, but the pain is almost gone.  They toll you to keep checking incisions to check for changes and to me they always look horrible.  But I guess I would know if anything had change for the worse.  I can't believe people opt to have this kind of surgery just for cosmetic reasons.  When you are in so much pain after surgery I always think that I am never going to feel good, but look only 4 days and I can't believe how much better things are.  I meet with the PS on Friday, so hopefully he will agree with me.  Yesterday, my kids were in another play at the local Bible Church they did very well.  And then they took me out for B-day for some ice cream.  By the time we got back I was definitely ready for bed.  Well I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that you all will have a nice week.  The weather is definitely changing for the better here, but I still look forward to it getting in the 70's.

    Enjoy,

    Colleen

    Rita,

I LOVE your new pic!  You are beautiful!

I still haven't found a job yet.  This area where I live seems to be one in which if you don't know someone who can give you a job, you are sunk... I don't know anyone with the power to hire me.

    .....sigh.

Hope everyone is doing great!  I can't wait for the weather to start warming up.  I just HATE winter, and cold weather!!
