Can't stick around and drink tonight...storming here...drove on flooded roads all the way home, state of emergency, mudslides, etc. Thundering, raining and lightning now...oh my. Signing off and shutting down for the night...have a drink on me ladies and if your in the path of this storm...STAY SAFE...STAY INDOORS!
Gee...maybe I won't be able to go to work tomorrow...three day weekend! That would make me feel better!
    Hugs all around

I'll keep you posted on the se, if i get them.

so it is friday and the weather seems to be good here, AT LEAST NO SNOW YET...........got to bust my chops this weekend and clean the house, since we are having a house full for turkey day. but I will be drinking my merlot all weekend.

WHAT??? Nobody drinking (or hanging out anyway) on a Friday night??? I know Randi is cleaning but what about everyone else?

I worked late so I'm up late but I have a 'normal' shift Sat & Sun. The Thanksgiving craziness has begun!

The only way I can get through this is to drink! Scotch tonight and probably wine on the weekend.

    Cheers Ladies!

As far as Arimidex goes...I started taking it a year after 11/04 dx and surgery. I went one year without taking action on any hormone related stuff. Anywho, been on Arimidex since 11/05 At first took it early morning but it started making me sick to my stomach so I started taking it before bed each night and no stomach probs at all.

    BUT I MISS ESTROGEN! DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers,

Hrmph. Am I the only one here - again??? Randi is probably cleaning, Donna is probably packing (moving?) and Christine is probably working late but what about everyone else - Thanksgiving shopping? I get to work on Thursday but I'm off Fri & Sat. I don't normally shop on those days but if a store I like has some great early morning specials then I'll be there!

    Cheers!

Shopping!!??!! Unless it's in a catalogue or on-line--living in the boonies does not allow taking advantage of early sales at shopping malls! I don't miss the fight for a parking space and all the crowds, but must admit that on-line doesn't generate the same feeling you get from the real thing! Big sigh--learning to live with it!

Best "shopping" we do is to drive 40 miles r/t, across state line to get booze--a once-a-week "adventure" and usually, dinner out that night!

    Life is good!

We do seem to be 'off' on our posting schedules, huh?

I have a super busy week. Big project at work I need to wrap up by Wed, cooking Wed night & Thurs morning, getting stuff ready to move. I don't actually move until Dec 10th, but am leaving on the 13th for vaca. At least I'll have memories of my sisters and me (biological sisters, that is) lounging on the beach in Montego Bay, and a totally wrecked house full of boxes to come home to!!

One sis got a letter from the State Dept last week, saying her application for a passport was denied, because she applied for one in 2003. She didn't apply for one in 2003, so don't know what's up with that. She's concerned about identity theft - I'm concerned she won't get it straightened out by Dec 13th, being as how the Fed Gov't is so expeditious and all.

Anywho - hope everyone has a great Turkey Day. Family tradition is sisters and I start cooking and drinking wine about 11:00 am and usually eat around 1:00 - 2:00.

Better get to work now on my super boring research project. Yuck.

    Cheers,

    Donna

    Junie,

I guess I was thinking 'grocery shopping' since I work in a grocery store and it's been mayhem for the past three days - and we have 3 1/2 yet to go! I'm working on Thursday but will be off to my parent's house and eating around 4 p.m.

Somehow I got off Fri & Sat so I'll be doing some sale shopping (hoping for a 'deal' on a video camera) which is something I've never done before. I'm also hoping to see one of my young men this week.....

Happy vaca to Donna and Happy Thanksgiving to all my other drinking buddies!

Christine - Loved the Vegas pics!! I am SO jealous!!

DH and I got really trashed on Sat. night!! We woke up suffering on Sun. I fell asleep on the sofa about 7 pm and that's all she wrote! I don't usually get hangovers, so that sucked out loud . And the Eagles lost and that truly sucked!! A bad day all around.

Today one of my incisions from my surgery 3 weeks ago is still oozing. Of course it is the BC side. I had rads 2 years ago, and I don't know if that is contributing to the slow healing. Geez, I can't even listen to myself!! Stop Whining!!!!! Crap, knowing my luck, it's probably from the alcohol lol!

All you fine ladies have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I will be doing the annual drunken sisters bash .

Not that late and I am checking in. I have decided, this year I am not cooking.. It was always just so we (me and bros) would have leftovers We do join our adopted fam at their country club every year, Not the same! I am tired and if I am not doing the whole big deal, I am doing nothing. I might change my mind on Wed night. I have always cooked my mom's recipes, since she died, 12 yrs ago. If my house was big enough for 20 plus I'd have everyone, I LOVE to cook t'day dinner!

Christine--glad you mentioned cooking--I got sidetracked here, reading different threads, and you "remembered" me that I was here for just a few minutes while the last loaves of cranberry and pumpkin bread cooled so I could wrap them up and hide them from hubby and dog! Been doing a little Martha Stewart thing tonight--baked bread from scratch--some to take with us to Kansas City for Thanksgiving and some to freeze for when kids come down for Christmas. Did I mention that I H A T E to cook!!! I thought Thanksgiving this year would be a small gathering of just a few friends in Kansas City. Dinner has mushroomed to 16 people and I know only three of them! I had volunteered to do dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, Waldorf Salad, and green bean casserole--didn't know I was going to cook for a small army! UGH! And, I've been fighting a cold ever since Vegas--feel crappy. Guess my days of staying up all day and playing all night are over! But, can't wait to do it again!!! hugggsssss
    Happy Thanksgiving, all!

I love to cook also. My sister is hosting the big pig-out, and I am making dessert. Two pumpkin pies, a regular pecan pie, and a Kahlua pecan pie (oh God!). I am also bringing the sweet potatoes. I like to candy them with brown sugar, orange juice and Triple Sec. I bought premade pie crust yesterday, which I never do. Since I am only 3 weeks post op and my incision is still draining, I really shouldn't roll out pie dough.

Cheers and holiday hugs to all my drinkin' buds

    Shel!

Glad you had a good time the other night - you SO deserve it! Advice? Do what you feel is 'right'. If you really want to then go for it. Young guys don't generally understand 'baggage' so a simple "it's been a while" or something like that should help him understand if you're (acting) nervous. I'm hoping to get some myself this week! (e-mail me if you want to)

I'm off to bed as tomorrow will be another super-busy day at work for me!

    Cheers Ladies!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING DRINKERS-
    any excuse for a party!

Here's an old family turkey recipe, I figured that I could post this here w/out offending anyone.

    1 whole chicken or turkey
1 large lemon, cut into halves
    sprig of rosemary
    salt and pepper to taste
butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer

    Heat oven to 350 degrees
Rub butter or oil over the skin of the chicken/turkey until it is completely coated.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you prefer.
Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat; Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up, one on each side. This way the juice from the lemon will release into the breasts.
Place sprig of rosemary into the chicken/turkey.
Cover and bake for 30-45 minutes. Remove cover and continue to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes.

If you've followed these steps correctly, your chicken/turkey should look like the one in the picture.
    Bon Appetit!

    image

I was sent this email and thought those lemons look pretty good, I may recommend them to my ps.It even looks like the turkey has tan lines, lol

Christine - I also received that one by email. I was wondering if the lemons were under or over the pecs??

    Here's another good recipe:
    Couldn't resist . . .
When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people, like me,
who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked,
but not dried out. Give this a try.

    BAKED STUFFED TURKEY

    10-12 lb. turkey

    1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good.)
1 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHERS LOW FAT) Salt/pepper to
    taste
    ______________________________
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter,
salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in
baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven. Listen for the
    popping sounds.

When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open and the turkey flies
across the room, it is done.

And, you thought I couldn't cook.
