how about drinking?

I'll take your warning, but I usually make my statement then run for the hills. I'm outta there.
Yup, up at 2 last night, do you suffer from insomnia too? I've had it for so long, I can't blame anything I'm taking now. I just deal with it.0 -
I do the same, Rosemary. I'm not all that great at "debating".
Usually a half of an ativan works for me. I don't have any problems with sleep deprivation unless it's right before my period. Have tried tylenol PM?? Lot's of my friends use that nightly, but you cannot have a nightcap when taking it.0 -
Sherry
Actually, I have not a problem in the world falling asleep, I just wake up fully wide awake and ready to start my day. Then I look at the clock. I should get more suspicious when it's still dark outside, but it doesn't register.
It really doesn't bother me much any more. It gives me more hours. Well it's time to head out to the gym, I want to put on more weight today. If I keep building muscle, I'll break the scales.0 -
Hahaha!! Rosemary, that's why I don't work out. Too much muscle building. I actually gain 5 -10 pounds when I work out. I know it's good for you, but my 5'3" frame can't stand the extra weight, so flabby it is.
I too wake up anywhere from 4 am to 5:30 am fully wide awake. Maybe if I could stay up past 8 or 9 pm, I could sleep 'til 6.0 -
i exercised once..........i didn't like it lol!

Hi all,
I just want to thank all you ladies for the half hour of laughter I just had. You are great people and so witty!! Iam recovering from two martinis from last night and I needed this!0 -
Yummy!! Martinis. What kind??
0 -
Hi,
Dirty gin martinis with a little more olive juice than ususal0 -
ADK - Laughter and martinis...I ask you...is there anything better in the world?!? And for those who prefer their beer, or scotch or wine, or whatever, please substitute for martini. I never discriminate, and that is true of alcohol as much as anything else in my life!
Rosemary, I'm up and down with the sleep thing...during tx I would just "wake up" in the middle of the night and that would be it for me, just couldn't get back to sleep, so I'd get up. I hear you on that -- you make me laugh -- the dark just "might" be a clue that even the birds aren't ready to grab their worms!! Last night's episode of "late night roaming" was #1 son -- 18 years old, out at two parties to celebrate the end of high school, one down "at the beach" ... this is the drinking thread, so let's not kid ourselves...that age, groups of teens, if there wasn't a bottle being passed around and/or a few joints I might as well go live in a convent. They're 18, they are learning about life...and he's a good, sensible kid. He had the car, he knows the rules on "no drinking/no drugs/with the car" ... but I'm a mother and I worry. Strolled in around 2:00 a.m. -- I was just glad to see him and he was sober. Don't usually "worry" like that, I'll go to bed and just listen for the key in the door, but last night I just felt I needed to be "there". Then up at 6:00 a.m. because he had to be at McDonald's for his 7:00 a.m. shift (and does he feel that today -- welcome to the real world!!) and I need my car today so this poor body is feeling it today.
Glad to see some of us exercise and I will do a 2 mile walk today (I can't tell muscle from fat anymore!) -- Shel, I'm sure you exercise... Exercise comes in all forms honey -- keep that in mind!!0 -
Sherry - OH!!! The sleepless nights of parenting teenagers. Been through two already. One more to go.
AKD - Scared of gin. Did me in way back when I was one of those rowdy teens, but I do love very dirty vodka martinis.0 -
lini, if I get through the teens with the first son, there's still #2 coming up (at 14!) and that one gives me more reason to "be afraid, be very afraid!" Actually he's a good kid too, just a little more willing to risk, step outside the box...no different than any other youngest/oldest situation.
A friend made me a dirty vodka martini once and I liked it very much. I don't mind either gin or vodka martinis -- it depends on the mood. I can, however, do without the sweet ones with chocolate. And a cosmo is always a nice change if I'm out with the girls. Yeesh, here I go again and it's not even noon ... if I'm not careful Marla will see this!!0 -
Ohhhh, those sweet ones with chocolate!!! Puked my brains out December of 2004. Never again!!! I mean never!!!
My number two is a girl. Do I have stories for you!!! And she also is a good kid (well 21 year old now). Thank God it didn't take her more than once to learn the lesson. She's the reason that I started to drink. I celebrated the day she graduated from high school and we hadn't killed each other, were still both sane (well, sort of), and still loved each other.
Lini0 -
I've heard that daughters are a whole different ball game!! I'm glad you (both!) survived!!0
-
Lini - everyone has a story about one type of alcohol or another - DH will only drink tequlia, his story is about gin too0
-
my story is about peach schnapps and a boat (and a hot guy).............i can't eat peaches, drink peach juice, or keep anything in my house that even smells close to "peaches"........my mom loves vodka, peach schnapps and oj........i gag when she pours the peach and i can smell it across the room, and immediately feel the "boat rocking"...my salon doesn't burn peach candles anymore either because of an "incident" years ago lol!

My story involves schnapps & a boat also, but it was Hot Damn and a canoe. I had trouble finding my bathing suit the next morning! Ronda

lol..........i had trouble remembering if i even had a bathing suit with me at the time!!!!!!! oh to be 20 something again............"NOT"!

My story is about SoCO (southern comfort) yuk!

"a litle dirty" - Playboy
"a litle more dirty" - Penthouse
and if you want "a REALLY dirty martini" order a Hustler
LOL0 -
Ah!!! Thanks for the tip. I was a martini virgin up until a year and a half ago. What if you want vodka?? I also have a SoCo story. Won't do that or slo-gin either. Geez, I sound like an alcoholic.

i wonder if a beer would go with my percocets? picture this girls........me in a bikini, chemo belly, jp drains, one inflated boob, one deflated boob, a trashy novel, a hammock, some percocet on board and a no hair or toenails.........i can't believe i'd even have stories to "dish" lololol!...........sorry i just caught a glimpse of that very description in the mirror.........i thought you'd all get a laugh out of the visual, my neighbour just shut her patio blinds lol!

Oh Shel! LOL! Beautiful picture!
Janie0 -
Funny!! Glad you can still laugh about it. You have a great attitude. My new motto is: "I'm fat, I'm flat, so I have try harder!" to look good that is.... Can keep on trying, right??
I couldn't do the beer and percocet, by the way. I'd be flat on my ass.0 -
You have the best sense of humour in the way you tell a story Shel!!
What is it with gin and southern comfort?? Both of those were my thing in my early 20s and while I can still drink gin (but not w/tonic or anything like that -- martini, tom collins is still ok), I can't do the SoCo anymore?
You ladies are wiickk-ed with your bathing suits -- or NOT!!
It is so hot and humid here, really, really humid and I'm thinking -- I need something nice and cold to drink...but it's got to be virgin at the mo because I still have one to get to bball practice (from a pool party no less!) and the other from work. He can drive home & then I'm "OFF DUTY"!!0 -
Oh MY HEAD!! Okay girls I realy overdid it with the drinking last night. It was my birthday dinner. We had lots of yummy wine with dinner. A bottle of Shenendoah Primitivo, a bottle of Dobra ZEmlah red blend. These we brought from home as they are both special wines from wineries in Amador county. Anyone been there. Then we ordered another bottle of some red. 5 of us and I had a real buzz going by then. Food was great too. I had curry thai shrimp and my friend had a pasta with chipotle ,tomato sauce and we split out dinner.
Oh and the rich chocolate brownie cake with ice cream for desert along with a small bit of port.
We then stumbled downtown . Out town is very small and you can hit all the bars in one block. We where hoping for some fun music to dance to but town was a bit slow. Some guy bought us all a drink. I had a gin and tonic which I did not finish.
Got home and couldnt find my bra and undies Lost my boob you know , the fake one.
I hope it turns up at the lost and found.0 -
OUCH!!! You need a spare boob for times like these.
0 -
By the way, I was feeling sorry for you also, not having a good birthday and all... but, not anymore. It sounds like you had a fun time.
0 -
i'll mail you mine (fake boob) i never did use it.........i'm glad you had fun........me i'm the "new face of breast cancer" lmao.........mike and i about died laughing when the neighbour shut her blinds..........we usually call her "snoopin ruby" and even built another deck to avoid her nosiness.......geuss i cured her huh? i'm glad you guys appreciate my humour, not everyone does..........goin back outside for some sun.......my PS will be righteously pissed off about that.........oh well! cheers girls, i'll stick to the percs today, but i'll have a drink with ya'll tomorrow!

oh and susie...........you know what they say about that aching head? "have a little of the hair of the dog that bit you!"..........i wish i could join you, but happy birthday!

Gatorade works too!!
Shel: You crack me up!! I like your style.0 -
Lini, I did have fun. You know how alcohol can sometimes affect you a bit oddly. I have been up and down lately and to much wine can sometimes bring on the down fealing. Especially red wine for some reason.0
