Okay, I have to say "cheers" for my dad as today is his 73rd birthday! He's still going strong and I hope he's around for a lot longer so that Miss Avery can get to know him better.

And, I'm gonna ask for good vibes, positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever for my interview at the ACS this Wednesday. Their office is closer to home than W.F. is and the work hours are more normal so I really, really want this position. Thanks!

Well, another rainy day here. If someone needs rain then please take some of ours! Looks like indoor activities all day. Avery will be meeting some family members she hasn't met yet so that should be interesting (she gets clingy around 'strangers').

    Cheers!

Ok, prayers are going for the interview to be the best you have ever had and for the showers to be on their way HERE.!
In my mind the person interviewing you will see an aura surrounding you that denotes the most outstanding individual to have ever applied to ACS for any position ever. That they cannot possibly let you out of the office without signing you to a life contract with a double salary with top benefits!

    Thanks Dotti!

More frickin' rain most of today and again this evening. WTF??? Plus, the next five days are supposed to be rain filled! So, I'm having a 'nightcap' of Vanille Royale since I didn't drink at the birthday celebration today. Avery got lots of toys and few outfits so mommy can now spend her money on booze ! (Just kidding for those who think I might be serious) The baby girl gets everything first, mama gets everything after that!

And I'm gonna buy the first person to take away all of our rain their favorite bottle of whatever they want!

    Cheers!

Good luck Janis!! I hope that you get the job. I lucked out and a job recently fell into my lap. No interview, no app. nothing. I know it sounds really weird and I never really, truly believed in the power of prayer or positive thinking until recently, but I prayed for the job, and positively thought about this job and whoosh, a few months later here it is. It's not perfect, no benes., husband carries those so it's okay, but they do match my retirement contributions. Bad thing is if I were fully credentialed I'd be making about 10 bucks an hour more. Keep telling my kids to stay in college, but already have one drop-out. I will be thinking positive thoughts for you as I know how badly you want another job.

It seems like yesterday that you were celebrating your dad's 72nd bday. Happy bday to your dad.

    Hey Drinkin' Buds!

I'm currently hooked on the Vanille Royale and not in the mood for wine OR scotch. Maybe all the meds I've been on this past month have made me crave sweets?

Well, the good news is that my ear infection is gone! My ENT doctor says the ringing might never ever go away or it could. Hell, I'm just happy to be off the anti-biotics and the steroid!

Oh, and Avery's 1-year-old check up went well although she didn't like her three shots very much. Tomorrow is cake and family. Wish me luck baking - this is my first attempt at a tres leches cake. Anything for my baby girl!

The interview went - well? I dunno. There are other candidates I guess and there would be a second interview should I 'pass' the first one. So, I guess I'll hear next week maybe? It's a bigger job/position than I thought, requiring more hours than I thought, and I could and would do it but not forever as I cannot work 60 hour weeks indefinitely as I want to be home for my daughter but I'd do it for a while. I'm sure I won't get it so I'm still sending out my resume to other employers. Thank gawd for drugs and alcohol because that's what it's going to take for me to get through my 4th (ugh!!!) "holiday season" with W.F.

That's all. Avery's birthday is Thursday so it's all about her, her, her which is fine with me! I cannot believe how 2 years ago I was despondent about my life/future and now I have this precious life in my hands and I couldn't be happier! I wish you all could meet her because she is a doll! I'll post her b-day pics pics next week.

    Cheers!

mmm...tres leches cake...i know there is a tres leches ice cream...

was really hoping for a better post on the interview, jbird, but....

what really matters really...it is all about that darling baby girl of yours...she'll make the holiday season special, how much sick time do you have...
    hehe

what an absolute sweet little peach cheeks, want to kiss them... what a baby doll you have in that miss avery...

reminds me how grand the whole motherhood thing really is... my baby is nineteen and the most darling son in the world!

hope the right job falls in your lap and soon! i have been lurking and hoping...

definitely time to jump ship at w.f.

and you will whe n the time is right!

Well, that's what interviews are for: find out about the place and decide if that's what you want. Ya gotta kiss a lot of frogs!
It just means that YOUR job is still out there and on it's way, you keep looking and it will find you when you least expect it.
My dream company fell into my lap when I had given up hope and was ready to change careers--gave my card to another nurse when we met at a doc's office, and had a message on my ans. machine with an offer when I ret'd to my office at home!

Hey Cheryl - good to see you posting here! Sorry you're not feeling so great.

Ducky - welcome to the funnestist (we make up our own words sometimes) thread on the boards!

I never drank the day of or the day after chemo, but since I tolderated it freakishly well, for the most part it I'd have a couple of glasses of wine whenever I wanted to.

    Have a great weekend buds~

    Cheers,

:::as I wave my magic wand, you shall go there:::

    Hey drinkin' buds!

It's Vanille Royale once again. I think I'm addicted!

Tomorrow is my last day of 'vacation'. I cannot believe I have to back to work! Oh, to be a stay-at-home mom! I sure am asking for a lot - a child, a good/better job, a nice guy, no hangovers.....

We have power and we didn't flood so I guess all is well. My entire block across the street has been without power for two whole days now! There are traffic lights still out in various places. The broken and fallen trees are so sad to see. The power of Mother Nature is awesome.

I hope everyone else is safe/happy/drunk/fill-in-the-blank.

The only upside of having to go back to work at W.F. is that I can pretty much eat as much cheese as I want to. Luckily I like cheese. And Avery does, too. Plus, working there gives me a great excuse to drink!

Well, cheers all and a warm welcome to the newbies!

Janis- all of your lil emoticons keep me smiling. Cheers to you. I am having a glass of Pinot Noir and going to watch the rest of a movie I started earlier, before I met with the new cute painter guy. Way too young, he may even be marrried and my ex plays cards w/him so way off limits. Now I have to wait for the roofer guys.
I had dinner w/ my great friend (for40yrs), her husband and daughter. It seems we have not done anything by ourselves since she got married, almot 20 yrs ago.Oh our lives are so different, but I am sure you understand.

I think Donna is away having a girls weekend-Hope she is (I know she is) having one for all of us.

Welcome to the new drinking buds, we have the funnest thread on this site. All our welcome and no judging here.

Sending cyber blue rinks to the north, south and west of me. Cheers.

Hey Junie- I'll be at the Lake over the holiday weekend, hope the baby comes after. Keep me posted. I look foward to meeting Crissy.

Bar is open in Arkansas--welcome to the new posters!!!! Been a few mind bending weeks with lots of company--prodigal son who lives/works in Algeria finally showed up with his most wonderful fiancee for a couple days visit--what a great time we had! Now, long-time friend here for a visit and we have had a lot of emotional, boo hoo trips down memory lane!!! We've been friends for 30 years and is so great to sit and talk and laugh about things we've lived through.....

Otherwise, life is in a holding pattern--waiting for that St Louis baby to arrive--Bob is so excited and so am I--because hopefully, I'll meet up again with Christinek and Crissy...........

    so, drink up!

Christine - do you have ESP? YES, I was away in MO for the annual girls pool party. Probably the most laid back pool party to date. We didn't even get nekkid....I brought a bottle of Cabo Wabo for hostess Denise, who is a tequilla lover (or at least she used to be) and God love her, in our 25 years of friendship, I've never seen her that drunk! She couldn't even talk by 5:00 pm. Luckily, I'm bi-lingual and speak "Drunk" so I was able to interpret! She and her DH have had a hell of a couple of weeks though (her DH's daughter was dx w/ cervical cancer w/ mets to her kidneys, she's only 31) So Denise had warned me she was ready to tie one on, and she was definitely successful.

Janis - glad to hear you weathered the storms okay. Still keeping my fingers crossed on your job prospect.

Gotta run. You girls all have a great day!

    Cheers,
    Donna

You were in MO, but not here as you should be! Come soon.

I am saying prayers for Denise's SD. I don't know if they are close or not, but if so, I am sure Denise will be a great friend to her, as she has been your friend for so long.
Junie-thinking of you and waiting for that call. Doesn't your son or DIL work at an area Hosp? Is it St Mary's, that is where I was born and recently went to for my stitches.

It's funny I don't have a new PCP as my retired (in Jan!) and a have a whole slew of docs I see, but no one to just take out my stitches (13 of them in my hand) so my SIL did it today. She was a sx nurse pre babies. When she was done, I told her she forgot to offer my some shots (as in Tequila or something) before she did it. That is so not like her!
    G'nite Chicas!

Lots of weird weather, still--have had a couple of torrential rains last few days, but also, some lovely wonderful afternoons and evenings.....

heading out tomorrow for casinogirl-land, but not as far as to Tulsa! Rain, rain, go away!!!!

Imbibing Lite-ly this evening, but the bar is always open!

MB - I knew crazy Bob would come through for us!

I want to see your new gazebo! It's so gorgeous where you are anyway.

I am taking off next Tues & Wed ( to go along with the Mon holiday) just to catch up a bit with my house and have "Donna time".

Sipping a bit of cognac right now. Never thougt I'd like cognac , but here I am!

Didn't feel so good earlier today. I think I had my first full-blown panic attack last night and I guess it was still kicking my butt today! I shoved a knife into my finger last night (not on purpose) and I do NOT handle well seeing blood come from me unexpectedly! I'm ready to go to bed and catch some zzzs.

Hey Buds - see my post titled "Tequila Test" on the humor thread for a drinking-related joke...

I might actually get to breathe at the office today and tomorrow, as I got one of my projects in at the last minute yesterday (which was the deadline.) Thank God Colorado is one hour behind Oklahoma, as that time difference has saved me a couple of times meeting deadlines for getting reports emailed!

Hope everyone has a great day! It's only supposed to be 88 degrees here today....NICE!! Makes me want to sit on my deck and sip a marg, or maybe some wine....

    Cheers,

TGIF - needing a long weekend, thankful for Holidays. I've been dealing with a client that has had an embezzlement by his bookkeeper. She tried to cover it up but didn't do such a good job. So far, I am at 50 grand and still counting. What an idiot.

Better get back to work - hope everyone has a great weekend.

Crissy and Christinek--baby is like any day now----hoping that we will be able to meet up when I make it up St Louie way. I'll call, for sure, and we'll take it from there.

Put last company on plane yesterday...and she missed a golden day here today. More company next weekend, unless we're gone to St Louis.....and then, hopefully, a bit of a break........gotta stash a few dollars away for 3-card poker in Vegas in Nov. Sam--we can't wait!!!

hugggsssss to all--seems like the bar AND house in Arkansas--always open--come on up, down, over!!!
