Junie- waitin' to hear the news, hope all are well and comfy by now- congrats if the baby is here by now...call me.
Oh, it's a busy weekend in the Lou. Balloon Glow is Fri night and the Balloon race is Sat, near the hospital, traffic will be CRAZY!
Hi Chicas- off to bed, just checking on ya'll and Junie

Hey Buds ~
I've been out of pocket for about a week, which is just as well, as I'm still trying to figure out this new format.
Traveled for work, and would have checked in on my new laptop, but we aren't getting along so well....I called the company no-help desk and was told I needed to remove the battery? WTF?
Anywho - Sam, the wedding sounds like a hoot!
Junie - I guess you have a new baby in the family now? Congrats!
Damn! I was just told I'm late for a 9:00 meeting....
Cheers

Just checking in on all of you.
Donna, hope you made it to your meeting, and Junie - is the baby here yet?? Hope the dog behaved himself and didn't leave you a present in your suitcase.
Christine - check out my new avatar - I'm not to good about some of this computer stuff but I did it. I know - the Chiefs are sucking already, but still have to stand my them.

Aw, the Saints don't suck - yet! Go Bears!!! I LOVE Sundays!
I've been laying low. I guess I'm used to this new format but with all the 'extra' steps (clicks!) I spend less time here as it's just bothersome to me.
I'm STILL looking for a new job (WTF???) and really, really need to leave where I'm at. I'm considering going back to my old store at least until I find something better. I'm beginning to wonder if I think I'm smarter and more 'qualified' than I truly am.....
Lately I've been partial to the Vanille Royale (if ya like Bailey's ya gotta try this stuff!) but now I'm into cabs again, also. I still have my scotch, though, for when I really need a drink!
Well, Cheers Ladies!

Hey Buds~
I am sipping cognac. Who'd a thunk it? BF got me started on it, so sipping some Hennessy Privledge (sp?)
Janice - I've seen you post about the Vanilla Royale a couple of times and always think I need to try it, but when I'm in the liqua sto I can't remember to buy it! Is it in the "Baileys" section?
Cheers,
Donna

Hey, all--just now back home to quiet, sane, Arkansas boonies. Baby is here, all is well with everyone--she is the MOST beautiful baby in the world, and I'll post a pic if I can ever figure out how...
Christine, so sorry that I didn't call--things were more hectic than I'd imagined anything could ever be. We were staying well over an hour drive from the hospital--and spent most of each day at the hospital--did get caught up in the balloon traffic...hey, we think it's a traffic jam if we see five cars on the road, so you can understand the frustration we felt--the whole thing was overwhelming!!! But, there will be plenty of St Louie visits in our future, so keep the faith!
Thanks all, for thinking about us! Bar is open--one more ML then hitting the sack!!!

Hey Everyone-
The past weekend ended up being cazy for me too, so Junie, I understand and look forward to that next visit. Details, please, What is the baby's name?
Woo Hoo - the insurance co finally agreed to a whole new roof, so now, I'll be getting an additional check and a new roof.
Good thing, because, I bought my whole family (6) Van Halen Tix, they are coming thru with the Tix to Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello, then the next month, Neil Young. It was a slow summer, as far as concerts go, finally some good ol' guys rolling thru town.
Janis- keep on looking or not. They say it usually happens when you least expect and it will be the perfect one (job or man, I guess it stands for both, lol)
Sam, great avatar. Mine is really for the baseball Cardinals. but I am about to change it. It is almost mathimatically impossible for them to go the Playoffs, our World Series champs will just have to wait til next year. I wouldn't think of putting the Rams as my avatar.
Donna- hope all is well with you. We should chat soon.
(((((Thinking of you all.))))))

Hey Laura and Lori- good to see ya'll here, you know... the "funnest" thread there is. Have a great hump day everybody. Time for bed, remember, I am central time- OMG- it's 2am - g'night!

Christine - sounds like your place is getting a makeover I want to go to some concerts too! Van Halen - that will be a loud one!
My sis called last night to tell me "the castle" was for sale. About 1/4 mile from where we grew up is a castle, built in the 1920s, and it's for sale. Sis wants to buy it really bad...I want her to buy it so I can FINALLY be the Queen of Quite a Lot. If she can get a tour lined up tomorrow with the realtor, we're going to go look at it. Think of the cool parties you could have at a castle!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

OMG! Can Avery and I rent one of the out buildings? I can't even begin to guess what that property goes for and I imagine there will be a lot of bidders on it, no?
I had too much scotch last night so I'm tired today (being at work doesn't help!) and will lay low tonight. I know I'd drink a lot less if I didn't hate my job so much. Only one more day before my day off!
Avery is wonderful but that's all I have to write about.
Cheers, and GO BEARS!!!

Good question, Junie! I looked and looked but couldn't find it either. Maybe you should PM the moderators?
Another crappy work week is over for me - yea!!! Baby Girl is teething big time so very crabby, but still very cute!
I'm looking forward to an all-football Sunday. GO BEARS! Does anyone here actually like the Cowboys???

Janis--thanks--I did send a post to the moderators re the cruise info--think I posted on the first thread...thought I had finally lost my mind when I could no longer find any posts for the cruise--hope to get an answer.....ahhhh, the teething days! They are difficult, to say the least. But, bet I'm not the only one here who dipped a q-tip in whiskey and rubbed it over the gums, praying for a couple hours' sleep! This, too, shall pass!!! This is just one of miz Avery's stepping stones!
Casino Gal--that is some big hunk of stone!!! Gotta get my map out and find Shoal Creek; can't be way too far from us! Janis can have an outbuilding--I want a high turret, but want an elevator to take me up!!!
Hugggssssss to all!!!

Hi Drinking Gfriends-
Just after midnight, central time and I am so ready for sleep. I have been MIA for too long and have to check in. This crazy computer, does what she pleases. I think it's the wireless router sometimes, that goes in and out.
Just wanna say hi to all and I am off work again tomorrow, then I am working all week, becuz my bro (boss) is going to Grand Cayman for his 10 yr wedding anniv, so I'll be covering for him all week Our restaurant is busy and has a lot of catering events, so I'll check in when I can.
Love to y'all-
ck
Janis-Please hug and kiss Avery for me.
Junie, if you are near, give that new gbaby a big kiss-
Donna, hey miss you! come to StL soon! (or OK, just call when you can)

...having a wee bit of a meltdown...no Merlot or ML for me tonight! I'm looking to see if I have blond hair and a blue dress and white apron--and, is my name Alice???? Down the rabbit hole for sure....Mercy!!!! Where the hell was I in the 60's and 70's when drugs were so available? Thinking that just for right now, I'd like a little trip to nowheresville.....check with y'all later......bar is open!!!!

I wish I could have a nice little drink but think the pain pills will settle better without a drink. But I'm thinking of you all!

(((Junie)))
What up??? Meltdowns happen and drugs are there for that very reason! I hope you're feeling better soon - if not, consult your physician. (insert old emodicon here as new emodicons suck!)
Christine, if I quit W.F. can I get a job with you? I know how to 'sell' stuff and I know how to drink and mix drinks - am I qualified???
It's been summer-like here which I'm digging but it sure is hard to know how to dress each day. I packed away most of Avery's summer things but it's too hot out for her fall clothes so it's been pack/unpack/pack/unpack..... (my clothes are always available since I'm not outgrowing anything!). I'm not complaining, though, since we'll be freezing our collective asses off soon. I'm even going shopping for a snow blower this week - UGH!
Well, Tuesday is shopping day (I drag Avery all over creation but she loves "shopping" - being pushed in the carts!) so I'm off to get some sleep. Avery is too cute - if she wakes up before I do she just stands in her crib and patiently waits for me to get up. Then if I don't have to work early I lay her in bed with me and we cuddle until my one dog insists we get up! Bliss, sheer bliss!
Cheers!

Junie - what's got you down? Hope your feeling better today. Maybe you are due for a ML tonight.
Janice - I'm in an investment club and had a meeting last night. One of our members suggested we buy some Whole Foods stock - so we did. Hope it makes us a bundle. We have 17 people in our club - started out with 25 but had some drop out. We have over $90k invested and showing a $18k profit. I'm the frickin treasurer - noone else wants the job. Keep making money for Whole Foods so the stock rises.
Cheers

Janis- you sound so happy, the restaurant business will just make you an overworked nightowl. Are we ever will happy with what we have or does the grass always seen greener (and the cash, even greener?) We're only an hour away by plane, you could commute daily, LOL. Didn't you work for TWA an ol' St Louis hub airlines? Maybe you have some benefits where you could go back & forth. Let me know?0
-
Hey Buds~
((Junie)) hope you're feeling better. If I had any of those good drugs from the 60s & 70s I'd send them to you. Listen to Dr Janis and see your Dr if you don't feel better soon.
Janis - wish I could say I haven't outgrown anything. There isn't hardly anything I haven't outgrown. It's pathetic. I think part of it may be the Arimidex (surely it isn't because I eat and drink too much). Looking for more pics of sweet Avery.
Sierra - good to see you pop in! Come back and pull up a bar stool with us and sip your wine.
A friend of mine came over last night and we got on a roll....she's going through a divorce and met a guy when she was in Aruba last month, so she had to tell me all about it...1 1/2 bottles of wine later she left. I'm not feeling so hot today...
Cheers
Donna

Welcome Sierra!
Yes, Christine, I was with TWA and then Delta. I'm on furlough so I still have flight benefits but where to go with no money??? As for work sucking the life out of me, oh wait, that's not what you wrote, was it? :0 Yes, I'm looking for a job with more-normal hours. HA! Silly me, thinking I can make decent money that way!
Tonight it's more of "premier" week. I rarely watch network tv (I'm a TLC, etc. kind of gal...) but I'm watching Dirty, Sexy Money which is really good and watched Cain (on tape) which was really good, too. I'm glad I don't have Tivo.....
Casino Girl, I hope your're feeling better? More pics of Baby Girl when I get a digital camera, and that will happen when I get the better paying job!
Cheers!

big hugs to you junie, and any costume you want, it is almost halloween and all over the stores...keep the bar open and everything will be okay...
being in socal, i close my eyes and think of this change of seasons, one of my two favorites, outside the window right now there are still trees in full pink bloom!!!???
hello, fall!
anyway found this thread again, the powers that be seem to like to send me on a hunt these days...
i want to work in the restaurant too, i have worn pretty much every hat there in the old family biz up in norcal. the only thing i miss is the meals and the tips.
maybe we should open our own restaurant and bar...it would not be called hooters that is for sure!
everyone, remain calm and have another one!

good to see you here, Laura and Sierra!!!!
Bar is open, and the ML is flowing freely!
It doesn't ususally bother me, but think all the pink, pink, pink--October--may be getting to me...........
ok--among girlfriends, right? I can whine and what I say here, stays here!!??
Hubby always plays in the annual Komen golf tourney here.....got a call on my cell phone; friend thought he was calling hubby--and message was to remind hubby of their starting time for the "titty tournament". I know that this guy's wife read him the riot act when she found out he'd called my cell..........not a really big deal.....I wasn't really offended......he probably didn't even know that I had had bc.......
.....then, in hubby's prize bag from the tournament were two drink holders...coosie (cuzie??? sp) cups from a local FUNERAL HOME....
I did think that was in the very poorest of tastes......and, as soon as I figure out who had anything to do with that, intend to let my feelings be known....
then, stupid laundry fight (post on another thread and all is resolved now--I still haven't done any laundry........)
but, it just suddenly seemed like I had slid down a rabbit hole and was overwhelmed by insanity and stupidity--------
I thank all of you who yank my chain and chat me, joke me back!!!
Sam--think I'll be "walking" (LOL) Fremont Street--have started Christmas shopping--gag me, shoot me--I know, it's not Halloween yet! But, am finding precious presents and only cash is my Vegas stash!!!!
gonna repeat something here, but it is for uou many dear sisters and friends...
...there are good ships
and
0 -
...well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit--I hit the wrong key.....
There are good ships
And there are wood ships
The ships that sail the sea...
But the best ships
Are friendships...
And may they always be!!!
Bar is open!!!!

I wondered what direction this thread would take with the recent news that drinking one drink per day (hah, I drink at night!) raises one's risk of bc by 10%. Three drinks a day by 30%. (10-30% of WHAT? I really need to see the study, not the headline.)
I heard about this as I shared a toonie with my dh tonight. Great, I said. Now we're supposed to feel guilty about bringing on our breast cancers?? Had I known this act five years ago, would it have been enough to make me stop drininking? Doubtful. Would I still be facing a new breast cancer? God only knows.
Women are still told to have that nightly glass of wine for heart health. And the stats show that more women die of heart disease than breast cancer.
What's a girl to do???
I need a hot toddy to help me get back to sleep. It's one a.m. and this is what my brain is doing when the rest of the world (and my dh) snores!
Anne
