how about drinking?
Comments

Donna .. we actually have Matthew McConnaughy hanging out on our beach! The girls were jogging along after him lol
Junie .. I often wonder if I should have another drink or just go to bed myself lol
Tracy .. It's only been 6 weeks for me and I'm told to give it 4 - 6 months until they 'settle' ... so far I'm happy with mine. That sucks that you're not happy but I understand that's not uncommon. What is it that you are unhappy about specifically?
It's been too long since I've played a drinking game! ...

Hi everyone!
Charlene...what beach are you on? I think I need to visit and I'll bring the drinks!
I've never had a chocolate Martini so I can't help with that, and I also have not played a drinking game for a long time. We did play one last year after a Nascar race at Bristol. Unfortuanetly I don't remember it much, I must have lost!!!
I'm also sorry to hear you're not happy about your exchange Tracy. I had mast/recon on L and lift on R. I actually was much happier with the Mast side than the lift side. I think my expectations were too high.I've learned to accept it though.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Lynne ... would love to see you at the beach. We're under Growing Our Friendships, Life's A Beach thread! Would love to see everyone here drop in! We're a very laid back group as you can imagine.
Tracy ... I just read some of your unhappiness with your recon on another thread. You are not alone girl! I don't feel like you do but I'm not as far along either. I'm still wearing the sports bras and will do so until my next appt in April.

:::BUMP::: went the wagon wheel and off fell Janis!
Hola! I celebrated passing my 9 days of re-qualification training by having a beer at the airport before my flight home. How could I not??? On Saturday I'll give my 2-week's notice to W.F., but I don't think I'll make it the entire 2 weeks as I have way too much to do around here and I've barely seen Avery lately so something has to give and I guess it will have to be the job that I hate going to...
So, I'm home and it's COLD! I'm seriously thinking about moving South, and I don't mean Southern Illinois.
And, I hope everyone's VD (oh, Junie, that was funny!) was good! Mine was spent studying and since Mr. Wonderful hasn't been he's out and I'm lining up new ones. Lining up the drinks, too!
I'll know my flying schedule next week so get ready to pencil me into your dayplanners (or ipod, or whatever!) if I'll be in your town!
Cheers!

Hey guys,
Today is my bro's b-day. He's had a tough life. Bad marriages blah, blah, blah....he finally met this chick Rosemary and we love her!
We all me at this cool...huge...place called Courtside and my bro looked so happy and handsome. It was awesome!
Angel, I don't want to whine about my foobs. I just got finished washing my face, jammies....god...they suck. So, I went and poured myself a glass of wine! I had my surgery on 11/20 something. They are what they are going to be. Whatever. I stuck socks in the bra I wore.
Cheers!!!!

Glad to hear people are still drinking during chemo. The infusion nurse didn't tell me no, but she did say the chemo drugs irritate the liver and it doesn't do much help to add the alcohol which does the same. Unfortunately, my sleeping has been so interrupted lately that I'm afraid if I had a drink after dinner, I'll never see my kids - fall asleep at 7 and be up at 2 am instead of 4.
The oncologist was funny during the first visit to him - did ask the standard question - how much do you drink? On the paper I put 1-2 a week, but while we were talking, I did say "Sometimes I save them all up for a week or so and have them all in one night" I thought he'd fall over from laughing. I smoke too, and everyone around me has been bugging me to quit since I found a lump. I did try prior to my first appointment at a clinic that I'd never go back to again - while we were driving there, I told my SIL my decision - she immediately bought me a pack and said - are you crazy - not today. Where I'm being treated now, they have discouraged me from quitting the smoking - they all said - now is not the time to do that.
Go figure, the dr saying don't worry about smoking. Who can figure out the medical profession?

I'll have a drink for you tonight, and for my dog who died suddenly last night. My wagon ride was boring so I decided to hop off!
Cheers, and here's to better days ahead.....

Traci, hugs my friend ... foobs suck .. this whole situation sucks. Glad you enjoyed your bro's birthday, awesome things are looking up for him!
Barbara, funny about your drinking conversation with your Onc! My doctors discouraged my smoking early in my dx also. They figure there was enough stress being dealt with, that was not a good one to add to the fray. Now 11 months later and I'm still smoking. I think about trying to quit a lot.
Jaybird, I'm so very sorry about your dog.
(((CY))), It's so good to see you here. I have that drink for you nightly! Hang in there girlfriend.

J, so sorry to hear about your puppy, was Avery Attached to him/her?
0 -
Thanks, all, for your sentiments. She seemed sick, but not sick enough to go to the emergency vet (it was like 8 p.m. when she started acting weird). I figured something was 'wrong' but she'd gotten into so many things in the yard over the years that I thought it was just another intestinal upset, coupled with the stress of my leaving for days on end the past three weeks and my mother's two dogs being here on and off for the past 2 months and I assumed she was mad and acting out (as she was wont to do).
Avery did play with her more than she plays with the cocker but only because the cocker runs away and the lab mostly tolerated Avery! The cocker is acting weird, but it's only because she knows the lab is gone. She did the same when my other cocker died oh so many years ago. My cocker is 15 1/2 and the lab around 9 so I just assumed the cocker would go first.....
It was a hard day at work, bittersweet with my giving notice and my friends being happy for me but then I had to figure out cremation details for the lab this coming Monday so not a good day really.
Now it's a glass (or two!) of wine and then I'm going to watch my friend, who is a part-time actor, on America's Most Wanted!
Cheers!

CY--good to see you! Chugging a cold one just for you!!!
Janis--sorry to hear about your dog. We have a lab/mix that is half human!! I have sworn that when he's gone, no more pets!! Looking forward to you posting your schedule. Bet you can connect up with someone here!!
Big hugggssss to all!!!

Janis - tough day for sure you had. What is your new job position that you get to fly? Are you a flight attendant or a pilot?
0 -
Angel, I wish I were a pilot (or got the pay anway!) but I'm only a flight attendant. :-/
My mother says my daughter is going to be a pilot but I think being a plumber would be more lucrative as plumbers charge the big bucks during non-business hours and rarely work weekends!
Well, cheers to all my drinkin' buds. The wine I had last night was mighty fine so I think I'll have some more tonight!
0 -
Janis, Plumbers sure are big business aren't they! lol My father wanted me to be a flight attendant. Instead I worked for the same company right out of high school for 23 years and never moved far from home! I think I deprived myself! lol I'm having some good Yellow Tail Cabernet/Merlot blend myself. Cheers all!

Cy - SO glad to see you here, girl! You KNOW I'll have a drink or two or so for you.
J - So sorry to hear about your dog. For us animal lovers, losing a pet is losing a family member.
You must be so excited about your new job! Flying....something different every day!
Traci - BF is always interested in real estate. And cars, boats, etc. His dream is to get his big-ass sailboat in the water and sail around the world. But I think that's still a few years off. I'm SO ready to leave my SUPER exciting job sitting in front of a PC all day for the evil health insurance co. I can't wait to meet you and Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! for a cocktail or two or so.
Vera - good to see you, stranger
Barbara - pull up a barstool and stay a while.
Charlene - waving to you...
I invinted a new drink. Raspberry vodka and Sprite Zero w/ a lime wedge. Very refreshing.
As much as I'd love to mix another drink, I need to go to bed, so I can drag my fat ass to Jazzercise at frickin' 5:15 AM. I've been doing it now for 2 months and no change in weight. Surely it can't be the alcohol?
Cheers

Well Donna took all of the words right outta my mouth, but I will repeat them, as they are my sentiments too!
Janis- I am so sorry about the loss of your dog, what a weird time for this to happen. I tell my one brother, who is petless, as I am with only my cat, she IS my family. I know it is hard for you. Hopefully, Avery is still too young to remember the real loss.
Cy- you kow I am thinking of you and praying every day.
Vera- Where you been? I guess, you could ask the same of me. Miss you.
Traci- I don't know if you and I have ever "talked" but I know Donna is looking forward to her FL trip and meeting up. Any friend of Casino Girl's has to be a friend of mine!
Junie- you gotta talk Sam into going to ES in April, isn't she a cousin's cousin of yours?
Hey Lynne- get one of Choc Martinis, you'll be wanting one as an after dinner drink, before dinner drink and one with breakfast!

Hey everyone. I've been so busy I haven't had much time to check in here. Working alot and now have a nasty cold. I think maybe I should just make me a hot toddy and sleep for a few days!
I checked out the beach Charlene but didn't have time to stop in. I guess I need to learn to slow down and make the time!!
Janis I too am sorry to hear about your dog. We have three and know how hard it is to lose one. They do become just like kids to us all.
Back to work!

Christine--I think Sam will try to make the Eureka Springs get-together if she is up to it! Actually, it is her husband who is a distant cousin of Brenda's husband. Brenda came to Las Vegas with me and met you all. I'm trying to get SG from Ohio to come, too.
Janis--what airline are you going to be with? I'm so excited for you!
later, drinking buds...I read the sad news about dear CY on another thread--gonna have one more cold one in her honor and pray for a miracle!
hugggssss, junie

I'm just so damn sad! I'd drink but I'm on Darvocet for my TMJ-related ear pain!
It sure the hell has been a shitty winter.....

Hey Donna! Come over to the Beach thread! You'll find some old friends hanging out there! Wow, you're going to meet Marsha? and Traci? I'm so jealous! That drink sounds delicious btw..
Lynne .. I hope you can make time to stop by the Beach. Heck it's just a hop, skip and a thread away! Hope to see you there!
Junie .. I'm raising my glass to CY tonight ... I bet a lot of us around this nation are doing that right now

I am back, thanks! I just got back last night, and have been trying to catch up on all the threads that I left hanging before I left.
The cruise was just great! I really needed to get away to some place warm and relax! Now that I am back, I am finding that maybe it wasn't long enough!!Since I did plenty of drinking on the cruise, I thought I would take a break from it for a few days....
Who am I kidding? I think I'll go to the store tomorrow and stock up again!! We ran out of Midori, so no more melon balls until I get back out to replenish the supply!
HarleyI too just read the news about CY, and I am just so sad!! beyond words!!

Harley - welcome back! You'll have to tell us all about your cruise! What cruise line? Where did you go? Sorry if you've already answered those questions...I forget...and I drink0

Hey drinking buds~
It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you our sweet sister Cheryl got her wings last night at 9:14 pacific time. Although I knew this was probably coming, I am still in shock. I met Cheryl at Pinkstock last summer, and she was such a beautiful soul. So sweet and always wanting to do things for others. I am blessed to have met her.
What a sad, sad day.
Maybe we can all meet here tonight and toast to our bud. I think she would appreciate that.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Cheryl. I did not know her but so many of you have spoke of her kindly. My heart goes out to all of you. I will have a drink for your friend this evening.

I 2nd Lynne. I do not think I ever had the pleasure of speaking with her but, I've read her posts and it is indeed a sad day.
My deepest sympathies to all who loved her.
I hate this disease.

Casino girl,
No, I don't recall mentioning much info. about my cruise, but I also drink... and ... I forget!!
The cruise line was Holland America, and it was really fun! We had great waitstaff in the restaurant, and excellent service while on the ship. We went to San Juan, PR, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Grand Turk, and Half Moon Cay, which is an island owned by Holland America in the Bahamas.
Our next cruise will be at Christmas and New Year's 2008/2009, on the Silver Sea cruise line's Silver Shadow... and all the drinks are FREE!!! That should be a real blast!
We really love cruises... it's great to just lay by the pool, and have waiters bring you drinks!
Cheers!
Harley0 -
Harley - sounds like your cruise was awesome! I love the Carribbean, and can only hope to wind up there someday for a looong time! Nothing like fun, sun, drinks and waitstaff to bring them to you!
