    Happy New Year!  :)

We rang in (not really - I was very tired and slumping on the sofa) the New Year with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. Yummy! Then we celebrated in another way.....   :o

He brought over a bottle of Moet but that will be drunk another time.

My wine buyer at work is going to get some of that $30 Rutherford Hill Cab in and I'm going to splurge and buy some. I'm going to try to save it for special occasions. (ha, ha)

Great tips on port, Kad! I have yet to open what I bought because port doesn't last long and I don't drink it often. Time to have (or go to!) a dinner party so I can share it. I've always had port with cheese but will certainly consider some chocolate next time!

Well, cheers to all and to all a great 2008!

    Happy New year drinking buds~

Hope everyone had a safe NYE.  BF grilled a couple of delicious steaks and we shared a bottle of BV Rutherford Cab.  Yummy indeed! We just hung out which was fine by me.

Here's a toast that we all enjoy a safe and healthy 2008!

    Cheers,

Bar in Arkansas is about to blow away!!!  We have been on the edge of tornadic activity all evening.  This is JANUARY???  lord help us this spring!!   Thinking CasinoGirl is just on the other edge of this bizarre storm--hope all is well there.   So far, just some wind/rain, and nothing on tv but weather updates.   DH has gone to bed but has our weather alert radio with him--it keeps blasting off and even two rooms away from it, it is driving me crazy--do I dare turn it off when I go to bed???

OMG--can hear the rain pounding--have never heard it before when I'm in the computer room....better shut this down--later........

    Hey Buds~

    Popping in for a quickie...

Junie - I was on the edge of the storm and got some rain, thunder & lightening, but nothing severe right here. Hope you found yourself a cocktail and hunkered down.

BF lives an hour away in Pryor, OK and they had "hurricane force winds".

Very bizzare weather for Jan for sure.  We should probably all have a drink.  Just because.

    Cheers,

    Reasons to drink (celebrate):

    1) Spring in January!  :) Just some rain here, no 'bad' weather to speak of. I hope you're all safe and sound.....

    2) Good sex! My new 'friend' is really good - and we like each other! I am currently a one-man woman. :)

    3) An all-clear from my onc today! I don't have to go back for six whole months!

    4) I cleaned my gutters today! Now it can rain or snow and I don't have to worry! (did I mention how much I love this weather?) :)

I hope all my drinkin' buds are well. I think I'll have to have some wine tonight, just because I'm in such a good mood.

    Cheers!

Bar is semi-open--we did near get blown away about 3 a.m.   It was raining sideways and the wind was horrific.   The house was literally shaking!   Was too scared to even pop open another ML!!!   We have lots of tree debris in the yard; patio furniture is all over-turned and blown all over the yard; deck furniture was blown up against the house...next-door neighbors have big tree down in their front yard.    Lots of trees down in area...but no personal injuries that we have heard of.    More info will be in tomorrow's paper, I hope.   Just several miles west and north of us got hit pretty hard--several people were killed in the Springfield, MO area.    We had to go to Bentonville today for dentist appt--saw lots of road debris and trees down.   Tomorrow, need to go check out marina and make sure boat is okay and drive by several friends' houses who are out of town.  Wow--that Mother Nature gal is one kick-ass bitc*!

Donna, glad the worst of it missed you!  And Jaybird--woo-hoo--lots of good news coming from you.   Having a toast to 6 months and a promising new relationship!!!  You go, girl!!!!

    Big hugs to all----junie

OK just to let ya'll know, (stealing from Laura)

I am PWLI (that's posting, while a lil' intixicated) I had a couple glasses of Bogle Chard while chatting live with Casino Girl (I forgot to tell her to pour a glass) Now I am so ready to finish this third one or pour it back into the bottle (lol) and go to sleep. Had an early a.m. and I am not used to those.

Kad, welcome. I too, think Chianti and Parmigiano Reggiano is one of the best food and wine marriages ever! YUM! For Port, it has to be Blue Cheese or Chocolate.

Janis- I think the fortified wines (Port, Marsala, Sherry, etc..) have a pretty long shelf life, Open it,maybe pump it and enjoy for months to come.

Happy 2008 Fellow Drinkers and Friends~

    Laura - PWI - I love it!

Christine - like you'd need to tell me to pour a glass of wine whilst on the phone with you Laughing

Janis - sounds like lots of good things going on right now for you, to you...Cool  when do you start flying again?

I'm so glad the days are starting to get a little longer.  I have so much more energy when there is more daylight.  The longer I'm up, the more I can drink LOL!

    Hey Drinkin' Buds!Tongue out

Well, my neighbor died last night - heart attack. He was 54 (?), very overweight and a smoker. I got home at 11 p.m. last night, just in time to see the paramedics take him to the hospital. He died like 90 minutes later. His wife is maybe 42 and his son is 8. It's weird. They've always been good neighbors. So, I guess, this drink is for him! Laughing

GC, I'm heading down to ATL this Monday night for 3 days of "Welcome back" crap, then back down there in February for 10 days for my re-qualification training. Bleck! I hope to be back flying in March sometime. I'll keep y'all posted!

As for a pic of Miss Avery, I cannot seen to get the scanner to scan but as soon as I do I'll post a pic.

    Cheers!

okay...gee two nights in a row...PWI...but I have an excuse...really! It's a good one! LOL I'm sipping a glass of Robert Mondavi Chardonnay...debating whether I should file a law suit against my ex-GYN who, for 5 years, missed my golf ball size tumor! Arghhhh...long story, but, hey...a girl's gotta do - what a girl's gotta do! Cheers...

HI Girls, just checkin' in....I only get one beer per night so I can still take my good ole percoset. I hope to god I can get off this pain medication soon, cuz I sure miss my drinks!! Sorry to hear about your ex GYN Laura. Jaybird, that's so sad about your neighbor. Our neighbor died like that a few years ago, also a smoker. He left behind his wife, and two young children (he was 49). So sad.

Okay, enough of sad things. Here is a joke for you all---I wouldn't post this just anywhere but......it sounds like you girls will allow me (I hope I don't offend anyone!!!!) Here goes:

Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around

the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum

speed on the long corridors. Because the poor woman was one sandwich

short of a picnic the other residents tolerated her and some of them

    actually joined in.

One day Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky

Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched. "STOP!" he shouted in a

firm voice. "Have you got a license for that thing?"

Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper and

held it up to him. "OK" he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall.

As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, weird Harold

popped out in front of her and shouted "STOP! Have you got proof of

    insurance?"

Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coast er and held it up to

him. Harold nodded and said "On your way, Ma'am."

As Ethel neared the final corridor, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of

her, Butt- Naked, and holding his "You-Know-What" in his hand.

"Oh, good grief," yelled Ethel, "Not that Damn Breathalyzer Test again!"

    Cheers!!! Anne

Jay - Oh cripe...so sad about your neighbor. But WOO HOO...glad about your new man...If you ever want to meet for dinner...let me know.

donna - FUNNESTESS - shut up! LOL I love it...

Anne - If I live to be old and gray...I'm changing my name to Ethel!

Jay, anne, donna, christine, junie, et al:

You girls are tooooooooooooo funny! Hope you don't mind me popping in AGAIN! LOL But I need some advice, and I could not think of a better place than here to post it:

Okay...dh and I have a race car. We race all summer long with a group of guys. They are ALL really nice! Very respectful, very sweet guys. Dh is in a discussion board with all of them. Just like here, but it's for gear-heads. One of the guys posted that a group of them are meeting tomorrow afternoon. Because it's winter and no one can race, cabin fever is setting in, so they just want to hang out and "talk cars". Dh, seeing as how I actually race our race car, wants me to go with him. He posted a message, asking if the guys if they would mind and they all know me and they all said "NO PROBLEM...of course she's welcome". BUT...they're meeting at  H O O T E R S! All of the guys know that I had bc, because the reason my dh beefed up the car in the first place, was because I was dx'd and I raced it as a form of therapy after Mast, etc. (double Mast. no reconstruction). So, I guess I feel funny about going there. I've never been there...I have these crazy visions of guys guzzling beer and pinching the waitresses boobs and telling jokes about boobs, and laughing about boobs! LOL But then on the other hand...I'm thinking I should just slap my largest Amoenas Prosths in my sexiest bra, put on my tightest t-shirt and just have a good time! LOL

    I'm not PWI...not now atleast!

Laura, the last time I was at a Hooters (many, many years ago) I don't believe the waitresses (I think they only have waitresses, no waiters) were 'required' to have big boobs so maybe you're fretting for nothing? I think they just wear the tight t-shirt, short shorts and nylons but I could be wrong. You're such a pretty and vivacious woman so I have NO idea why you're worried!

I happen to be free tomorrow night so if you want to make plans to meet up just let me know. I'm working but will be available after 7 p.m. I'm always up for girl talk!  :)

Yes, so very sad about my neighbor. I still can't believe it and I know she'll be totally lost without him. I have a will but I haven't changed it since Avery got here - guess I should do that soon, eh?

Well, tonight it's two quick glasses of Brownstone cab and then to sleep as tomorrow is another busy work day - blech!

    Cheers!

It's been awhile since I've been on - had to read back on my favorite thread.  I see we have a few more fellow drinkers - Cheers to all.

It's 11:30 and finally able to have a drink.  Been working some long frickin hours.  When any of you receive your nifty W-2 forms - say a pray of thanks to the idiots that get to print them (and hope they haven't been drinking before printing them)  I have employed my dh to stuff envelopes.  His charge - sex.  What a bargain!!

Junie - hope you weathered the storms.  DH is looking at a convention in Vegas in June this year instead of Nov - wanta come???

Laura - I'm not PWI but working on it!!

Anne - loved the joke - that damn breath alyzer test

Christine - thanks for the Xmas card - I failed again this year.  Too much end of year tax crap to deal with.

Donna & Liz - we really should meet up sometime in one of the casino's south of my border.

Janice - still waiting on a new picture of your precious baby. btw how is that toilet lock working out?

    CHEERS!!!

    Hi Buds~

I'm fighting the flu right now, so no drinking.  Cry  And it's BF Mark's big 5-0 today dammit!  We have reservations tonight for a nice dinner and comedy club afterwards, but it's doubtful we'll go now.  BUT - Tamiflu is a wonder drug.  After only 2 pills I feel human again.  Last night I had chills, headache, bone aches, 101 fever....haven't been that sick in years and years.

Laura - I've been to Hooters a couple of times, it's been several years, but I was amazed at the number of families with small children eating there!  Of all the choices, why in God's name would a husband & wife take their kids to Hooters?   As far the waitresses with big boobs, yes, they're there, but I wouldn't let it bother me.  Like Janis said, you're a gorgeous woman, and even though you may not have the perky boobs of a 20-something Hooter's waitresses, you've got something much more valuable and attractive - a BRAIN!

Put on your tight shirt with your sexy bra and prosth....then you'll have boobs AND a brain!

Okay - gonna go lie down now.  All this typing has worn me out!! LOL!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your words or encouragement. As it turned out...I slapped my biggest Amoena Prosths into my Mast bra, put on a really tight t-shirt, walked out of our bedroom - and the first thing my dh said was, "NICE HOOTERS!" I cracked up... we had a good time. I too,was surprised at how many "families" were dining there. So, I'm glad I went. We talked about the new and faster engine we're having built. And it was great to hear that our next "meet" will be at the dragstrip on MARCH 25th...yay...I can't wait to beat the fastest car there! LOL

    casino girl - hope you're feeling better!  :  (

    Thanks girls! Cheers!

Sam--you're working too hard!!!  Probably no Vegas in June--that's when we do our annual get-away to Tunica!!  Unless one of us starts winning soon, we need to drastically STOP our little gambling jaunts, including playing keno in a local bar!   hmmmm, what's that 1-800 number??

Laura--glad you enjoyed Hooters.  I've never been, but have heard they have great food.

All--check out the get-together thread--other interest expressed for a spring meet-up in Eureka Springs, AR--some of us here had talked about one before the holidays.    Maybe we can get something going!

I'll chase the wild critters away (we had a little deer in the yard tonight that just would NOT leave!) and open up the outside bar!

Donna--hope you're feeling better--I've been fighting the sinus infection from hell for almost 2 months, so know what miserable feels like!

But, the ML is tasting good!

    huggggsssss to all!!!

    What??? No one is drinking?????

I just got back from cold Atlanta. Although it was a warmer there than in Chicago it wasn't much warmer!  :(

But all is well. My first real time away from Miss Avery was harder on me than it was on her! I'll be back flying in March and I cannot wait until I give my 2 weeks notice to Whole Foods!

I'm having a little wine tonight just to chill out a bit (we were very delayed into Chicago) as I have to work Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue. I swear I'll be home more (working less?) as a flight attendant! :)

    Cheers!

Oh, but you needed the convertible more--to lifet your spirits!!!! I am turning 50 next month (valentine's day) and my hubby has hinted that I need a jeep wrangler. I LOVE those things! I want a yellow one, lifted WAY up high with huge speakers and a really loud sound system so I can bopping on down the road, with the top off LOL. I guess it's my mid-life crisis!!!!! It's been cold here in Oregon. It even snowed a bit today which is unusal for the Portland area. Boy, I wish I could have a drink. But these damn expanders are killing me today so it's another percoset night for me. Will I ever get back to having a drink at night????

Cheers to those of you lucky enough to have a drink!

    Anne

PS I so would love to come to Eureka Springs but I have to teach. With two boys in college, we need every dime!!!

Im glad I found this thread.  I like to have a glass of wine at night, but have felt so guilty about it.  Thought I was hurting myself.  I think I will stop by here after work tonight.  On Fridays I allow myself more than one glass of wine.

The wine relaxes me.  Im still finding it so hard to forget about breast cancer and just have a little fun.

I have a question for all you wine drinkers.  I enjoy a glass or two in the evening of red wine.  A sister is all over my case about it because of a phytoestrogen in the skin of red grapes that makes red wine a no-no for my hormone positive bc.  I've had all my female body parts removed and am on Tamoxifen.  I say screw it, I've lost enough and I am going to enjoy my wine dammit!

still, a little part of me wonders if I need worry about it?  what say you?

Don't mean to get too serious on such a fun thread, you ladies are a hoot!

Okay ladies this is a confession of sorts, I had my first cosmopolitan last Sunday and I loved it.  I thought it was a sweet drink which I don't like I'm a red wine, brandy, or beer sort of gal, but now I have to get some Grand Marnier and make a pitcher of them they are good and I already have cranberries soaked in vodka. They were a gift and I could never fiquire out what to do with them, well now I know... it's going to be a Cosmo weekend for me.Pearl49
