Good morning friends, I hope everyone is doing well on this Friday. It is a TGIF for sure and was just feeling really frustrated at work yesterday. It is a good thing I have today off as I need it. I was feeling I might say something I shouldn't to more than one person. Self check to step away from the chaos. I need a happiness break and will get one today. One of my cousins from the east coast and her husband are here in town and we are heading to Santa Fe for the day and going to play tourist guide!

Couple interesting things from the week. I went to see 70s pop/rock singer Todd Rundgren on Monday night. I know some of you oldsters like me will remember him (not one person on my young team at work knows who he is, lol). Always loved his music and his voice is still good, although he struggled with some of the high notes. He always had a huge range in his voice. But it improved as the evening went on and the show was pure entertainment. He did a lot of remakes of one off songs and the range of styles was impressive. This is one of my favorite songs of his in the link below, and he was wearing the same outfit Monday night, lol. I love my 70s music!

I also did a major hair cut change this week. My hair has been growing in more off the AI drugs (off them 9 months now) and the sides and back are much thicker, top still a bit thinner up top. So I went much shorter to even things out and think going forward, shorter hair may be where I stay. The reality is that even with some estrogen back, my hair may always be thinner than in earlier days. It looks a thousands times better and we did highlights too and love the whole new look.

Goldie- congrats on the $250 win! Your holiday sounds like it will be nice and sometimes I do non traditional meals too for Thanksgiving. I am going to a music friend's house on Thanksgiving to spend it with her and her family. They are catering it from Boston Chicken (yum) and I am going to bring some red chil deviled eggs and also bringing some white wine (will bring along some of my french whites I picked up this summer). Time to use those up and will be restocking those over the holiday too. Thanks for asking. I hope your time with family is enjoyable!

NM- I sent you that storm we had here on Monday and you are welcome, lol! Hopefully this is better to have before next weekend given the holiday and travels. How are things at work? Glad you got your studded tires on, winter seems like it is coming early this year?

Cami- thinking of you and the family and hoping things are getting better day by day for everyone Heart

Be safe out there people and see you again soon!

    Good Mornin' Ladies,

I'm sorry it's been so long, oh not for u but for me. My frustration level is over the top. I didn't really Ketchup yet but I hope everyone is doing OK.

Of course I know about the weather u r having Kim, it's on the news and we got some tail end of it so we had a couple of inches, not much but it melted then more came---always sneaking into the night. So I know Pearl is all set for u Kim.

Leslie had another operation Wed. of this week. Marty is working like mad and so tired and Joey seems so sad---this has to stop soon. it just keeps on going on. Thank u for prayers sent, that's always nice to hear. This house is like a medical supply place, filled with all the supplies when the nurse comes every other day for Les. Well, at least her nose is fixed, it better be. If u saw the One ""good" boob he did it's disgusting, it's centered off to the side so horribly Basically the on ly time I'm on the puter is for work and I graze sometimes, but that's about it.

    LUBS U ALL

Jazzy, "hello--it's me. I don't want to work, just want to bang on the drum all day..."

Aching all over from rehearsals. Light wet snow flurries on & off yesterday, but gone by the time I got off the train downtown. Supposed to snow tomorrow morning, switching to "wintry mix" after that. Natch, tomorrow's the day I have to haul my costumes down to the Bar Assn., and since I'm back in UGGs as of tomorrow a.m., I have to haul shoes too. And I wear a trenchcoat in two scenes, so add a garment sleeve to my suitcase. In years past, I bit the bullet, drove down and paid the insane parking rates. But starting last year, that Sat. prelim. dress rehearsal coincided with the Disney Festival of Lights parade at sunset (as it does again tomorrow), which is a freaking traffic nightmare. Because of street closures and traffic re-routing, it triples my commute time home (and that doesn't factor in the frustration). I'll take the train home--it won't be crowded because all the crowds will be headed into the Loop rather than out; and I can leave all my stuff at the Bar Assn. till the Sun. aft. Thanksgiving, so nothing to schlep home.

Had the 2018 Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau last night--fruity, uncomplicated, OK for what it is. Party after rehearsal tonight, but I probably won't be staying very long because tomorrow's an early (and stressful) day. And party wines tend to be "meh," so will just have water.

Cami, it hurts my heart so, to hear you talk about Joey being sad. I wish I had some advice to give, but I don't. Only my love for all of you and a virtual hug. I assume the surgery Les had was for her nose? Continued prayers for your family.

Sandy, that sounds like quite the ordeal. Glad you didn't have to "schlep" anything home last night!

NM, glad you got the tires on Pearl and hoping for no more issues with her!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Well, yesterday's snow turned out to be not so bad as expected. It stayed all snow, that was helpful. The visibility got a bit difficult at times as the wind picked up towards the end, but overall just a snowy day. When I was growing up this would not have been called a snow STORM, it would have been called snow. School would not have been cancelled. Times do change. Sadie had a good time running around in the snow when I got home.

Goldie--yes, ticks can make a dog sick.Sadie tested positive for Lyme disease a couple years ago. Fortunately Lyme is not a big problem for dogs like it is for people. She didn't even need any treatment. I've got a tick remover gizmo, it looks like a spoon with a "V" cut into to, slide the V under the tick and pull it straight out so the head comes with it. Easy and quick and I don't have to touch the ugly thing. But I can do the same thing with my fingernails or tweezers if I have to. Pretty neat that your DH won that much while you were in the potty!I like the idea of a roast for Turkey day dinner! My Mom is still into the cooking a big traditional meal for Turkey day and Christmas. I still think my favorite part of the traditional dinners is the left overs.I LOVE turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwiches smothered in gravy!

Jazzy--Thanks for the snow, LOL!Got enough now, so you can send the next batch to someone else. I didn't recognize the name, but I do recognize many of the songs! I bet that was a great concert. So glad you have a look you love with your hair! Your holiday with friends sounds like a really good time, and a great way to enjoy those white wines. It does seem like winter is coming early, but then I think back on all the years I went Trick or Treating in a costume over a snowsuit, with snow on the ground, and I wonder if it's all in my perception. I do think this snow is going to stay, unlike the last few years when the snow didn't stay until well after the holidays. Somehow the cold weather is more bearable if there is snow on the ground, not sure why. Perception, again, I suppose. Work is feeling odd. The complaint to HR went through, the Director has talked with me about it, and the overt bullying has stopped, but the underlying feeling is uncomfortable despite his saying directly that he doesn't want to lose me.The director and 2 clinical managers want me to do some precepting with new staff, but precepting is the Bully CM's best friend's special project. I've heard through the grapevine that new staff are asking for someone else to precept them. The grapevine is also humming about "big changes" coming soon. A couple of people have mentioned that they would like to see me working as a Clinical Manager. One CM keeps asking me to consider coming back to work full time. And there is total silence about the transfer to the other office.I am so not sure what to think just at the moment.

Cammy--Hugs to you and everyone in the family. This is so hard for all of you. Praying for all of you. What's going on with Les's nose?

Chi--wow, sounds complicated to plan transportation around the rehearsals and other events! Sounds like you have it all worked out.

Goldie--Pearl should be in good shape now, I just need to get her registered and inspected. They did the inspection but failed her cuz the registration is overdue. Mechanically, everything looked good. They also did some recall work--I didn't even know about the recalls. Still not sure what they were all about.Got two tire pressure sensors replaced, so I'm not looking at the "low tire pressure" icon all the time, which is nice.

OOH--what a pretty DOTD!I think I would add peppermint schnapps, or cinnamon schnapps. Or crème de cacao. Or Dr. McGillicuddy's Raw Vanilla. The possibilities are endless!

Good news today was that we wrapped up rehearsal shortly after 4pm. Bad news was that the trains (espec. Red Line) were nearly as much of a fustercluck as the traffic. Even if I could have handled the Jackson St. subway station's stairs, State St. is along the parade route and sidewalks were packed. So I opted for the Brown Line, which fully-accessible dual-elevator station I prefer. Elevator from street to mezzanine was working; but the one from the mezzanine to platform was broken, so up the stairs I went. That train wasn't so bad, as it wasn't very crowded and some fellow castmates & I had a nice conversation.

Got off at Fullerton to change to the Red Line--though I had to wait only 1 minute, it was packed, even the first car. Had to give a couple of millennials the stink-eye before one picked up his backpack and let me sit next to him. We were halfway home when the conductor said, "Because of delays due to longer trains for the Disney Festival of Lights, we'll be running express from Wilson to Granville." YES! Express to my stop, and I have a seat! Um, no. We pulled into Wilson, and she got on the P.A. and said "Correction--we will be running express to Loyola instead; next local train is 10 minutes away." Loyola is one stop past Granville, and like Granville is a single platform station. So of course I stayed aboard to double back one stop at Loyola rather than freeze on the Wilson platform for 10 minutes.

Wrong move: turns out that though Loyola is indeed a single-platform bi-directional station, it's one loooooooong platform. Northbound trains (such as the one I was on) stop at the south half of the platform; southbound ones (such as the one I needed to double back a stop) stop only at the north half. And in otder to get from the south to the north half, it was necessary to take stairs or elevator down to street level, walk north, and take stairs or escalator back up. And of course, the escalator was out of service. Stairs again.

Now, when I take the train downtown from Granville, I like to be in the last car, in order to be at the right spots in the Brown or Red Line HC-accessible stations. And for the reverse journey home, I like the first car. Fat lot of good that did me at Loyola, though. By the time I got off the northbound train, walked all the way north to the elevator down to the street and took the stairs back up to the southbound north end of the platform, the southbound train was about to leave--had to dash to make it...into the first car, which let me off at the wrong end of the Granville platform. (To put things into perspective, my street is exactly halfway between both ends of the Granville platform--and the entrance & exit are both at Granville St., which is >2 bl. north of me). So at least I got my steps in today!

DOTD, with country-fried steak and mashed potatoes (don't judge) at the Fireside, was Veuve du Vernay sparkling brut rosé.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Bright and sunny today, but cold. Oh well, such is winter in Maine. Went to a bean suppah with Mom and Dick yesterday, it was a particularly good one, one with lots of casseroles in addition to beans. I like baked beans, but I get tired of them. Sadie is curled up in the recliner snoozing while I play ketchup on the computer.

Chi--The more you talk about the trains and such the more complicated it sounds to me! I'm glad you can manage all that, and deal with the last minute changes, too! I'd be totally confused. I bet you did get your steps in! And there is nothing wrong with mashed potatoes.

Good morning friends and happy pre-Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is doing okay on this Sunday before the big holiday season begins. The weather in NM is typical November with daytime highs in the 50s and lows around freezing or there abouts. No more moisture on the horizon after the storm this past Monday. I heard the storm that was here earlier this week made quite the mess along the east coast?

I had a great visit with the fam on Friday. Had a good time in Santa Fe with delicious lunch, trip to the Georgia O'Keefe museum, a few other spots and a tad of shopping. I was left window shopping while they went back to the car to drop something off and ended up with a cute pink poncho as a result, lol! We had a spectacular sunset on the drive home that went on and on and on.

Going to be working full days Mon and Tues, half days wed and fri. Got to get some things put together to send some gifts out for Xmas before December hits (deadlines galore with work) and will start my Xmas cards. I am paring that down considerably to just a few people I keep in touch with regularly.

NM- your meal with mom and Dick sounded tasty. NM does a lot with pinto beans and black beans so if you are a fan of beans (good source of protein), then check out some recipes there. I am a fan of black bean casserole myself. How much snow were you left with?

I like that drink and bought some apple cider marinade at the store yesterday. I got a small cranberry stuff pork roast for today and have it marinating in the sauce before I roast it. Going to roast some purple potatoes and brussel sprouts with it and sprinkle in some smoked bacon too. Are you hungry yet?

ChiSandy- as much as I love public transportation, finding your way through it in the cities is sometimes the challenge. Whoops, I got on the wrong train or it does not get me close enough to where I need to be. I hope the performances are going well? Or are you just in rehearsal mode right now?

Hoping everyone has safe travels if you are going by plane, train or automobile this coming week to see family and/or friends. I am glad to be in town for the holidays, never a fan of holiday travel.

Happy Thanksgiving week to my American friends and family too :) I am checking in to say I'm home, getting my 'wind' back! This is my DH, Bob, me and Koala at Curumbin Sanctuary Australia; one of many fascinating, exciting adventures we went on during our 5 week stay! I now know for certain why my son wants to live there, it is full of fun things to do, indoors and outdoors, wonderful fresh local produce, weather that was warm enough that we could enjoy coffee and breakfast outdoors every morning - I could go on and on. We discovered many lovely pubs, wineries and places to imbibe in favorite beverages as well! Glad to be home in some ways, looking forward to a return trip in a couple of years! Cheers! Janice

NM, I would so love to go to a bean suppah! Sometime you will have to take a few pics of what you get. I love just about any kind of bean. Mmmmmmmm,Apple Pie on the rocks.

Jazzy, sounds like you had a very nice time with family. Is your sister anywhere near those fires in CA? Don't remember her name. And how did those blueberry muffins go over? That dinner sounded very yummy, and I'll bet it was!

Teka, funny cartoon. No TG left overs here, not having turkey!

Janky, cute picture and now we can put a face to the name. Welcome home, glad you had such a nice visit with plenty of things to do. Yes, more pictures please, we love pictures.

Had a guest for one night, so now I have to wash bedding for my step daughter and her hubby. DH has an appt with doctor today to discuss his Pulmanary Calcium test. Will pick up a few more food things for my upcoming dinners.

Hi friends- just quick hi before I head out to my short but busy work week!

Goldie- my sister is okay, not near the fires fortunately, but they have had some close to one of their homes during other fires. Thanks for asking.

The blueberry muffins were a big hit with the young men. I gave some of the left overs to my cousins for their road trip. I plan to make some more for Xmas gift treats, as they were a big hit!

Janky- welcome back. Sounds like you had an awesome time. Lots of time change to adjust to now. Hoping you get settled in this week!

NM- the dinner yesterday came out great. I will post a picture next from my phone!

Welcome home, Janice. Australia is definitely on my "bucket list."

Jazzy, you're making me drool. (Leftovers for dinner here--mostly veggies). We're in the rehearsal phase for the show, but as of last night on Thanksgiving break. As for my folk music performances, I have nothing booked--most venues book pretty far out and truthfully, it was a crapshoot for a long time whether I'd ever be able to play again. I need to decide just how much expense and inconvenience "up with which I am willing to put" (grammar is a bee-yotch) before I start booking again. My singing partner is the one who books our festival gigs, and as for the duo we no longer even open our guitar cases for less than union scale.

No drinking tonight--had champagne and Beaujolais Nouveau last evening at my friend's annual Sunday-Before-Thanksgiving "brunch" (ran from 1-10pm; got there about 5). Spent much of tonight on the phone with my cousin and online trying to unravel some info we've found out about our family tree. Seems we had a second cousin in Paris and never even knew it; he died unmarried and without surviving siblings or kids. We were contacted by a French genealogist hired by the "notaire" (unique to France, a gov't-appointed estate, probate & real property att'y.) to determine heirs and finalize the estate. Working out who gets what & how much (due to the number of slices of a modest pie, not a helluva lot but not "bupkis" either), but tracing our roots has unearthed some surprises (a coat of arms for one of our family surnames--a name we had no idea existed!), and ancestors & third cousins in countries we hadn't even considered. Let's just say that when it comes to genealogy, especially for Jews, the pros can dig up stuff that not even Ancestry.com or the Mormon databases can figure out.

Our gal in Paris is worth every penny of her fee, considering how much about our heritage we're learning. It's a terrible feeling, thinking you might go to your grave not only not knowing enough about where & whom you came from, but also taking what little info you know along with you into eternity. I used to watch shows like "Who Do You Think You Are" and think wistfully, "if only I had history that traceable and could afford someone to do it--or be so famous that a TV show would seek me out and do it for free." Now our kids (and grandkids in the case of my first cousins) will have it all in writing, and soon hopefully in photos as well. Now, to try to find out about my mom's side...

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Another day with some snow in the forecast. A couple of schools have closed already, and it isn't even snowing yet! Things sure have changed since I was a school child. Sadie has gotten up, gone out, and is now curled up in the recliner snoozing. So wish I could be snoozing, too!Long meeting day at work, then going out with a new nurse. She went with me yesterday, she's really interesting to talk to, started out in the Air Force as a medic, got put through nursing school by Uncle Sam, and has worked in a lot of places in the country.

Jazzy--I never thought about taking pics at the suppahs, will have to start doing that!No suppahs this coming weekend, too close to T-day. Can't wait to see your dinner pic. Hmm, looks like the next post should be a pic but all I see is a pic icon.

Chi--Wow, finding relatives and family tree branches all over must be kind of fun! I imagine the knowledge is actually more valuable than the slice of the estate pie anyone gets.

Jazzy, that roast and brussels look amazing, 2 thumbs up! Glad your sister is ok, that fire is just some horrible news. Me thinks PG & E are in serious trouble!!!

Sandy, interesting info on your family tree.

NM, at first I thought you were talking about Sadie, going with you and nice to talk to until I got to the air force, medic and such...gave meeself a little chuckle!

Physical Therapy for DH today and last minute shopping for TG guests. Pretty uneventful at Dr's yesterday, nothing to be done about the heart except to continue treating other issues, RA, high BP and he was put on a statin, said to help break up some of the plaque in the heart. He says he wants to make sure that if I get sick he can take care of me, I said with all these issues you are concerned about, high BP, plaque in arteries, RA, back, leg, kidneys....I said it looks like I'm going to need to take care of you. Told the doctor I think he's turning into a hypochondriac!

Since we are doing jello shots, how about these!

    Pumpkin/Cranberry Jello Shots

    See the source image

    Ingredients

    • Cranberry layer:
    • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cranberry gelatin
    • 1 C. boiling water
    • 1/2 C. Southern Comfort
    • 1/2 C. citrus-infused vodka
    • Pumpkin layer:
    • 1 (1 oz.) pkg. gelatin
    • 1/3 C. canned pumpkin
    • 1/4 C. granulated sugar
    • 1/8 tsp. allspice
    • 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
    • 1/2 C. vodka
    • 1/2 Tbs. cold heavy cream
    • whipped cream, for layering

    Directions

Place 1 C. cold water in the top of a double boiler and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Let it sit for 3 minutes. Heat the gelatin after 3 minutes over a gentle simmer until the granules are dissolved. Add the pumpkin, sugar, and spices. Heat, stirring occasionally, until the pumpkin and sugar are melted. Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine the vodka with 1/4 C. cold water and heavy cream. Whisk in the pumpkin mixture and divide it in half. Put half the mixture into 8 large glasses.Put the other half into a pan for later. Chill glasses and pan until firm, at least 4 hours. Top the layer in the glass with a layer of whipped cream.

For the cranberry layers, place the gelatin in a heatproof bowl. Add the boiling water and stir until the gelatin is dissolved. Add in the Southern comfort and vodka. Stir well. Pour the mixture into a pan and chill until firm, about 2 to 4 hours.

Once the cranberry jello is chilled, scoop some of it into the glasses with the pumpkin jello. Top with a layer of whipped cream. Repeat the layers, using both jellos, until glasses are full or you run out of jello.

Try Aunt Sandy's homemade NyQuil: 2 ea. Tylenol & Sudafed washed down with an Armagnac chaser. Follow it up 4-6 hr. later with weak herb, Constant Comment or Earl Grey tea with a generous dollop of honey and half a shot of Jack Daniel's.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Turkey Day Eve! Sadie and I are celebrating with 3 inches of new snow. Very pretty. And now it's getting very cold. Winter has arrived. Looking forward to Turkey day tomorrow, going to spend the day with Mom and Dick. Got a lead on a part time teaching job that I'm following up on.

Cammy--Pearl is running really well again, now, seems we'll be together a while longer! Still praying for all of you.

Goldie--glad you got a chuckle! Oh, wow, look at those Pumpkin/Cranberry Jello Shots!YUM!

    Janky--Yeah!

Jazzy--that sounds like a wonderful cold medicine!

    Chi--that's a great recipe, too!

Jazzy, it has taken me 3 weeks to get over my cold! I blame it on the FU pills and compromised immune system. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Janky again, so good to see you and I hope you are able to visit again soon.

NM, I thought those pumpkin shots looked amazing too. They look a little involved tho. Might be fun to make with a few friends? Enjoy your dinner with mom and Dick. Snow....YUCK! Suppose to be 58 here today and is usually warmer than what they say.

Will be putting a couple of roasts in the crockpot today.

NM, I have some romaine lettuce here, the red one and have been eating it on BLT's. How much would one have to eat if it had e. coli? Was going to put it in a 7 layer bean dip, but now I'm not sure. Like I said, we have been eating it for at least a week, if not longer.

Last night, DOTD at Cellars was a Syrah-Grenache red blend from the Corbières region of France (with gorgonzola-spinach meatloaf, mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and lightly sautéd green beans).

Unfortunately, I had NO sleep last night. Took a half-dropper of CBD oil. Put my night and morning pills into their respective shot glasses, then fed the rather insistent kitties their wet food. I knew I had P.T. at 9:15, so I set an alarm for 7:30, got into bed at just before 1am...and tossed and turned all night, with the music from the Bar Show running through my brain as earworms, twinges of joint pain, pulsatile tinnitus, tickly throat. By 7:30 I knew I was in no shape to drive to P.T. (a "bonus" session anyway), so I cancelled. Tried to go back to sleep till 10 am so I could make my 11:45 mani-pedi, but no luck falling asleep. In fact, the spinach in the meatloaf was "doing its thing."

Came downstairs to take my morning pills and...my evening pill glass was full! No wonder I couldn't sleep! I hadn't taken my melatonin, antihistamine, Baclofen and half-tab of Xanax, not to mention Dexilant (that tickly throat was doubtless reflux), magnesium (joint & muscle pain). Knew that getting behind the wheel would still be a bad idea, so I took a Lyft down (and half the ride was spent trying not to have....well, you know). Got to the salon, and the bathroom was occupied. The five minutes I had to wait were the longest of my life. Almost canceled the "pedi" part because of the difficulty of getting up and going to the loo with my feet soaking, So we did the mani first, and by the time that was done my tummy had calmed down.

Took another Lyft back, gave the cats their kibble, changed into yoga pants & T-shirt and tried to sleep. Nope. Happy wanted to cuddle and snuggle, so I let him. Then Gordy came over for a little while and brought in the mail. Among all the catalogs and charity appeals was a white envelope from the IL Dept. of Public Health. I gently bent it--and half of the contents were rigid. YESS--my MMJ card came through! (In case you're wondering, it looks just like an IL driver's license--made sure to put it in a separate card slot in my wallet). Of course, by then the dispensary was closed for the holiday. Had some water and an egg. For dinner, I had some Twining's marigold-jasmine green tea (the kind that comes as a little ball that opens up into a flower) with just enough raw honey to take the tannic edge off; and last night's leftovers. That & more water (and my pills!) are all I'm having tonight. (Hoping among those pills won't have to be Imodium).

Bob went to the movies down at Chicago Ridge Mall near his office by himself (hope he's seeing something I didn't want to) because I'm in no shape to go out in the cold to see a movie. Dinner res. is at 4 tomorrow, all I have to set up is the coffee & tea service, potent potables, and some cookies for those coming over here afterward. So I can sleep in as late as I want--and take whatever will help me do that.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thanksgiving! Sadie and I are leaving for Mom's pretty soon, need to find a store that's open and pick up cranberry sauce, Mom forgot to get during the after holiday sales last year. There's always something she needs me to stop and get on the way down, it's gotten to be a tradition. Gotta love family traditions.

Goldie--If you've been eating off the romaine for a week you are probably fine, although I might pass on putting it in the dip or anything that might sit at room temperature for any length of time. How much you'd have to eat to get sick depends on how healthy your immune system is and how many bacteria are on the lettuce. Keeping the lettuce in the fridge helps keep the bacteria from multiplying, rinsing it off before eating is also really helpful.

Jazzy--don't those deviled eggs look wonderful!

Chi--oh my, taking the morning pills at night is not fun! No wonder you didn't sleep! And of course the MMJ card would come when the dispensary is closed for a holiday weekend. Sigh. I need to get some of those tea balls that open up into a flower, sounds so pretty~

    The Frozen Turkey Cocktail

The Frozen Turkey Cocktail is a sweet adult dessert/beverage that is just so delicious. Serve with a straw, or even better, a spoon, and you'll love the result. Delicious!

    Serves: 2

    Ingredients

    • 1 pint butter pecan ice cream, slightly softened
    • 2.25 ounce (about 1½ shots) Wild Turkey bourbon
    • 1.5 ounce (1 shot) Kahlua
    • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce (store bought is fine)

    Instructions

    1. Place the ice cream, bourbon and Kahlua in a blender and blend until slightly pureed and smooth.
    2. Pour into two glasses and drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
    3. Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving friends! I hope you all have a nice day planned whether you are spending it with family, friends, alone or any combo. Let the holiday season begin.

My cold is pushing through. I worked from home yesterday and it made everything a lot better. Went to bed early, slept better and going to take it easy this morning before I go to dinner. Turns out the friend who invited me said they are all in various stages of colds too, mostly waning like mine. I made the eggs you saw above and bringing a couple nice french whites for dinner today. Beyond that, I plan to just veg out this morning and read until I have to go to their house at 1 p.m.

I got some nice news that one of my BFFs that moved to Denver this summer is in town tomorrow. We are planning on a late lunch early happy hour. Will be great to see her, and hope to get up there to visit her sometime in the beginning of 2019 now that she is getting more settled.

I got some early Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping done last night. I just have a few holiday consumable gifts to buy and got those ordered last night. Everything else is done and the other small exchanges I do going in the mail by the end of the weekend. I am going to start my holiday cards this weekend but going to reduce that to the very essentials. End of the year deadlines with work are heavy this year so I am simplifying a lot.

ChiSandy- congrats on getting the mary jane card. I hope it helps on all fronts. Hope you can get some rest and have a nice dinner out later today.

Goldie- so good to hear your dinner was good yesterday and more yummies for today. Enjoy your time with family today.

For anyone going through treatment, I was there this time of the year six years ago. I was between surgery and rads and went to spend a simple day with friends. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself to do what you normally do, you just can't. Hopefully this can be a time to spend time with friends and family in an easy way, and to also rest.

Wishing all my sisters here a good day. Working tomorrow and will pop back in on Sunday!
