Back from my nieces wedding. OMG, what a beautiful wedding and fun times. Was up until 2:30 am! Can't tell you when theoo last time that ever happened! So very tired today. I'll post a few pics when I can, and then will delete them, as it's a public forum. AND, have to figure out how to post them on FB from my phone!
Hope everyone is doing well! Sue, I hope you are too.
Love n Huggles...........ME!

Hi friends - lots of outdoor time this weekend

Oh I cant ketchup so forgive me. Leslie isback in the hospital, Marty's all screwed up and I'm supposed to see the heart Dr. today---wow way to many Drs. and I'm tired of all this. Dara Leslie reminds me of you all the time now, with that big old opening not healing and now it's harder for Marty to heal and all Joey is trying to do his best keeping up with everyone else. But he's been so good at taking care of all of us, I know I always say this but his heart is so big, so far he's still a good kid. This thing is going on and on and Les is suffering a lot---something has to be done soon, very soon. OK I'll let u gals know what's going on as the day progresses.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day!Back to work for me, but only 3 days this week. I keep having dreams about moving to a new place, last night it was a dorm room, the other night it was an apartment.I'm hoping that it's a message that the transfer to the other office will happen soon, but it doesn't look like that's the case.Or maybe it's a message to look for something else entirely? I'm sure it will come clear eventually. Sadie is regularly stealing the pillows on the bed at night, maybe I'm dreaming about moving to a bigger bed?
Celia--sounds like a great wine, and a great trip!
Chi--so nice to be able to pair up a work trip with a little vacay time. The Sancerre sounds very yummy.
Goldie--So glad you had such a good time! I bet you have some great memories.
Jazzy--I so want to soak in that hot spring! That is a hot spring, right? So pretty.
Cammy--Hugs to you, Leslie, Marty and Joey.

Hi friends- on the run but wanted to check in here.
Cami- I am so sorry to hear about Leslie's ongoing issues and the hospitalization. Is Marty okay? Hugs to you and Joey. I am putting Leslie on the prayer thread (all of you for that matter).
NM- yes that is a hot spring! My favorite more local one, meaning it is only about a 90 min drive to get there (vs. a couple hours for the bigger ones I go up up north). I have a lower back/hip issue which may be some low level siactica and it helped but well, it's back again.
I have dreams of getting on trains, planes, etc. when change is coming. It may be that you are ready for something else. I will share that my new work feels SO MUCH BETTER than what I was doing. The last few projects I did for the hospital system and medical records projects were so unpleasant for me that this is a welcomed change. The work is not as difficult (good folks too) and I actually like coming to work again! So maybe taking those fabulous nursing skills of yours and cast a wider net and see what is out there?
More later! Texas people (Ill and others), as there is another hurricane a comin.....

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone! You're right - it sucks that I'm here in the first place, but at least I have fellow wine lovers going through this crap right along with me.
I have been scheduled for BMX with reconstruction on Nov 13, which is just around the corner. I'm terrified of the surgery and the recovery, but will make the best of it (uhhh, how soon after surgery can I start drinking again???).
In the meantime, I have booked a last-minute trip to Jamaica with one of my best friends - A Girls' Getaway to Bid Farewell to the Girls - and am counting down the days until I'll be on the beach with a rum punch in hand.
Jazzy, where were those pics taken? Beautiful!!!
NativeMainer, that drink sounds gooooooood. The name seems quite appropriate. ;-)
Celia, your vacation sounds amazing! I'd love to get to CA to visit the wineries sometime!

Just a quick poop in....
Jazzy, glad to hear you like the new job better and the hot springs......LOVE! Glad you are able to enjoy that.
Evily, gonna just call you Evi, cuz I don't want to do "evil"...lol. I have not had BMX or otherwise, but some of the other gals here can give some advice to things you need to do. I'm sure they will chime in, so stay posted girl! My neice is in Jamaica right now on her honeymoon, got married Saturday.
Having a great time in Michigan with my family and will check in when I can. Love and Huggles to everyone!

Hi girls,
Just pooping in to read and a quick hello to all.
Cam, so sorry to hear about leslie's troubles. Yes, it reminds me of my own journey all too much. Sending her love and prayers for quick healing.
Evily, I drank the night before my BMX and the day I got out of the hospital believe it or not. Not that I recommend doing it but I lived through it and the likker made it all easier to bear.
I started my job last Friday, so far so good. I have a month of training with learning the systems. It will be very smooth sailing until I start getting my own loans.
Lori, little Logan is doing great, he was here this evening warming my heart. Thanks for asking about him.
That's all the news from NJ, hope everyone is having a super fantastic week. Love mese goils here, dwink up!
ChEErS!

Hey Evily,
I had BMX in April. I'm doing okay. The expander hurts more in my Right, previous lumpectomy/radiated, breast. My skin is thin, I don't weigh enough, which are factors I guess. Its hard edges poke out. I was physically fit/active before so I've had no real pain//movement issues. I have occasional tightness. I have to wait until next spring (April?) for the exchange due to radiation on Left breast this time. I hope for the best as I don't want to go flat. I had nipple sparing BMX which may be standard now. No feeling whatsoever but nipples survived. Something to be thankful for? lol.....
I drank right away I think? When I felt like it. Not a lot of pain pills, not a lot of pain, so the scotch came soon after I stopped the pain pills. HTH?

Good afternoon, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! It's been abit of a week at work.I have just finished filing a formal complaint about being bullied by one of the Clinical Managers. Here's the short version of the whole thing: Clinical Manager #4 came on the scene about 2 years ago. She's been snooty and a bitch ever since. Nobody thought she'd last this long, she hates to work. But she's managed to hang in and make life miserable for lots of people. Lots of snide comments, withholding info, giving assignments and info as late as she can get away with and then pouncing on people who are late getting the work done, that sort of thing. She's told me I'm of no value to the team. That sort of thing. Several new nurses have come on and quit before getting through orientation, mostly due to her comments and behavior. Including the nurse I was orienting the last few weeks, who quit Tuesday morning in large part due to her bullying. That nurse was going to report her to HR, I hope she did. Anyway, it's done now, will be interesting to see how this works out, if anything happens at all. But something has to happen. I finally realized that part of the reason I am so tired all the time is from the stress of going into the office and wondering what kind of crap is going to happen next from her and her buddy. I've quietly put out the word that I'm thinking about changing jobs, will see what happens next.Ball's in Your court now, God!
Jazzy--I have started to quietly look around and see what is out there. Going to start talking to some people I know and see what is happening. It may be time to get out of this office, or out of this company, or out of nursing.A change would be a relief right about now. And the hurricane is supposed to reform into a Nor'Easter for us! First of the season.Got our first snow yesterday. Most of it has melted off, but there is still a coating in a lot of places.Welcome Winter!
Evily--Enjoy the Jamaica trip!I can't answer the drinking after mast/recon question, the recon I had was different and it was 5 weeks of no caffeine due to it being microsurgical in nature. 6 weeks of no coffee was NOT fun!
Jazzy--LOL!
Hi, Muddling!
Goldie--continue with the great time in Michigan!
Dara--so glad to hear the work scene is better! Would love to see a pic of Little Logan. Probably not so little anymore!
Jaybird--the world forgets what a good anesthetic alcohol is.Maybe that's the answer to the opioid crisis?Prescribe scotch instead of oxy?
Hashy Smoke's DOTD:
Whistleblower
1 1/2 oz St. George Dry Rye Gin
1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz honey syrup (two parts honey, one part warm water, mix well, cool)
6 dashes Cardamom Bitters
Grapefruit La Croix (about 4 oz)
Shake all ingredients except La Croix with plenty of ice and open pour into Highball glass. Top with La Croix and garnish with long lemon twist.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Beautiful sunny day today, going to take Sadie and head out and run some errands, maybe visit Mom and Dick. Supposed to get rainy and windy tomorrow, actually predicting a Nor'Easter. Happy, happy, joy, joy. At least it won't be snow!
0 -
Hi, NM! I hope your job situation gets resolved soon. The rain for your nor'easter is here now - cold rain and windy. 43* . Yuck!
0 -
NM- look in to nursing opportunities with software companies. I work with a woman on this gig whom is a former nurse with a home health/hospice operation. Your expertise in hospice would be an asset to companies who develop and sell that software and/or for training. There is some good money in this work too and you can work mostly from home, sometimes a bit of travel but most training is done remotely these days.
I have been in consulting jobs where I have been bullied. Just bad for your health period, never mind we cancer survivors need to try to manage our stress levels, right?
It's been a week and then some, more soon!

I'm home!
Jaybird, good to see you. Wish you would hang around, after all, you ARE one of the originals!
NM, too bad you couldn't get together some sort of petition against CM 4, just so it's not coming from you alone. Can't wait to hear what will happen. Try not to think about it over the weekend. The work week is done!
Short story during my layover in Chicago. My feet were really bothering me from all the walking. Gal sitting behind me with her elderly mother and I hear her say she was going to get some water. I go $5 out of my purse, and while handing it her way, asked her if I could bother her to get me a bottle. Snarkely she just says "I don't think so". I was flabergasted! Anyways, it's good to be home. Was a LOOOOOONG traveling day for me, over 15 hours!

Mornin' Ladies,
Wow 2 things that sent my ire into overtime.
How could anyone say that to u Kim. How thoughtless, ignorant and insane to talk to anyone like that let alone you, of all people. U have to be so patient, unbelievably so, not to say anything back. Even tho for the most part I'd probably say nothing that would be my limit---I don't know how u didn't go off on her. U r beyond valuable, if I worked in a place like u do and had u as a coworker I'd shine because of you and this crazy lady said that to u. Pttt that's an Italian spit, not horrible but u gals know.
And Lori---"I don't think so" WTF everything is going batwing out there., how can anyone deny another person of a simple favor---she was going there anyway. I can't even picture u ever saying no to anyone who asked for help. U must have felt awful, and I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Jaybird it's great seeing u, I hope u come back and spread ur wisdom here too.
Evilily I do remember going thru chemo and so many people drank all the time, it was share ur drink around day if someone knew. I'm sure using ur own adjustment thru this will be up to u, but most adjust fine. Well I think so LOL
Jazzy u and Kim should live by each other, u both can do a business together and be on top. It's like u have equal knowledge of different things amazing and I know this is true.
Oh the nurse just left for Leslie now, she seemed very nice---to much gauze and wrapping for me but it's fine for them---This will take a while for sure as long as Leslie takes it well we'll be fine. I say we'll meaning her or me screaming my head off.
OK I'll check back soonly. Oh I like that word.

This group is amazing! I've only read a few days of your messages, but I like your style. After my diagnosis last month, I cut alcohol out of my diet because I didn't know if that could have caused this and the colon cancer I had 3 years ago. Today the enormous hematoma I had under my lumpectomy broke loose which got blood all over my bed, carpet, bathroom, etc. and I've decided that this situation needs wine. 🍷 I teach middle school ESL and love my job, I love my friends and family, but it's all much better slightly under the influence. Cheers!

Hi friends- happy Saturday. Who had a great week? Mine was a bit crazy, but i made it to the weekend.
First of all, we had a big storm come through here early in the week bringing inches of rain and a leak in my bathroom. Ugh, got some things to deal with there. Nothing like a soaking rain to check your roof integrity. Also had some interesting challenges at the client site, but working through those. After two months, I sort of see some things between the management and their inability to work together. Too much testosterone I suspect. The guy who is supposed to be managing my contract has stepped up a bit more and is probably seeing the reality of some of the expectations of my time there. Is the new contract high over? Yes, I believe so but I generally like the work and having some cash flow again. I decided I need to adjust my attitude about a few things this coming week.
Been working on home winterizing and also more purging today. I took a bunch of things to consignment and came away with some real prizes on credit today. Brought in a bunch of things I don't wear any more and came away with this great coat, a pair of cool low cowboy boots, a velvet top, pin and beautiful wrap. Focusing on just having things in my closet I love and will wear. I find now I am all about plan colors with accessory scarves.
NM- you and I would be fab business partners! I hope you and Sadie are having a nice weekend. Are you getting the nor'easter today. How are mom and Dick doing ?
Dwisely- welcome to our thread. I personally don't believe alcohol causes cancer, although I know there are studies that have linked increased drinking with bc or reoccurrence. I imbibe as it suits me. Life is short and I have had to give up much the past few years. So everything in moderation, right? I am sorry you have had to deal with both colon and bc. What kind of radiation are you going to be doing?
Goldie- glad your visit was good. My feet ain't what they used to be and can relate to them hurting with too much walking. It was kind for you to offer that woman to get the water, she was very rude to your kindness. Not everyone appreciates things like that. You are a good soul friend.
Cami- how is Leslie doing? Is she out of the hospital? Marty and Joey hanging in? And you friend? Sending you much love today
Dara- so glad the new job is going well. Keep us posted on how things are going.
ChiSandy- where you are you friend? I think you were off to the Berkshires last time I was here a bit more. How was your trip?
Ill- I heard TX was getting crazy rain. Are you guys doing okay? Is it drying out yet?
Janky is down under I believe.
CeliaC- I hope you are well this weekend.
Muddling- did you guys dry out yet? Crazy rain everywhere this week!
Mistyeyes- checking in with you girlfriend.
Going to get a few patio things put away before the light goes away soon. Who is doing something fun for Halloween? I got invited to a party tonight but not going. My weekend was already full before I got the invite.
Wishing everyone a good evening, maybe with a nice glass of wine in hand!

Hi Jazzy and all, it has rained often for the last few weeks but not too crazy (by Texas standards). I’ve tried to keep up some but haven’t felt like posting. DH and I had to put our dog down, he was the last of 6, then I got sick, which turned into a sinus infection. Now I’m just trying to get my mind and body back to enjoying things. Thanks for checking in on me 😀

Hi, all--I've been back for a week, but posting mostly on other threads. Having a rotten cold which caused me to miss a vital rehearsal--but the director said to stay home because one of my castmates in the scene is recovering from joint (shoulder) replacement surgery a few weeks ago and needs to guard against infection. (Realizing I was really tempting fate when I flew to NYC only a week after my own ortho surgery). I woke up, texted in sick, took some cough syrup and was back out like a light--for nearly 3 hours. Never thought I could feel this rotten with only the mildest of fevers (in the low 99s)--scratchy and "tired" throat, coughing, head buzzing, burning sinuses. I know it's not an allergy, because those symptoms feel different (hard to describe). Also the barometer is plunging, and my left arm & hand hardware is making my arm sore and my right underarm & side boob feels swollen. Lymphedema self-massage time?
Gordy's birthday is tomorrow but Bob is working late. If I feel well enough, I will take Gordy out to the restaurant of his choice--the full birthday dinner (the 4 of us at an upscale fish house) will be next weekend when Bob is off.
DWisely, welcome aboard. I had an axillary seroma the size of a small orange--and 3-1/2 wks post-op it popped open along the incision line, spewing serous fluid (blood & water, yuck) all over the bathroom. Had to have it "expressed" (squished) and sutured closed, but the incision held when the sutures were removed. WIne is definitely a good idea. (For me, it was pie).
So what am I drinking? Chicken broth, seltzer, coffee, tea and hot spiced (non-alc.) apple cider.

G'day to all from Sydney, Australia!! Just touching base to say I am only reading the forums sporadically as the time difference is sooo weird and also by the time our day is done from touring I am totally exhausted!! It is 5:45 pm here, just enjoying a cold beer in our room while we decide where and what to eat for our last Sydney meal. Tomorrow we fly back to Robina on the Gold Coast which is where my son and his family live, so nice to be so close for a few weeks Many more short trips planned before coming home November 15!! Hugs, prayers and best to all - Cheers! Janice

Hi friends - just a quick check in before I head to breakfast with some friends this morning.
Chi- sorry to hear about your cold. I have been fighting one off this weekend, but feel it could win out eventually. I hope you get to spend time with Gordy to celebrate soon.
Ill- sorry to hear about your dog. Hugs friend.
Janky- ya for Australia. Fall here and spring over there. Can't wait to hear more when you are back!

Cami, sounds like Leslie is doing pretty good. We all pray for some quick healing for her. Your job, to make sure she doesn't over do it! I saw Joey's costume, is he going out trick or treating? Will you be passing out candy?
Welcome Dwise! What kind of students do you teach ESL to? Sorry you have to be here, have a drink and make it feel better! We are a small group, but welcome anyone. It's just that most don't stay!
Jazzy, I agree...you and NM would be awesome business partners. It wasn't that offered to get the water, I was asking her to get me a bottle. As for the feet, it's due to SE's of the FU pills, called Hand/Foot Syndrome.
Ill, sorry about having to put down your fur baby and that you have been sick.
Sandy, you are sick too. Feel better and soon!
Janky, good to hear from you. And when any of us is gone for a period and only reading, don't worry about catching up, just jump in and have one of the Tenders get you a cocktail.
NM, anxiously awaiting to hear the outcome of the letter about the bully!
Nothing here to report. Worked out in the garden yesterday, picked tomatoes..can you believe that! Ended up giving them to one of my neighbors to do as she pleased! I AM DONE with maters! Heading to the warehouse in town, going to wash the new truck (red rocket) and put it away for the winter. It only goes camping. Who the heck spends $60,000.00 on a truck, just to go camping 2-3 times a year!!!!

Hello, all. Thanks for thinking of me, Jazzy. Had lunch yesterday in Columbus, Ohio area with dear cousin (more like a big sister - grew up in house next door to mine) - Cold & raining, so had a strong coffee w/Baileys for fortification. Her son's wedding is the one I went to on the West Coast a few weeks ago. She is moving to Providence, RI area to live with her daughter. Will miss her so much. Also consoled myself with the purchase of new Coach handbag for 70% off at outlet store enroute. Cold, very windy (30-35 mph) in Cinci area today. Strong coffee with Chambord was today's "fix".
Hope anyone experiencing the Noreaster is doing OK. NativeMainer - How are things there?
0 -
Hi Jazzy, the rain stopped followed by cold and breezes. It's pretty but too cold for this time of year. Looking for a warm up back to around 70* but not seeing it on the forecast. I can't believe it's almost Halloween.
0 -
Goldie- I need to read things better. Well, that woman could have been nicer about it, right? What is the big deal, she was going anyways? Meanie.
CeliaC- glad you got time with your cousin before she moved. Now you can go visit her in RI but do so in the summer and enjoy some RI beach time (our family used to have a beach house there long ago). Newport is lovely in the summer too. But that being said, I understand when people we are close to move away, it's hard. One of my besties moved to Denver this past summer and knew it was coming for years, but miss her. I like that you bought yourself a Coach purse too.....
0 -
Celia, sorry to hear your friend is moving. I can relate, but it was me that moved, from Michigan to Arizona. So only see family/friends once or twice a year. Never been to the New England states, but would love to visit there some day.
Muddling, we have been the 80's the last two days. 88 yesterday!
Jazzy, the only thing I can think of, was that she didn't see that I was holding money to offer her and perhaps she thought I was asking her to BUY my water, when asking her if she would get me a bottle.
Didn't get the Red Rocket washed. DH dropped the keys outside of the house, so no way to move it. I have told him several times to take my key, cuz I don't drive it, and hide it in the toy hauler or somewhere in that warehouse. Mentioned that to him yesterday and his reply is "I don't need that". Meaning to hear me say it. I guess they just don't like being wrong!
0 -
Goldie- that may be true. I don't find people in general to be very kind or helpful these days.
In the 80s? It was in the 70s here this weekend but may be snowing on Halloween. A white fright night!
