    Yay, Gigi!

I think Gaga’s residency at the Park MGM is going to be short, since it was announced this morning that starting in March Bruno Mars will be in residency there. Either that, or they will be alternating nights.

We booked the same flight tomorrow night, but we’re hoping a second ice storm won’t materialize around 10pm (or that enough rain will have fallen that the ice will have melted). Our snow guy is hoping to make it over tonightand spread salt before it gets too bad.

Sheesh - my darn fingers did something and erased my whole spiel, so frustrating! Had bloodwork and doctor visit and I am getting better, though my neutrophils have only gone to .5 from .3 so I still can't get on my Ibrance, nor do they want me to do too much or go out and about due to risk of more infection. Seeing as it is minus 30 here I don't mind staying in anyway.

Chi and JCS - sounds like you have lots of 'action' going on around you!

Jazzy - you are hilarious, I enjoy your take on doubles ;) and I am glad your work is good and looks like more good stuff on the way - yayyy!

Gigi, Misty - glad we are all starting to feel 'better'

NM - I am so glad you are out of that crazy, chaotic place, sounds like a gong show setting not a work place...

goldie - are you with your mom?I am so looking forward to seeing mine at the end of the month!

Hi cami, Mema, and anyone I have missed - stay warm. Cheers! Janice

JCS - I don't see that you post on too many other threads so I'll jump in and recommend Claritin for the Neulasta bone pain. Not Claritin D, just the old original. Take it the day of and for several days after. It seems to have worked for most people on these threads, although not everyone.

JCS—it doesn't even have to be brand-name Claritin, just generic loratidine (drugstore-brand, even—dirt cheap).

So it's been an interesting evening. We left for “New York, New York” for dinner during the SOTU and have yet to catch the response. Dinner at Gallagher's was far better than expected. Bob had his heart set on one classic steakhouse this trip, and all the others were either booked up, insanely pricey, or both. We had wanted to dine at Gallagher's last time we were in NYC (kitty-corner from our hotel), but it was under renovation. Food was excellent (see the dinner thread), but here's the booze. First up was “All That Razz:" Absolut Raspberry, Chambord, sour mix and simple syrup:

    image

Gordy had “Sand In My Toes:" mango purée, pineapple juice, Stoli orange & St. Germain, garnished with a Luxardo cherry:

    image

With dinner, J. Lohr Napa Pinot Noir. As (not with) dessert, Taylor Fladgate 20-yr tawny port, accompanied with Stilton & walnuts (the glass is much smaller than it appears in the photo):

    image

Got back to the hotel, only to find that there was a power failure that had grounded the elevators. There was still generator power, so there was plenty of coffee & bottled water while we waited. Had a nice conversation with a couple our age: she's an 11-yr triple-positive survivor (who lurks on BCO). Everything's back to normal now—catching up on the news before turning in for the night, hoping that “departure 2.0" tomorrow will be successful. 10 years ago I'd have been a wreck; now, it's just a series of adventures.

Just had an idea: restaurants with signature cocktails should really offer cocktail “flights,” just as others sell wine & beer flights

    Hi again, can't sleep.

Gigi what good news, so that eases ur mind. But all these things going around take weeks to really feel well. When I got out of the hospital last time they told me take it easy for weeks making me lazier than I am.

Wow Sandy ur really making the best of getting stuck there. but u know the good spots and now the good drinks. I wouldn't know half of these names of liquor if I didn't watch Bar Rescue. I kind of like that show. But when they say they have to teach the bartenders so much and then they introduce a drink that needs a flame, that makes me LOL>

Hope all goes well tomorrow and the weather isn't crazy slippery, my niece is coming over for a shower, not for her but for me. It's turned into such a big deal, it's silly.

    Sleep well my friends

Cami, be careful and try not to set foot outdoors till the ice is gone. And turn your fridge & freezer to the coldest setting and charge up your cell & computer before the power goes out (worst case scenario).

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! The Hospice office saga continues and has actually crossed the line into total ridiculousness.CM#4 sent some very unprofessional e-mails to one of the nurses and CM#5, and the e-mails got copied to the Area Vice President, who is doing the initial interviews for the Office Director position. CM#4 has applied, according to the grapevine. Apparently, after the phone interview yesterday afternoon CM#4 left the office upset and worked from home for the rest of the day. I think her comeuppance is at hand. I almost wish I was going to be workingin the office for a few more weeks to see how all this works out, but I'll have to settle for getting the info second hand from my friends still working there. Even Sadie was laughing when I told her all about it last night!

Cammy--What the heck happened with the Visa gift card? And why does it take so long for them to figure out what happened? It makes as much sense as money being removed from my account the instant I make a transaction, but deposits have to sit and wait until they "clear." The technology should work the same way for both sides! So funny the dog taking the sweater to Leslie!

Librarian--Yikes, sounds scary to have a bank robbery so nearby. I hope the Neulasta pain subsides quickly and doesn't get any worse.

Jazzy--what is the rationale for waiting for the cataracts to get worse before dealing with them? Cataracts continue to progress and don't stabilize or reverse do they? I'm glad you have a plan for dealing with them around the work projects.

Chi--Another scary situation so close to home! It sounds like Lucien is causing all kinds of havoc. I think it gets to Maine Thursday night into Friday. Glad I'm not driving in that stuff!

Gigi--HOORAY for no lymph node! Pockets of fluid are common, and easily fixed.Such good news!

Janky--Gong Show is a great description of the office antics right now!Not going out in minus 30 weather is not much of a hardship at all.

    Minus--Good advice for Librarian.

Chi--Nice collection of drinks, there! How long did you have to wait for the elevators?

Cammi--sorry sleep is eluding you. Hope you can catch up soon.

NM- the idea with the cataracts is that they need to be interfering with daily life to a point it is a must do. My only issue is some worsening night vision, and I don't do all that much night driving. My vision is otherwise fine. My choice to wait a bit is more around my work schedule and find the right time to do it. I have some new work I am doing a quote for and if I get it, I will be busy through the spring. My thought is I may do it late spring or early summer, or in August/Sept time frame. These suckers won't get better, only worse and they will never reverse. So this is more around when Jazzy can do it best with her self employment world and contracts? Trust me they were ready to schedule me yesterday if I said yes.......

Janky- I have to laugh at myself sometimes with the goofy medical things that go on. I have had things in one's though too (aka my ruptured appendix). Thank god you only have one of those, I don't think I could do that one again?

Chi- I would like to see Bruno AND Lady Gaga. I think I heard she was there into April but not sure. Some of my other old favs are at the Venetian this winter and spring including Earth, Wind and Fire (they put on a great show) and also saw Steely Dan was going to be there too. I saw Steely Dan my one and only time here four years ago right before Walter Becker passed. So glad I could see them together. So much good music in Vegas to see!

Gigi-whew sister that is good news!

Cami- yo sista, stay off the ice.

We have big rain and wind here today in the southwest......

    Hey all!

Just jumping in and not going to reply to everyone, just glad to hear of good news that many of you have posted. Mom is doing "pretty good", considering. She got an air mattress today to "hopefully" help with the bed sores. However, I was not happy when they changed her today and there was no bandage over it. So I'm sure urine got into those sores. Enjoying time with my brother and my son is here too. I will be back to my regular morning posts day after I get home.

Wanted to say to Gigi, I like your "stay thirsty my friends" quote!

    Huggles to everyone!

    Hello all!

I did take Claritin, but I had a small amount of pain yesterday. I still had my kids over for dinner, but did sit most of the time. Pain has mostly disappeared today. The Oncologist did say he would lower the dose of steroid so I can sleep better after chemo. Since I have had no problems with side effects or allergic reactions, the steroid is not as necessary.

I had my cataracts fixed after several years of near blindness. I could not drive at night, could not see the computer at work and on and on. Once they were fixed I was amazed at what I could see. I think I had been wearing black and navy together for a while! I have been using readers since, but can see street signs, birds in the sky and colors again. Best thing I ever did.

Our weather has been beautiful. Might stay that way until the weekend. There is some rule about having nice weather only during the week. I feel like a vodka tonic tonight. No basketball, so maybe a Netflix movie.

    Good days to all!

Howling winds in Vegas today--gusts 40mph and temps in the low 40s. Funny how the coldest weather seems to be anything cooler than normal in a warm climate. After knocking off last night's leftovers for breakfast, we checked out and left the bags with the valet. Walked to SLS to take the Monorail--last time I took it it was brand new and went only between Bally's & MGM Grand. Now, it goes all the way from SLS south to MGM, which is mid-strip. Wish they'd extend it south to Mandalay Bay and north into downtown,Glitter Gulch & Fremont St. Afterward, we had lunch at Umami Burger, where I had an "Impossible Burger" and a Fever Tree ginger beer (unleaded--somehow didn't feel like alcohol today). Gordy had a blackberry Moscow Mule. Flew home to 30s & light rain. Tomorrow it'll be high 40s with a T-storm before it plunges to 9F--and Fri. night back into the near-deep-freeze of 2 above the donut.

Jazzy, Cher will also be at the Park MGM in March, with Aerosmith in April. (So I guess the acts will rotate). I'm glad I got to see Steely Dan back in the late '90s when Becker was alive (though Skunk Baxter didn't come along on that tour). And Earth, Wind & Fire were Gordy's commencement speakers at Columbia College Chicago (the largest fine & performing arts university in the nation, eclipsing Emerson) in 2008. They played along with the college's jazz ensemble. Wish they'd sold DVDs of it!

    Mornin' Ladies.

Well so glad u ladies who live in 70 weather are handling it ok. I have to LOL when u gals tell me to stay in. I never go anywhere unless it's the Dr. and an occasional party. No one wants to even take me to the store in case I "fall" These wimps.

Lori good to hear from u and even better ur mom is doing better. I'm sure it;s great to be with ur brother and especially ur son. Ur weather is close to ours so u be careful.

Kim I'm still confused when u start ur job. Probably next week I guess. And yea this 90 day thing sounds recockulous to me, I never heard of hear that. But it seems such a stupid thing. But when stupid things exist u know I'm somewhere around it.

Jazzy I didn't realize u can pick a time for cataract surgery. These Drs. always seem to say when it's RIPE sounds disgusting, I always think of a fruit when I hear that. With ur schedule tho that has to be hard to figure it out . Boy u and Sandy really see the best shows, how great is that.

Ao Sandy how is it coming home, well not as cold as last week but just wait I think another wave is coming---oooo how exciting this is. Sounds like ur time was really good and how are Gordy and Leslie doing???

Gigi I always like ur attitude.

JC I always thought steroids helped pain,is there different kinds or something. I was always given them for pain.

LomLin we too have the same weather, its not like Singing in the rain type for sure.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Sadie and I slept in until almost 8 this ayem, not a big surprise since I couldn't get to sleep last night and was still awake at 1 ayem. Going to give myself a lazy day today to celebrate no more worrying about Hospice office politics and personality crap. Poor Sadie was listening to me babble about the hospice office stuff, my plans for next week, how excited I am about starting the new job, and all sorts of random stuff. I was rather amazed when I saw that Sadie was thumping her tail periodically, as if she was listening closely, while she was totally asleep! It was the snoring that gave her away!

Jazzy--aha, that makes more sense about the cataracts! Somehow I thought you were ready to go nowand the Doc was making you wait. Being able to schedule something like that when it works for you is a good thing.

Goldie--Hugs.Saying prayers for you, your Mom and the rest of your family.

Librarian--that Claritin is good for lots of things besides allergies!I took it while I was on and AI to minimize the aches and pains and joint stiffness. It worked really well for that, too. I'm glad your cataract surgery was so successful. I just hope I never have to do that, would be very happy never to have surgery or any medical procedure ever again!

Gigi--Wow, we got up to 40 degrees in Maine and thought it was a heat wave, but you got us beat!

Chi--That is one big difference in temps to go through, and lots of weather changes!

Cammy--I start the new job on Feb 18th-- a week from this coming Monday.

    Just for fun:

Greetings from Glamorous Eye Candy - finally, a name from a meme I like!

Well, my project is on hold as of yesterday due to a technical issue that has us stopped in our tracks. The resolution is with the vendor, but we may loose three days of work as it stands. Frustrating, but I have a quote due on that new work so I am going to finish that this afternoon and then will be off site tomorrow. The joys of technology, when it works the way it should.....

Chi- my sister saw Cher there a number of years ago in LV and said she puts on a fab show. I think I saw Jeff Skunk Baxter when he was with the Doobies years ago (also when Michael McDonald was with the Doobies). All that old music brings back good memories. That is so cool that EWF played at your son's commencement, just wow!

Goldie- I am sorry to hear about the bed sores. We got on the place my mother was in when that happened to her,s serious business. Glad you are there to be with her. Sending you much love.

Temp dropping like a rock here: this a.m.'s rain turned to snow and is now freezing up again. Going down to 9F tonight and not getting any warmer till Sat. (still cold). Then snow again starting Sun., and every day through at least Valentine's Day. Getting really tired of this. And I have to go out tomorrow and shop for a novelty tie for our friend's 70th birthday--his surprise party is this Saturday. Had I known that's what his son would suggest, I'd have easily been able to buy one in Vegas. (He's a retinologist, so an eyeball-patterned tie would have been great). Bob has two drawers full of ties, some of which he's never worn, so maybe I'll have to improvise.

Don't feel like drinking tonight, so DOTD was a cappuccino.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day!For the next week or so I am not going to allow myself to get on the computer until after I have done some housework and other things around the house that I have been neglecting/procrastinating/ignoring with the goal of staring the new job with a clean slate (or at least a house clean enough to have company over) since I will not have any excuse about not having enough time. So don't be surprised to not see me first thing in the ayems for a bit. Getting on here will be one of my rewards for getting a certain list of items taken care of each day. Poor Sadie isn't going to know what to do, since part of the morning computer time routine is spend with me with one hand typing and one hand petting and ear scratching! But she'll adjust, and I'm sure she'll do her usual fantastic job of helping. She started last night emptying a garbage bag of stuff all off the living room floor. Granted, that bag had been sitting there for days and should have been taken out to the dumpster days ago. She's teaching me not to procrastinate!

Jazzy--Glamorous Eye Candy, what a great name!

Gigi--What's wrong with prune juice in a wine glass?Or wine in a water glass? If it's fun and it works for you I say go for it! 80s to 27? What a swing! I'm guessing you don't have much ice built up on the sides of the roads like we do here? Hope the blood work numbers are good for you.

Chi--the novelty tie idea sounds like fun for a birthday party! Be careful out there, when the temp drops like that water can freeze into a very slick, smooth surface rather quickly and is real trouble for walking and driving.

    Cammy--LOL!!

    Joyous Chocolate Cake's DOTD:

    Friday Freeze recipe

    Friday Freeze

    Ingredients

Blend all ingredents in blender at highest speed. Consistancy of the mix should be "semi - thick:" not so thick that a spoon would stand by itself in the mix, but not as thin as juice. If the mix is too thin, add sherbet, if too thick , add equal amount of juice and alcohol. Pour into glass and place in freezer for 15 minutes.

Best served in a White Wine Glass.

Went to St George yest for taxes, then went flying down I15 to LV to see my PS. He put back on compression garment around mese belly...right under my ribs. I HATE it....my entire chest itches like heck. Otherwise, I am doing pretty darn good.Loopy

Jazzy what's going on with work??? I know u get these stops every so often but I hope it's a short time for sure. But I know u know what to do.

Sandy, I hear ya on the weather. We have a car wash in Hillside, we had our worst January since 2015 (bought the place in August 2014). Closed the place down for the first time ever since we owned the place when we dropped down to bad temps on Tuesday-Thursday last month and again today. Our chemical suppler owns a car wash and says that this January was the worse January for him in 20 years. Typically in winter you draw in more money because of the crappy weather and the toll it takes on your vehicle. Plus the salt and some dirty rain. Not so much during the summer months. When we had that cold spell at the end of January our pipe that feeds the toilet busted, which also fed our weep system. For those not familiar, the weep system has water trickling through it to the bays so nothing freezes up in weather that is below freezing to keep pipes, etc. from bursting. This sucks!! And what is up with the wind last night? I heard it whistling through our outside doors, and you could feel it coming through the windows. This sucks!!!

What a great day! I went to lunch with some old girlfriends. We caught up and talked for hours. Too bad a cancer diagnosis is what got us back together after a number of years. The weather here has been glorious. I sat in my courtyard, read for a bit and took a nap. There is a bit of pine pollen, but the coming rain should knock that down. Sorry the weather is so crappy in the Midwest and North.

I just finished watching the biopic of Ted Buddy on Netflix. He was one crazy dude. I remember when the killings happened and how scared young women were. he denied everything. I was surprised to learn while in prison he fathered a daughter. Now watching a series about Trump. What an obnoxious scumbag he was in his early career. I do not want to get into politics, but his background is pretty iffy.

Will sip ona bit of Cabernet with a steak tonight. I have enjoyed my week off from chemo. Amazing how you can start to feel like yourself again when there is some distance.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

LomLin, I haven't even attempted to get my car washed since the beginning of January. And that wind was insane here along the lakefront: before going to bed last night, I bundled up and went out to salt my deck--and the wind blew the stuff right back at me!

I did end up having some Ferrari brut last night, since I ordered out for pizza, baked clams & spinach.

    Mornin' ladies,

OMG I heard the wind too, it was like a spooky movie. I have an extra heater in my room and it was still so cold I bundled myself where all I could use were my eyes to watch TV. It was recockulous. At first I thought it was just my own ears.

Damn we're still busy and I wish i could understand all these accents. There was an Asian lady that called honestly I got every 3rd word, finally I heard talk husband and I was so happy---then he was worse than she was. Well whatever they wanted we had to hang up---I didn't get enough of any word to figure it out.<was this politically incorrect???> Well it's true.

More weather fun is coming our way, but I forgot what's up next, but I know it's not beautiful JC, no sitting outside, we can barely open the door to let our sweatered dog out. LomLin and Sandy it really doesn''t sound like this weather is keeping u in much. Good for you both

Oh Hospice is coming in for my cousin now. Kim u know the most about this. My sister and I are so scared and sad. I feel so sick inside and u know what's crazy when I call her, u know when u call someone and u automatically say how are u doing or how r u feeling.
