Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! Hopefully everyone is out having some fun or recharging the emotional and spiritual batteries. Sadie and I are enjoying the sun before the snow comes.

Happy Funday Sunday- looks like it's been pretty quiet here this weekend. I hope everyone is out enjoying life vs. digging out of snowstorms or dealing with other weather issues. It has been warmer this weekend and I was out in the gardens yesterday doing some initial clean up on the front and back gardens. Got a bit more to do today, but lots to do this month as spring moves in and winter diminishes. Usually by March, things begin to warm up and there is less snow storms. But they will come again, usually through April, on occasion in to May. We are a weekend away from daylight savings and a few more weeks from the official start of spring.

I decided yesterday to put together a transition document for this contract. As the fellow that manages my work has a meeting scheduled with me and the project director for Tuesday, I realized that I need to put together a summary of my work, what is done and what is in progress. I have it mostly finished and will send it tonight to both people so they have it to review by Tuesday. I think it will give some better context for the discussion of what, how and when we transfer to the director this month as I wrap up my primary commitments. I have a business dinner on Tuesday and many more things to focus on this month for my next gig! I am sure you can tell I am ready to finish this one up!

NM- you sound like you are enjoying the new job, figuring out what the boss wants, and adjusting to being in a FT position again. It all sounds good and hoping you are enjoying some nice downtime this weekend with Miss Sadie. Be safe in the snow and hope it is not too much to deal with. What do you like most about the new position?

Goldie- I am wondering if the weather is warmer over in AZ. Are you getting any rain or snow? How are things with your mom? I have been concerned for your family after hearing about the falls and seeing those bruises. Hoping you are doing okay friend.

Cami- thinking of you and know there may be services this weekend for your cousin who passed recently. Sending you much love.

Chi- what do you and Bob have planned for your next trip? How is Gordie doing in his job?

Ill- I laughed about your comments about listening to the work drama from a distance. More fun, right? I have places I have worked here where I would hear gossip from afar. Every place has it's drama and politics, right? The nice thing about consulting work is that we only need to be aware of politics but don't have to deal with them when you are in a FT position. When I start getting dragged into organizational politics, it is time to go.......

Janky- how are you feeling? I think you are on a trip, but maybe back. Are you lungs better?

Wishing everyone else here I have not mentinoned a good day!

Hello hello! Here I am in warm st Simon s island (Brunswick, GA) ‘cloudy but decent and really enjoying mom and dad. I made ribs tonight as my dad wanted my mom’s recipe from back in the day- mom enjoyed them, though ‘she never had them before, never heard of ribs with brown sugar ‘ - We just go with her flow, love her for who she was and who she is niw💕💕

NM - so happy that you and Sadie are!

Chi - Went to store to buy red wine and Bogle winery jumped out 😉 will try it for sure! 😄

Jazzy - I am feeling much better, very tired by days end though😬 off to St Augustine for 2 days, then Venice and Sarasota- hoping to catch my breath soon!

Well I am off to ‘chill’ with book and pj s💤

Have a great week till we chat again. Cheers

Janky - Hope you are safe with all these storms. Got pretty hairy here in Columbia, SC with two tornados seen on radar, but did not touch down.

Weekend was good for me. Stayed busy and visited with family. Tomorrow is house cleaning and preparing to go to the mountains with girlfriends. First, the P!nk concert on Thursday. I am so excited to see her perform. Friday is the last chemo of this round. I will have to wear the Neulasta patch in the mountains, but it will be ok.

So glad I am out of all the work drama. There is a situation going on at my old library requiring legal interference. A staff member is causing an unsafe work place. Amazing how people cannot understand how to work with others.

    Have fun everyone

JCS- glad you are out of there. Workplace violence is becoming a bigger issue. I was at a client site a few years ago when something erupted in the parking lot with a disgruntled ex-husband. Around the time everyone was heading out for the day. Fortunately I stayed late, but could have easily been walking out in to that situation.

Next trip is New Orleans in a couple of weeks. Gordy is struggling getting used to his weird hours, but he likes his co-workers (and the decent salary and benefits). Breaks my heart to see he can’t perform due to having to work on weekend nights.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day! Getting up to some snow, not quite 1 and a half inches, no not really a big issue if people would slow down a bit, but of course they won't. Looks like I'll get to irritate some people by not going fast enough on the way in to work this ayem. Sadie didn't even blink at the snow. She was quick to put her cold wet nose on my inner arm a few minutes ago!

Jazzy--It does sound like it's time for you to be done with the current contract, and that you are ready to move on to another. I am enjoying the new job. I know this will sound petty but what I enjoy most right now is having my own space. I actually feel like I belong there and can put something down and know where it will be when I want it again. That, and getting to know the staff and residents.

Janky--So glad you are enjoying the trip, and the family! And the chill time! Bring some sun and warmth back when you come home, ok?

Librarian--workplace drama is bad enough with it being actually unsafeand needing legal intervention! So glad you are out of all that!

Chi--so sorry about Gordy not being able to perform, but glad he likes his co-workers. Life is full of adjustments!

Cammy--thinking of all of you. Hugs.

    Afghan Monkey recipe

    Afghan Monkey

    Ingredients

Pour ingredients over ice, shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Top with whipped cream and a cherry.

Best served in a Cocktail Glass.

Yup--love Mr. B's. Gonna try to get into Jacques Imo's no matter what (they don't take reservations). We'll be walking distance from Emeril's, Compere Lapin, and Cochon; and Drago's (sp?) is in our hotel. (The latter was recommended to us while in Vegas by a Lyft driver from NOLA).

JCS - glad you are safe, Brunswick escaped with lots of wind and rain, then today was sunny and warmer, enjoyed the beach!

Chi - different work hours are always a difficult adjustment, glad coworkers are good! -enjoy New Orleans!

I’ll - hi, hope all is well, great here 😄

NM - we are hoping to bring warm, sunny weather everywhere we go for the rest of 2019 and betond😉

We are heading to St Augustine tomorrow for 2 days, then Frostproof, FL for 1 day, then Venice and Sarasota for remaining 2 weeks. Sun and sand, here we come!! Take care everyone. Cheers

Yup--we have friends who recently relocated to Charleston (though the husband is staying in Chicago and working till he can take his full pension), and we're waiting for Hilton Grand Vacations' new property nearby to be ready. It's always been on my travel bucket list--along with an Inside Passage cruise, a train trip across Canada (including their Rockies), Glacier/Yellowstone/Yosemite Nat'l Park, and Prague. Oddly, Hawaii & the Caribbean? Not so much.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Dragging my butt out of bed this ayem, the alarm went off in the middle of a dream, it always takes me a while to get really awake when that happens. Sadie was a help getting my butt moving this ayem. She can use that cold, wet nose of hers to VERY good effect! Got 4 inches of snow yesterday, nothing too big, sun was out and roads were clear by the time I left work to head home. I discovered there is a branch of my credit union almost within sight of the nursing home, and on the way to/from work from home! Very convenient!

Illi, Chi, Librarian--I've only been to NOLA once, and it's on my list of places to visit again. It was a fun place to explore!

Janky--Frostproof? That sounds like a really neat place to visit! Is the name a promise, too?

    Golden Dream Cocktail

I ran across this cocktail, thought the pic looked familiar, and yup, it's the cocktail I know as the Golden Cadillac! One of my favs, but very not diet friendly!

    Golden Dream

    Ingredients

    Steps to Make It

    1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
    2. Shake well.
    3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Mornin ladies, I know I've been MIA but u all understand.

Sandy I think if any time I had upside working hours in myyears of working, I'd be all inside out too. I hope Gordy will acclimate in time, but it ain't easy. And I like ur bucket list.

    Janky sounds like fun.

JC be happy ur not there now. So many crazy crazy things u hear on the news has gone all insane. U know years back I never thought about any danger where I worked, even at the DMV but I didn't feel that way the first time the police came It was a customer and we had a panic button to hit for police.. Never used it til after I worked there for maybe 5 yrs. and after that we all were looking at people who got really mad there differently.

I didn't rea everything, just trying to catch up.

Joanne's wake had so many people there I could hardly talk to all. We knew so many of the same people but my sister and I could not walk around very much so we just sat an awful lot. But did visit with a lot of people and yet it didn't help us at all. The next day Lu and I HAD to go to my nephew's shower so at least we sat together never leaving each others side, then Monday we were on the phone for no reason except to just be there a bunch of times, we both feel lost right now. I know it will ease up but our lives were so intertwined on a daily bases it's just hard thing. It's my cousins fault, if she was a bitch we would never be so close, so we're blaming her.

I'll catch up, but u all know I have to unload here, I've been so close being here. Thank you

Hi all, I'm home! Just going to jump in, too much to reply to when you are gone for a few days. I had already talked with Cami in regards to her cousin. We had a good time, even had a wienie roast out in the mountains and of course it started to rain just as we were about done with hot dogs. Had to hurry and eat, pack up and leave. Went for some nice drives, the scenery is just so beautiful. But great time with some friends and they may come here to visit in April.

Cami, glad you had some enjoyable time at the shower to help with the loss of your cousin.

Suppose to be warm here today, close to 70, so may do some more cutting back in the garden and I have lots of lettuce to pick! My mom is declining, sleeping more and more and not eating much. So I don't get to talk to her much. Occasionally she will interact with my brothers when they visit.

Jazzy, no moisture here that I know of while we were gone. And I don't believe any to come...just the wind!

    Mornin' ladies,

Ahh Lori ur home, I actually really enjoy when u gals go places but like when u return. I just hate traveling around and when ur home it's like alls well with the world. I know silly and turned into a party pooper.

Jeez I was just sitting here typing and I fell asleep for an hr. so I'm sure I'm being pushed into the pewl by Kim no doubt. That woman has a clock in her head. I'm sleeping on and off dy and nite so my phones are really intruding on my life.

Dan's baby is so cute. I wish I could help them and even take his oldest to help her out, but it's not happening, I get mad sometimes that I'm not up to doing much for anyone anymore. But I shouldn't complain or should I LOL

I've been talking to my sister so many times during the day it's always about nothing. Yesterday I remembered when we were kid we used to eat sardine sandwiches but couldn't member how we fixed it. Well we talked about sardines for about a 1/2 hr. Well that was just one of our goofy conversations. We're really scraping the bottom of th barrel here.

    Phones I'll be booock.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!Sadie and I are enjoying a nice lazy morning. I'm going in to work later today as CPR is this evening. Gotta keep my hours at or under 40 per week, quite a switch from "work as many hours as you need to" and I am loving it! I'm getting my head wrapped around anew set of regulations and requirements, but it's all starting to come together. Not bad for only my 3rd week!I also got the survey ratings from my last class, and those numbers are very good, too, so I'm feeling rather proud of myself! I'm not looking forward to the time change next weekend, but it is what it is and I can't control that so I guess I'll just have to cope, right? Poor Sadie gave me the funniest look this ayem when she tried to get me up at 5:30 and I was telling her it was a sleep in day. I could just see her thinking "But it's a weekday, you're supposed to go to work!" I"ve got to make an appointment for her to get her shots caught up and then I can take her to work with me once in a while.

Cammy--It sounds like you and your sister are going through a big change in your lives. It's not surprising you feel lost. Your cousin is probably laughing at you blaming her for you all being so close. It will get easier with time, not better, just easier, as you find ways to adapt and adjust. In the meantime, you and your sister's grieving is a testament to Joanne's love and character. Hugs. AND--YOUKNOW THE RULE--no kechuping necessary. Jump in where you are. We'll repeat everything eventually!

Goldie--Glad the picnic went well, even if it was shortened by rain! And I'm jealous of you being able to get into your garden and work. Mine is still buried under 6 inches of white stuff!

Chi--Aha, that's why the nursing home dining room was all decorated up--Mardi Gras time! I remember having a good Hurricane while on a buggy ride in New Orleans once. Yum and Fun!

Cammy--Love the DOTD! I am very fond of mint. Those "little" things we remember and talk about are what make up the fabric of our lives and are VERY important. Not to mention that goofy convos are good for the soul.

Good morning friends- happy day after Fat Tuesday (every day is fat day for me) and today is the beginning of lent. The only thing I am giving up for lent is my contract. Yes, indeed, I was able to successfully negotiate a wrap up by the end of the month as I was looking for. Not sure of my exact day, but it will be sometime the last week of March. Free at last, free at last!

Cami- it sounds like the services went well but you are all missing your cousin so much. Grief is a tough master friend. Take things one day at a time please. We love you!

NM- I can appreciate what you said about having a space to work in. They have never had a good space for me to work in and I move around at this client site. They consolidated offices recently and are hiring like crazy so it is even worse now. I am hoping to do a bit of home office work on my next gig where I can do my best work!

Goldie- same here with the winds. Ugh.

Time to get to work. Going to be up to 70 degrees today. Shut up Jazzy.......

Busy few days getting my home clean and preparing for the girls mountain trip. Most importantly, the P!nk concert is tomorrow night!!!! Did get the call from the genetic counselor today. I have no gene mutations. At least none of the panel of 29 they tested for. Not sure if I should be happy about that or concerned. Since I am Stage IV metastatic TNBC I was hoping to discover a gene mutation that could support a targeted treatment. The counselor did not go into any detail over the phone, but will be sending a full report via snail mail. I will talk with my oncologist indetail about this in a couple of weeks.

It is supposed to rain all weekend in the Mountains of NC while we are there. We are old work buddies and will probably discuss all things work related. I will be taking two books to read and my IPad for entertainment. Once my Neulasta patch goes off we will go into town for some shopping and dinner. Town has some nice art, furniture and food stores. I am looking forward to getting away and having some girl time.

Looks like more snow for the upper Midwest. We have more storms heading our way on Sunday. Everyone take it easy and enjoy the good stuff.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! CPR class went well last night, glad to have that taken care of. The brain is slow to wake up this ayem, gonna be a lotta coffee day, I think. But that's ok. All the walking around the facility is being good for me, I noticed I can get quite a bit further down the longest corridor before getting winded than when I started. I've ordered a new fitness tracker so I can keep track of steps just out of curiosity. And the time change is coming up, so taking Sadie for an after work walk is going to be a doable thing, and that will be good for both of us.

Jazzy--Glad you have an end for the project, it sounds like it's time for you to pull out and leave it to the folks that own the process.Consolidating offices AND hiring? Sounds like a recipe for temporary chaos to me! I do my best work when I have a dedicated space, too, either at home or at work. You've got 70 degrees?Gee, we've only got to come up about 75 degrees to meet that!

Librarian--Welcome to the "no gene mutations but got bc anyway" club. Just supports that the majority of bc is not genetic but of unknown cause. Having a targeted therapy would have been nice, though. Have a great girls' weekend!

    Cammy--Happy Friday Eve!

Cami, I can hear the frustration in your voice about not being able to do the things you used to and other things that you would like to do. You have such a loving family and I'm glad you and Lu have each other. Did Leslie find a new doctor? Sardine sandwich....hmmmmmm, not sure about that one. We used to eat them with saltines. Not sure I could eat them today.

NM, things just couldn't be going any better for you. It amazes me how you can tell that just from typed words. You will be able to get in your garden soon. I've been trying to walk to our gate every day, but propable not much more than a half mile total. But there is a hill that gets me winded, but not as bad now, the more I take the walk. I think the 6000' elevation may have something to do with it???

Jazzy, I hate it when it gets super windy and you don't even have to open your mouth to eat dirt! And now the Junipers are FULL of pollen.

JCS, enjoy your mountain/girl time! And of course the concert too.

My brother went to see my mom yesterday, I told him to call me so I could talk to her, but she wouldn't wake up. Her room mate said she is barely eating anything. They took the bandages off of her right arm, it looks horrible. Gosh, I just hate seeing my mom go through this. But, I guess if she is sleeping through most it and doesn't seem to be in pain, then it's ok. I'm hoping the not eating will help to get her Home! Town today, onc tomorrow.

Changing clocks forward this weekend I think. I am sure several of you are looking forward to longer days. I know I am.Smile

Chi - LOL on the 'discreet pads'

Janky - good news on ur parents…very happy for you

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! My brain seems to be slow waking up this ayem, not sure why, I'm not really all that tired. I'm going to blame it on the cold temps for now. I don't even want to know how cold it is, it felt brutal when I let Sadie out. And given how quick she was to get the jobs done and come back in, I'm guessing it's VERY cold. Welcome to March in Maine!

Goldie--Good for you for walking the hill! Sounds like you are feeling improvement already.I bet the elevation does have quite a bit to do with it. Is there any oxygen in the air at that level??? Sounds like your Mom is drifting away. It does sound like she's comfortable, though, and that's super important. Hugs.

Mema--Yup, clocks change this weekend, not looking forward to that. There are 2 bills in the State Legislature that would end the clock turning in Maine, one changes us to Atlantic time, joining all the Canadian Maritimes that are all around us and on Atlantic time, and one that is dependent on a Federal bill dropping the useDaylight Savings Time nationwide. I've always thought Maine should be on Atlantic time, it makes the available sunlight more accessible all year 'round, and eliminates needing to calculate time differences in multiple directions locally. Not sure if it will go through this time or not, but I hope so. Let me get used to one time zone and STAY there!!

    Summer Fridays Cocktail

    Ingredients

    1 1⁄2 oz Vodka

    2 oz Coconut milk

    3⁄4 oz Simple syrup

    3⁄4 oz Key lime juice

How to make The Summer Fridays Cocktail

Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice, and shake until chilled.

Strain into a chilled rocks glass, and garnish with 2 sprigs of cilantro.

Went to see P!nk last night. She was fantastic. Very high energy and great talent. I sat next to a woman and her friend that is dealing with stage IV colon cancer. We had an entertaining conversation about our local chemo center and her trial with NIH.

I am currently getting the third infusion of the third cycle. Yippee! This means I am on track for the PET scan next week. Goals met!!!!

Like the rest of you, I am looking forward to the time change. I enjoy the sunlight into the evenings. Often that is when I get yard work and gardening done.

Off to the mountains after this for the weekend. I do hope all have a wonderful weekend and stay positive!

Greetings to Mema, goldie, cami, illli, Chi, NM, jazzy, JCS, and everyone else ;)

Time is flying by as DH and I enjoy the sunny, warmer clime here in Florida - already 1 week+ has gone by, so much going on, so many reconnections with family, so much fun, sooooo tiring! Today Bob and I celebrate 44 years of marriage - back in 1975 we had a snowy, sunny day near Montreal, today a super sunny, warm day in Sarasota, Florida, lovely!

I will post sporadically for the next couple of weeks, but know that I am here, certainly in spirit, if not in words...Enjoy the weekend Cheers! Janice
