how about drinking?

Thank you friends. I will be glad when the final path report comes and I can put this behind me.
But now I am dealing with the stupid MO office and them telling me they can't get my Prolia shot approved. They are supposed to use a script card for the non office visit injection and the woman seemed clueless. That moment when you say "why am having to tell you how to do your job?" She wants to push the apt and said "oh no you don't". Not in the mood people, I am tired and have four needle holes in my neck!

Jazzy, is the coverage refusal because you're no longer on an AI, are osteopenic but not osteoporotic, or because you've already had 6 shots?
I had a devil of a time getting my first shot covered because in 2016, Medicare Part B considered it a "drug" because it could be self-administered or administered in a non-hospital doctor's office, and Part D refused to cover it because it was too expensive (the rationale was that oral bisphosphonates were adequate; and that I.V. ones like Zometa or Reclast were hospital-administered and therefore fell under Part . My Part B supplement carrier ruled that if Medicare Part B wouldn't cover Prolia at all, it certainly wasn't going to pick up any part of the co-pay.
So I had one Zometa infusion (a nightmare--took 5 sticks to find a vein, it burned like crazy with every click of the pump for the whole 20 minutes, and I had bone pain, fever, and headaches for the better part of a week). But then the NCI guidelines were updated to make Prolia standard-of-care for any breast cancer patient on an AI (regardless of bone density) who can't tolerate oral bisphosphonates. So I got approved for 6 shots, administered semiannually, Had my last one last week.
Gonna pan-sear wild salmon tonight (too risky to try planking it on the grill due to storms supposed to be moving in), but not sure if I'm going to drink anything stronger than seltzer. If I do, I'll probably Coravin a mid-priced light-ish Pinot Noir.

With pan-seared wild salmon, a young (2018), delightful and fruity "Tramin" Pinot Noir from the Trentino-Alto Adige region of N. Italy near the Austrian border. No Coravin--it was inexpensive, and had a screw-cap.

Mornin ladies,
Jazzy it's always good to get those words, anyway u want to say them. Now the next part and u'r good to go. YAY
WELCOME HOME Lori, always miss u. Glad to hear about ur DD and know u have to catch ur senses and be back to fill us in.
Sand why don't u do insurance for people. I never understand anything with words I don't use, which aren't many any more.. Sandy for a combined number of years I worked for New York Life and then State Farm, Life, Health and car <and more> and still in the dark, I could never get into it and now it's a mess to me. My DD who is bi-polar understands it better than I ever did. This is so sad I barely know what ur saying.
Started feeling better than the Tusami of diarrhea of all my yrs. came back in a storm of not only PSTD but in reality. I stopped the anti's and called the Dr., hopefully there should be another. I do member Joey making me toast and a banana last nite, that kid know more about the big D than most. It broke thru all my armor of opiods how could that be. So let's see what today brings.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Boy did the humidity come back in yesterday.Walking in the garden at work was like walking through a sauna. Just as fast as it blew in yesterday it blew out overnight. Talk about changeable weather! And, of course, the renovation work being done in the other half of the building set off the fire alarm to add to the fun. I learned something new, though. When we do a fire drill our maintenance director can call the "All Clear" and let everyone back into the building. When the alarm is set off unplanned, we have to wait for the Fire Dept. to call the All Clear, and they took almost 30 minutes to arrive!I can drive from the nursing home to the station in less than 10 minutes, not sure why it took so long for them to arrive. I'm sure there is a reason, though. Sadie says Hi to everyone.
Cammy Cat--Glad to hear you are feeling better. And I'm glad Dan let you rest yesterday. Your body heals while you are resting. I can imagine you miss Joey quite a bit. He sure is growing up fast. Hope the shower felt good and the nap was good, too!
Goldie--Welcome home!Sounds like you had a good trip! Winning $300 on a 0.35 bet is amazing!
Jazzy--praying for B9 results!
Morning, Teka!
Janky--good to see you!
Hi, Misty!
Jazzy--glad that's over with and things are looking good so far! And good grief re: the Prolia shot. Why do you have to work harder than the office staff???
Hi, Illi!
Morning, Librarian!
Chi--insurance coverage is a complicated thing these days. Just crazy.

Jazzy, sounds like good news may be on the fore front for you. Sorry about the Prolia shot, damn insurance companies.
Sandy, quite the ordeal for your Zometa infusion. I hate it when they can't find a vein.
Oh crap Cami....pun intended. The big D has returned. Hopefully your doctor can find something else that will work. Joey is such a doll. Add some rice and applesauce with that toast and banana.
NM, glad that Miss Sadie is not limping anymore. I still can't believe she is that old! Seems like just a few years ago that you got her.
Hopefully we will be leaving next Friday for Moab for 10 days, can't wait. I just love it there, it's so pretty.

Cami - thank you. I love him. He actually is from here & seen in town often with his family

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! Getting up to a chilly ayem, 40 something outside, just hitting 55 degrees inside.Cool enough to make cuddling with Sadie quite a treat at night, for both of us, I'm pretty sure. Except for when Sadie is dreaming about chasing something with her paws right up against me! She has sharp toenails!
Goldie--it does seem like it was just a little while ago that I was chosen by my silly girl. I don't think she' s ever regretted her choice, I know I haven't! Enjoy the trip to Moab!
Good Morning to Jazzy, Cammy Cat, Illi, Chi, Librarian, Teka, Janky, Misty, and everyone!

Mornin' ladies,
Lori ur leaving again??? U must love it there or u would put this off. Good to enjoy things so much. And yes my Dr. gave me another round of something else right away, so hopefully this works. It just takes so much longer now feeling better.
Kim Sadie better be up and around now our girl has much more time for lovin. and it's really cool there, we supposed to get normally and then hot again next week, IDK what weather we're having next but last nite there were so many tornado things going around and storms don't like this at all.
Dan came over last nite about 9pm, left about 1am trying to talk me into the new puter. Well he cleaned this one out brought in the touch one, I HAVE NAILS, so he told me I had to cut them right then my little nail went into the puter fan I have but it didn't break. He came over so so stressed and wound up but after the nail thing he started actually laughing and from then he started to decompress and we just talked and he held my hand. By the time he left he was pretty good.
I hope EVERYONE has a good TGIF, JC hope it goes well.

NM, it has been quite cool here during the night and in the morning, I'm loving it! 46 outside, 66 in the house. You and Sadie were made for each other. Give her some belly rubs from me!
Cami, I hope this anti b kicks that infection to the curb. I can't believe Dan comes over there so late and stays so long. Sorry he was so stressed, but you helped him out. That's what you do! And yes, we love Moab, it's so very pretty there. Also anxious to see our friends we met there.
Town day, also going to the movies. New movie with J-Lo in it. Don't recall the name or even what it's about! Hope all is well with everyone.
Happy Fried Day.0 -
Hi friends- TGIF and happy Friday the 13th. I hope everyone survived the week. I have a few more things to get through today before I get to some time for myself this weekend. Our state fair is going on and I gave myself permission to opt out of it, but may go on Sunday morning which is the last day of the fair. I told myself it might be a nice treat and break from all the rest this weekend, and it's something I love to do.
Thanks to all for being in pocket and for the great response to my prelm results this week. And Teka, I finally got a good nights sleep last night too!
It's finally cooling down here, highs now in the mid 80s which usually happens in mid to late August, but at least it is finally here. I love Sept in New Mexico and trying to enjoy it as I can around all the other stuff. No final results yet from the PCP, but I did ping her that I had the FNA on Wed and prelmin results looked good. She also knows I am having surgery and was concerned I might get derailed from that if things went down a different road. I am moving forward towards the eye surgery now which is now coming up quickly next week.
Chi- the issue with the MO's office is that my insurance will only pay for the Prolia if it goes along with the doctor's visit. Todays shot is the second for the year and only that, as I just see the MO's office in the beginning of the year for an annual check in these days. Because of this, they have some type of coupon to cover the second one, I had to explain that to the girl. They should have that in the billing section of the notes at this point, we have been doing it this way for a few years. I said if for some reason there is no coupon to use anymore, they need to tell me and/or add a doc visit? She kept pushing to reschedule it which is what really set me off. These apts are supposed to be every six months like clockwork, and told her that. So she said she would follow up and of course did not. I probably scared her away, as I have dealt with this before and it's just BS- why do I have to do your job for you? Plus they called me right as I got home from the biopsy so I was not in the mood. Anyways, I got a text to confirm my apt today and am going in to get this done. The best place to talk about this is the patient sat survey they always send after every visit.
Goldie- the fall is the best time for camping and all the fun things you are doing. You deserve to go enjoy life and have some fun. Enjoy your time away!
Cami- I am sorry about the UTI and hope you are feeling better. Dan keeping you up to 1 a.m. though? Didn't you tell him you needed your beauty sleep? You two are buddies and I get that though.
NM- your temps sound even better than mine. My people up in northern NM tell me that it's in the 40s now at night and saw there were a few places in the corners of the state dipping down in the 30s. CO and UT got their first snows in the high mountains this week which is pretty normal for Sept. The fall is moving in and it's lovely out there! I guess swimming season is over for Miss Sadie.
I had a super great visit with my cousins who were in town this week, and planning a trip to see a lot of my cousins in FL next year. I learned one of my cousins just got diagnosed with lung cancer, but this family is no stranger to cancer. Then, my sister texted this week she and her partner are coming now for balloon fiesta. They have been back and forth on this for months now and last I heard, they could not get a pet sitter and the trip was off. My nephew was disappointed his other auntie was not coming, but texted him it looks like it's a go now. My sister and her partner have become how shall I say "a lot more work" this year with a few things going on with them, so hopefully this will be a good visit. Our family is not known for those Rockwell family picture moments.....
Well, the roofing company was come and gone early to do a small fix/leak around a pipe up top and some fall maintenance on the roof. Gotta keep up around here with those things, monsoon season always helps us to know how the roof is doing? But this roof is newer, 2013 and got replaced after a hail storm wrecked her.
Well, be safe out there people on Friday the 13th and will poop in later this weekend with some pics and stories from the state fair if I get there.

Happy, lucky Friday the 13th -
jazzy - i love your cartoon,so on the spot!! So nice to have a good night's sleep isn't it?
I am still not really 'here', skimming the comments, not even reading them I am tired, grumpy and getting ready for cataract surgery Wednesday - hopefully that will help my overall 'malaise'...
Missing all your thoughtful insights right now, but I will be back in full force (sometime soon) Have a great weekend to all my friends here, Cheers!

Janky, what's got you so grumpy and not really here? You know we are good to vent to! So you and Jazzy are getting eye surgery.
I got a small batch of tomatoes the other day, so far I have 13 pints and maybe 4 more today. Doing these small batches suck! The movie with J-Lo was just so so. About a bunch of strippers drugging guys and getting their money and credit cards. But I will tell you, j-lo did one hell of a pole dance in the beginning of the movie and wearing a very risqué outfit that showed her entire bootie!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Breezy and chilly here this ayem. Both Sadie and I are awake and up, but not moving very fast yet. Just going to enjoy a leisurely ayem today.
Cammy Cat--Sadie woke me up again last night when she was dreaming and I was getting all the paw action, but I discovered that if I tuck a blanket in between me and the paws it feels more like a massage than less like a vibrating bed of nails and we were both happy! Funny about your nail in the computer fan! Glad you got Dan laughing and decompressed.
Goldie--Sadie says thanks for the extra belly rubs!
Jazzy--for a Friday the 13th and a full moon it was pretty calm at work this week. I used to love going to the fairs this time of year, but lost interest as they got more focused on rides andgames and less on the animals and local agriculture. The couple that are still very agriculturally based have gotten so expensive that I don't bother. Fall really is moving in here, there was the first frost warning for the northern part of the state the other day. Swimming is pretty much over for this season, although a few hard core swimmers are still going out since the waters haven't really started cooling off yet. Glad to hear the roof is up to snuff. That's always a good thing!
Janky--we'll be in your pocket Wednesday!
Friday Freeze
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Vodka
- 1/4 cup Rum
- 1 cup Orange Juice
- 4 scoops Orange Sherbet
Blend all ingredents in blender at highest speed. Consistancy of the mix should be "semi - thick:" not so thick that a spoon would stand by itself in the mix, but not as thin as juice. If the mix is too thin, add sherbet, if too thick , add equal amount of juice and alcohol. Pour into glass and place in freezer for 15 minutes.
Best served in a White Wine Glass.

Mornin ladies,
I think it's Saturday wow another week.
2 eye surgeries this week, hoping all goes well. Janky please know u can feel good about just being floopy in here and share anything u would like, if we can help. This has been my place for so long now thru so much chit and I have to say this is a sanity spot here, it's just different. No debates or judgements just care and comfort for me.
An exciting day today another shower day. TADA, believe me this can be good. LOL I feel better but not great for sure, in my mind if I stay out of a hospital, I'm doing well. I really never let Dan know when I really feel terrible cuz I know he comes here to unwind and actually be a little silly which he just has a hard time doing. And when u love someone it's just easy to be around them. U all know that.
Well I have to do more coffee and took all my meds <I think> and get myself together. Have a special day.

I survived getting chemo on Friday the 13th! Unfortunately, clouds rolled in and we did not get to see the Harvest Moon. My Neulasta patch should go off a few minutes before the football game starts. Univ. of South Carolina has to play Alabama today. Will probably be a bloodbath, but miracles do happen.
Started watching Rotten on Netflix. Really interesting look at where/how/why our food comes from. Amazing how many food components we import from China. Wonder why that is? I am definitely going to look into a local CSA and start shopping at farmers markets. The problem is it takes time and money to eat that way. I have the time, but the money might give out.
Still really hot here. Had some clouds yesterday, but no rain. There is another storm heading this way, but doubt it will hold together long enough to bring us much precipitation. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! There will be adult beverages this weekend for sure.

Super Saturday after reading up your posts - this is seriously the best place to be!!! I am not sure what is causing the grumpies, maybe the fact that my Health Insurance company Drug coverage maxes out and I am maxed out with 4 months left in the year. Cancer is pricey - so I will have to look into that sooner than later I guess. My joints and body have been hurting more this week, but I definitely feel better chatting here thank you!
Jazzy - what are you having done with your eyes? I should go back and catch up on missed posts.
JCS - We went on a mini road trip to Calgary - huge farmer's market, which we have here in small town Innisfail, BUT it is so very much more expensive to buy local, more naturally raised meat products and my budget will only go so far.
NM - gotta love a 'bed in' massager...
goldie - I am only going to get green tomatoes and I am thinking I will have to pick them tomorrow as the nights are getting cold here, no frost, but it is on its way. I have been wanting to do pickles, like tomato salsa and beets, but I have no real energy when the time comes, so now it will be next year again - sign. Oh well.
I am off to set up a table in front of the Antique Mall where I rent a small space - there is a Car Show and Shine happening, so thought I would set up and see if i can sell more of my treasures. I think that is part of my grumps now that I write it down - I still have sooooooo much stuff to get rid of and it is small stuff, but has value - just so time consuming to have to go through it and figure out how to dispose of it. Ah well - I have perked up lots already, so thank you friends Have a great weekend Cheers!

Hi friends- whew, I made it to the weekend. Like Janky, I have been one cranky girl this week, but am just feeling worn out from all the endless medical tests, doc visits, follow ups, etc.that have been going on for months now. A lot of it with some of the standard summer check ups, but then lots of extra's that have come up this year, plus all the to dos with eye surgery. I was so tired on Thursday after the procedure, but did work and slept well that night and again last night. I knew Sept was going to kick my ars and still more to go. Anyways, I feel like I a jumping hurdles every week right now but don't have to explain that to any of you, do I? No one knows better than a cancer patient/survivor having something to do medically every two seconds.
I did not end up getting my Prolia shot in the end yesterday as I noticed a message on my home phone right before I went to work that came in at 7 a.m. that I would need to reschedule to next week. Well, i had told the girl on Wed that if we needed to reschedule, it might be awhile as I am having eye surgery next week but I guess none of that registered. I told myself to let it go and talk to my PCP again if I can either move my bone health care to her now, or maybe do another scan to see if I can come off the shots all together. The problem is that it is administered by the MO's office (who also managed my AIs when I was taking them), but I am off those now a good 18 months and this is the second time they have pushed out my apt for the shot. The girl called me later on my cell phone asking me to call and reschedule. I want to just see my MO's office once a year for my annual check in around any re-occurrence stuff. I was sort of relieved driving to work as I thought at least now I can have a better restful weekend without the aches that go with the Prolia stuff.
So cranky jazzy told herself it is important to get rested up and feel prepared for surgery this week. I have some things to get done at home this weekend but also going to get out for a swim and maybe to the state fair tomorrow. I gave myself permission to not go if there was not the time or energy, so I won't decide until tomorrow if I will go. The state fair is here every year, and there is always next year.
I did stop on the way home yesterday for some fall mums and other fun things for the gardens. It finally came out of the 90s this week and doing some repotting of things that crashed again in late August with the heat wave. I love mums and have some nice fall things in the works over here. Supposedly we have rain coming tomorrow (yay) which will also test my roof repair I had fixed yesterday morning.
Janky- I am having cataract surgery too. I know the process you are going through and it is just a lot to deal with on top of all the rest. But everyone (including people here on this thread) have said the results are quick and amazing. This is eye #1 for me, and I have the second eye planned for Thanksgiving week. I will be in your pocket Wed and we will have lots to share here when we are on the other side of it, yes?
Do you know about the de-cluttering thread on BCO? Several of us have been there for awhile and it is a great. I don't have the time or interest to do sales like that, but have found places that resell collectibles, home goods, etc. to be a great place to move along some of the better items. We have some great consignment places here in NM, but not every place does. I will get you the link and share it here soon. There may be easier ways to lighten your load and get some $$$ back too!
Cami- how is your UTI?
JCS- congrats on making it through chemo on friday the 13th. Nothing particularly good or bad happened yesterday. The harvest moon was pretty coming up in the clouds last night here in New Mexico.
Goldie- I have never been to Moab in the fall but think I need to put that on my bucket list. I am overdue for a visit up to that area.
ChiSandy- I had never heard anything about a limit of 6 Prolia shots. My MO's office thought I could come off of it after I finished the AIs. We checked my bone health last Dec after being off about 8 months and about the same. So I will ask if we can check again. I would like to get rid of these shots but also have osteo history in the family so I may need something else longer term. Most of the time, they don't give you anything for osteopenia. They gave me the Prolia to keep me from going down into osteoporosis.
NM- that drink looks really yummy. Like a creamsicle!
Okay, time for a nap. It's not even noon!

cami - the more I am on this thread the more I agree with you - it is the best! I know I can be grumpy, or silly or just me and there is nothing but love and support, so many great vibes! Is your uti all gone I hope?!
jazzy - how weird that we will for sure be in each other's pockets this week! This is my first eye, not sure when the next one is scheduled as my original date was January 28, 2020 but they had a cancellation which I am taking - so very glad as my vision is not the greatest. I will check out the link, but we do not have much in the way of consignment here in rural Alberta, I do put things on the buy and sells but that is so sporadic it does not seem worth while at times...
Well off to do some 'surfing and turfing' in the garage while the sun is still shining, then will settle in to a col bevvy once a few things are dealt with!
Thanks for the encouragement, positives, prayers and everything else you wise sisters send our way - cheers!

I guess things are different between regular insurance and Medicare supplements. The latter has been great for me except for one thing: no more manufacturer co-pay discount coupons. (They can only be used by patients with drug insurance coverage--but not if that insurance is Federally subsidized like Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare, or Fed. Employees' insurance). And my Prolia shots (not to mention that awful Zometa) are scheduled on the same day as my MO visits: lab, then MO, then to the chemo suite for the shot. The way that Kellogg works is that you make your followup appointment in advance, immediately after the one you just had. I will find out if the Prolia is working this Nov., when I have my next biennial DEXAScan (which my primary will have to order this time). Last time (March) my MO asked if I wanted to see her annually or continue semi-annually, so I chose the latter as sort of a security blanket. So I don't see her again till March 2020.
My primary finally got back to me, and said Bob was wise to suggest I restart iron supplementation. We'll test TIBC, iron, & ferritin in Oct. He said I'm only mildly anemic (and my 'crit is actually at the low limit of normal), so not to worry. Also wait till last wk. of Sept. for flu shot.
Cami, hope you continue to feel better and can find an anti-b that kicks the UTI's butt w/o kicking yours. Jazzy & Janky, here's to uneventful surgery and clearer vision. Kim, it's really weird--I have this recurring dream about discovering I have more kitties than I actually do, and they just wander into the house. But last night? Dogs. I've never had one, but I like them. First a Dalmatian-Lab mix, then some gigantic yellowish thing (size of a pony) with polka dots, then a border collie and finally some kind of terrier or mini with long, straight, brown hair streaked like tiger-eye or tortoiseshell. Before I could freak out, my kitties woke me up to feed them. (Maybe I should cut back on the CBD at bedtime).
Thurs. night Bob got off work early so we had dinner in Greektown at Santorini. We'd planned to share their specialty of whole red snapper or striped bass, but they had BBQ "young lamb" (isn't any non-young lamb a sheep?) on special and it was delicious. With it we had a red blend (Cab-Shiraz) from the island of Santorini. I managed to stay on my diet. No alcohol for me last night or today.

I thought Cami said she had a URI (upper raspatory infection), not a UTI. What ever it is, we want it gone!
Sandy, too funny about your doggie dream!
Well, I was right, only got 4 pints of tomatoes yesterday. But some is better than nothing.
Happy fun day Sunday!

OH MY POST JUST WENT POOF AND I WAS ANSWERING EVERYONE %&)((*&*&%%@!!@%^&*((_+ I tried searching it but IDK where it went.
Green tomatoes fried with green peppers and red---eyes being done, decluttering going on. Watching Netflix all nite 4 pints and yes a URI but much better. All right spread it around. Oh and the 13th is over, got chemo done JC. Oh and I was hysterically funny.
I got into Netflix's UNBELIEVABLE series last nite around 10pm and watched the whole thing til 4am so I see big napping for me today. But I did take my last steroid so that should help. and right now it's cloudy so who knows what that'll bring.
I wish everyone a great Sunday
