    mornin' ladies,

Great news Jazzy, seems like a long wait but then worth it. So relieved.

Here I am sleep, then awake, sleep then awake. WTF is going on.

Kim Leslie's Dr. said it sounds like necrosis but it's not, somehow it has more complications than that and much more rare. hahaha U know this house has nothing but WTF is it. Remember when one of the times I was in ICU for a few days and it looked really bad for me, then when I was moved to a room I was still so sick and upon getting released I remember asking the Dr. What happened and his DX was he'd call it a flook. O course I LOLed cuz I almost died and thought my obit would have said I died from a flook. A new medical term.

OK another first for me. I actually allowed my pic. taken with Joey <cuz he wanted to> THEN Leslie put it on B <brat> I had a scarf on cuz my hair is to gray, no makeup, I'm scrunched over <of course>and I look like Joey's Great grandma, that's not so great. UGH Now since not everyone feels the best they can feel I thought I'd copy it on here today so <believe me> u can have hours of laughter and as soon as u feel a little down u can always look at it and thank God for ur blessings. And the best part of this is u don't have to fake a good reaction, cuz I know. So u see the shame I put myself thru just to make sure u have a good laugh. I know I know I'm blabbering

Well Dora the explorer is on now. That was one of Joey's favorite cartoons UGH I used to dream about her demise and it was well thought out.

Hope Sunday is a fun day or at least relaxing or even more libation than usual <sounds the best> for everyone.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Mom's yard sale was a bit of a bust yesterday. She only had a little sign out, didn't have the garage door open, so it didn't look like there was anything going on so only 4 people stopped in, and those were all before I got there. I decided not to take Sadie at the last minute, and it was just as well, it was hot in the garage, and would have been too hot to leave her in the car when I did some errands and shopping on the way home. I'm staying home today to do some stuff around the house.

Illi--nice idea, the travel cocktail! Was it good?

Jazzy--Yup, ouch, but not very big in the grand scheme of things. I'm taking good care of it.HOORAY FOR B0 BIOPSY!

    Morning, Librarian, Minus!

Cammy Cat--Poor Leslie, so not fair that she has to go through some bizarre, unusual complication on top of everything else. So hard for everyone. I'd love to see the pic you had taken with Joey, so I can see how big he's gotten! And to think of your obit saying you died of a medical flook, that's pretty funny.

Hi friends- well I am back on the puter, as Cami would say. Feeling mostly recovered, although I had some GI issues yesterday that could have been a latent reaction to the meds. Here and gone and eyes adjusting and making sure I sleep with the patch on at night to keep my eye safe from rolling around on it. I am a thrasher at night. Back to work tomorrow (ugh).

My next follow up is on Friday and of course, drops 3X a day for the next three weeks. Then my final follow up sometime around the third week of October. Then we pause and then get ready for the second side in November.

Everyone said once you see how good the first side is, you will want the second side done right away. I am already there. Along with the blur, the cataract makes everything quite yellow....

Funny stories from the OR and the recovery room, they put these drops and gooey stuff as part of the last part of numbing up the eye. All I saw was this cool psychedelic blur on the surgery side and was grateful for the nice trip. Then in the recovery, I swear someone was talking to me about the zombie apocalypse and how to be ready for that, lol.

Thanks for all your support and good wishes. On to the family visit in a few weeks for balloon fiesta.

Have a good start to fall or spring, depending on which side of the equator you are hanging on!

And oldie but goodie. A friend of mine back east got to see Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis from the 5th Dimension at an east coast fair yesterday. So jealous, I love them. Sounds like they are good as ever and married 50 years now!

BTW, I love the mini wedding dresses too. So 1960's!

Jazzy, congrats on benign results AND having one "new" good eye! When my first patch came off, I kept alternately bllinking and marveling at the perfect, sharp, clear and color-saturated vision in one eye and the other seemingly peering through beige Vaseline. My optho suggested removing the lens for the "new" eye from my frames, but I tried it and it looked dorky--so I went to a local optical shop and had them put in a "plano" (literally, "flat" aka no correction) lens until I could be refracted 3 wks after getting the other lens done. I developed a nasty hematoma in the first eye after it turned out the implant needed sutures--and it looked gross (IIRC, I actually posted photos here--I shudder when I look at them on the phone). So I got a pair of Wayfarers and a fancier pair, with nonprescription lenses, and had them gradient-tinted so I could wear them at night (by day, I put those welders'-glasses eyeshades from the surgi-center over them). I could go out in public w/o scaring little kids, and at a hospital gala I looked like an International Woman of Mystery (some folks thought Bob was "cheating" on me with "her").

I decided not to go with just sunglasses & readers, since I really like ultra-sharp (20/10!) vision at night, and the implants correct for only distance, not midrange (i.e., my dashboard). I do keep cheap readers in various rooms, since presbyopia keeps creeping along and I like to do close work (NYTimes crosswords & acrostics) at times. I wear Transitions now; on sunny days for long drives (the lenses don't adequately darken inside vehicles with UV-protective tinted glass but once outdoors, take time to go clear again), I got a cheaper pair of Zenni progressive sunglasses (not polarized, because with polarized lenses you can't see the LED readout on a car's infotainment/nav screen); on really bright days or when driving west toward twilight, I put the cataract shades over even the sunglasses. I advise keeping those shades (or another pair) in the car with you at all times: you will be permanently more light-sensitive than before. A small price to pay to be able to recognize people's facial features, especially when they're backlit. Of course, under stage lights I still can't make out anyone's faces beyond the first row--glasses, implants, or not.

Saw Marilyn McCoo in a revival of Show Boat back in 2005 (Jerry Lewis played Applegate, the Devil). She was magnificent! (He did a ribald monologue in the middle of "Two Lost Souls" that had the audience in stitches).

Heidi is rebelling against her new food (Hill's c/d paté, since she hated Royal Canin Urinary SO, which was chunks in gravy--a format both my "furkids" detest). She was very hungry for her first meal after getting home from the vet, so she wolfed it down. But when she began to realize that her days of culinary variety are over, she "doth often protest." I have to sprinkle catnip on top and mix in a teaspoon of Happy's "cat crack" (commercial wet food--which he will have to give up once his shipment of Hill's i/d arrives). I need to stand guard so Happy doesn't nudge her away--he will eat anything in a dish. It takes several tries to get her to eat anything except his Purina kibble--which she's not supposed to eat, but will literally whomp him in the head to access it. My latest ploy is to put a couple of his kibbles (or Temptations Ocean Middles) atop her food and bury one inside or below. He, of course, has become addicted to his powdered probiotic and will lick the empty packet dry if I let him. The vet said she doesn't need it but it's safe for her too, so I may resort to that---so long as he doesn't smell it and further intimidate her away from her dish. Sibling rivalry--it's not just for humans anymore. And they've lived together for a dozen years!

Kim--OUCH! What is it with us BCO Drinking ladies and culinary battle scars anyway? Stick shift with a wounded hand? I'm impressed. Take care of it. Maybe we all need to learn to become ambidextrous, just in case!

Cami, so sorry about poor Les. I agree that it's more than just radiation necrosis at play--maybe a wound vac and then graft could work.

Ilona--sounds like you had a great time at RiotFest. Gordy & Leslie did too (he said it was definitely worth trading two days off from work). His highlights were Flaming Lips & the Raconteurs. Wish I'd gone, but I don't do well in mud; Bob had to work, covering for a colleague who was being sued (fortunately, the verdict came in for the defense).

The Madison gig went well. The commute up? Not so much. It's normally a 2-1/2 hr. drive, especially now that the speed limit is 70 most of the way and everyone goes 80. But all the way to Schaumburg, the tollway was backed up, due to a guy who apparently decided that no space in the parking lot at gigantic Woodfield Mall was close enough to Macy's (or his GPS went blooey), so he drove his huge SUV into the mall, through Sears, knocking over kiosks, caroming off storefronts (Forever 21, H&M, Vans) like a pinball--backing up and crossing the floor after hitting each storefront. He crashed into a pillar near Macy's; two off-duty Chicago cops (who were there shopping) dragged him out of the car, into Argo Tea, and hog-tied him to a chair till mall security & the Schaumburg could take him into custody. There were a few minor injuries (some cuts from broken glass and twisted ankles in shoppers running away from the car), but nothing warranting even an ER visit. His parents said he is on "medication" for a "medical probllem" but did not elaborate. Thus far, there was no motive stated, nefarious or otherwise.

And construction reared its ugly head over the state line, with a 6-car fender-bender pileup (5 SUVs & a pickup) s. of Stoughton--took half an hour to go 2 miles. The trip took >3-1/2 hrs. (Going home? 2 hrs.). We had a small crowd (my HS classmate, who doesn't do Facebook after having been hacked, went to the coffeehouse's normal location--under renovation after having been vandalized--instead of the temporary one. But the attendees tipped generously and we sold a CD.

Last night was the Little Company of Mary Hospital dinner-dance at the Chi. Yacht Club--DsOTD were Cooper's Hawk Oregon Brut, and Benziger 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. I wore a size 16 (no "W") cocktail dress, and it was loose! Last time I was able to wear it was our 30th anniv. party...in 2001! Also, for the first time since 2010, pantyhose. Not that they didn't fit, but I always sprain muscles trying to pull them on, and this time I used compression-wear donning gloves to avoid puncturing them. Didn't dare go to the restroom, lest I be unable to pull them back up. I just ordered a whole bunch of stay-up thigh-highs (the sole pair I had were starting to run). And instead of my orthotic flat dress sandals, I was able to wear ankle-strap 1-1/2" heels (albeit orthopedic--Aravon, by New Balance--with dress orthotics and strategic toe pads) all night w/o pain. Unfortunately, Bob's feet are in such rotten shape (hammertoes, calluses) that we couldn't dance. Poured like crazy going home--glad we took a Lyft instead of driving & valet parking. Passed a 3-car pileup on Lake Shore Drive, and for one car it was more than just a fender-bender.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day! Back to work and back to warm and muggy weather. It was so nice just hanging out on the deck yesterday. Sadie was happy to supervise all the neighborhood activities.

Jazzy--Glad the first cataract surgery went well, hope the second goes as well. Zombie apocalypse prepping in the recovery room, hmm?Did you learn anything useful? That's a great video!

Chi--wow, you really had a time with your cataract surgery! I can't even imagine. And the furbaby food wars--what a hoot to read! The things we go through for our pets. Love the "cat crack" reference in particular. The hand is doing well, the site of the tetanus booster is more sore than the hand now. Found some bandages big enough that I don't have to wrap the whole hand in gauze now and that's more comfortable, and more workable. Good heavens, what kind of medication makes a person use their car as a pin ball in a Mall?Glad no one was badly hurt. And summer is road destruction, ah, construction here, so I know what that delay is like. The dinner-dance sounds like it was fun, even if you couldn't dance. Good for you on the weight loss!

Cammy Cat--oh my goodness, you look wonderful and Joey looks so grown up!

Janky---the hand is healing nicely, still sore to touch (and when it gets bumped) but no sign of infection. I didn't take Sadie to work last week, thought about it and probably will take her in later this week, got a couple of long days so Friday should be short. If it works out that way she can go with me.

Morning, Teka! I wondered who the reflected person is, too!

Jazzy u'll be hearing from Joey later today, he was so excited and said how nice u are to even think of him. He knew exactly who he is too. Thanks Jazzy.

My family is going all crazy. Our cousin is in John Hopkins getting a heart operation. He's actually a son of all the cousins which my sister and I are the only 2 left. The young ones are starting to be the older ones now. The bigger the family seems like the bigger the problems. He has limphona <sp> too.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Wild and wooly thunderstorms overnight last night, got a full inch of rain from them. Lots and lots of lightening at one point. Sadie slept through the worst of it, then woke up and barked and carried on when it was almost over! Actually, I think she heard a critter or something outside and was reacting to that, but how she could hear anything through the rain and thunder is beyond me!

Cammy Cat--Do we need to exorcise your computer to get rid of the post stealing gremlin? So annoying to lose a post.

    Illi--GREAT PICS!GREAT DRINKS, too!

Cammy--prayers for your cousin in John Hopkins.

Hi friends- went back to work yesterday and was tired and with tired eyes by end of the day on the computer and with all the crazy that goes with this place. I am working strictly 8 hours a day this week, no longer days. In for day 2 shortly.

Cami- it sounds like it arrived, I was thinking it should be there by now and look forward to hearing from Joey! He is so adorbs in that photo.

Janky- I hope your eye is healing up well and keep up with the drops sister. I find the natural tears I do between eye drop cycles really help. Are you doing those too?

NM- I like how Sadie barks only when the storm is almost over. Late start, but doing her job, lol. We had rain overnight too and although storm Lorena is doing a number on the PHX area, the storm will not be coming up this way as predicted, but bringing moisture to the lower part of the state instead.

Hope everyone is having a good start to autumn, my fav season!

Morning all - must be rainy season cuz we had rain overnight here too! very chilly in the mornings, a prelude to winter I guess. My eyes are adjusting well, certainly a painless procedure, just a nuisance with no bending over or lifting for a while yet!

jazzy - yup, i am keeping up with the drops, have timers going off all day to remind me. I have my last pair of prescripton readers which I haven't used much and they are doing the trick for the closeup so that is good, I will see how my eyes do at my 2 week checkup and see if eye number 2 is being done as well.

illi - what fun, day to day colors for your outfits, and yummy cocktails too!

cami - sure hope things go better for your family, heart and lymphoma are biggies :( and then there is the post phantom, stealing all those wonderful words you write!

teka, memo, chi, JCS, goldie, hope all is well with you and everyone else here... Cheers
