Mornin' ladies,
Sandy a great pic. of you. Does ur DH eat in front of you??? If he does he must be Catholic. OK I'm not insulting anyone, well maybe I am.
Kim it's still dark here, but I slept pretty good last nite with no Xanax. If I have them I don't need them as much but if I don;'t, I really need them. My brain is such a mess.
OK Jazzy THAT many people, holy chit I think that would be more scary having to many people but the balloon must be gigantic for all those people.
Marty's Dr. gave him some pain meds <syrup> to take and none of the pharmacyies had it or heard of it around here. Anyway she had to drive about a 1/2 hr. from here to get it and then it cost almost 200.00, like there was nothing better to give him??? and cheaper. He's still miserable tho.
My niece stopped over yesterday just to visit. We just talked As usual it was nice, really nice.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! Another gray and gloomy ayem today, another drag my butt out of bed ayem. I do fine once I get out of bed, it's just that move of getting out of bed that's a struggle right now. Ah, well, this shall pass, eventually, right? Sadie just picks up her head and looks at me when the alarm goes off to see if I'm going to get up or hit the snooze. She's so adaptable!
Goldie--you may have a point about my body needing longer to recover from the odd hours. Boy, some parts of getting older are NOT fun! A Great Dane called Mouse?Too funny! Oh my goodness, Mouse is adorable! Love the way he can sit on the couch and still have his feet on the floor!
Jazzy--can't wait to hear about the balloon ride!
Librarian--Wonderful, indeed!
Cammy Cat--Poor Marty! I hope his throat pain isn't that high for that long! The doc should have given him something to help with that--there are a few things he can use to gargle with to help with the throat pain.Did you and Joey fall asleep doing something together?
Janky--YIKES!At least I'm not getting up to snow yet! Where do you live?
Morning, Illi!
Chi--somehow it's doesn't seem right that DH and the kittehs aren't fasting with you!
Cammy Cat--boy that black kitty with white paws can TYPE!! I hear you about the Xanax. Iv'e got some tucked away, haven't used them in months now, but feel much better for having them available. I think it's a human nature thing. So sorry Marty and your family had to go through all that hassle to find the syrup. So not fair.
Honey-Bourbon Toddy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 cup hot water
- 6 tablespoons bourbon or Apple Bourbon (see below for recipe)
- 2 3x1/2' strips lemon peel
- 2 cinnamon sticks
Recipe Preparation
- Stir honey and water in a 2-cup measuring cup until honey dissolves. Add bourbon (or better yet, Apple Bourbon, in which case you'll use 1 Tbsp. honey). Divide between 2 Toddy glasses. Twist a strip of lemon peel over each drink, then add to glass. Stir each with a cinnamon stick and serve.
- To make Apple Bourbon, combine a 750-ml bottle of bourbon, 4 cored, sliced Fuji apples, and 4 cinnamon sticks in a pitcher. Cover; chill for 3 days. Strain and sip of use in recipe above.
From <https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/honey-bourbon-toddy>
Cammy---Tell Marty to mix this up WITHOUT the Bourbon for now!Warm honey is very soothing for the throat.

JCS, beautiful beach pic.
Janky, is the snow there to stay. Yikes and it's just the beginning of Oct!
Cami, so how is Marty doing? You and Joey fell asleep during a scary movie? LOL. It's not the size of the balloon per se, but the size of the basket. Recockulous the price of meds. I hope it helped Marty.
Illimae, yes MOUSE, but should be MOOSE!
Sandy, new avitar I believe? You look great. I can not do the dark rim glasses, don't look good on me at all.
NM, hopefully you will be fully back come next Monday. FOCUS....love this! Janky is in Canada, I believe Alberta.
Jazzy, do you know if the balloon itself has to be bigger for the larger baskets? You getting below freezing temps tomorrow night and Friday night?

Hi ladies- balloon week is going well. However, we are expecting a cold front and possible freeze tomorrow night and Friday night too (eek) which is early, but think last year, we had snow and a freeze early too. I think the special shapes glow where I plan to take my nephew will be a bust tomorrow with the winds, but that was an optional thing, and we have other plans on Friday for a glow and dinner that should work out just fine. My sister and her partner start driving out today and will be here tomorrow, nephew arrives around noon tomorrow by air. I had my house cleaned Monday, food purchased and think I am ready to go. Working on site today for the client project, half day at home tomorrow and then away we go!
Janky- eek, you have snow but know that is pretty typical for your location. I think I read some places in Maine got snow too, but will wait to hear what NM says about that. The Rockies/Denver area are expected to get some this week too. I am personally not ready for any of that, it was so hot here into Sept, I am really enjoying the fall now. I have mums all over the place and call myself the crazy mum lady!
Cami- the balloon rides cost on average $500 a person this time of the year. Just think of the money they make when they take up that many people. We won't know until we go how many are in our basket but know it will be full. Everyone asks me if I am afraid of heights and say "oh heck yeah" but I know to look out and not down.
A nurse colleague of mine asked me if I had talked to my eye doctor about doing this ride and with my eye still healing? I said no but thought she was right, I should call and ask. They said I have no restrictions at this point. My friend and her family have had problems with detached retina's after their surgeries so she was encouraging me to be extra careful. Her worry was a rough landing, but there are more concerns with that if it happens, right? As my nephew says, it will be exciting and terrifying all at the same time. Pretty much!
Ill- when do you and DH move to west TX or did you do that already? I seem to think you are still in Houston though?
Chi- thinking of you with the holiday this week. Hoping little Happy is doing better.
Time for my walk and then the trek in to work. Will be back next week with lots of updates to share from the fam visit! Up up and away.....

By the way, not sure how many of you watch The Voice, I am a big fan but don't always see it all the time. But caught this gal last night and just wanna say, she has my vote to win this season.

cami - I hope the 'elixir' works on Marty - maybe it ust needs time to get in his system...I don't even try to sleep without my 'pill' anymore, just one less thing to think on I guess. How is the job going? keeping the men in line?! I am so glad your niece comes by, we have no siblings with kids close by, so I rely on kids and friends...
nm - I have succumbed to the furnace on continuously, it is so cold here, though apparently it will warm up next week; if that is the case I will shut it down. Are you back to a more normal set of working hours? Give Sadie an extra rub today!
illi - how are you??
I am off to meet with a Medical Marijuana Doctor today to see what is out there for bone and joint pain and lack of sleep (without the aforementioned pill). I am pretty sure I cannot use some products due to interaction with my other medications, but I am curious to see if there is anything available, I would love to wake up and not hurt, so we will see! Cheers!

Good morning 🙂
Jazzy, we haven’t moved yet, DH needs to go through everything of his to pack and I suspect the mountain of stuff is overwhelming. I’ve been packing a few boxes at a time and could be ready in a matter of days but it’s looking like the electrical and interior at the cabin may not be completed until after winter, so my revised goal is Spring.
Janky, I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Cancer is stable in brain and body and I’ve been back to the gym for the last week or so. I’m a little bored at the moment but have more travel plans later this month, so that’ll be fun.

Cami, I get even: I can eat steak, wings or burgers in front of him on Fridays during Lent! But I usually make fish if I'm cooking. (Bob says that next year, for Lent, he will give up...Mass).
Marty's pain med syrup was $200? Yikes! Was that viscous xylocaine? Used to be much, much cheaper.
Fasting seemed easier this year, since my diet has me doing intermittent fasting anyway. Sleeping in (not going to morning service) helped too. I did have black coffee, for medicinal purposes (avoid headache and keep my lungs open), but I didn't let myself enjoy it. I did go to the cello interlude recital, Mincha (afternoon), Yizkor (memorial) and Neillah (closing) services. (The new prayerbook lacks a Holocaust memorial service, which added about 1/2 hr, but ever since our Rabbi Emeritus--who left Munich just ahead of Kristallnacht and lost his family--died at 101, it just wasn't the same; he made it poignant and memorable). The break-the-fast table had only grape & orange juices, no wine--so I drank water. I waited till I got home and made dinner to have my DOTD, a Woodbridge chardonnay.

Mornin ladies,
Jazzy 500.00 sounds like a lot, but maybe it isn't to keep those balloons going. OK see the huge basket OMG u r brave.
Well Kim the weekend is coming, what r u and Sadie planning, I hope it's fun stuff and not cleaning. And I think my new word is FOCUS, like that.
Illi I'm glad to hear ur doing well.
Janky let us know what the Dr. says about what u should or could have. Interested.
Jay didn't even thing about ur eye with the balloon ride, good thing u asked.
Sandy I figured ur DH was Catholic, ever since the permission was given to be able to eat meat on Fridays Catholics like to tease anyone who at any time can't have food. I know Lent gets a confusing time now, but what's one day without meat there is so much more to eat now anyway. And I don't know what the Dr. gave Marty for pain but LORI he's in the hospital now.
We all know if there's any chance of complications Marty will have it. They took him off that stupid syrup and giving him an IV and other stuff and told him he'd be in there a couple of days. IDK it's always something goofy with Marty but I think he's better off there. Cuz we couldn't stand the moaning here. I know I sound bad but.......
Well we see what today brings and hoping everyone has a good day.

Good evening all! Well my Medical Marijuana appointment was very disappointing! It is legal in Canada, so he was more than willing to give me a prescription BUT he did not even consult my medical history and when I asked about interaction with the meds I am on - he says there is no data showing interactions with ANY meds - are you kidding me??! So I will check with my Pharmacist and Pzifer and see what they say. Wish I had a more definitive answer (but I will continue asking)! More later...Cheers!

Go to drugs.com and look up interactions with your meds. There is definite data as to which drugs compete with at least CBD (if not THC) for the CYP40 liver enzyme pathway--some are made too powerful, some rendered less effective. Interesting that in Canada (as in Israel) you get a prescription for medical marijuana--here in the U.S., doctors can't "prescribe" any kind of cannabis, but they can certify that you have a medical condition that statutorily qualifies you for MMJ, which certification you submit along with your application for an MMJ card. Isn't recreational weed legal in Canada? Are you anywhere near a dispensary? Or can you phone or e-mail one with a list of your meds? "Budtenders" usually know more than do doctors about cannabis-drug interactions.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF Day! Sorry I missed checking in yesterday, I got the class info e-mail for next week's class, was setting up the e-mails that I have to do for that (thank goodness for the ability to set up emails and schedule the day/time they get sent!) and by the time I got that done it was time to head out to work. Mostly cuz I hit the snooze button so many times before getting up and didn't have my usual hour to do my morning stuff. But getting up was a bit easier this ayem, so progress is being made. Sadie says "hi" to everyone!
Goldie--the change up from usual work to teaching a class always helps me refocus (giggle, giggle) and wakes me up. They say a change is as good as a rest, and I believe that!
Jazzy--Maine did get some snow on Mount Katahdin, which is typical for this time of year. I hadn't thought about the balloon ride after eye surgery. I wonder if the balloons go high enough that the pressure change would be an issue? Glad your friend was thinking of you, better to check and be sure.
Janky--I am back to normal work hours, only have one early start day next week and one the week after. The really crazy hours are usually only one week out of the month. Since I control the class schedules I can make sure there is plenty of recovery time between odd hours. And the CPR class at 11 pm was an oddity. Sadie says "Thank you" for the extra belly rub!
Illi--glad to hear you are doing well, sorry about the delay on the cabin work.
Chi--a Holocaust memorial service with someone who was there must have been very intense and emotional.
Cammy Cat--Sadie and I will be prepping for the review class I'm teaching the first part of next week this weekend. And maybe some cooking. I often get the urge to cook in the fall. So sorry to hear Marty is in the hospital, but I hope that means he is getting better pain management. It is very hard to hear someone being uncomfortable when you can't do anything to help.
Chi--Canada legalized medical marijuana in 2001, that's why docs there can prescribe it. US Docs working in states can't prescribe it because the prescription authorization process is partially Federal, and Mj is still totally illegal at the Federal level. Very crazy situation. It's the same reason that someone can take medical MJ in a private pay nursing home, but not in one that accepts Medicare or Medicare (Federal monies). It's past time MJ was legalized, or at least liberalized, at the Federal level.

Just jumping in, been busy cleaning and getting ready to leave Monday. I have labs today, results tomorrow, needless to say I'm very nervous! Onc on Monday and flying out Tuesday to see MIL in Ohio. Back on the 22nd, and no internet unless we go somewhere that has free wi fi. 19 degrees here this morning and another freeze tonight. Have another family friend in the hospital that is not doing well. I will be so glad when this year is over and praying that next year will be better!
Happy Fried Day!

Got back from the beach yesterday afternoon. Unpacked, did laundry, cleaned the guest room and ran to the grocery. Repacked to get ready to leave again this afternoon after chemo. A high school friend of my husband's is spending the weekend so I had to get things tidy for him. Have chemo this morning and will wear the Neulasta patch to the beach. This is the card playing group, so there will be adult beverages! I am looking forward to next week when there is very little going on. I can clean my house, rest and catch up on silly things. Sounds like everyone has had a busy week! Good luck to all having tests and/or procedures. I will try to post some pics maybe next week.
Take care all

Hi folks- the fam is here and everyone arrived on time and safely. However, they are all tired and my nephew is adjusting to the altitude and feeling it so we are slowing things down and no early morning to the field today and still waiting to hear if they are going up. Everything got cancelled with the winds and cold front that moved in yesterday, and so we just had some meals together and got our visiting under way. Love having my young man here with me at the house and enjoying catching up on things. Today we have an evening dine and glow event that should be fun!
Cami- I think the ride is at least an hour, maybe a bit longer?
NM- no issues with the ride. The balloons go up a couple thousand feet.
Goldie- I saw on FB you are 19 this morning, we are 36 over here. Covered up what I could last night, especially some outside succulents I plan to bring inside soon but not yet. I saw parts further north got snow yesterday!
Hope everyone has a good day and a long weekend if you get Columbus Day off. Out here in NM, we celebrate Indigneous People's day.

Happy Fried Day - goldie, I LOVE it! This has been a tough year here as well, losing friends, new diagnoses with others and just the realization that BC is not the only beast in town - ALS. MS - nasty, horrible 'creatures' too...stay warm in Ohio, when I travel I have to rely on free wifi, so my interactions are spotty too. Wishing you great results on your labs.
chi - Wow, lots of great info for me to look into. Yes even recreational weed is legal now! The doctor gave me 3 online sites to check out for ordering oils, gels and vape products. It is that liver enzyme interaction that I am concerned about, and yes we actually have a dispensary that just opened October 5, which I have not yet checked into - this weekend for sure. The larger centers like Calgary and Edmonton have dispensaries that have been up and running for quite a while. I will be chatting with a 'budtender' soon
NM -glad to hear you control the class schedules and I am sure Sadie will be a big help preparing this weekend!
cami - I luv those kittens, my favorite orange and white and we have snow here in Alberta, hopefully not too much more for a while yet. I will be looking into Sandy's info soon, no energy at all this week, very stressful for me.
jazzy - Enjoy your ride, I have a terrible fear of heights that has worsened in time, but the thought is 'wow' - enjoy your 'trip' and your family, so nice they are around this weekend.
JCS - enjoy your warm, sandy beach days, hoping to be in your part of the world in February.
It is our Thanksgiving weekend here, so I will be cooking turkey and stuffing, my DIL and DH will be doing everything else which is so nice for me, I am hoping that the energy I don't seem to have, returns after sharing a family feast for which I don't have to do much preparation. Have a great weekend everyone. Cheers!

Mornin ladies,
Janky I forgot u live in Canada and totally forgot about ur Thanksgiving. But didn't realize it's before Halloween. So in November u have no Holiday??? And that's why u have snow so early, but October isn't so bad for having snow for you. Janky I had girl cats and they were indoor cats. <separate times> and every nite they slept in my arms and when I had no hair my cat would sit behind me hold my head and lick my head for a while, and even when I came home from work I'd get this huge welcome home. It;s funny cuz tho I had them at different times they both did so many of the same things with me. And each one loved Marty and when they came over Leslie would literally get pushed away so they could be closer to Marty. And each watched over Joey. I miss having a cat but this dog is so possessive I think it would be a disaster.
Jazzy those balloons are amazing, they must cost a fortune. People don''t have their own balloons, no wonder each ride costs so much. It's almost like no 2 balloons are alike. U guys must be having so much fun, catching up and sight seeing and u know the best restaurants. U would be the best tour guide, hey u can do that when u retire...u'd have so much fun and meeting interesting people. U all look so good in the pics, love that u always take them.
It's been all rainy here and getting cooler now too. The schools are closed Monday, I guess we still celebrate this, but I know business don't close so most people are working. Oh one of my cousins who lives in Washington D.C. is coming in next weekend and she'll stay with Jodie and I think I will too. She's an attorney with FEMA, I think that's the right name...she used to live around here and she's another of my favorites <I guess I have quite a few but honestly they are not just loads of fun they're just nice. And u all know I'm a big cuddler and so is she.>
I officially start my Christmas shopping in October buying a little at a time cuz I won't get hit at one time. Of course I have whittled down my presents <which I hate> cuz I love giving gifts to as many as I can, so some of my spirit has slipped.Well I'll see what I can do this year.
Well this is the start of the weekend and I member JC has some fun stuff going on and I hope so do others and feel well.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sadie and I have decided that part of the reason I am feeling so tired lately is that the house is often very chilly and I'm using up energy trying to stay warm, so I've gone ahead and turned on the heat. At least for the weekend. I can't stand to see Sadie shivering and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Goldie--praying for good lab results, a speedy recovery for your friend, and a safe and happy trip!
Cammy Cat--don't you just hate it when the fingers tell the computer to do something that the brain didn't authorize? I am looking forward to the class, I usually enjoy it greatly.
Librarian--boy you are one busy person! Hope thechemo goes without incident and the card weekend at the beach is fun!
Jazzy--It's nice to be able to just get started with the visiting, but sorry your family is tired and needing to adapt. I bet the dine and glow will be marvelous. Starting to get frost warnings here some nights, did have a freeze warning for the northern part of the state last week. Tiz the season! Maine just changed Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day.I was kind of surprised at that move after the past year or two of everything with a Native America type name being changed to something not offensive to Indigenous Peoples. I would think having a day would be offensive, too, since that is singling them out, but apparently having a holiday is a good thing. So confusing about what is offensive to whom and what can be said in a public setting nowadays.
Janky--Oh yes, Sadie loves to help me get ready for class. She takes the things I print off the printer and packs them for me sometimes. Trouble is, I plan to pack them in my notebook or one of the class folders, and she packs them in her crate, or under the bed, or under the ottoman when she's done chewing on them! Gotta love the pooch version of helping! Happy Thanksgiving!
Jazzy--oh my goodness, look at those balloons! What fun that must have been!
Cammy Cat--I call Columbus Day one of the half-a$$ed holidays--some places closed, some open, hard to tell which will be which from year to year.Half the doctor's offices close, some businesses close, some don't, just confusing and crazy.
Ooh, nice DOTD, Cammy, thanks!

Not a happy camper. TM's took another big leap. So time to move on to something different. Here are my numbers from the last 2 years.

Jazzy: What gorgeous balloon pics!
Goldie: So sorry about those numbers. Hope things get under control soon.
Mainer: Get that heat adjusted! Still in the 80’s here.
Different beach. Different marsh view.
