    Mornin' ladies,

Sandy is that "Happy" oh how cute, well they all are to me.I didn't have any love for cats til I was in my 60;s then I went crazy.Never never thought I would like cats. I've told u gals about myHS boyfriend who used to bring me a BD present every year. Well when I first had my cat he sat down and pushed her away, I never let him in my house again, well I still took the BD presents tho. All ur wines always make me want wine again, my "special used to be drink" I enjoy them thru u. So drink a little more.

Misty except for turkey everything else is great to eat. But my DD is the only one who makes stuffng like my mom did. <she taught her> Remember when I told u all when my mom was given so long to live she started teaching the foods we liked, well she didn't teach me, The kitchen was not a room I was good in. No No not the bedroom, the room that had the TV, my best room. Misty how's. the bed going for u now.

Janky sounds like u had a great Thanksgiving, it's so nice when family gets together.

I hate when we don't hear from Jazzy and Lori at this time. But having her nephew there had to be a big help. He looks adorable and Jazzy always has a great smile. But thinking of both of them

Kim u must really be in a hurry, I'll see what I can muster up for a drink. They don't compare to urs but better than nothing.

Remember I get to complain here and my pain is worse than usual the last couple of days, so I upped my codeine a couple of pills, still within my range, I think, well maybe, Oh Hell I don't know. Well shower today and I hope I can do it, I know I'm such a baby and my phone started. so I'd better get going.

Hi ladies- I am going off line for awhile. My SIL is still in ICU but showed some signs of improvement. My days are long and keeping up with family and friends around the situation as best I can.

I have my final eye apt tomorrow for my left eye that had the surgery in Sept, and if all is clear, I will begin planning for rightie next month. I have friend here helping me with that surgery, and called here today and gave her some updates on the situation, but that I am focused on getting my other eye done as scheduled. My sister has what she needs with place to stay and a doctor friend who lives here helping. Prolia shot tomorrow too, and expect aches and pains this weekend too. But my PCP said to keep up with the shots.

I will be back in November sometime and wish you all the best Heart

Jazzy, pop a Claritin (or generic store-brand loratidine) tonight. It'll help lessen any aches & pains from the Prolia shots (I never had any side effects with my Prolia shots). Take another one tomorrow night. Continued healing thoughts for your SIL.

No alc. for me tonight. Gonna mix Stevia-sweetened lemonade with "gingergrass" CBD selltzer, maybe garnished with mint or rosemary from my garden. Wish I liked hard booze cocktails: we have limes, a bottle of Cruzan white rum, and are growing enough mint to keep the entire block in mojitos!

    .Mornin' ladies,

JAZZY NOVEMBER??? Holy chit Always wishing the best for u and ur family, but I will miss u so.

Sandy sorry but ur drink sounds boring this time but that's all right I thought of the mojitos so that was good. My older DD has all the fresh flavors for just about everything in her garden too.

My niece stayed about 3 hrs. yesterday, she's such a doll. I had a harder time with my shower tho my pain has been a little more now, but she was a huge help. And we talked about the reality shows we both watch, and had a good laugh. And of course a lot of other things, she calls it her therapy time, ffor me too.

I get to meet my cousins new GF this weekend. As soon as they get serious she seems to get out of the whole relationship. I told her to try a man, they're just as aggravating probably more so. Her las GF she was planning on marrying, but never happened. I told her u fought to get marriage legalized then u blow it anyway. My family is all goofy.and we're spreading it to other states.

Saying hello to everyone, it seems quiet in here.

Mornin ladies, or am I alone now.

This thread doesn't look very inviting to anyone looking around for some new people, I can't do this alone, ya' know. OR CAN I, DUM DUM DUUUUM <special effects>

Marty went to the Dr. and he said people of his age can take as long as 6 weeks to really feel good, poor guy and he did go back to work, lost almost 20 lbs. Well if it din't hurt so much I'd like my tonsils out. But knowing me I'd have all ice cream and gain 20 lbs.

I was up with Joey yesterday and spent a little time before school and I thought, boy is Leslie lucky with him. for a few yrs. now he makes his own breakfast, makes the coffee, makes his lunch, makes his bed and washes his clothes without ever being told to.Then I thought I taught him how to do all that stuff as soon as he was tall enough to reach things. I was the wicked grandma and she's benefiting from it. Brat.

I want to goto Jodie's today, right now , of course, I feel like chit hoping to feel better later, but I won't gotil later this afternoon, it gives me some time. Jeez everything takes me so long to do now. I have to do a little at a time. I'm sure .I'll ask Joey to help me. It takes him like 5 to 10 mins. to do what takes me about 1 hr. to do. I was always slow doing things but now it's an effort, before it was just me being slow.

I hope everyone has a good weekend, I know some of u have some fun plans so that's good.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! The power went out just after I posted on Thursday ayem, was on again when I got home Thursday peeyem, then went out Thursday evening around 8 peeyem, and stayed out until almost 3 peeyem! Not sure why the long outage the day after the big storm came through, especially since the big storm was not such a big deal around here. On the coast and in the southern part of the state it was pretty intense, but central Maine got off relatively easily. The CPR classes went well, got 7 more people certified, including the facility Administrator, who then sent out an e-mail to all the admin folks that they should sign up and get certified, too, and was very complimentary about my teaching! Boy does that feel nice! Sadie is mad at me for not taking her with me, but she was far more comfortable here at home with soft chairs to curl up in rather than cold, hard tile floors. And she forgave me after some extra belly rubs. I think she was as happy as I was when I told her about the Admin's e-mail!

Cammy Cat--I keep a Belly Rub account going for Sadie and add one in every time someone asks. I try to keep the account up to date by giving the belly rubs the same day!

Misty--the gung ho people are good with other gung ho people, but they can make it harder for the folks who read a bit slower or need a little more time to think. Keeping a balance is a challenge, sometimes.

Janky--a little bit at a time is the way to go. Baby steps add up!

Chi--Wow, what a selection of wines and foods!$500 for a magnum? Out of my budget, that's for sure. It must be pretty darn good stuff, though! Congrats on being so close to your goal!

Cammy Cat--the drinks you come up with are great! Don't dis yourself! Besides, drinks from different points of view and different tastes are good for adding variety and "educating our palates"! Hope the pain is better with the upped dosage.

    Yummy Rum Runner!

Jazzy--ongoing prayers for you and your family. Update us when you can, and keep taking care of yourself as well as your sister and SIL.

Chi--ah, nothing like a big patch of mint!

Cammy--Like the Gin Rickey! No you are not all alone, I was just electricity impaired yesterday. Funny how it seems to take more effort and more time to do things every year that passes.Love the Malibu Bay Breeze! Sounds and looks so summery.

LOL, boycotting no alcohol mouthwash!!!!Only you, Cammy!

Good morning, lovely ladies! I know my time spent here has been intermittent, but I just read through many posts and am saddened to read the worrisome news for some of you. Goldie, I pray that your doctors find the right combination of meds to stabilize your numbers for you, and Jazzy, prayers for all that you and your family are going through. I love this group because you all sound so fun with interesting lives and you support each other so well. A true sisterhood in my opinion! And of course I love the drink recipes and cat pictures!!

I had a stressful and sleepless week after getting a call from my surgeon on Tuesday evening that my MRI test from last Friday had something enhance so they wanted to do a biopsy. (My first one after undergoing treatment) I tried not to panic because I remembered him saying prior to the MRI not to panic if I received a call back because they have a relatively high rate of false positives. However, it was still quite difficult not to let my mind wander and go to worst-case scenarios. I had my follow up tests yesterday and after finding the questionable spot on ultrasound, they could tell it was just a normal lymph node and that there wasn't even a need to biopsy. So very relieved!!! I guess the ups and downs of tests from here on out will be a roller coaster of emotions, but for now, I am good. It looks like today is shaping up to be a beautiful fall day, so I will take full advantage. There's always something about breast cancer that reminds me the little things can wait sometimes and that life is meant to be enjoyed. I think I'll clean the bathrooms tomorrow, or whenever.... lol! I might need to get a last round of golf in before I clean and put away my clubs for the winter. The stand up paddle board got put away just a few weeks ago. I was able to use that much later into the fall than I thought I would. My bicycles are still out but they didn't see much road time this year as I just didn't have the energy to climb hills.

I was in a celebratory mood last night after my good news, so I opened a bottle of Saggio wine from Ventosa Vineyards in the Finger Lakes region. I truly do not like the Pennsylvania and Ohio local wines, but some of the Finger Lakes wines (New York) are quite good. They are made from European grapes as the climate is similar. The Saggio I had last night is a combination of cabernet savignon, cabernet franc, merlot, and syrah. My husband and I took a short trip there before the school year started and came home with 33 bottles of wine lol! For anyone within driving distance of that region, it is quite a lovely place to visit.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend with time to relax, rejuvenate, and spend time with loved ones!

    Good morning!

NM, please add a belly rub to Sadie’s account for me 😁

And I love the Malibu bay breeze but I’d had to substitute the rum (Malibu tasted the same as suntan lotion smells to me, not a great association).

I’ve been reading but don’t have much to add at the moment.

Thinking of all of you and wishing all a great day.

Good morning all!Special thanks to cami for keeping the post 'posted' ;) Who knew colgate didn't add alcohol?!

SUPer - welcome back - this thread is wonderful! So glad your results cleared up for you, yayy. We never really had much summer here in Alberta, then had a few lovely fall days last week, so no extra outdoor activities here, glad you could paddleboard longer. Mybike was out but I didn't even get out once as I had no energy, though I do go to an exercise class regularly :)

Jack - this is the place to get fantastic drink recipes - welcome!!

NM - just knowing you from your posts I can 'see' you are a really good teacher, I am sooo glad you got this position, such a blessing! Woof to Sadie.

goldie - hoping and praying you find an answer sooner than later and it all goes well.

jazzy - thinking of you and yours and sending prayers and positives to you all.

I am still exhausted, and am starting to think it is the meds I take, ugh, sure hope not, but all of a sudden I am experiencing side effects that I never had before and I am not a happy camper at all :(

illi, misty, mema, jcs, chi and everyone else - have a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend, Cheers!

Cami, I had my tonsils out at age 7, and to this day I still can't stand vanilla ice cream!

Last night was Bob's 70th birthday party at Cellars (though today is his actual birthday, but Gordy works Saturday nights). We had a total of 19 people and pretty much stayed till the last dog died. (No animals were harmed in the writing of this post). We had Juve y Campos cava, a Gavi, and two Cabernet Sauvignons: 2014 St. Supery from Napa, and 2014 Opio from Paso Robles.

The Finger Lakes AVA is on my wine regions bucket list.

SUper, hooray for false alarms! I'd have been shocked if they'd found a recurrence of such a non-aggressive breast cancer so soon.

Today was the first staging rehearsal for the Bar Show--the quartet I'm in is a number about Konmari, the concept of decluttering championed by Marie Kondo. We're all playing ourselves as women jettisoning stuff that doesn't "spark joy" for us. The irony is that in real life I am somewhere on the continuum between "pack rat" and "hoarder." The song is a parody of "Material Girl," and I get to channel Madonna...sort of. Anyway, this was the first time anyone in the cast or staff has seen me without a blazer this season, and they all want to know how I lost the weight!

Rehearsal was great, but "getting there" was not "half the fun," as the old Pan Am ads used to say. I didn't feel like walking 3 bl. to the CTA station in the early morning chill, and certainly didn't want to drop $37 to park down in the S. Loop and still have to walk another 3 bl. So I ordered a Lyft--and after what seemed like an eternity, the message came up "nearby driver found;" ETA was 13 min. Uh, no--I live around the block from a huge colony of taxi drivers, so I figured I'd walk over to Broadway and hail one. But what the hey, give Lyft one more chance, right? This time the new driver's ETA was 3 min. Or so I thought--traced his path on the app's map and he kept making cockamamie wrong turns. I had to call him four times--at one point he said he was in front of my house...but on a street 2 blocks away. I had to yell at him so he could hear me--I told him to ignore the stupid app and listen to my directions.

15 min. after I called him I saw him emerge from my alley...about to turn the wrong way again! I corrected him and he pulled up. He asked me "Where is this Plymouth Court--is it downtown?" I asked him if he was from around here and he replied he'd just arrived in Chicago and this was his second day driving. (!!!). His English was very rocky, and he was older than me. I said, "now listen carefully--follow my directions, including which lane to take." Of course, he ignored my directions, saying he had to use the "nav," but that "wi-fi is slow." (Yup--the guy didn't have a cellphone data plan, so his phone was relaying from free hotspot to free hotspot and getting dropouts).

I barely made it on time (took 1 hr 5 min from the time I ordered for a trip that usually takes 25 min. on a Sat. morning), only to learn one of the women in my scene had gotten stuck at an open drawbridge (this is the time of year when sailboats go from the marinas to drydocks inland). This was only the second time in all my years of using rideshares that I didn't leave a tip and rated a driver only 1 star. Of course, he will do the same to me, ruining my 5-star rating. I was relieved to emerge from rehearsal and find it was 65 degrees, so I took the train home. (Before sunset it reached 73 in Lincolnwood, where I was shopping).

Going upstairs now to "Konmari" the hell out of my closet and clothes racks, purging them of anything 1X or larger, plus Chico's size 3s & 4s (and some XLs are swimming on me). At Kohl's today, was even able to fit into some M tees!

Janky, you are in Alberta? What a gorgeous area! I was there about 14 years ago and skied at Banff, Lake Louise, and Sunshine Village. I remember seeing so many mountain goats as we drove to the ski areas each day, and we even saw a moose right in the town of Banff! I have always wanted to go back in the summertime. Sorry that you didn't have much of a summer there this year. I cannot imagine biking in that area; it must be quite hilly! So sorry also to hear you have been feeling exhausted lately. :-(

Chi, so true about hooray for false alarms! I also would have been surprised if something had recurred already. I know my risk of recurrence with my stats is low, so I kept focusing on that to get me through the week. I have a pretty strong family history of breast cancer with family members having recurrences and being diagnosed in both breasts with different cancers, but so far I have been lucky and am so grateful. My younger sister was diagnosed at 36 with a more aggressive cancer, and she just reached her twelve year survival mark! Cute story about my sister-we are both school teachers. She teaches third grade, and I teach high school seniors. At the start of this school year, I was covering a classroom for another teacher and a student kept looking at me and finally said that I looked like his third grade teacher. I laughed and asked was it Mrs. C? When he said yes, he then said, "She was amazing. She had cancer and beat it." I had to smile at that!

That Lyft ride sounds so frustrating!! Crazy that someone who has such little familiarity with an area as large as Chicago would be a rideshare driver!

Cam, I always get a kick out of your cat pictures! That one really made me laugh for some reason!

I forgot to post an after-dinner drink recipe yesterday that I meant to share. I remember a while ago Chi posted the aperol spritz which I always enjoy. We visited my brother last weekend, and he made us a new drink with aperol. All he did was fill a glass with ice and fill it about 1/3 with the aperol and 2/3 with plain carbonated water. Then he threw in a whole basil leaf. I did not think I would like it at all and even declined his offer to make me one. However, after tasting my husband's, I decided I needed one too. It definitely was not as sweet as the spritz, but since aperol is not bitter like campari, it was very smooth. We enjoyed them after indulging a bit too much at an Italian festival! Maybe a good way to use up some remaining basil before the hard frosts hit!

    Smile

    Mornin Ladies,

Welcome Jack---yes this is the place and if u like wine even more so. Welcome.

Super that's always a scare, anytime they need to :check: something u wonder, now what. Good to hear it was OK tho---My favorite line from the Drs. is well we have t watch this. Why do they bother putting something in ur head if at the time it's not watchable. GRRR Good u celebrated, any thing good is worth the happiness.

Kim with ur passion with what u do I've always thought they should clone u and u'd be teaching all over. And I'm not surprised that more people are signing up, I know I would. And yes Sadie can't get enough rubs, she's worth every single one and more.

Illi it's always nice to see u poop in. And I saw the commercial for Colgate and had to let u gals know. I remember a woman I worked with at NY Life Ins. and she was a working alcoholic and would bring mouthwash to work and drink that oooooick.

Sorry Sandy I had to LOL at how long it took u to get somewhere. And WOW to u for loosing all that weight, u've really worked hard. Bob's party sounded fun, but everything u do always sounds fun, but this was special, Haha I'm older that ur DH. Why am I saying Haha. Any updates on Gordy and Leslie???

    I miss Lori and Jazzy.

Leslie had to get another MRI this week, she's always seeing some Dr. every week. And Marty is finally feeling a bit better. Jeez. I'm surprised Leslie doesn't glow in the dark.

Well I didn't go to my DD's house yesterday...I get so mad when I can't do something that I really want to do. But they're coming over Monday morning for breakfast so I'll get to visit for a while anyway.

Well Hello to everyone I missed and have a good Sunday

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Nothing much going on in this part of the world today, just going to clean up the basement a bit before the furnace guy comes to do the cleaning tomorrow. Sadie says HIto everyone!

Welcome, Jack-Bear! Yup, we usually have a DOTD (Drink of the Day) here in the Lounge, and talk about wine and beer and all sorts of stuff.

Super--Morning! Oh my goodness, you had quite the experience with scanxiety! It happens to all of us, at some point, I think. We can know in our heads that a finding is likely to be a false positive, but the waiting for confirmation testing can be horrible! Glad you got good news relatively quickly. Also glad you found a good source of wines you like!

Illi--1 belly rub added to Sadie's account, scheduled to be dispensed at bedtime tonight! And part of the fun of the DOTD is substituting when an ingredient isn't in the house or on the "stuff I drink" list!

Janky--Sadie says "woof" back! Thanks for the kind words! Drug side effects are not fun. So sorry you are dealing with that.

Chi--Happy Birthday to Bob!My goodness, what a ride experience! And it must feel really good to get rid of all those now-too-big clothes!Good for you!!

Super--That Aperol drink sounds really nice. I think I need to find some Aperol and try it soon.

Cammy Cat--thank you for the nice words, and Sadie says Thanks for recognizing how important she is! Don't tell Sadie, but I agree she is worth every belly rub and then some, too!

    Yummy looking Rye Tai!

Hello All! It has finally rained here and gotten somewhat cooler. Might even rain more today! We have a ways to go to on the rain deficit, but every little bit helps. The actual storm did not blow very hard and we are supremely grateful for the rain.

I enjoyed some of the college football yesterday. University of South Carolina lost to Florida due to sloppy playing and even worse officiating. Baylor was able to beat Oklahoma State there after years of loosing. They remain undefeated! Sic ‘em Bears!!!

I have taken a few days to recover from all the travels, company and socializing. Now, on to getting laundry, house cleaning and cooking caught up. Hope to make some freezer meals this week. I have a friend having surgery this week and will deliver some things to her. It is amazing how quickly dust bunnies and spiderwebs pile up when you are put to ignore them for a few days. I work one room a day (sometimes two) until the main floor of the house is decent. Also need to spend some time in the master closet. My DH cannot hang clothes to save his life. It is time to do the seasonal swap to sweaters, etc. The fun never ends!

Enjoyed the posts, drinks, and cat pics this week. I alsoenjoyed my week off from chemo and will start another cycle this coming Friday. When I met with the PA, she was reluctant to even talk about taking a break from chemo. I really want to soon as I am now having some nausea daily. I will keep pushing. I hate that sometimes I feel like a meal ticket for the infusion center.

Take care, everyone and have a great week!

    Hi All,

A quick update on me then back to the bar!!!

"I'm still among the living but the less said about the last month the better. One word, nightmare!

I have now gone under hospice care, at home. So far it is WONDERFUL and expect it will continue.

No estimates on life expectancy except oncologist did guess 3 months, maybe a little longer."

So...that's a lot of time for cocktails that I can now actually have as long as I time it right 😀🍹🍹🍹

Muddling - so sad to hear your update, yet as always you focus on the positive and retain your humour! Sending positives and prayers your way, that you remain comfortable! We will be 'cheering' for you and goldie and jazzy and everyone else that are experiencing negatives lately.

I went to make tomato chutney today, but don't have enough tomatoes or jar lids, so I put all the chopped stuff in a pyrex bowl, covered it and will see what tomorrow brings - maybe more tomatoes and lids ;) They are the absolute last from our garden, a mixture of green, cherry and ripe red ones, so may end up with just a fresh salsa type salad instead.Wishing you all a good rest of the weekend and a cheerful, healing week ahead. Cheers!
