Along with my fellow drinking buds, I'd like to welcome you Erika to the club you never wanted to join. I understand how hard it is to make the decision between lumpectomy a mastectomies, I faced the same choice this past March. You will find some good support here on our drinking thread along with some silliness :) Happy Holidays and take care and enjoy your vino.

    Merry Christmas, Ladies,

Just swooping in before going to a party.  I can count on plenty of champagne tonight.

I hope everyone is healing, healthy and jolly tonight.  Thanks for all the photos.  Who knew sock puppets had such a life of their own.

Jaybird, you dog.  I can see you're not complaining about taking your "lumps."  Have fun.

    Jill welcome.

Junie, LMAO at your doggy treats story!

Donna, I too like your resoulution. I am going to make one that won't matter if I break it! I am hoping not to lose any weight this year! Hope you and Mark are having a great time!

Jaybird, hope you get more lumps!

    CAZ, good to see you!

Kathy, you copied your Hawaiin Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from me!!!! J/K

I don't know who all I forgot, none intentionally of course! But I am all for the party.

I am not good with toasts and cheers like some you's, so just saying Merry Christmas to all, hoping everyone is staying warm and safe.

All alone here in Barcelona wishing a sexy Santa would give me a present - I've been a good girl!

Just broke open the wine (it's after 5:30 here) and am relaxing and wasting time on my new laptop. It has windows 7 and I think I love it - posting pics sure does seem to be easy! Unfortunately my other laptop screen crapped out and rather than fork out the $$$ to get it fixed I bought a new one (with the extended warranty this time) and now have to work an extra trip (or two or three) to help defray its cost!

Cheers to all for a continued safe and happy holiday weekend!

    Hi Jaybird!

Who is that adorable little girl?  :) Oh, I see you have a pic of your dream Santa too...LOL

Sorry you are all alone in Barcelona, but we are here to have a drink with anytime.

    Cheers to all!

I had a very nice, long visit with family, got a bottle of Captain Morgan's from Santa (Chambord was to pricy for Santa!)  Have been  a total couch potato to day.  Can one be a couch potato if one doesn't own a couch?  Perhaps I should say I'm being a recliner potato?  Ah, whatever.  Going to make another batch of eggnog, this time with Capt. Morgan's instead of the cheap stuff I bought the other day and vegg out some more!

I did the same thing before my surgery, you have to take the time to enjoy yourself when you can. This is not the time to stop living your life it is the time to embrace it! I had my surgery in July of 09 and at 29 I thought I would never recover, but by 2 weeks after surgery I was able to show my scars to friends and family. It is amazing how well you can adjust when you have to. Feel free to ask any questions and God bless you.

Happy Day After to all!   We did get snowed in for Christmas so weren't able to make it to friend's house for dinner.   Luckily I had stuff on hand to have a lovely dinner--hubby thought we were looking at soup and sandwiches (which wouldn't have been that bad!)    Roads still snowy and icy so we'll be housebound for a few more days.  No way will we get out and drive on these hills and curves!

No New Year's Resolutions for me--I never keep them so why bother to think about it!  Looking forward to NY's Eve (getting it over, that is!   Told you all I was really bah humbug this year!)

Everyone stay warm and safe at home and traveling!

    huggssss, junie

Dee, that darling little girl is our Lil Miss Avery! But Jaybird.........the pic is TOO SMALL!

Erika, my apologies for not seeing you. Welcome! You have the same name and spelling as another gal that frequents here!

Hoping everyone is enjoying their Holidays....I am! I did forget to mention, that on our way home Xmas day, we stopped to have Xmas dinner....guess where????

A TRUCK STOP! Hows that for memories!

nicholethomas--it is remarkable how quickly we can recover from surgeries and procedures we don't think we can get through, isn't it?  But that time before we begin to recover is so very hard. . .

junie--nothing like a nice little surprise for hubby when you get snowed in!  He must have been thrilled, and you must have been so proud of yourself!  WTG, woman!

goldie--it has been a bit quiet, but I think we're all recovering from Christmas blizzards, celebrations, etc.  I'm giong to see if I can find a grass skirt when I go shopping this afternoon.  What is a "Lava Flow"?  It sounds deadly--just what I like for NYE!   There's a Dysart's truck stop not far from where I live, it's one of the places to go for a  "special" meal out!  The food is sooo good and there is soooo much and it's soooo inexpensive!  They do have a room just for truckers, but the 'public' restaruant room has been enlarged 3 times in the past 5 years!

LAVA FLOW RECIPE: •  1 oz Coconut Rum (Malibu, Parrot Bay) •  1 oz White Rum •  2 oz Pineapple Juice •  2 oz Strawberries •  2 oz Coconut Cream •  1 Banana
    1.   Place strawberries and two rums into a blender and blend until creamy. 2.  Pour into a hurricane glass. 3.  Place Fruit and juice into blender, blend until creamy. 4.  Pour this into the hurricane glass SLOWLY. 5.  The red rum mix will creeps up the sides!

I found another good one while looking for the Lava Flow. This one is for you HD, A Dirty Monkey....LOL

DIRTY MONKEY RECIPE: • 2 oz Kalua • 2 oz Creme De Banana • 2 oz Malibu (coconut rum) • 1-2 cups Vinilla Ice Cream • 2 oz Creme • 1 oz Chocolate
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Line inside of the glass with chocolate syrup. Pour into a clear glass.

    And enjoy!

Yummmmmmmm.......I think I will start out this Monday morning with a "Dirty Monkey"...just hope they don't put a sock in it! Ono sounding recipes, Lori! Since Dee is so busy with all the party plans, why don't you take care of the drinks...make sure our TT's have PLENTY of whatever we want...maybe add some Dom Perignon also...been awhile since I have had that and I think we are ALL deserving of it! I'll try to keep everyone motivated, and in the party mood...come on gals....on the count of 3....1, 2, 3.....TIME TO PARTAY!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!

Hope everyone had a real nice Christmas! Went out to eat last night and I asked the waiter if he had a nice Christmas, and he said "It was quiet, My girlfriend was in Kentucky". Of course I couldn't help myself, cause I said...."OH, is she THAT noisy?" Boy did his face turn red....LOL. But we also had a nice, quiet Christmas this year...more relaxing than usual as we (ME!) didn't do our normal large Christmas get-together...I missed seeing everyone, but with Thanksgiving so late this year, and traveling, I was just too worn out to even think of doing all that. Didn't put as much up this year either (usually I put up TONS), so will be easier to put away. Not in a "Bah Humbug" type of mood, but just T I R E D.

ChEARS to Monkeys covered in Dirt,

goldie--YUM!  I like the idea of the red creeping up the sides of the glass!  Such fun!  And the Dirty Monkey sounds good too--I'm a Kahlua lover from way, way back.

waheni--move over, here I come witha running bellyflop into the pool!  PARTAY time!

Thanks for the drink recipes Goldie!! They each sound wonderful - think we can order them up at the party?  I'm in, I think I'll try the Lava Flow first...

Hunky - was lol at the "enhanced" sock monkey (altho I really wish you would place a "spew warning" on your post, I almost messed up my computer screen :)

How are you Dee? Hope all is well!!

And Erika!! Thanks for dropping in and welcome!  Sadly, it seems we have more in common than just a name - part of my dx was also IDC Stage 1, and my PBM was on 11/11.  On the brighter side though, it appears we both love good food and good wine!  The wonderful ladies here are a wealth of info and have helped me so much over the past few months - there's nothing like conversing over a few drinks at the HTL. And if I can help in any way, please feel free to pm me.

I'm so looking forward to The Party - are we getting dressed up, or is it a luau theme?  Because if we're getting dressed, I think I'll choose the gown that Baroness Elsa wore at the party in the Sound of Music, only in periwinkle, and a little looser around the caboose. If it's a luau, I'm going with coconuts and a waterproof grass skirt - gotta stay on my pool float!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!! All the best, Erika

Dee, I LOVE the invitation!!!! Soooooooo kewl. Can we make the dress be either luau attire or glam attire? Maybe a glam muumuu....LOL. Not sure what I will wear, but CAN"T WAIT for the festivities!!!! And I KNOW you have some awesome entertainment lined up...you are one fantastic party planner!!!

Jaybird, Loved the pic of Avery! Hope your trip was good, and you are back home safely now. Too scary with that last plane incident! I am glad that passengers are so pro-active now....Hope your remodel stuff is getting taken care of and you don't have to involve an atty!

And a big HELLO to everyone else....our HTL is so full of fantastic drinking buds, it is hard to think of everyone, and I would hate to miss anyone! NM, what a BIG splash....a true bellyflop...but not to worry, Pants refilled my drink that spilled because of it...LOL. Let's PARTAY!!!

Cheers to our 1st Annual HTL Luau!

Well, if I'm home (not working) on NYE I'll definitely be here to par-tay and I will probably be nekkid (hopefully with a nekkid man next to me)! Cheers!

The remodel. There is a leak that was supposedly fixed twice but still leaks and the contractor promised someone would be by Mon or Tue. No one came today. Hopefully it will be a certified plumber this time and not his worker who 'fixed' the problem the first two times (and who also damaged my tub.....).

No crazy/suicidal passengers allowed on my flights! Not when I'm in charge anyway!  :)

I will do more pics, more recent ones. The may not be big though because of how I got them posted here. If I can figure out a better way to post I will otherwise get out the magnifying glasses!

Jaybird, PLEASE....if ur gonna get nekkid with a man, keep it at home! And if one of our Tattie Tenders comes up missing, we'll know where they went!

LOL Junie, well I am sure they will give you a biscuit if you asked! LMAO!! I wish I could join you with some ML, but I am still on the antibiotics for another 6 days. I think we need to get everything ready for our first anual HTL New Years eve party! Lets all put out heads together and come up with a theme for the party.  I'm off to run a few errands, wish me luck in the masses :)

    HUGS to all

    Dee~

So I can't take credit for this one!  I tihnk she has done a good job planning it, and that invitation is superb!!!! Now, how are you doing planning the drinks.....j/k!!!!!

Ohhhh poooooo Kathy, I thought it was you! You are usually suggesting some kind of party. And wasn't it you that came up with Thunderous Thursdays?

I do have a few drinks planned now! We have our Lava Flow and Dirty Monkey's, and I'll make sure Jocks gets some of that fancy wine you suggested, the Dom Perignon! Expensive stuff, I hope that wasn't what you spilled when NM jumped in the pool! Oh, love your hat!

Yeah, I did come up with Thunderous Thursdays ( I think I had "Thrilling" or something and someone else thought of that better name though)....but they sorta died out! I'm always ready for a good party though, but didn't want to take credit for thinking of this one. Nice that we all contribute in different ways. Yummmmmmm your drinks sound perfect! This will be one heck of a party!!! I'll try to keep everyone motivated, okay?  And now to think of what to wear....... (or not!)...

Yaaaa!  Most of snow/ice gone from  roads.  Path to liquor store is wide open, and can get to grocery!    Laffin' my butt off just now.    Hmmmmm, if it is a dress up party, that means clean jeans and a clean sweatshirt for me!    Oh, wait--cyber world and anything goes!!!   Looking forward to our par tay!!!

Jaybird--nekkid is such a wonderful word!!   Brings up some skinny dipping days/nights and topless on the beach fun memories!    Now, this bag of bones, grandma of 8, boob and a half is shopping for beach caftan coverups for our next vaca.   big s i g h!    But, keeping close eye on all the yummy drink recipes posted--especially the ones with kahlua!!!  yum!!!

Thinking we'll stick close to home this New Year's.   For many years, we've always gone to or hosted a literal adult slumber party on New Year;s Eve with our beloved "gang" from our working days.   It was so much easier when we all lived in the same city but now, so many retired and scattered and it involves traveling.   We make it to most of them but this year just seems like a time to hang close to home.   SO--I plan to be out in our pool, drink in hand when the ball drops!!!

    bug hugggssssss to ALL!!!!

jaybird, I like the word "nekkid" too.....and if you bring a nekkid guy friend, be sure he brings all his (good looking) nekkid friends.....gotta share around the HTL....! Boy this is really going to be some party....can't wait!!!

Awwwww junie, that sucks that we get old and can't "let it all hang out" anymore! Good memories though, and I know you must have been the life of the party. My boobs don't hang low anymore thanks to implants, but gravity has not been kind elsewhere! So I think I will stick to cover-ups too....well maybe here in cyberland we can get away with the skimpy bikinis and look just fine. AND of course we will look good in whatever we wear (or don't wear!) to our New Years Party....still trying to decide on that.

Dee, let us know if you need help with anything. So far it looks like you have it all under control. At least there is plenty of room so we can even spend the night and not have to worry about driving home!

    Happy Tuesday!

    Kathy
