    goldie,

LMAO!  Too Funny!!  Thanks for posting that!

Hope everyone is having a great day.  I'm waiting for my drs. office to call back, to explain WTH is so important about the bone density test, and whether I will be switching to an AI, IF my bone density test results are not good.  I didn't think it was going to make a difference, and now I wonder....

I think I'll be ready for a drink, cause I've been fighting with my drs. today.

Good luck to Kitty today although she is probably done!!!  Hope it all went well...now you can have that water Kitty!  I was so thirsty on my last surgery (afternoon surgery) I thought I was going to choke  My throat was more sore on that one when I woke up too...don't know if the long wait without water was the reason, or if my anesthesiologist just rammed that endotracheal tube down there extra hard.  Lori, good cartoon.  Harley, have a drink.  Kathy, I am glad you edited your message because for a minute I thought my chemo brain had really kicked in and you were still in vegas.  I pretended I didn't read it and went about my work.  LOL!  Work is hard this week.  We are getting snow also here...have to dig in my closet for my boots for tomorrow, but I am not moving tonight!  Junie, I am with Lori, I would never take an un-housebroken pet to someones house.  Husband is bad enough.....LOL!  Cheers...got to catch a plane for OHIO!  HunkyD

HEY HD............WAIT FOR ME! I'll fly with ya.

KitKat, I hope you are not in too much pain and resting well.

    Dee, we're on our way.

Harley, I just had a bone density test, my second one. I am on arimidex, and I guess it can eat away at the bones, so they do the test so they can watch your bones. My last one was a year ago. Won't know about my mammo until probably next week or week after. Had to send for my last one, done at the cancer center I went to in Tulsa. Blood work was fine, so I should be good to go.

Harley--Help!   I got a call today from the MedOnc's office telling me I'm scheduled for a bone something test 45 mintues before I see the doc.  I've been on Arimidex for almost 2 years now, so I'm guessing it's a bone density test.  This is the first time ANY kind of test has been ordered for me, and I'm freaking out wondering (1) why now all of a sudden and without warning, and (2) what to expect.  If it involves starting an IV 45 mintues isn't going to be long enough, it takes longer than that to get an IV on me.  What happens during a bone density test?  Will I need someone to drive me?

    I NEED A DRINK!!!!!!

Hi NativeMainer, It has been about 4-5 yrs since my bone density test, but if I am remembering correctly, I was just lying down and going in a machine, sorta like an MRI. No pain, and I don't remember an IV. But of course, I may be remembering it wrong! So gals, help us here....am I remembering correctly, or does Native have something to worry about??? Pants, bring Native a good stiff drink (or good stiff something anyway!LOL)....Native, have a drink, relax, and try not to worry about this! You will be okay!

Calm down there NM. It is no big deal. Lay on table, takes about 10 - 15 min. Just like an x-ray, peice of cake. Arimidex can deteriorate the bones, so that is what they are checking.

Is everyone ready to join Dee?

     An Ode to the Boob

They jiggle they bounce they wiggle and sway
Mounds of perfection on chests as they lay
Whether large ones or small ones or ones in between
Call them breasts call them boobies or fun bags supreme
The size doesn’t matter nor does what they’re named
Flash a pair at a man and he’ll soon be quite tamed
Young lads become speechless and old farts will smile
When a pair is popped out with wink and some wile
We care not if they’re natural or enhanced quite a bit
The thing that we wonder is can we play with the tit
So excuse us our glares our sly looks and our leers
But they’d be so much better if they’d just dispense beers

Dee, Like your "Ode to the Boob"....and glad to know you are starting the day with your great sense of humor intact! Of course we had to get up sooooo early, as to be on the red-eye flight. We'll be there soon, in plenty of time for your surgery! Okey dokey, will make sure they are BIG ones...and that everything goes perfect....you know we wouldn't stand for anything less than perfection. Junie made sure the TT's have lots of ML's iced down and ready for you (as long as she doesn't drink them all first while we are waiting...LOL)....and LOTS of pain meds....you will be just fine! SO glad this day is finally here, and soon you will be through with this and recovering along with Kitty. Looks like Pants and Jocks will be plenty busy taking care of you too. We might have to get HUNK to come in here and take care of the rest of us....or those hunky firemen might be able to lend a hand too.

Kitty, hope you are doing well and able to rest....come out by the pool and let the TT's pamper you bigtime....hope you are not in too much pain. We are anxious to hear from you!!!

Harley, good luck dealing with your doctors, and I hope YOU win! Jaybird, Guess Moscow is really cold right now, but hope your flights are good, and you are doing ok!

    Cheers to all,

    Good morning ladies,

I got home last night from having the exchange surgery, and other than a sore throat and some pain from being opened up again I don't feel too awful bad. I don't understand the sore throat because I have never had one from anesthesia before and the doc assured me he wasn't using an intubator (go figure) Oh well, I did take a peek at the new foobs and I am disappointed. They are flat and oddball shaped. Maybe from all the wrapping?? I also have 2 drains which will make things even more comfy. I have to try the Vicodin because the Perco's are making me itch like crazy! I will be hanging around today trying to rest and relax. If anyone wants to chat in the chat room let me know. Cya later!

I made it home from NV & OH just fine and so glad that Dee is doing well, home and resting. Getting the boys to get that percotini fountain set up, I am sure that is where she will be hanging out. Then I'm heading out to the pool ...hee hee......Junie is out there!

KitKat, we all hope you are doing well and wish you would check in.

Dee, Hope the Vicodin will work, and you won't be crazy itchy...thats gotta be terrible! Guess we need a vicotini fountain too??? Sometimes it takes awhile for the foobs to "fluff out" and look right...should be changing their looks for at least a month or two...I forget how long mine took. I hope the end result will be great, but please don't be worrying about that YET....just worry about relaxing and not overdoing, and getting pampered! If you decide on just 3D tatts instead of nips, we could go together to MakeUpChickNC, if she still does them gratis...in beautiful Asheville,NC. I need to schedule mine...want to be "finished" already!!! So glad you got home last night, and now that surgery is behind you, unless your dr needs to do any touchups. Welcome Back!!!

Kitty, Still waiting to hear from you. Hope your surgery went well, and you are at home and getting better and better every day!

Joining junie and Lori at the pool....HEY I thought Jocks was MY pool float...lol. Looks like the TT's can pamper us like crazy since its only the 3 of us gals here now. No splashin'....lets just float lazily along.....

    Cheers to all,

Is the hot tub working?  My knees are sooo achey--with the wind chill the temps today have been in the -15 to -20 range, and it took forever for the gas tank to fill when I stopped on the way home. But, got everything done that needed to be done for this semester so I get to go on break!  A few phone calls to make next week, but other than that no work until  January 8th!  Yeah!

Hey Donna, thanks for the drink, sure was a strong one........JUST LIKE I LIKE EM! Do you and Mark have any special Xmas plans?

NM, are you a teacher? Hot tub is working just great. Have one of the boys help you in. Don't want your knees going out on you and don't stay in there too long, we don't want you pruning. Enjoy that Xmas break! That's a nice long one!

Ooooops.....sorrry Junie. Didn't mean to tip you when I came up from swimming underwater. You must be busy getting the B&B cleaned up for the next round of company!

HD, The boys are back from shopping, and I couldn't help but peek. I found this and I am pretty sure it's for you! Sooooo.....Monkey Up!

I know half of you gals probably watched Survivor last night. I did not! Hoping to watch it tonight. So shhhhhhh about what happened and I will also stay away from the Survivor thread. I also know I won't be watching the finale until probably Xmas day! I hope I don't hear who won over the radio or on some tv show Frown Yeah right, what are the chances of that happening?

LOL!  My computer screen is now clean inside and out!

goldie--yes I'm a nursing instructor in the University of Maine at Augusta Nursing Program.  I don't generally let on that I'm a nurse b/c I just can't do the nurse thing when it comes to myself.  Everything I know gets all muddled up in my head when I try to apply it to me.  I've got arthritis in my knees (occupational hazard) and they always ache when the weather turns bitterly cold like it is now, or when a storm is coming.  I used to have a hot tub and absolutely loved it.  Since having truncal lymphedema that little luxury is denied to me now, except in here where nothing is bad for me!

dee--your sore throat is probably from the oxygen and anethesia gasses they use during surgery.  Oxygen is very drying and makes for sore throats, and some anesthesia gasses are irritating.  The air is very dry in operating rooms and recovery rooms, and that also adds to the sore throat thing.  Most people have a sore throat for a while after surgery weather they get a tube or not.  It should clear up in a couple of days.  In the meantime, keep sipping fluids, or chweing gum, or sucking on hard candies to keep your throat moist.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

Don't worry about the bone density test...  you wear sweat pants and no metal...  casual clothes.  no underwire bra...  that is correct... there will be NO IV...  I like that part, too!!

It isn't anything to worry about...

thinking about you.... hope it goes well...

I just FINALLY got my bone density test scheduled...  I just want to get it over with... so I am having it on Tuesday morning...

...now maybe I can get back to drinking...

Hraley--I'm ok with the bone density test now that I know what's going on.  I just do not handle surprises well at all, and even less so since being diagnosed.  But, at least I know enough to ask to speak wiht the office nurse next time I get a call about something I was expecting!  They have my best interests at hart, and they did things this way to save me a from making an extra 95 mile trip.  The fact that there are no needles involved helps a lot too!  Jan 6th is the day.

It's still cold here, I think I'd like something hot to drink this afternoon. Any suggestions?

dee--glad you're feeling better.  Getting your hair washed will make a huge difference--I know it always does for me.  2 summers ago I had a PICC line in most of the summer, and then 2 open holes in my boob, then a mastectomy with a drain for almost a month--between June and the middle of September I think I got to take about 6 showers-- and 2 of them were just plain 'illegal' since my BS doesn't allow showers with a drain in, but I just couldn't stand it.  I have waist long hair, so the sink thing is a whole lot of lot of work and bother.

    NativeMainer,

I know what you mean...   I don't like surprises, and I was really thinking WTH??  when my onc's office wanted to schedule my bone density test ASAP...  I thought, what is the RUSH?   But, now I just want to get it over with...

I know that the test is no big deal, but I am thinking that it is just such a pain, especially having to schedule medical tests, during the Holiday season...

Hmm...  a HOT drink??  I can't think of anything.... except maybe a drink I have when I have a cold.  I will have a HOT cup of tea, with B & B in it...

    Cheers to all!

Fell off the wagon last night and had half a beer. Oh well. It's not like I got drunk, right? Tonight I have a date and he's already told me that he's getting some nice cheese and he'll have some red wine for me, too. Today is my last day of anti-biotics (I read 14 pills as 14 days orginally - doh!) so where's the harm?  It's not like I'm going to drink a lot of wine anyway because we have plans for other things.....

Rainy-snowy stuff today. It's above freezing so how loudly can I complain? Still in search of my Vanille Royale but none to be found. I guess it's no longer imported? So I picked up some Chambord instead. :)  It's definitely hot drink weather - adding peppermint schnapps to hot cocoa is always yummy!

    Cheers!

Ooooh, peppermint schnapps in hot cocoa!  I've got a lovely patch of mint in my front yard, next summer I'll have to make some mint cordial.

And I LOVE Chambord, but it's costly enough here for me to only get it for special occasions (or when I get to the State Liquor store in New Hampshire).  If Santa gets me some for Christmas I'm going to treat myself to the rest of the ingredients for a raspberry martini--it was sooooo good.

Harley, maybe you should ask what the rush is?  If it's just because they need the test on the chart to meet standards then it's their problem, not yours, and you can do it after the holidays.  And if the Med Onc wants the test, why isn't the office setting up an appointment?  Why do you have to do it?  Unless you prefer to make your own appointments and I can understand that!

    NativeMainer,

You are right.  My onc's office DID schedule the bone density test.... but, my onc. ordered the test, and he wanted me to have it at HIS office, in Wilmington.  But, the reason that I have had to get so involved in scheduling this test is that my insurance will not pay for it, since my onc is out of network, and so is the facility where he wants me to have it.

I even called my primary care dr's office, to have the nurse there get an authorization for this test to be done by my out of network onc, at his out of network facility, but nobody seems to get it.

I have been getting SO frustrated, just trying to get this test scheduled so that my insurance will pay for it.  When the people at my onc's office call my insurance company, MY insurance people tell them...NO problem...  a bone density test is a covered benefit... well, yes IT IS, but...  not at a non network facility.  ALL WEEK, I've been yelling at people, and it is no good for my blood pressure, getting so upset.

Anyway, I finally got it scheduled at the local hospital, which is closer for me anyhow.  Since I had to go thru so much crap just to get this test scheduled, right now I just want to get this test over and done...   My onc. only wants this test because I am switching from Tamoxifen to Femara.  The AIs are really bad for the bones, thus the bone density test needs to be done before I start the AI.  I am going to start Femara on Jan. 1st.

So... after all the crap I went thru, trying to get this test scheduled, I am ready for a drink, or two or three!!!    :D

Harley--what a hassle!  Sometimes insurance companies are more trouble than their worth.  Have you called the insurance company and asked for a case manager?  Having one person to go to with all this stuff, and a name you can give the Onc's office to contact might make things go more smoothly.  I don't blame you for wanting to get it over with after all that, I'd do the same.  Hang in there!
