    Thanks Carole ad Carol.

Today, I wimped out and didn't walk outside at lunch, but walked the hall upstairs and down a few times. DH and I walked when I got home and we will walk after dinner. I'll be putting my snow pants on and winter boots. Tomorrow, it will be in the low 40s and then getting colder and colder throughout the week. Right now windchill is 9 F. We are going to the mountains and it will be subzero at night and the mountains are supposed to be cold. It will be cold hiking - we will probably do a couple 1 hour hikes. Usually we do 2 - 3 hour hikes.

I doubt after a week that I'm still jet lagged, but at work by 2:30 I was wiped out. I made breaded "fried" in the oven tilapia for dinner and also made chicken schnitzl, which is the same way I make the fish to put away for Friday night dinner. That did me in. Hopefully, tomorrow I can make the mushroom barley soup I want to put in the freezer.

HR still hasn't approved my FMLA. I emailed the gal who is in charge of my case and she is out of the office till next Monday but in her away message she gave another email for urgent matters. I submitted my request a month ago. I wrote the surgeon's office asking if I should get a new return to work letter now since I extended my time off or wait till the post office visit. I also asked about flying one month post surgery.

My BIL had a TIA this past week-end and has a blockage in the artery at the back of his head that goes to the brain. He's already on blood thinners so not much to do. They neurologist said he will continue to have TIAs and eventually it will lead to a stroke. Neurologist says this is common with heart disease. BIL had quintuple bypass at age 47 which was 24 years ago. My late FIL also had these same issues but much younger as he only lived to 62. Needless to say my DH is a little concerned both for his brother but also down the road for him. DH had his quintuple bypass at 64 so much late in life so hoping he will not have to deal with these issues. Our poor kids really got lousy genes. At least all three of them are proactive with their health.

    Stay warm.

Karen, My DH had a quintuple bypass at 49 and he's now 84. He had a pacemaker put in about 10 years ago because his heart was stopping and starting up again. No other problems with heart stuff.

Thinking of and praying for everyone with heavier than normal loads right now.

Here's a serene picture from the nice day we had here yesterday when walking. Tomorrow high winds, rain and possible tornado (!).

DOTD: Metropolis "Hullabaloo" blend coffee (morning pour-over), cherry Bubly with late dinner. And water, water & more water. Gotta stay hydrated to sing. Was finally able to integrate my registers tonight at second dress rehearsal (first was Saturday, full dress will be Wed.

Right now we're getting light snow after some drizzle. Should ramp up starting in about an hour here by the lakefront. By midmorning, rain will take over and wash it away…till round 2 starting about 4:30, when I have to get to the theater.

My friend is in a holding pattern: still intubated, with a pacemaker. She is unconscious even after sedation was reduced. The stroke has, as expected, crossed over the midline and involves the whole brain, and there is utterly no chance of regain of function, let alone recovery. (I have a Bar Show castmate who's a pastor's wife and still insists "miracles can happen"). Saw her today, met with the Palliative Care nurse. We are all on the same page about DNR, but not yet hospice. That conversation will come after talking to the Gift of Hope (transplant) team, to carry out her wishes as an organ donor. (She's off dialysis, so her kidneys are working). The goal right now is to prevent pain (which can be sensed even when not conscious). When the time comes, we will all try to be by her bedside as she's extubated and put on a simple nasal cannula, with the pacemaker removed. At that point, hospice will take over. We're looking at possibly late Sunday aft.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! I woke up early yesterday with the runs, called in sick and went back to bed after things slowed down enough, slept most of the afternoon. I feel fine this morning. I suspect I ate something that didn't agree with me rather than catching a bug.

Waking up today to temps in the 20's, with a storm coming in tonight and tomorrow, a repeat of the before Christmas storm but colder, so I'm more worried about losing electricity. Still, it will be what it will be. I'm hoping the last storm took down most of the dead and loose stuff and there won't be as much trouble with power outages this time around. But it's supposed to warm up tomorrow and turn everything to rain, which will be better than snow. No matter what, tomorrow is going to be messy.

Goldie--oh dear, sorry to hear about your brother. He probably did pick it up on the plane or in the airport, but you never know. Hugs for you.

Chi--it must be so hard being POA from so far away, and even harder dealing with the sudden death of a friend. Hugs.

    Morning, Minus!

Karen--My brother and his wife are going to be a huge help with the upcoming changes. I can't wait to be living closer to them. Praying for a successful surgery and quick recovery for you.

    Morning, Carole!

    Sunshine--thank goodness for space heaters!

Karen, thanks for your offer, for which several here have offered. I think you have enough on your plate! I would offer you the same, but I can barely take care of meeself! I can't walk but about 20' and I'm winded and have to sit down to catch my breath. Sorry to hear about your BIL, that is so young to have bypass surgery. I tell my step DD's they got bad genes as well from their dad, RA, ALS and high BP. Thinking of you and your upcoming surgery. Having anything done anymore is scary in our situations.

Wow Wren, your DH too, so young!

Reader, thanks for the serene pic! Snow, wind, no sun and COLD here, so it was nice to see!

Sandy, sorry to hear about your friend. May her passing be peaceful.

NM, sorry to hear you are sick and hoping the upcoming storm doesn't take your electric out.

I was about to die yesterday loading up my car, which is parked right outside my house. Snow on the porch and ramp, that I am no longer able to shovel, bundled up in snow pants (that are too big), winter coat and and big bulky snow boots. Taking my suitcase out, which is just carry on size and I can barely get it lifted up into the back of my FJ, when I got there, I thought I was gonna die (not litterally), but OMG, took me a few to catch me breath. After hospital care doctor visit this morning at 9, never had this before and never been to this doctor, but it's right down the hall from cancer center, which I will go to right afterwards for chemo. Then back to the hotel and nephrologist tomorrow afternoon at 2:00. Not sure if I'll stay over or head home, which would mean getting home well after dark and my house will be cold!

Thanks again everyone for your comments, concerns and offers of help! Y'all are the best, that's for sure.

nm, stay safe. I hope you don't lose power!

Goldie, I think I'd be more comfortable staying over another night in the hotel. I'd not want to be driving home in the dark to a cold house—even though my house is always cold. Sometimes, though, there's no place like home. I'm glad you don't have to walk too far between appointments.

Radiation session 4 of 10 today. MO, Faslodex and radiation tomorrow. I'm tired…

    Love to all,

Lori - I'm so sorry that you are struggling so much and have such a hard time. You are close to my heart my dear friend. Good luck with all your appointments today. Drive safe.

Sunshine - good luck with radiation

HR still hasn't approved my FMLA nor has anyone responded to my emails. I finally found a form that needs to be completed by my surgeon. I scanned it to his office after work. If someone from HR/LOA would have followed up with me I could have had done this before winter break. I submitted my request for FMLA 12/08. I texted a friend all stressed and she said don't stress too much about it as they can back date stuff and then said, it's not like they can tell me not to have surgery! I'm so annoyed with HR/LOA.

I made mushroom barley soup last night. I started too late at 8. By the time I was done it was after 9:30 an then it had to simmer or an hour. Thankfully I fell asleep on the sofa while simmering. I woke up around 11:15 put it in the fridge and went to bed. I should have started right after dinner before we went for a walk and I showered. I was so exhausted that I didn't get up till 5:30 this morning which is 30-45 minutes later than I need to get up. thankfully, I don't need to leave quite as early this morning.

I want to make potato kugel to go with dinner Friday night, but not sure if I'll have the energy to do it tonight - it not it will be roast potatoes. Tomorrow after work I need to get everything ready to take up to the mountains as we are leaving late morning Friday, but I have an appointment in the morning.

Also feel like I'm fighting off a cold, or it's my sinuses acting up.

My weight keeps going up and up - I need to stop mindless snacking to get it back under control. I've surpassed what I lost and now I need to get serious about snacking. I bought a cannister of pub mix on Sunday that I think I'll throw out as that is what I've been snacking on the past few nights and I will finish it if it is in the house!

My left shoulder blade has been bothering me. Acetaminophen doesn't do anything for the pain but I'm not supposed to take ibuprofen but I broke down and took 2 last night and it helped. So far this morning, it's okay but I've only been up 20 minutes. I'm sure as the day goes on it will bother me from how I sit at work as the chair are not great.

Looking forward to the R an R an a little hiking in the mountains. It will be sub zero Friday and Saturday nights with high in the teens. I was hoping it would be sunny, but the weather station is showing cloudy so it will feel really COLD. I will need to bundle up in multiple layers!

Stay warm and have a good Wednesday.

Sunshine, if I stay over night, I actually risk having to stay 2 nights. It is supposed to snow Thursday. It gets rough coming across the rim, which was closed the day before I came down. They get more snow there. So, I think I'm going to head home today!

Karen, I would be stressing too about the FMLA. I would surely burn the house down if I fell asleep while something was cooking. Only because, when I woke up, I probably would have still forgotten that something was on the stove and went to bed with it still on!

Ok, the doctor appt. yesterday was with GI and it was because my liver enzymes were high when I was in the hospital. They have since came down, and they were high because of all the meds I was on. The doctor was very nice, female. Sat there going over the last 15 years of my health. Asking me questions, typing stuff and recording (or talk to text to the computer). My weight is now at 108, and I am considered anorexic! Chemo went down without a hitch, video visit with MO on Friday.

Karen, I'm sorry about the holdup with FLMA. As if you didn't have enough on your place. I thought of you yesterday when I saw a FB post. It was a photo of latkes topped with smoked salmon and I can't remember what else. It looked good, though. I hear you on the pub mix. There are certain things I don't even want in the house, or I'll just mindlessly snack away.

goldie, I hope you have a safe and uneventful drive home. My liver enzymes were up briefly after I had been taking a bunch of Tylenol. They're back to normal now, but my glucose was high and my RBC, HGB and HCT were also high. CEA is back up again, too. Will ask my MO about them today.

    Love to all,

    Carol

Karen, are you familiar with Voltaren cream? It's basically topical Tylenol. The biggest benefit, besides pain control, is that (since it's isolated and not systemic) it doesn't impact your kidneys nearly as much. I used some for my knee, and it worked great. Too well, in fact. I was prone to overdoing it and having even worse knee pain later on!

  • karen1956
    karen1956 Member Posts: 4,623

Mirianda - yes, I've used the Voltaren cream, but I fell asleep last night before my hubby could put it on for me. Tonight I will have him do it as soon as I shower. Thankfully it's not as bad today. I really think its from sitting poorly in chairs and having chairs that are not supportive.

We walked when I got home from work at 3:15, then I made the potato kugel. It was way less work than the soup and also I wasn't as nearly tired. I made two 8 X 8 pans and will freeze both. I will take one with us on Friday to go with chicken schnitzl. Monday, when we get home, I will make noodle kugel to freeze. I also have two different soups for the freezer - at least 3 different containers serving 2 - split pea and barley and mushroom barley with chicken. The mushroom barley can be a meal by itself. We both love hearty soup in the cold weather. Everything else my dh can cook. He is a good cook, but I tend to do most of it as I like cooking. But I'm going to be a good patient.

My surgeon's office is great. I sent them the form this afternoon and they completed it. I submitted it to HR. I'm being a pain with HR writing comments. I told them starting the 16th I will not be checking work emails and that if they needed me they needed to send it to my home email. Restrictions are no lifting more than 10 pounds, no strenuous activity, no long sitting or standing and no kneeling or bending over.

The weather is turning bitter cold and snow in Denver. 20's tomorrow in Denver and then into single digits over the weekend. Lows will be below zero. Guessing at least 10-15 degrees colder in Frisco, CO. We are still going to go up late morning Friday. We'll keep hikes short but I need a change of pace - especially since I'll be in the house for an extended period.

Lori, hope you got home safely. Sunshine, hope your numbers are better.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! The wind let up about the middle of the day yesterday, lots of cleaning up going on and getting electricity back to people before the next storm comes in over the weekend. I didn't lose power, for which I am grateful. The slush and flooding from the melting snow is still making a mess in a lot of places. More flooding is expected this weekend as it coincides with an astronomical high tide. At least that won’t affect me here at home. The worst I had to put up with was the internet being out. I have satellite internet and lose it whenever the rain or snow is heavy.

Goldie--it must be really frustrating to get tired so quickly. I've noticed I get tired much faster than I used to, nothing compared to what you are experiencing, and I don't like it. I hope all your appointments go well.

Sunshine--I didn't lose power this time, hopefully won't this weekend as that storm is predicted to be more coastal. Power outages were spotty rather than widespread this time. Take good care of yourself and rest as you need to.

Karen--it really seems like you should have heard from HR by now! I hear you about the snacking thing. It's so hard to not snack during times of stress. I hope the shoulder blade pain gets under control soon as you get away from the un-ergonomic chair and get some hiking in. Stay warm!

    Goldie--glad the appointments went well.

Sunshine--I'm hoping the lab results have an innocent reason.

Karen--the soups and other dishes sound wonderful, good for you! Enjoy the hikes.

    Flood Waters

    1 shot(s) Amaretto

    1 shot(s) Bailey's Irish Cream

    1/2 shot(s) Chocolate Vodka

    3 shot(s) Half-and-half

    Special instructions:

Shake with ice and strain into martini glass, rimmed with chocolate

Karen, When we were first married, DH and I went to a kosher restaurant in Houston on Sundays for their barley mushroom soup. When our daughter was born, that was her first people food. I get hungry thinking about it.

NM, I saw about the tornado that went through NC and immediatley thought of you. I know how much you like them....NOT! Was it anywhere near your brother?

Karen, hoping now they the ball rolling for your FMLA. And nothing wrong with being a pain, if that's what it takes to get things done.

I was not a happy camper yesterday! My appt. with nephrologist was at 2pm. I got there at 12:30, knowing it was lunch, but that was ok. Explained my situation, and wanted to know if I could get in a little earlier. She says let me check with so and so. 1:00, and lots of patients coming in. 1:30, same thing. Nothing about getting me in early. 2:00 comes and other are being called in before me (perhaps they had earlier appts.) I go up to the window and ask when I can expect to be seen. Oh, you're next, but I need you to fill out this paperwork. REALLY? I just sat here for 2 hours, you couldn't have me do that then? Of course I didn't say anything. 5 minutes with the nurse, 5 minutes with the doctor, we'll see you in 4 months. Making my appt. the girl says, this will take us into mid May. I say fine, if I'm still here. She looks at me puzzled. I told her I was only given weeks to months to live. Her comment was "Oh, I'm sure you'll pull through." I know she was only trying to be nice. But sheesh, people should think before they open their mouths! So, I did make it home at 7pm, dark, cold and windy. Grabbed only what I needed from my car. Went out and got a few other things this morning, another cold, windy and snow day. Video appt. with MO tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Hello and CHEERS to all the Lounge Lizards!

Finally broke down and am taking an antibiotic for sinus. I've been toughing it out and feeling worse. So no drinking for me for a few days, other than tea, coffee and water.

In our area of NC we did have a few tornado watches and high winds but fared ok. I want it to get warmer. Locals say this is the coldest it's been in a while during winter.

Goldie I'm glad you got settled and home after quite a day. Sometimes there's no place like it.

NM with recent weather I'm sure you're counting down to retirement and the move!

Karen I hope your time off is refreshing. A big "dry" hello and cheers to anyone I didn't mention!

Wren - would that have been Alfred's Deli in Houston? The first location opened in 1948. Looks like the last one (on Stella Link) closed in 1995. I drove across town often for this WONDERFUL kosher food.

Goldie - what a nightmare. Sorry the office was so unresponsive.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy TGIF Day! Almost through another week. Got another storm coming in tomorrow, hopefully won't be as bad inland as anticipated, but it's likely to be pretty bad on the coast. At least we'll have Sunday to clean up. The weather doesn't seem to bother the puppers very much, other than making the potty trips a lot faster when it's raining and blowing.

    Karen--what a wonderful memory!

Goldie--the tornado was not near my brother. My sister-in-law texted me to say so when she couldn't get Mom on the phone to tell her, figuring Mom would hear about it and freak out. Mom had her phone on silent again. Sigh. My goodness, what an experience at the appointment. All that waiting for 10 minutes of stuff that probably could have been done over the phone. The front desk people need some serious training, it sounds like. Glad you got home. I hope the MO appointment goes better.

Reader--sinus infections are not fun, glad you are getting treatment. Also glad you didn't get any tornado damage. I've been following the temps in NC, and some days it's been colder there than here in Maine! I understand this kind of cold weather only lasts a month or two there, not the up to 6 months like here. 38 days to retirement, and I am really looking forward to being done with work!

    Morning, Minus!

Since I don't work Fridays, my work week is done - and now I'm off till after President's Day week-end. I finished my coverage at the elementary school by my house. the SP there brought me flowers. I ended the day with a big IEP meeting that is not done yet. I was hoping to see the case through but I know the team will tell me the final result. Also, I have access to the sped program for the whole district! Very positive feedback from the parents. I told the parents I would try to visit while I'm on leave and they said their son would like that as he really enjoyed spending time with me - and I was only there 2 1/2 months. Also positive feedback from the staff. When I come back from FMLA I'll be at a middle/high school. The hours are later 8-4 which i don't like as much as 7-3. I've been spoiled as the past several months my commute have been 5 minutes where this will be 25 minutes. Just hope after work it isn't longer as I don't like getting home from work late. But not going to worry about it now.

I still have this cold. Hoping it doesn't interfere with surgery on Tuesday. I'll be really bummed if they reschedule it. At first I thought I was sinus, but so far I don't have a headache or sore teeth like I did last month. I'm worse in the morning and at night. When I got home from work yesterday, I felt pretty good for the first time in several days so thinking maybe the cold is ending. But by 7:00pm I was fading and felt lousy. I don't have a fever. I've been taking generic musinex and yesterday I took ibuprofen (which I'm not supposed to take) and it really helped more than acetaminophen.

It's going to be single digits in Denver S,S and M and below zero at night. Wind chills to 30 below zero at night. We will need to keep one of the bathroom sinks dripping so the pipes don't freeze. The news is saying to also leave cabinet doors open. The mountains won't be quite as cold but we will get more snow. Denver is going to only get a few inches. At least 8" over the next 2 days and probably more after that.

Lori - the Nephrologist's office sure needs training in tack and customer service. They could have told you when you arrived that they couldn't take you early. Sorry that "girl" was so rude to you.

Kim - counting the days with you. So you think you'll do some sort of work once you move to NC.

Everyone stay safe and stay warm.

We drive up to the mountains around lunch time till early Monday morning.

Hi ladies-I don't think I have been here since before the new year, but wanted to check in and say hello to everyone. Made it through my first full week back to work since the holidays, and what a doozie. I found out this week the critical deadline we have been preparing for (again) has been delayed, so with that I decided to take Monday off. I can't seem to get much traction on my project anymore, but do have lots to get caught up around home so a three day weekend it is. Into the closets, paperwork, and garage I go. But first, off to a haircut…..

I had a good time in Palm Springs for New Years with the fam. We enjoyed some visits at the house, went out to eat, hit the movies, did a trip to the hot springs in nearby Desert Hot Springs in CA (we all had 2 hour treatments too that were my treat) and did a great jeep tour around the San Andreas fault in the Indio, CA area. I have to say I really like the Cochella Valley in CA and Indio area, but not sure I could handle the summer heat. Something to noodle on for now……

NM- I watch your posts on FB with the count down in days to retirement. I am doing the same now, with months instead of years! I am down to 22 months to meet my goals with this gig. I am so excited for you and think a milder climate in the winters will be good for you and your mom. Plus moving near your brother gives you some support with her, it's hard to do eldercare as one person. Can't wait to virtually celebrate with you when the official day comes!

Karen- will be in your pocket for the upcoming surgery. I know it's super cold up there today, a friend in Littleton said it was 0 this morning. It's been colder down here in No Central New Mexico too. We have been getting some snow since last week, more coming tomorrow. Let us know how things go when you are feeling better.

Goldie- sending warm thoughts your way as you continue to do the treatment you can. Your weight seems dangerously low, is there anything they can do to help your nutrition to boost your weight?

Chi- I hope things go peacefully for your friend. It's hard to know the right time with some of the decisions that come at the very end. I had to do them for my mother. Sending much love your way and glad she had someone wonderful like to you to help her at the end.

Okay that is all for now. I started this days ago and never finished but will ketchup (as NM would say) on more posts and be back soon.

    Love to all here!

jazzygirl, I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to the Palm Springs area. We have a vacation rental in La Quinta and rent it out through the La Quinta Resort. It's stunning what people will pay to stay there.

If you're ever back there, I highly recommend the Palm Springs Air Museum. I went once, thinking I'd be bored, but ended up going back because it was so fascinating.

We go out in the summer when it's not rented. It can be bloody hot, but we have AV, of course, and we don't mind the heat. DH likes to take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and hike at the top of the mountain (San Jacinto). You don't have to hike as there is a visitor's center and fun stuff to look at.

Karen, you have me craving all kinds of good Kosher foods. By the way, when I lived in Maine, I worked with a guy who was Jewish. I am Seventh-day Adventist, and we have similar eating protocols and stuff. Nothing romantic between us, but it was nice to hang out with someone and not have to explain why I wasn't eating lobster or why I stayed in on Friday nights. I'm in your pocket, too, for your upcoming surgery.

Waving hi to goldie, chisandy (brrrrr!) and all the rest of you lovely ladies. Safe safe and stay warm!

Sunshine, interesting, I was not aware of the similarities. Thanks for sharing

We are up in the mountains and it is 25 degrees warmer her than in Denver. We are at 20F and Denver is -5F. Not counting windchill. It was quite windy here today. DH and I went out later this morning for 1/5 hour and we were bundled up so warm enough but hiking was hard - even on the bike bath. We stayed of most of the trails and there were no tracks and we were sinking at least 6-8". We did do one bath. It just started snowing at 10pm so we'll see how much so there is when we wake up. If we can't do the trails, there are lots of places to walk in town. We will head back to Denver early Monday morning ( by 9 at the latest but probaby by 8) to miss the holiday traffic. Also it will give me time to do some errands and make noodle kugel and cranberry muffins - I just made blueberry but I like the tart of the cranberry.

Starting to worry about the surgery or more so after all the things I won't be able to do for 4 weeks. My cold seems to be getting better so that is good.

We are going to see our kids and granddaughter Toronto next month over the long week-end. It will be just after the restrictions are lifted and the day after my 3 month visit with my Hematologist. Our grandaughter will be turning 9 moths when we are there, two months since we last saw her. This coming week she will be 8 months. She has so much personality.

    Stay warm.

Reader, I'm so sick of being in the hospital. I think like 6 times, maybe more since mid October, but most of it being Nov/Dec. So far I've been home since Xmas eve! I want warmer weather too!

NM, I bet you are anxious to get to NC. Have you been looking, or not yet. Any estimated time on when you would like to be there? I don't know how long you have lived in your current home, will you miss it? I will miss mine, if I ever make it to MI. But DH and I designed it and did most of the work.

Karen, I think you will be well enough when surgery time comes along. When I made the appt. with nephologist, I asked if I could have a video, because last time they told me I should have done that! This time they said no, as he will probably look at the tubes (where they go into my back), well he did not! I am so happy you get to go and spend more time with your DD and grand baby. She will have changed so much in just 2 months. You are brave to get out in that snow and walk, you wouldn't catch me doing that at all!

Jazzy, your trip looked and sounded AMAZING! As for my weight, eat more, drink more protein shakes, blah blah.

    Sunshine, waving backatcha!

MO said I could try a new chemo, Abraxane. It belongs to the Taxol group, given weekly for 2 or 3 weeks, then one week off. Can cause neuropathy and hair loss. I just wonder if it's worth going through if it's only going to give me a short time. I do not and have never had neuropathy. But being the vain person I am, I hate the hair loss thing. Especially when mine is getting to a point where I can do something with it! Warming up here, with temps in the 50's for the next 10 days.....wooo hoooo!

It snowed all night - at least 8 - 10". We didn't even try the wooded trails or the bike bath as they were too hard yesterday. So this morning explored the town - sidewalks were hard as they hadn't been plowed for a few hours, so we decided to walk the streets. We did the same this afternoon. We've been coming up for 22-23 year and we alway hike the same places. Hope to get another walk after dinner.

It looked like a winterland today. I'll try to post pictures from my phone as it never works from my computer.

Lori - we lots of warm clothes - we both have snow pants, Craig has farmer johns, and both heavy, heavy down coats. I layer under my coat with a think vest and coat plus a warm beanie had warm mittens. We both have a couple pairs of snow boots. I prefer my hiking style snow boots. Yes, were are a little crazy.

It's supposed to snow all night starting around dinner time. I'm sure it will be slow drive back down to Denver. Yes, they plow the highways but it still slow driving. We will probably be out by 8:00 - 8:30. We will clean the condo tonight and just have a few things in the kitchen to finish.

We are warmer by about 25 F degrees than Denver, but much more snow.

Tomorrow when we get home, I want to run a couple errands and cook a couple things. I have soup in the freezer which may be what I want along with scrambled eggs and smoothies with protein powder.

Craig will take food to eat at the hospital as he will stay will I'm in a room. Surgery is at 12:30 and will be 2 hours (or maybe longer). I don't know how long they keep people in the recovery room. To be honest, I'd rather not be in the hospital over night but that's protocol

Kim - I know you told me where is NC but I forgot - where is it near? Will it be difficult to sell your place?

Lori - tough call about doing a different chemo. I hope it will be easy to decide what is best for you. Sending you hugs.

Sandy - if I remember correctly you have a show this week-end

Karen, praying all goes well with your surgery. I'm sure we will all be thinking of you. I know I will. Please check in when you can, even if just one sentence. Love and huggles to you my friend.

Sounds like you have the gear to stay plenty warm!

We had a wonderful time in the mountains - just what we needed. Now the drive home was a different story. We are about 75 minutes from Frisco. It took us 4.25 hours. White out conditions at times, snow going, standstill at times, part of I-70 closed so detour. MY DH did a great job driving the white knuckle drive. If we could have stayed another day, we would stayed and enjoyed the mountains. The mountains got about 12-15" of snow - Denver got 2 or 3. Tonight it is going down to minus 15F (raw temperature). Most if not all schools are closed tomorrow. I'm hoping to get a long walk in the morning before heading to the hospital as I doubt I'll be doing much walking the rest of the day.

What do you bring to the hospital for an overnight stay? Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush. I will give my DH my phone and apple watch to keep till after surgery. I have to take off all my jewelry. This doesn't bother me - but I've been wearing my late mother's wedding ring since she passed away. She had small fingers so I wear it on my pinky finger. I never take it off - when I cook, I take off my other rings but not this one. I will give it to DH to keep, but leave everything else at home.

Surgery isn't till 12:30 - Can't eat/drink 8 hours before surgery - trying to decide if I want to stay up late (later than usual for me) and make and egg and english muffin. Oh, I guess I'll see if a few hours.

Lori - how are you doing?

Kim - what is the count today? I don't think I saw a post on fb. How is your weather?

I put my away message on at work and I will not be checking emails!!!

I'll check in early tomorrow morning, then not before Wednesday night, depending on how I'm feeling.
