Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday/Christmas.

I won't bore you with details, but was back in the hospital for a week. I think my body is just failing me and time may getting there. No pain, so all is good with that. I got home 12/24.

Lori - sending you hugs my friend. I'm so sorry to hear that you were in the hospital again. It makes me sad that you are going through so much. Is your brother still with you? When is the move to Michigan? Please let me know if there is anything I can do from afar. Hugs.

Mumm Napa DVX 2009 tonight—still very drinkable at 14 yrs post-harvest (and 9 yrs post-disgorging & bottling). And my bedtime treat of a chocolate egg cream: NuStevia's keto chocolate syrup tastes just like Hershey's, though it's a bit thick and too expensive to use more than once in a blue moon. I tried Whole Foods' syrup—since it uses cane sugar & not HFCS like Hershey's, it tastes closer to the Fox's U-Bet of my Brooklyn childhood.

Good afternoon ladies- finishing my last day of work for the week and the year today. Going to get my boarding passes tonight and fly out to sunny CA tomorrow for some family time. I may be posting some more fun pictures from there so be ready!

Wishing everyone a good start to 2024 and sending much love to those who are struggling through these holidays with whatever is going on for you or your families.

Goldie, you have been on my mind and in my thoughts.

Besides battling with the jerk neighbors with the dogs, DH continues to wage war with the osteonecrosis infection…will learn more soon, we hope.

Jazzy - Have a great time in Cali. I have a cousin that moved there 2 years ago and I hope to go and visit her. Illimae - Love your holiday drink - it looks so yummy and am in awe of your talent for making beautiful looking drinks. Hello Carole, minus, chiSandy, NM, and Karen, minus, and wren. … and anyone I missed.

DsOTD: Last night (Fri) at Wildfire, "J" by Jordan (Napa) 2021 Pinot Noir. Tonight, with leftovers, we drank leftovers: 2009 (late-disgorged) Mumm Napa Brut DVX, and the last of the 2023 Duboeuf Beauj. Nouveau. (Plus 2 oz. eggnog and asst'd. coffees all day).

Goldie, holding you close in my thoughts and prayers also.

    NM miss you.

Wines lately have been basic. Jam jar red for Christmas; a D-Day invasion labeled sauvignon blanc that was a gift (actually tasted good) was later in the week. New years eve I might add a martini to our dinner plan (French food) and later at home we have an alcohol infused eggnog (another gift) that may be opened. Some of those pre-made concoctions aren't too good but well see.

Happy(ier) new year to us all. 💕

Discovered a lovely dessert wine - Laughing Cat sweet gewurztraminer, from Carlson Vineyard. It's sweet with a touch of tart at the end, almost like a soft mead. I picked it up on a lark because my SiL is visiting, and I wanted to get something local from Colorado. I will be getting more, I believe.

Sounds like a late-harvest wine—as the grapes shrivel, the sugars concentrate. Decades ago, at the (now-defunct) Madron Lake Hills Estate winery in Berrien County, MI, we went to an Oct. harvest party—where we picked the botrytis-shriveled Gewurz grapes (they're actually pink!) and did the crush in a huge old wooden screw-type press.

Tomorrow night, whatever people decide to drink at the restaurant; and Mumm's (France, not Napa) or Laurent Perrier at midnight for those who braved the three-block walk through the snow flurries to our house.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy New Year's Eve! I am happy to have the desktop back in working order, the internet connection back, and power on, in reverse order. It's been quite the busy time recently. The countdown to retirement is 50 days. Feb 19th will be my last working day, I put in my notice a few weeks ago. Signed up for Medicare and Social Security. Need to find a Medi-gap plan and start working on cleaning out the house and fixing it up to sell. I'm going to move to North Carolina near my brother and his wife, get away from Maine winters and excess costs of everything. Going to have to find someplace there for Mom, too, as she's decided that she's going to move too, as long as we promise to come visit her from time to time, or else she'll just stay here--which won't happen because I will not be able to look out for her long distance and I'm not falling for being guilt tripped for not visiting when neither of us has even moved yet! The puppers are happily and successfully continuing my training as their doorwoman, chef, treat dispenser, tug partner, and bed pillow. Work is crazy, but just about what I expected, and being able to count the days is making things easier to cope with. Now, to get on with ketchuping with the BCO crew!

Chi--I kept my phone charged by plugging it into the car while I was working. Kept the work tablet charged up that way, too.

Karen--can't wait to read further and hear more about your trip!

Wallycat--I'm hoping the biopsy was benign, will be looking for that post. It's pretty crazy when we look at osteonecrosis as "only" and a better option than anticipated.

    Jazzy--the hot springs look wonderful!

Karen--what a trip so far! And what a small world, indeed!

Wallycat--glad to hear the DH is feeling better.

Goldie--glad you got home for Christmas. Sorry to hear the body is giving you grief. Hugs.

Chi--the egg cream sounds like quite the treat, so glad you found good ingredients that work!

Carole--the puppers and I did just fine through the windstorm and Christmas. Power was out for 3 days, back on 3 days before estimated. Fortunately, it hasn't been all that cold here yet this winter.

    Morning, Misty!

Reader--I missed you guys, too! I'm so glad to be back.

Mirandra--that Laughing Cat wine sounds delish!

    Now going back further:

Chi--so sorry to hear about Heidi and the mammo results. And glad to hear it's a whole lot of nuthin'

Karen--great to hear how happy you are with the grandbaby!

Chi--so sorry to hear about Heidi, and glad she was comfortable and being held and cuddled by you. Hugs.

    Hi, Dara!!

Happy New Year! I'm spending time with DH at his memory care place. It's our 64th wedding anniversary. We can't imagine being married that long even as we cross the mark. I had a great Christmas in Oregon with my son and his family, New Year's here with DD and SIL. Grandchildren turning 30 really make me seem old. Here's wishing a happy and healthy new year for us all.

Mornin’ everyone! I’m playing catchup, too. Went to Utah for Christmas, got sick, and now back home trying to recover.

Chisandy, the wine pressing sounds fun!

NM, glad your system is back and running! OMG, you have SO much going on! I’m worn out just listening to your plans.

    Wren44, congratulations on 64 years.

I hope everyone has a safe New Year’s Eve, however you choose to celebrate. No big plans here. Will be in bed long before midnight.

WallyCat, as always, wishing all good things for you and your DH.

NM, so happy to hear of your retirement news! 50 days will go by fast! Something happen at work to help you along with this decision? And of course, mom will go. That goes without saying.

Thank you all for your kind words. Heading out tomorrow for Phoenix. I need to be at the cancer center early for blood work, to determine if I can get chemo or not. I was told in the hospital, no chemo for now due to infections. But that was my week off, so we'll see. MO said if I blood work was ok, we could go ahead with it. Otherwise, he has nothing for me. This is my last line of treatment. My brother will also leave Tuesday afternoon.

Happy New Year to all of my Loungettes!

Happy New Year to all and may 2024 be of comfort and tranquility to all of us.

Apologies on not posting update. B-9 biopsy…just a run of the mill seb.keratosis.

DH and I went to express/urgent care yesterday. His fingers were turning purple…the doc said it is the "patriotic syndrome"…raynaud's. He's had white fingers, but never the blue/purple…glad nothing more serious.

NM…South Carolina from Maine…climate adjustment!! We hit 61 the other day and I feel like winter is passing me by. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Kim, welcome back, and Happy New Year (won't be logging back on till tomorrow). Lori, glad to hear you can still travel to Phoenix—hope you can get that chemo (maybe with an immune-boost first?) and that it buys you quality time. Wallycat, yay for benign! I get a lot of sebacious hyperplasias—each time my derm has to talk me down off the ledge.

Snowed today—stuck to only the trees, deck & grass (including at Soldier Field—Da Bears were much more used to it than were the Falcons). But still wearing boots to dinner—anything can happen on the 3-blk. walk. Gonna drink whatever goes with dinner, and at midnight will open whatever bubbly I'm putting out now to chill (hidden behind deck furniture).

Seborrheic keratoses not sebacious hyperplasia, though I have enough of those on my face…rant.

We had Josh Prosecco (Dh can't stand champagne/dry wine) with the lamb chops. YUM.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy New Year! Welcome to 2024! May this be a year of blessings and positive changes. I can't imagine what this year is going to be like, but I am in high hopes it will be better than some recently passed ones. The puppers say Hi and Happy New Year to everyone!

Carole--Happy Anniversary! Not many couples get to the 64th year these days, that makes you special. I can't imagine what it must be like to have children turning 30!

Sunshine--I was in bed long before midnight, too! I find it more fun to find videos of the ball droppings and other celebrations the next morning feeling rested and relaxed. Glad you had a good trip to Utah, other than getting sick.

Goldie-- I hope your visit with your brother is going well. Safe travels to Phoenix. The decision to make retirement official has been coming for a while. All the stuff going on at work, and my decreasing ability to keep up with the ever increasing demands, needing more time and energy to help Mom, wanting to move to be closer to my brother and his wife and get away from the Maine winters, and being ready to downsize to something smaller and easier to take care of, preferably all on one level just all came together. That, plus getting a lump sum payout of a retirement account from many years ago that is closing down gives me the money I need to fix up the current place to selling condition and have a down payment on a new place.

Wallycat--Glad the biopsy was B9! That must have been quite a scare, and very stressful. Raynaud's is crazy what it can do to fingers and toes. I'll happily trade winter weather with you! The hardest part recently has been that summers in Maine have been pretty much non-existent as far as good weather goes. Last summer it was either raining and 40's to 50's or 90's with high (for here) humidity. I swear it was easier to get outside during the winter than during the summer! I love prosecco!

    Teka--LOL!
