Good morning to everyone. Hope the holiday shopping is going well for those doing holiday shopping. I'm not doing much but did go to Bath & Body Works yesterday with a list. It so happened that you got three free products for every three you purchased so that was good. I don't use their products but my niece and her two daughters have favorites from there. It was in and out fairly quickly.

I ordered some learning toys for the two children, great niece and great nephew, I will see on Christmas day. The 5 year old boy is autistic but his 1 year old sister is not. Other than these gifts I will buy a Texas Road House gift card for my sister Michelle and her dh, our host and hostess for Christmas dinner.

I'm enjoying our winter weather with cold nights good for sleeping and sunny cool days. Just about perfect.

    Happy Thursday.

I'm officially on winter vacation! I have lots of paper work to catch up on, but it won't be done during break. My next few days are busy with getting ready to go visit our daughter. I hope to have time for a hair cut and mani/pedi.

Yesterday afternoon my team had our monthly meeting then our holiday get together - no drinking. I got home at 6 and I was totally exhausted. I can't believe how tired I am all the time. After dinner, when I sit down, I nod off till DH and I go for a walk. I've been falling asleep on the sofa and then when I wake up, I climb into bed.

I'm so glad that I decided to take an additional 2 weeks off after surgery. I will get the extension for HR at the past op on 01/30 (surgery is 01/16). Hopefully, the surgeon will agree to the extension. I'm just worried about fatigue. Finally, I'm putting myself first! In all I'll be off work for 5 weeks. I have plenty of sick time for that is not a concern.

In the couple days since my DD#1 ad GD went home, GD has started sitting independently. She could sit for a few seconds on Monday night. Exciting changes. She will be 7 months on Saturday.

Kim - hope your absence is just due to computer issues and nothing else.

Lori - how are you doing? How is visit with your brother going.

    Sweet dreams

I, too, hope nothing is wrong to keep NM from posting.

Karen, best wishes for a good trip.

    Thinking about Goldie.

I opened a bottle of Prosecco last night and enjoyed a glass of Prosecco and Chambord. Confession. Two glasses. I bought a champagne stopper from Amazon to keep the fizz in the opened bottle. Tonight I will see if it worked well.

Dara- good to see you sister! Thanks for coming back!

Karen- wishing you the best with your trip, time with daughter and helping the soldiers.

Mirianda- not a fan of those white elephant things. One of my yoga teachers asks us to bring something to our yoga retreats that we no longer want to let someone else choose it for themselves. She lays it all on a table and does a drawing for who picks when. I have always loved it and have come away with something I like. People have a better experience when they can "see" the item before they choose. I love that peanuts cartoon too (although depending on the rock, I might be pleased with that too……)

It's friday and payday whoo hoo. But I have to go back for a third time for jury duty next Monday, boo!

Have a good weekend all. May be back with more pictures of things soon!

Sandy, sorry to hear about Heidi. She lived a good long life with a loving family.

BabyGirl, speaking of pets, how are your little ones doing? I think Monkey and can't remember the other one.

Karen, I think you should take as much time off work as you can, especially if it means seeing your girls. Family is so much more important than work, especially for us with health issues.

Miriandra, not sure if I could steal someone else's gift either...too funny!

Dorothy, good to see you. I sure do hope you come back. It would be so nice to see you posting again.

My visit with my brother is awesome, altho most of the time is spent driving back and forth to Phoenix for doctors and procedures. No packing as of yet! Tuesday I had chemo, Wednesday was endoscopy and Thursday was a blood transfusion, which has helped with my energy and getting out of breath so easily. Leaving again tomorrow (Sunday). Urologist at 8 am Monday and chemo after that! Having some pain in left kidney, I think UTI and probably time to change the tubes. Pain in my tummy is now constant, Oxycodone is my new best friend! I'm so sick of being in pain, but I guess that's the new norm. No holiday shopping for me, everyone gets $$$.

I sure dislike this new format. It does stuff I don't know how to fix! It still doesn't show where we live. Logging in, I have to do twice and half a dozen clicks to get to my bookmarks

    DOTD: The Heidi Cocktail

We called it Heidi cocktail, because it’s delicate, a nice thin glass, looking sunny and innocent.

5 cl of Pink Sparkling Wine
    0,5 cl of gin
    1 cl of cranberry juice
    2 cl of apple juice
    2 drops of absinthe
    1 sprig of marjoram

Fun things from my day so far. A beautiful poinsettia and I started my annual cookie bake which is all kinds of biscotti

Dara - welcome back! You've been missed

Lori - glad your visit with your brother is going well and he is helpful. Good luck Monday with all you appointments.

    Jazzy - beautiful poinsettia

No baking for me till 2024. Still have cookies in the freezer even after DD#1 took a few bags. I did make cranberry muffins yesterday as I like them for breakfast and I make them several with me.

GD turned 7 months today - the time is going all too quickly. Keep checking flights for February. My poor VISA - every time I think the bill won't be so much it is! But it's worth every penny to see my kids.

Going to start picking out clothes tonight to take. Want to be finished packing tomorrow night or early Monday morning. I'm taking 4 jean skirts plus flying in one. I know that is way too much for 12 days, but as DD#2 likes to say, I want choices. Now to pick tops. Tights, leggings, shoes etc will be easy. Coat/vest,fleece and hoodie, I think I've got picked out.

Tomorrow, I'm going for a haircut and mani/pedi. I need to do a few things in the house and run a couple errands.

Monday, I have a "housecalls" visit that is part of my Medicare Advantage - I get a $50 Visa gift card to its worth the time - and they come to my house. Then to the bank and meet a girlfriend after lunch and lastly, DH and I have something late in the afternoon. By the time we get home from that it will be last minute things. Hopefully there won't be many last minute things, besides gather snacks and something to eat on the plane as we leave at 9:30am but get in the Boston at 4:00, then a 4 hour layover.

I've tried really hard to not have much produce left to throw out and I think I've done a pretty good job.

    Well, I best get busy.

    Welcome back, Dara!

Haven't been drinking much these days: a squirt of Beauj. Nouveau with last night's salmon, and a flute of prosecco at the Bar Show cast party to mark the beginning of the holiday rehearsal hiatus. Was on the fence for that one, as several cast membeers (including a producer) have come down with COVID. May not even go out for Christmas or New Year's. Several people I know who were vaccinated with the new shot more recently than I was caught it. I had my shot 3 months ago, and I'm sure immunity has waned—and for us (especially the seniors) it may not have been too robust to begin with. I resent having to be a hermit for the holidays, quarantining to avoid getting sick, not just spreading the virus. But it beats being on a ventilator.

Hi ladies- hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I have had another fun weekend again doing holiday things including some final Xmas shopping at my favorite nursery (where the pretty pointsettia came from) and just finished my biscotti bake. I have to containers put together to drop off in a bit to some folks and then the rest this week. I made three kinds: a cinnamon toasted almond, choc and macadamia nut chocolate, and a caramel walnut. The cinnamon toasted almond was a new kind this year and was my favorite after quality testing all three.

I went to the most FUN Xmas party last night with a yoga friend. Great food, people and the house was decorated in the most fun way. The biggest surprise was in the last hour when they came in the room where I was sitting and started rolling up the rugs to make a dance floor. Then the joint was really jumping, all kinds of fun music from the 60s and 70s mostly and for a short hour, I felt young again. I held my own on the dance floor.

Coming up to the last two weeks of the month and year. I head back to court tomorrow for what I hope may be my last trip to jury duty for this month. I am leaving on Sat for my annual get away to my fav hot springs then back for a few days, then off to CA to visit my sister and nephew for new years weekend. I have my bags open today to start some packing for both trips and will be working on that as I finish my work days and jury duty time for 2023.

Wishing everyone a good rest of the season and will be back again in the new year after I am back from my holiday travels. Be safe to everyone who is traveling near or far this season.

    Good morning, Loungettes!

I am fine, the replacement part for my desktop was delayed and arrived just in time for the big wind and rain yesterday. Now I have no power or internet at home. Most of the state has no internet, so I’m jumping on through my cell phone to say Hi and I’ll be back soon!

    LOL, Miriandra!

Kim, glad you're safe, but hope you can also stay warm & dry. Do you have a way to keep your phone charged while the power is out?

DOTD Monday night at the Palm was a Stag's Leap Meritage red blend. Tonight, with oysters & salmon roe, Mumm Napa 2015 DVX. Still looking for a bottle of a Zeller Schwarze Katz Mosel Kabinett—in memory of Heidi. My espresso this week is Intelligentsia Black Cat Classic—and the cups are adorned with its Black Cat logo (bought originally when we got her predecessor Misha back in 1997).

Arrived safely. Long travel day. I managed to sleep a little on the plane but didn't sleep well Monday night so was already tired when we left.

Tomorrow we are delivering medical supples to soldiers on one of the bases in the south - 2 large duffle bags that we brought with us. Still need to plan out Sunday - Thursday for next week.

Kim - stay warm and dry. Glad you got the part for your desktop computer.

A red blend from Portugal, on sale at costco. Only buy it when it is on sale and it is a very serviceable red.

Had a punch biopsy done on an odd looking thing on my back…hopeful it is nuthin', but I guess that is why they check.

In this forum "punch biopsy" may be something entirely different. 😆

We had an amazing day yesterday. We didn't get to go into any bases, but we met with 3 different groups of soldiers to give the life saving medical supplies. We still have more supplies to give out, but we left them with our contact. They will let us know if we can deliver more with them while we are here next week. We also saw many sights in the area that were devastated on October 7th. Very emotional. We totally feel safe. Monday we are going produce picking which is all day. Sunday we may help pack meals for families. We are seeing close friends Saturday night and others next week. Taking it day by day. Better get dressed and get ready to go pick up food for Shabbat - this girl doesn't cook when on vacation. The only time we eat out or buy yummy prepared food. Today is a day to go into town and relax. Shabbat comes in early so it is a short day. Depending where you are at, we are 7-10 hours ahead of you. 7 hours eastern time, 9 mountain time, 10 pacific time.

    Have a great Friday.

I opened the 2nd bottle of prosecco last night and had a couple of glasses with Chambord. The stopper I bought from Amazon works fine in keeping the fizz in the bottle.

Still drinking the Portugal blend. I did spoil myself with on-line wine order (3 cases!) and even included the Zeller that Sandy was looking for. I'm not a white wine gal, but DH will try to down it (he's not much of a drinker). His CT came back as possible "only" osteonecrosis of the jaw and the cancer we knew about (lumbar, skull and mandibular condyle) still there. We'll see what "the team" thinks and just hope we can keep the infection from spreading and clearing it up.

I had a small pour of rum over the rice pudding I made yesterday. I could easily get fat on that. Sigh.

Lovely, Jazzy! Unseasonable warm here too—but definitely not hot-springs weather. We split a bottle of cava with a friend at "reveillon" dinner at Big Jones tonight. (Last night's DsOTD were a "Goodbye Norma Jean" cocktail of mezcal, grapefruit, Amaro and blood orange syrup (candied dehydrated slice of blood orange as garnish), and Meiomi Belle Glos pinot noir).

    Beautiful Jazzy!

Yesterday we delivered the last of the medical supplies on a base near Jerusalem. Today we are packing beef Jerky for soldiers and tomorrow we are picking fruit on a farm about an hour from Jerusalem. We still need to figure out Wednesday and Thursday. Friday we are going to Friends for Shabbat and then Sunday we will spend in Tel Aviv and fly back to Denver late at night our flight is actually 00:15 on January 1st. Saturday afternoon into yesterday afternoon it rained, pretty much non-stop. The rest of the trip the should be nice. The next few nights we are meeting up with friends, two who have lived in Israel for a number of years but originally from Denver and the other our neighbor who is here volunteering for a month on farms. The time is going by all too quickly. Wish would could be longer, but a thing called work, till I retire, gets in the way! Oh well, in due time.

On the base yesterday, one of the soldiers is originally from the states. His parent's Rabbi is a friend of ours and he knows 3 former Denverites who went to school with our kids and we've known their parents for decades. Small world.

Wishing everyone who celebrates, a very happy Christmas holiday.🌲🌲

DH and I split a bottle of California "champagne" last night. It was wonderful to watch him be enthused about food again…slow progress on the infection but the pain seems to be lessening now that he is off the Pluvicto. Hope he never has to have that again….but we'll see what happens.

Jazzy, love the topography of the southwest. Beautiful.

    Safe travels, Karen.

    Hope Goldie is doing OK.

Tried a little "Almond Malk" fake eggnog. Let's just say the mfr's heart is in the right place.

DsOTD: At our BFFs' house for dessert & gift-exchanging, some real eggnog with bourbon. And right now at home I am drinking an Aperol spritz made with the last of the Mumm Napa DVX no-longer-bubbly and freshly made seltzer.
