NIght night girlz! Kymn, I don't think anyone took your post to mean you thought anyone here was a snob. I think we all just were having fun joking about being snobs....it was someone earlier who just popped in for 1-2 posts that said that. And yeah, I knew you were trying to explain how it takes awhile to be "in the know" about the HTL, inside jokes, etc. But that was sweet of you to clarify, just in case anyone took it that way. We are all just a bunch of crazy drunks....LOL. I love all the gals here, cause we all have something different to add to the thread....and the funny posts and funny pictures are so fantastic! And remember, you can add things to the HTL that you think would be an improvement.....this is our zanadu!

Been on this 'puter toooooo much today.....time for melatonin and beddy-bye. Night all you night owls!

well girls let me tell you what I did.....last wednesday night I went out with friends since I had been to "chemo class" earlier that day and got to see what I was going to look like bald....thought I was prepared....NOT!!!!!! During the course of the evening started feeling sorry for myself so i DID more shots with everyone....then I decided I was driving home............Got pulled over....got arrested....got a DUI....my first dose of chemo is this Tuesday and then I go to court Weds. morn at 8:30 to throw myself on the mercy of the Judge............just what I need at this point! Stupid on my part and a part of me is glad they stopped me cause if I would have hurt anyone for my STUPIDITY I really would be losing my mind (more than I am since being diagnosed!).....When we have our first dose, how long before you usually become sick??? That would be great if I throw up on the Judge LOL

Hi ya Cherokee, welcome to the Hot Tatties Lounge.  We're a pretty good bunch of gals here and we like to have a little fun.  Awe man.....did you really get a DUI?  that indeed is not what you needed.  I do hope the judge has a sympathetic heart and lets you off with a smack on the hand and a don't do it again line!  Cherokee, it really depends on the person as to wether they get sick or not.  Some people have no SE's (side effects) while others have heaps.  I pray you are one that doesn't fair too badly.  The best advice anyone can give right now is make sure you drink heaps and I mean heaps of water and rest when you need to.  The added water helps to eliminate the poison from your system.  Good luck with your treatment and remember, you are not alone, we are all there with you holding your hand all the way.

Love n hugs to you as I know you will be needing them.  Chrissyb

Wahine-thanks for asking what the Electric Kool Aide Acid Test is, I don't know either. Of course, I grew up with a mother that made Kool Aide with half the sugar and an extra couple cups of water to make it go further. . . .

Dorthy-You and Beanie need to lower your voices or have the tenders set up a D&B Alert sign so we all know when to worry and when to just eavesdrop. . .

Stanzie-with so much going on there's no way everyone can keep up with everyone! When I feel the need, I put up a split screen on my computer, with BCO on one side and Word on the other, so I can read and answer as I go. Then I copy/paste, and add pics for fun! The more people I respond to the more Pics I can go looking for!

Kymm-it does take time to figure everyone out. I've been here for a while and I still get confused! Or is it too drunk to keep up?

Cherokee-I can understand how you felt, and why you did what you did, and I'm glad no one got hurt. I didn't have chemo so can't answer that question, but explaining your situation and owning up that you were in the wrong should get you some compassion from the judge. Better you come in here and drown your sorrows from now one. We'll have the Tenders set up one of those arcade driving games so you can drink and drive, virtually and safely!

Now, what would make a good DOTD for today?

    Electric Koolaid recipe

    1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur
    1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur
    1/2 oz Midori® melon liqueur
    1/2 oz cherry brandy
fill with 1/2 sweet and sour mix
    fill with 1/2 cranberry juice
    1 splash grenadine syrup

Pour ingredients into a Collins glass filled with ice.

Ok, NM that guy is kind of scary. As in isn't his belly button a little low and the dimples on either side... Oh dear I don't think I want to know any more! But if we actually drank the DOTD we might figure it out. Wow that one is potent and sweet! Could send you sky hiigh I'd imagine.

Cherokee - Yikes! Really glad no one was hurt. Hey those friends of yours given what you are going through should have gotten you home safely. Anyway hope the judge lets you talk and say something in your defense. About two years ago I got stopped for speeding. I was following my on again off again and it was in a neighborhood with curves, hills and wide streets. He said he was going 32 - yes it was 25 mph zone but they said I was going 43??? How would that be possible as he was way ahead of me? Anyway, I later heard they target mini-vans - how odd?

So went to court and I had several people tell me I should tell what happened in case the officer wasn't there then maybe they would throw it out. Well they had lots of people ahead of me - some with drug charges some DUI. Basically none of the charges or fines were very bad But when they got to me he wouldn't let me say anything and charged me $350.00! If I had just sent  in the money it would have been $150.00. I got so scared cause I didn't bring enough cash and they only took cash and were telling people if they didn't have it they would lock them up. I was terrified but called a friend who brought me extra money! Very scary. So check out the situation while you are there and bring a friend along!

So NM you do split screens? Wow, that sounds great but cannot imagine how that is done.....

Sorry I was being naughty at the lounge last night, I hope I did not offend anyone.

Cherokee, I am sorry to hear about your little incident with the police.  How about all of us gals get on the our bus and come to Ohio to support you in court.  We have gathered many times in the past to support our breast friends. Be sure to bring the cancer card you were dealt with and play it. What time is court?

Stanzie, I wanted to let you know that I am wearing my new knee highs today and feel so comfy. I was kidding about the rubber band marks on my legs although I was using rubber bands.

NM, when me and Beans get drinking, our whispers are quite loud. Sorry for the panic we caused at the lounge with the F-bomb scare, it won't happen again, for today at least hahaha.

Kymn, I was not talking about you being a snob. I was talking about this girl that visited then called us snobs without getting to know us. You are one of us now and we enjoy your company very much. Hang tough and have a great day.

Happy Valentines Day to all you fine ladies. I am sneaking to the lounge from work and am drinking beer outta my coffee cup. No one will know. I guess I will do a little work, a little drinking, a little work and more drinking. I am quite tired today despite having a nap yesterday, I might just dump the beer and have a Jack n Redbull.  Yeah baby, that's it.  Tata my breast friends.

Had to post this lovely chocolate Valentine dessert. There is a restaurant here that makes something that looks just like this. They call it a Bonzo Cake - it is a chocolate brownie on the bottom, cheesecake then chocolate moussee, then more cheesecake and a chocolate ganache - I think!!! Really quite good.

Wow  Stanzie, that is some yummy (ono) dessert!!! Glad you have the knack of posting pics now....fun, isn't it! Althought that valentine pic is a *little* scary...LOL. Split screens are easy....just make the window smaller by clicking on that square in the top right corner....then open another window and do the same thing. You can move them around by clicking and holding the mouse up in the very top bar. I do that a lot when I want to download pics from my camera....by having my pictures folders open in one screen and my camera pics in another, I can just drag pictures from one to the other. Hope that helps! (In case you want to do the word screen and bc.org screen that way, like NM does).

NM, OMG that pic almost would turn me OFF of koolaid!! LMAO! Like Stanzie, I don't think I want to figure out the bottom half....looks like they may have photoshopped it or something to cover up some man parts!

Welcome Cherokee, You will LOVE it here,  and can be as crazy as you want! It is hard to drive when we are upset, besides having too much to drink. When I lost my late DH, I ran right through a red light, and this was a few wks later....barely missed sideswipping a car, as I was downtown. Later at a grief support group, I found out that others had done the same thing! Makes it scary to be on the road! I had not been drinking, and it was in the afternoon. So I wonder how many people are driving that are terribly upset, grieving, etc....besides the drunk ones and druggies! Best of luck in court!!!!

Dorothy, you and Beans were a bunch 'o fun last night! Thoroughly enjoyed "eavesdropping"! Well,DH got me a big card, roses, and those stained glass classes...which I will love! I got him some special dark godiva candy he likes, plus dance lessons (he may not like that! :)), and meant to get him big bags of bird seed (sunflower seeds, gourmet mixes, etc)....but I didn't get to shop. He is an avid bird feeder and our yard is registered as a wildlife habitat, so he goes thru tons of seed. I was also going to do a digital frame for him, with special pics, but I can't find where I hid that frame! Story of my life! LOL.

Have a great day everyone! And hope the dr visits go well today, as well as Cherokee's court date later this week. I think I will try out the Electric KoolAid drink that NM found for us! Dwink on!

    Happy Monday,

    Kathy

O Cherokee....  I am so sorry.  I am really careful at parties these days and save my wine drinking for places I can walk to, or at home.

Go wig shopping as you still have a bit of time.  I got two cute ones for $29 each.  Made a major difference in how I felt about things.

I threw up twice with my first chemo, but only brief, and not at all like being sick that way.  Otherwise, I was queasy, but drinking a lot of water always took care of the situation.  It will help greatly if you go out and walk every day even when you are dragging.  I am assuming in saying this that you will be up and about.

NM.......sorry that your computer didn't work out.  The big expense is never the hardware, but it's the software required to run it.  The basic "home" package is really basic.  I need the full Microsoft "professional" package, and that doesn't come cheap.

Posting pictures is on my list, but below some other things.

Right now, I am in the mood to celebrate Valentine's Day as opposed to working, but guess which I need to do???

Wishing everyone the most fantabulous V-day!!! - Claire

I don't get in a funk too often but why does it have to rain when I'm down here? Went Eileen Fisher shopping and spent way too much $ on 2 new outfits. Also went wine tasting yesterday at a winery in town, of which I am a wine club member. They had a release party with sushi and pizza and huge crystal glasses to take home. This morning I took my car to the dealer for a recall and now I'm waiting to hear what is going to cost to get 2 idiot lights to go off. So far, $196 just to see why they are on. The car is old and I wouldn't bother but one of the lights is for brakes. DD2 passed her driving class this weekend so she may be driving my car while she learns and I'd hate to have her experience a failure... and why is it raining again? I'm housebound. UGGG. Maybe I'll make a fire and have a glass of wine with lunch. That and a cat on my lap should help...

wait... I said LAP not laptop!

This is my new alpaca top.

Of course, I had to get new, pale grey slacks to go with it...  and the slacks I liked went so well with this big fuzzy sweater...

hey, I didn't see that skirt...  hmmm.

I was tempted to buy a beautiful silk scarf but realized it looked a lot like one I bought at an artisan fair a couple of years ago. Maybe a fire, a cat, a cup of jo, and a scarf would cheer me up?

Ok, who LOVES her coffee maker? I did all the research and thought I needed a $300 Technivorm Moccamaster. Went to William-Sonoma for a demo and brought one home. Made a mess on my counter and the coffee wasn't hot enough. Thankfully they took it back. DH is a press-pot person and insists this is the only way to make coffee but I don't think it is hot enough and I hate microwaving coffee half way through the cup. So this morning I tested the water he was pouring from the electric kettle into the press pot and as I suspected, it was only about 150 degrees (200-220 is optimal). So I'm thinking I should either replace the kettle with one that gets hotter, or get a new coffee maker. Then I can stop shopping. Did I mention I hate to shop? Really I do but it does keep me busy... I'm beginning to understand the term "retail therapy" :)

Gail, Sawwy you are getting dwowned there. BUT those purchases are gawgeous, and your cat pics are soooooo funny! Even in a funk, you have your sense of humor....way to go! Hope the car light repair won't be too much$$$. I had a surprise too...didn't realize hot water heaters are so high....but will be $900, installed. DH and SIL installed the one at our house, but SIL is in TX, so can't do that again! As far as joe makers, I really like my Keurig, as I like flavored coffee, and it is sooo simple with the k-cups. My DH likes a strong cuppa joe, so has an espresso maker. He uses whole beans, and I am trying to recall his grinder...think its a "burr grinder"....is that right? No blades, as this way is supposed to be better, but I may have the name incorrect. But I like mine on the cool side, so also add liquid flavored creamer....in hot weather I have to add ice too! NOT a great one to advise you on coffee makers!!! Do you check the websites that do reviews? I get good info there when buying things. HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER!!!! The weather here today is so gawgeous that I dare not get in a bad mood....sunny, 60's, what could be better???

    Oh, this is for Dorothy....

And found her old drinking buddy (now a ghost)...

When I am down I either eat, shop, or sulk! I figure it's easier to take back a purchase than to get rid of extra calories but I've never acrualIy done either. I drink flavored coffee sometimes too and by flavor I mean booze. I was thinking about getting DD1 a Keurig for college and maybe we could test it first. DH is a serious coffee snob so I checked all the reviews I could find online and then bought the highest rated machine (Technivorm) and was disappointed. I'm wondering if we should just move closer to Peet's.

Just made myself a wholesome lunch -- whole wheat waffle with fresh fruit.... i did pour a little Kahlua in the batter (usually add vanilla bit it's raining) and sprinkled the top with sugar and cinnamon just before it was finished... and then I added some butter, powdered sugar and whipped cream. It was yummy but the pear and cheese Claire perscribed would have been much healthier. Maybe I should go back to the mall... either to get myself away from the kitchen or to return the slacks I just bought...

    Wahine,

Thanks for the Jack, I sure needed that. If I get busted drinking on the job, I will just blame you and tell management that you told me it was a virgin bottle of JD haha.

I am looking forward to getting out of here today and celebrating with my Valentine.  He is taking care of dinner which will be a surprise.  I had a hard time shopping for him. I made him a big goodie bag of all kinds of stuff.  A little box of chocolate, a big homemade chocolate chip cookie, a few candles (yes, he loves candles more than I do). I got him a new keychain and  a six pack book of car washes. I do not know what he got me but I told him not to spend too much.  It is the thought that counts. We are pass the days of bling, I have plenty of it and do not need anymore.  I have been considering selling off a lot of my gold since the value is so high and I have quite a bit that I do not use.

Thanks for the pink roses Kymn, they are gorgeous. I can smell them from here.

I will try to catch up with everyone later tonight if DH lets me go on my PC. He may have other ideas, ughhh. To all, enjoy your evening and good luck in court Cherokee, I will be praying for you.  I am so sorry that happened to you.

Peace and lots of love to each of you fine gals ♥

I love my coffee makers, yes that  is plural.  I have a programmable drip coffee maker that can have coffee ready for me when I have to get up and going in the morning.  Then I have a vacuum unit that works on top of the stove--fill the bottom with water, attach the filter to the top and and plug it into the bottom, add coffee, cook for 1 minute after the water is forced up into the top, take it off the heat and watch it get suckec back into the bottom section, and drink!  Then there's the alcohol lamp percolator that lives on the sun porch and saves me when the power goes out.  Oh, I almost forgot--I have an expresso machine, too.

Dorothy.....   You are approaching the bling from the wrong angle.  You need the right necklines to showcase the stuff you have.  Then, sometimes it needs to be "rethought".

I am doing this with an antique silver Jensen pin I have that I found in a thrift shop.  I don't wear pins much, but it will make a fab pendant.  It's going off to the jewelers in a few days.

I need to eat some of the cheese I bought the other day.  Yum.  Will get some chocolates for tonight.  Still deciding whether to open the wonderful bottle of Pinot or go for the champagne.

Quiet work day so far, but working on the last two pieces of the mega-project.  Keeping very simple so goes with the other portions that have already been presented.

Overall rainy and miserable here, so glad to have an excuse to indulge. - Claire

Claire - can't you have both Pinot and champagne? But then you'd probably fall asleep... that's for us old married people.

I like your idea of converting a pin to a pendant. My MIL keeps giving us "heirloom" jewelry which my daughters rarely want (they do not care whether they are valuable or not). There are many pins and I don't think teenagers wear pins so I get them all. I've been displaying some of them on pillows in my bedroom and I've put many on a denim jacket but I don't wear it often.

Girls girls girls (that song is in my head)....Happy ♥ Day to all. I got a new shiny set of Oneida Silverware which I have wanted to match another set I have. Yay, now I can set a table with  matching silver.  He also got me some chocolate which may be gone shortly. Well maybe not.

astorm, your lunch sounds nutricious and delicous. And I can relate to the eating thang, OMGawd, I have been being good all day but then drink at night and make eggs with cheese, then will have soup, then pretzels. Damn, I am suffering from Munchi-ism. Are there M.A. meeting out there for me?

Where is beans, did she get locked up again?

Margaret, sorry I mispoke, I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping that you make it through your treatment with ease. And I we will all be thinking of you on Wed. morning.  That really sucks that you got the DUI. I hope the judge takes it easy on you.  And here at the lounge, we can drink virtually if we need to. We will hold your hand if we have to, right girls.

NM, love your pics and the captions too. You pour your drink,,,,,errrr, I mean your heart into this. I hope you are feeling well.

And where is Junie, locked up with Beans?? and HD, is it something I said?

Claire, I like the way you think girl. I wish I could think. It is Kathy's fault, she had me drinking at 4pm and I have not stopped since.

Chrissy, great words of wisdom to Cherokee Margaret. Hugz to you there down under.

Ok, gtg. If I missed anyone, sawry.  Cheers, beers....tits up, bottomz down!!!!! xoxo

glad everyone has had a good Valentine's Day!   Mine was flat out CRAPPY!!!  It is also our anniv and it is 1st year in many that we have not been off celebrating at some tropical beach resort--what a bummer!   I did make it out to the deck for a bit and soaked up a few Vita D rays.   Spent part of the morning with the county visiting nurse who drops in once or twice a week to check on me--she is a sweetheart and has lots of good suggestions.   Spent the afternoon with the good Phys Therapist--he increased the number of times for my exercises and wore my butt out!!   He says I am doing good.   If weather stays nice, he will walk me outside on next visit.   This rehab business is getting tedious but is so necessary.   Poor DH is doing his best to keep my spirits up but I'm not helping him with his.    This is going to be a real test of our marriage!!

I am reading your posts every day but not posting much--brain is still kinda foggy!    This so reminds me of beast time with surgery, chemo, rads, no end in sight forever!!!     Somehow seems not quite fair to be dealing with another extended serious health problem......who's got cheese to go with my whine?????   Big s i g h........hugggsssssss to ALL,   Gotta go do the nightly medicine thing then I'm heading to the casino--must be feeling a little better 'cause getting that gamblin' itch!!!!

BOTTOMZ up; TITZ any which way!!!!.....stopping at the fukitol fountain first!!!!!!

Hang in there, we are thinking of you and missing you, and can't wait till you can party here all night long again! Very glad that the PT is going better with the better therapist....he must be cute! J/K. Lotta cheese here to go with your whine, my DH "cuts the cheese" all the time! Never heard that phrase till I met him, though. Don't forget to get lotsa cash outta our free cash machine on your way into the casino...CaChing! Hoping you win big, and can forget about rehab and exercizes for awhile! Glad you popped in, and hope you will stay and chat awhile. Sending some ML's into the casino for you!

    Good morning, girls,

Junie,  sorry yor anniversary was not a good one. Maybe you can celebrate when you are feeling better.  Glad ya got a new therapist though. Hang in there.

I have a busy day, I have a meeting at 10am, a training class at 2pm then I leave at 3:30 for a doctor appoiintment. I am hoping to get some answers regarding my numb hand, fingers and painful sensations on the back of the same arm.  And crap, I went to put my contact lenses in this morning and my left one was not in the container. I must have missed when I took them out last night. Deciding if I go on with one lense or wear the dorky glasses.

That's my story.  I will check back from the office and see if there iis a dotd, I could sure use one.  I will be thinking of Cherokee as she goes through her first tx today. Have a good Tuesday girls.  Titz up!!

Oh Junie - so sorry your Anniversary and Valentine's Day wasn't up to it's usual celebrations but I'm sure your DH is most happy just to have you home with him. Glad your therapists are better that should help.

Ok, can't go back a page and forgot about trying the split screen but as to antique and vintage jewelry which I totally adore but understand it isn't everyone's cup of tea, my sister had a beautiful pendant turned into a fabulous bracelet so remember those valuable family pieces can be reworked and they will probably appreciate them more when they are older.

I agree with Claire - I think you just have to rethink how you wear your jewelry and maybe join AStorm as she storms the malls for more beautiful clothes!

NM - well, goodness that is more coffee machines than I have ever heard of one person having! Glad you are covered with the electricity goes out. I love coffee but can't drink it in the am as it is hard on my stomach but really like it at night after a lovely meal. One restaurnt here does the French Press and it is so wonderful- have thought about getting one of those if I can figure out how to work it. Anything that plugs in can confuse me.....

    Off to try cleaning..... ick
