Make sure you have some drive you though, as I found the benadryl they give the perfect "date rape" drug. A guy could have done anything to me at that point and I would not have cared one but. I got less the next time.
Ask about Acetyl-L-Carnitine to prevent neuropathy. I was in a study where I got either that or a placebo. I did not get neuropathy. You are about six months too soon for us to know what the results of the study were so can't help there. - Claire

Oh Stanzie, I mean "MItch"....I wish I could help with the oreo truffles...they sound so ono! Hey, I know...if you do bring them to the HTL, then all the calories magically disappear! The truffles will disappear quickly too, as I think we all might like them...if someone doesn't like them I have dibs on their share...j/k. I would be helpless with them around, also. Will be eating enough sweets on the cruise! Hoping the girl will work out for the summer...maybe she will help with some things too, since you are so gracious to let her stay there. Well, as I thought... $534 for both dogs at the vet! But I also got their heartworm pills for the year, and pills for Mavericks hip...now $107 for 30 of them....yikes! They are getting older, just like we are. Mav has degenerative disease (I have degenerative disc), and they found a murmur in Molly's heart (DH has murmur and valve leak). Luckily hers is a 2 on a scale of 10, with 10 being highest (according to vet). Weird how each of them has something wrong related to each of us, and Mav is more my dog, and Molly more DH's dog! But you wouldn't know Molly has a problem, she runs so fast and acts like a much younger dog. OK...now do you think I can work part-time at the HTL, maybe washing glasses, doing party preps, etc....to pay for their vet bill???
Now back out to run errands. FIRST STOP: ABC store....need bottle of rum for trip!!! Cannot run out of likker, thats for certain. LOL. Oh, and need another Rattler dwink too, except then if we develop rattlers from that, then we cannot sneak up on anyone. *Trying to sneak up on Lori right now*...."Boo!".... Oops didn't realize she was on the phone with a customer. Lori, do you forgive me??? Sawwry about dat! Maybe I can sneak up on someone else....oh looks like Beans has just come in....wanna ask her how the appts went, so....tata for now!

I too did the L-Carnetine and did not get neuropathy, and I also have polish on finger and toe nails at ALL times, so did not lose any of those either. Not sure if it was because of the polish or not, same goes for the neuropathy. Good Luck Hon!

End of the work week for me!!!! A normal schedule for once!!! Supposed to meet a gf tomorrow for coffee, but we haven't confirmed it yet....looking forward to puttering in the house....plus need to make a trip to the post office....and maybe do some more baking....
Got to do some work for work....catch up on all the medicaid billing I haven't done all semester....especially if I want a job again next year!!! NOt in the mood to do much tonight, so going to just relax....a friend is coming over to have a brewster or two with hubby...at least they'll be in his office!!!

May be able to come home tomorrow. (for some of you newer posters, Kathy and I live in different parts of the country. We have met once, but it seems like we both have the same black cloud--if I have a fire; Kathy has one; Kathy has a plumbing problem--I have one; Kathy's netbook shoots craps--so does mine!!! LOL--I keep telling her to play the lottery and WIN!!!
Looks like the B&B is back in business for the summer. Will have a houseful of kids/grandkids this week end. Will be good to see them all. The babies grow and change so fast--but, it will be tiring. I think they all just want to come see the old lady with the hose up her nose!! LOL--the 24/7 oxygen is wearing but better than the alternative! It is supposed to rain for next 5 days with some potential for tornadoes--Kathy, get your butt on that boat quick!!!

Kathy, your avatar pic is adorable. And so odd about the comparison of your furbabies to you and DH, that is something. Sorry to hear about the heart murmor but they are usually not a problem. Two of my dogs have them but only recently has my old guy been "diagnosed". I forgot about the grades given to them until you brought it up.
Lori, my old guy, Mo, is doing well as can be. His balance seems much better. He has to take anti-b's two weeks on, then two weeks off, for life. I can relate to Raquel over the cost of the vet. And lady, you really should give this gal a few more letters in the puzzle, after all, on the wheel wheel show, I would be able to guess consenants (sp?) so I would like you to put the vowels on the puzzle board along with ----- for the letters I have not guessed. It is only fair, dont ya think?

Kymn & Husker - wishing you NO nausea, good sleep, and snuggly jammie days during your treatments. It really does end, and it does get better.
I saw some chat about dogs . . . can't get started on that, just don't have time. But hope all the fur babies are well and happy!

Tomorrow is . . . my 1 year cancerversary . . . the day the doc said "you have breast cancer." It is also my 21st wedding anniversary - so we have much to celebrate!

Late to the PAR-TAY as was out at the opera. Magic Flute with costumes by Zandra Rhodes. Really stunning, fun and well sung.
Dinner was some eggs w/cheese and leftover veggies. Plus wine. Actually yummy.
Spent the day tying up ends on things that needed tying up, and set up a new business interview for Monday. Also have my eye on a full time position locally. Sent off an email to a contact, but he doesn't know the crowd where the posting is open. I will need to try other avenues.
I have the right combination of experience. Similar to what I interviewed for back in the fall, but I think more generalist experience and less on heavy-duty statistical methodologies.
Was fun dressing for the opera. Wore my long brown linen coat over a glam cashmere twinset (or rather a cardigan and tank combo). And then a fun pair of flats. Felt quite bohemian looking, and gamine. Glad I brought a scarf as the walk home was nippy.
Did I mention the opera was great. Need to unwind a bit more prior to crashing. - Claire

Anniversary Cocktail: Raspberry 'Bellini'
- 1 bag frozen unsweetened raspberries, thawed
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 bottle (750-ml) chilled brut Champagne
Blend the raspberries and sugar in a food processor or blender until pureed. Strain the raspberry puree through a sieve; discard the seeds, if you wish. Set up 6 Champagne flutes and put about 1 tablespoon of raspberry puree in each glass. Add Champagne to each glass; stir gently and serve.

Happy thursday...another rainy day here in the Rockies....plans with gf fell through....she has her 5 year old grand.....it seems like forever since our schedules meshed!!! it will make getting together all the more special when we finally do.....working 3 days/week does put more a crimp in social life, but it does help with my mental health, never mind the pocket book!!!!
So that I'm productive today, I'm going to head off to the mall to get some walking in....maybe I can start to shed these 10#!!! And maybe get me in a more cheery mood....in a funk....will tell you all more about it later.....so wishing everyone a good its almost friday day...Karen

Funny my son got a Wheel of Fortune game but it is so not fair as I have such an advantage so I keep winning.... Kind of like cross word puzzles you have to know how the topics can mean different things.
So had the roofer and the mason out today... doesn't look good. Not happy at all about all these repairs ands till have to figure out the AC. Also very worried about a friend of mine. She is on prozac and was on Strattera for ADD but she has flipped out a few times at work and called me to come meet her - now she is paranoid about the other workers and has gotten herself into trouble because she was worried co-workers were going behind her bosses back... I don't know very confusing but it is scaring me big time and don't know how to help her. I did ask her to tell her brother what is going on as he is really her only relative - her Dad is around but having heart problems so .... Just so worried about her.

We still can't get the guy to answer our calls...the 2 coils were supposed to come in yesterday and he knew we wanted him to do the work today or tomorrow. He wants $600 just to put the 2 coils in (parts are covered), and with all the months we have waited on him to call back, come out, order parts, etc. I bet we could have had it done sooner and for less $ with someone else. It sucks how you can hardly get anyone to do a job anymore, even though you are willing to pay what they want. AAARRRGHHHHHHHHH!!! So sorry about your friend too; sounds like some serious problems. I hope she does call her brother, and he can get her some help. Stanzie, it sounds like your plate is too full, and overflowing. Time for some rest and relaxation!!!!

Good evening, Loungettes! Sorry to be off so long but I am soooo tired, and spending so much time on the computer at work that I don't get on it much at home. Orientation is going very well, I should be on my weekends in another few weeks. I'm getting anxious to get switched over to that schedule and have a life again! Got my first full 2 week check today, cleared more in the last 2 weeks than I was clearing in a month at the university! I think I'm going to like this!
I want to stay and say high to everyone, but Sadie needs some play time. She's really been acting up lately, and I can't even really blame her. She doesn't like being left home alone so much.

Thanks for coming with me yesterday too, it was a long day. I went to bed early but couldn't sleep, right, until the alarm when off at 3am. So I got out the door a little after 4 and made it through all the traffic pretty well. Got my mamos first and I asked the tech to please be gentle as my boobs have been thru so much, well she could just tell by looking at my poor red rad boob, and the other one with all the scars, and proly by the look on my face. Anyway, she was super gentle (thank God) and it didn't hurt and good news the results were NED! I was shaking like a leaf through all the pictures, though and musta said ten bajillion Hail Mary's, so def was scared sh*tless. Got outta there and went for gyno exam which all was good. She was not at all concerned about the side ache, said maybe I pulled a muscle??? Got US of vag and pelvis with pretty good results, looks like tamox is doing some benign stuff to my uterus, but ovaries are good. Then bloodwork which I don't have back yet and MO apt which was all great. She also had no concern with side ache and suggested maybe just one of those aches and pains we get as we get older. So good news and sorry for being totally flipped out about these follow ups. Got home late last night then to dentist this am and mostly that's good, but I have a cracked filling so will have to get that fixed. I really appreciate everyone going on the bus with me it sure made it all more fun!

I really do think you ladies have saved my life this past week or so (and past year or so too). I am so grateful to you for letting me come here and freak out and whine and biotch about every little thing. Your support and kindness has meant so much to me...so now is it FINALLY HAPPY HOUR??? And Beans, such GREAT news!!! Party hearty tonight, thats for sure!!! Pupu is the Hawaiian word for hors d'oeuvres. And now they call it "grinds"....very slang though. Yes, my avatar is my sweet Maverick, and he really is a bunch of sweetness....just adores being with us (well me more than DH...LOL), and immediately rolls over to get belly rubs. He and Molly love the g'kids, but never learned how to play...so they just wag and get so happy, but watch the g'kids play. At least they don't grab the balls they throw around!!

Gotta share this....everytime we go anywhere, my DH asks if they have free samples, like even in the bank! There, he asks if they are giving any money away. So we go into the state run likker store yesterday, and when this girl comes over to see if we need any help, he says "got any free samples"? She laffs for a sec, then says.."wait a minute I think I do"....and brings us a mini bottle of some fancy flavored vodka from France! Swore us to secrecy (but hey, no one here talks, right? If so, DorK knows some "people"), as she wasn't supposed to do that. I could not believe it!!!
