Anyone watch Survivor? One of the tribes is called "Manono", which is my late aunts name, from Hawaii. We pronounce it MAH-NO-NO, but they pronounce it MAH-NA-NO....weird! ANYWAY learned a new word from one of the contestants, can't wait to use it, as my DH does this ALL the time, but not on purpose! The word of the day is.....neologisms. Now, lets all get steampigged!

Mema, you ain't the only person to forget stuff like that. A friends DH had to go for blood work, didn't fast, actually had a huge breakfast at Denny's, well duh, his cholesterol numbers were
off the charts, doctors wanted to put him in the hospital, etc. Til they figured out he didn't fast... The joys of modern medicine!

Good morning, Loungettes! Woke up to a landscape covered in snow. But the sun is supposed to come out today, so it will all probably melt away and we'll go back to mud season again.Here's the view out my bedroom window:
DorKable--I had plans to plant a bunch of bulbs last fall but it never happened. I've got to do better this fall. Got to decide where I want them and get the ground prepped this summer. In short, I need a plan. If I have a plan I get things done. If not, things don't get done. I love seeing the early spring flowers popping up, got to get some out there for me to find next spring! I always have trouble adapting to the time change. I am such a creature of habit! Since I only have to get up at a certain time 2 or maybe 3 days a week I guess it really isn't a big problem, just annoying.
Mrs. Vino--watch out girlie, we're coming to get you! Gonna throw you into the pool!
Karen--I hear you about the pre-appointment anxiety. I've got an onc appointment next month and am starting to get anxious about that. Popcorn sounds good, but I put way too much butter and salt on it to be good for me! No excuse needed for a glass of wine in my book! Gonna see if I can find you on Facebook. Did you know you can post pics from Fb to the boards here? And of course we'll go with you tomorrow! Is the UFO all fueled up? And does it have a full tank of gas, too?

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Irsh Spring--Happy St. Paddy's Day!
1 oz Irish Whiskey
1/2 oz Peach Brandy
1 tsp Cherry
1 slice Orange
1 oz Orange Juice
1 oz Sweet and Sour MixDirections

What a neat St. Pat's day dwink, NM! The IRISH SPRING sounds ono! Usually we have Irish Coffee in the ayem, then green beer in the pee-em (food coloring). Cwacked da hail up reading "Is the UFO all fueled up? And does it have a full tank of gas, too? " LOL. Yuppers, gotta have our priorities in order....fill da UFO up wid da likker foist!!! That pic from your br is BEEUTIFUL!!! Such a pretty view to wake up to! Our tulips are blooming, as well as tulip trees, red bud trees......the daffodils and bradford pear trees are winding down and losing blossoms. Can't wait for the Cherry Trees to bloom...we have a nice one, plus downtown the spring is surrounded with Cherry Trees that were given to our city from Japan. I love spring!!!!
Scoobie, on MonKey Dey I have the steroid caudal epidural (in spine), so have to go to hospital and the whole nine yards. Should get a deep restful sleep during the procedure. At least its not soigury, and it SHOULD help my back immensely. What date to you go to the Caymans? I am woiking on 3 trips right now, and it gets SO funcusing!! As I work on the May and June trips, I am reminded of the one next week! AND need to get my clothes figured out. My DD found out they have large lockers at the Amsterdam airport, soooooo maybe I can take a regular carry-on and leave there while we "do" the city....otherwise I was going to try to practice using a backpack! Hope the weather is good that day so we can do the canal tour, etc.

DorK, my daffies, hyacinths and grape hyacinths are already blooming here, and we are up for a storm Sun/Mon. Higher elevations to expect up 2' of snow and we are at an elevation that is up in the air. So we could get hammered, or we might only get 5" or 6".

I didn't drink during chemo becuase it didn't taste good... but back on chardonay! Fun to find this group!!! I too asked my ONC if it caused my cancer... he said no..... I find a good cosmo fun as well as sangria!

Back from my onc appt.... I do really like my onc...he listens and he hears what I have to say......He says I'm doing good....I brought up late/long term side effects of chemo and we talked about that..Told him that I'. way better than when on AI's but not back to the preBC me.....he said you've seen all the right people...only option would be to see neurologist...but everything will come out normal....I function...just not to the level before Dx....that is one reason I only work 3 days/week..also mentioned seeing sleep specialist...and he is in favor of doing whatever it takes to sleep...says that even trouble sleeping one night/week can affect functioning......talked about BHRT and he said you are NOT taking estrogen or progesterone...and I said I know that but we talked about DHEA, testosterone and DIM....he's not too crazy about DHEA as he says it can convert to estrogen.....he's okay wiht testosterone and DIM and estrogen cremes...he says its all about doses and with the estrogen cremes, 2 days/week won't affect estrogen levels but any more will....the BHRT doc I saw said every day for 2 weeks, then twice week.....We talked about sleep (or lack of), cognitive, memory etc.....Had a couple pimple type marks on prophy side that he noticed and then something on BC side that he thought might be a bruise and he took note of that, but was not overly concerned (and I snoticed in the shower this morning)...said let him know if it did not go away.....I do get the pimples every now and again...and I do scratch because there are days that I could just claw my skin out...Labs were drawn...if all is okay they get mailed to me...if a problem they call in a couple days....Onc again said if I want to give tamox or AI's a try again....and I said NOT at all....so he will con't to keep an eye on me every 6 months....Oh he also ordered a bone density as my last one was in Nov 2009....got in for tomorrow!!! So now its just wait for labs....a little nervous as last time one of tumor markers was up a bit (though still WNL)...first time that is ever happened...so hoping its back down to where it always is....this was the first vatiation in numbers....
Need to go work on tax stuff so DH can get started ...only have a month left till they are due!!!

Karen, glad all went fairly well with your appt. Hoping for good news on your blood work as well. Do you really expect to be the same as you were before BC? I don't ever feel like I will be there again, at least not in this life time. So now I'm wondering.........how about the rest of you gals? Are my expectations too low?

Whoo, I needed a good dunking to cool me off! The patient rep I talked to a couple weeks ago about the ER doc's "damned cancer patients always overreacting" comment said she call me by March 5th. I have not gotten a call from her and it's 7 PM. I am not happy. At all. I just hope they don't think that I'm going to drop it and go away, because I am not. NM is now getting very, very angry, and I know people. Time to start doing things in writing.

LOL Dork, Yessssssss show me dat post I did, so mese will beweive youse! Excuse (see I kin use a diff'rent woid) the lg type, BUT I gotta type fast. We have severe thunderstorms, and just now the hail started...ohhhhhh it is hitting LOUD. Had my parents over for dinner, and had to take them home asap as soon as we were thru eating, as we got 2 phone calls about the severe storms being right over us, and the lightning was horrid. OH I hope de hail does not damage stuff but it is hitting de house HARD, and de thunder is LOUD.

Lori, For me, it wasn't bc as much as aging, the past 4 yrs, so I know I will never be like I was 4 yrs ago, but I was one of the "lucky" ones....just got butchered and had boobs taken out, but at least did not have to have chemo, and tx, etc. SO I don't really go back to the before bc days, but b4 the gaining weight and aging days!

There are some very nice, kind and considerate people in this world!!!! I have a favorite and special Brighton bracelet that I wear everyday...but the clasp is known to come undone....well that happened today...except I didn't know I was missing it till I went to take it off at dinner......Talk about being majorly upset....so I try to retrace my steps....had been at Costco earlier in the day........well lo and behold the bracelet fell off put things in the car....I was in an end spot....Some kind person put my bracelet on the little island next to the parking spot....its missing 3 charms from the side that came undown, but the bracelet was there waiting for me....Thank you to the kind person who did this....
Goldie....yes, I do have hopes (or should I say I did) of being the person I was before BC....yes I know BC or any health challenge changes us, but I'm talking about functioning level....my onc was somewhat concerned and said most people get over chemo brain within 18 months, but he knows that I'm not most people!!!!! But I think I am still mouring the loss of me.....I had neuropsych testing done last spring and it was WNL....I knew it would be...but I still can't perform at the level I used to....I know that I'm 6 years older...but this has been going on since Dx.....I'm better than when on AI's.....to look at me, people say look at how much you can do and you do, but its not at the level I did before....and I'm only working 3 days/week....and one of the reasons I don't work full-time, is that I can't do it anymore....I'm 55 (going on 56 in 6 weeks or so) ....I should not be struggling like I do at this age!!!!
