Oh Mimi,  That C-Diff is no fun!  We dealt with that with my Dad and it's nasty stuff.  I have my fingers crossed that your bone scan results will be good!  Hang in there!  You are due for some good news!  Hugs!

Don’t let the opinions of other people determine the image you have of yourself.  There is no need to feel either appreciated or understood.  Be even-minded.  What you think about yourself is everything.  What others think about you has no value at all, unless you choose to give it value.

Mimi- just catching up on the threads, I was off at the Genealogy Conference in Southern IL. (O'Fallon).  I hate that you have had a set-back.  Don't know what C-diff is either, but if it was bad enough to end up in the hospital, YIKES!.

Hope the scan turns out well, keep us updated.  If you need anything, give me a shout. I am here in Bloomington also.

Good evening ladies! Looks like our Indian summer is over. for those who asked C-diff is a bacterial infection that destroys all the good bacteria in your colon, resulting in horrible abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea-which can be really serious if not treated. also very contagious, my room was labeled as contact isolation...not fun. anyway saw MO today and bone scan was clean! All bloodwork and he did a ton was good as well. so thanks gals for your good wishes. hoping to get back to work next week, we will see. Hoping all is good with you and your families. pain free $ peaceful days ahead for you all!

Though you had to deal with the C-diff everything else sounds pretty good Mimi and I hope it stays that way.  We are in full swing of Fall clean-up here as the days start to cool down very considerably from our all too brief Indian Summer.   We are surrounded by about 70 trees on our two acres here where we live so the gathering and blowing of leaves seems like it will never end.

Keep telling myself how good it is for the waistline and diet -- I force myself to eat a bowl of soup but after an all day session in the yard -- I've no appetite -- to tired to find one I guess.

Hope you all had a really beautiful day.  We will be getting cold weather coming out of Canada for the next couple of days....brrr.

    Blessings

YAY Mimi..............so glad the tests were good!  Hopefully you will be back in action very shortly now.

Jackie, we are fighting the leaves, too.  We blow and rake them one day and you can't tell it by that same evening!  It's still easier than trying to move mounds of them at the same time.  I'm not looking forward to the cold weather that's on its way.  We're getting a gentle rain here tonight.

We are having that rain as well here.  Much cooler tomorrow.  We are still fighting the leaves.  Dh's back-pack blower bit the dust so he is using my electric one ( in my humble opinion, just as good as the back pack ) and still going strong through, the now 4th. back pack wearing out.  Anyway -- that means I'm mainly raking which is pretty strenuous since we have two acres to clean.  Don't know why I'm still sitting up straight right now.

Hoping to make super dent tomorrow.  I'd love to have a no rake day in my near future.

great article in the Trib today about woman in South Elgin working with women getting bmx's in the area.  Her Theta Theta shirts give a symbol over each boob that look like they do after mastectomy. She gives encouragement and support. Way to go!  She might be lurking on the boards, I dont know.

I am from the northern suburbs of IL, Gurnee.  I was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma with Lobular Features.  I am 41, mom of two boys.  I had a clear mammogram in May.  I felt a lump on Sept 29th.  I would love to learn if there are others in my area!!!  I have my second round of chemo in Monday.  Chemo, then surgery...

So glad you found us -- not sure exactly about where all the northern ladies are, but I would bet there are a few or more in your area.  In fact, there are many, many in the general Chicago suburbs.  Hopefully, though it is sometimes quiet here -- others will look in and find your note.

We'd love it so if no one ever had to come here again, but until then, the door is always open.  The women here are wonderful, caring people, full of knowledge and great suggestions.  I am about 4 hours south of Chicago and I have been here for a long time so others are much sharper than me with information for you.

Keep coming back and looking -- there are a lot who read here but don't post as much as they once did.  Someone will have the information you want.

I put in a quote every day so you will see my name here a lot.

    See you later, then.

    Blessings

Hi Lisamomof2 I'm in the city but there are others out your way…not that Gurnee is that far from Chicago. Nice you are getting chemo first. This way they can tell if it is working. I had surgery first so I'll never know for sure.

Hi Lisamomof2.....I'm sure that some more of the gals in your area will pop on!  We're all here to help each other and there are several Chicago area gals on this thread.

What type of chemo are you doing and how many rounds are scheduled before your surgery?

    Hugs to you!

    Lisamomof2,

Glad you found BCO and the IL ladies. This is a great group of gals with a wealth of experience, knowledge, and support.

I live in Gurnee as does at least one other that I know of. There are a couple others close by too - but you will find on the boards that the distance diminishes in the forum with all the other posters!

I'm heading towards 3 years out from diagnosis in a few weeks. My medical team is in Park Ridge connected with Advocate Lutheran.

Hope your second chemo goes well tomorrow. Let us know a little about your chemo, your team, yourself - as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

Chances are we've been in the same place at the same time over the years here in the Village. Who knows - we might find out that we know each other in some way.

Praying that you have a peaceful evening, a good night's sleep and minimal side effects.

Hi Karen 1971 -- Glad to meet you but sorry for the reason.  It sounds like you have a lot of answers already and that is good.  Hopefully Tues. you will get more and be able to start figuring out just what you will need to do to deal with your diagnosis.  Most everyone here can help you with lots of information, questions to ask, tips on how to work with your txs. and all are good at hand-holding and lots of support.

Hope you will come back often -- we are here for you.

    Blessings

Hi Lisamomof2 and Karen----sorry you had to get this diagnosis, but you have found a great resource here.  The Threads and people who I've never met face to face here are wonderful!.  Nobody understands like someone who has been down the same path....  Welcome!

When we finally give up the struggle to find fulfillment outside of ourselves, we have nowhere to go but within. It is at this moment of total surrender that the light begins to dawn. We expect to hit bottom, but instead we fall through a trap door into a bright new world. We have rediscovered the world of our spirit.

    for my beautiful friends today:

We’ve been invited to participate in this life, to be present, one to another, and that’s all that’s expected of us.  Our successes may bring us personal joy, but our value as persons lies only in our being.  But living fully is more than just making an appearance, here, today.  It’s celebrating our oneness—our ties to one another—our need for one another’s presence to complete our own.  And we can be celebrants only when we’re involved and fully focused on the experience.  We capture life’s gifts, its riches, when we are intent on the moment’s fullness.  We miss what we most need when our hearts and minds are distracted.

Patience will see us through a troubled time, but how much easier it is to savor patience when it’s accompanied by faith.  We can know and fully trust that all is well—that our lives are on course—that individual experiences are exactly what we need at this moment.  However, faith makes the knowing easier and the softness of the patient heart eases us through the times of challenge and uncertainty.

Remember that the right temperature in a home is maintained by warm hearts, not by icy glares, lukewarm enthusiasm, or hotheads!  Your attitude can set the tone for your whole family.  So use whatever scraps you can find—even if, in the beginning, it’s just the scrap of a smile—and make a gift of whatever you have.  Then watch the gifts come back to you.

BRRR  my house is warm enough, I 'm the only one in it since the cat died, but the WIND IS REALLY HOWLING today.  Of course, the day AFTER I rake all my Leaves to the curb  (blower actually with a tarp to drag them on) and of course, they have NOT been collected by the City so they will be back on my lawn soon as the wind shifts directions, not the mention more falling from the trees----3  massive Oaks 2 Maple, 1 redbud, 1 dogwood and a white star magnolia.... Those durn Oakskeep their leaves until Christmas sometimes.....

Welcome Karen.  Tell us more about yourself and come back often.  The awesome ladies on this thread will help you get through this journey.  I used to be quite familiar with your area.  I was raised in Lyndon (Sterling-Rock Falls area) and we used to come over there for a fantastic buffet.  I can't even remember the name of the establishment now but I know it is gone because I'm talking about those days back in the dark ages!  :-)

Redheaded...I am so sorry to hear about your cat.  :-(    I think we should try to fnd a day between now and the holidays when we can do lunch!

I hope everyone is doing well.  I can't say that I'm excited about the colder temps and the weather that is sure to find us in the near future.

    Hugs to all of you!
