Lovely morning here, but we will be having rain by tomorrow the weather-man says. Well, we have to have some ( but we are getting a fair amt. as of late ) so I think I can't really complain. It does seem though that this month seems more like April showers month.
I hope your are all please with your tapestries. I'm just happy that I can discern it all and be content to see how life goes.
Blessings

Expressing gratitude ignites the light within us and is a sure path to joy. Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations of energy we can create, it's free, and anyone can give it. It can be as simple as being thankful for soup, being thankful one can see, walk, wiggle a finger, or tap to a beat. One can be grateful for happy children, good neighbors, good luck, and simply being alive. . . . Part of the journey toward joy involves not waiting around for trouble, but being continuously aware of our blessings.

I expect to pass through this world but once.
Any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show to my fellow-creature,
let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Gosh it's been quiet around here. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer temps hidden between the rains. I continue to read your posts each day, Jackie. Thanks for keeping the thread going.
I got most of my pots planted today before the rain hit. The sun is out now but it's too muddy to finish the job so hopefully tomorrow will be better. (I am no master-gardener, Redhead!)
I still like to play in the dirt and attempt to create a visually pleasing site!

Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight. When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another. -Helen Keller

Very quiet here but sometimes quiet or has been said -- no news is good news. Just sitting here hoping all are well, not having any great troubles or distress and that you are treating all those you meet with grace and dignity. Life has its moments but so many can be so nice and so wonderful -- especially those we stumble upon very much un-aware at first.
We are waiting for some rain here, but I'm just thinking to make it a good productive day no matter what happens.
Blessings,
Jackie

There is no such thing as can’t, only won’t. If you’re qualified, all it takes is a burning desire to accomplish, to make a change. Go forward, go backward. Whatever it takes! But you can’t blame other people or society in general. It all comes from your mind. When we do the impossible we realize that we are special people. -Jan Ashford

Each day we can wake up and choose to see life as a gift and to be
fully present in that day. We cannot always control the outcome,
but we can control our reactions. Each day we can bring all we have
to that day, choosing to live it fully, seeing it as a great gift.

Good morning,
Just wanted to say, I'm so glad that many still find a little awaiting them in the quotes I love to leave. For me the darkest of days can brighten if I read something that stirs good feelings in me. It is my joy, my deep love to do what I can to pass it on to others.
Blessings,
Jackie

Hi. I was diagnosed in 2008 with Stage 2b went through tx (bilateral masectomy, radiation, tamoxifen, and chemo). Tx free for 1 1/2 years and then I had a seizure in January 2015. Mets to the brain, bones, lymph nodes.....it has been such a terrible ride. I am so frustrated and angry that I have to go through this again.

Julie, I am sorry you have to experience this. I pray that you will be restored to health, and thatthe doctors will be able to use their knowledge of science and medicine to your benefit.

Jule I too am so sorry that you must travel this path again. I'm positive I would feel frustrated, angry and discouraged as well to have to go through a second time. There are many good txs. and I will send lots of care and hope and positive energies your way with the hope that just the right combinations of txs will have you feeling and functioning really, really well soon.
Blessings

Jule,
I'm so sorry you are back here because of mets and living out what we all fear. It takes my breath away when I hear a journey like yours.
A few of our ladies with mets post here. The rest of us are here for you too. I'm in Chicago. Where are you from?

Jule You have every right to be mad and frustrated. Vent all you want. We are listening and support you.
BTW I too am in Chicago. Where are you?0 -
All mistakes are lessons to be learned and challenges to overcome, and they come in the form of objects, events and people.

( little note ) the above author I ? think loves quotes too and puts them under her name. Because I believe the above quote to be correct, I wanted to use it today. I do think the "negative" often is the very thing that inspires huge growth in and for us. Maybe not the most pleasant of things, but when you think about it --- you learn most when you have to suffer a little and really work for it. You would not learn near so much if all came easy and effortless -- if there were no worry, hardship, heartbreak or big upsets. It is often hard to be grateful for the things that go wrong in life -- but they are ultimately the very things that make things so right later on.

In Chicago as well. I suspect when my tx work out I will feel better and less frustrated. In the process of weaning over steroids as I had this after my seizure which then led to dx of brain mets, wbr, totally taken off steroids, and then feeling horrible for about 4 weeks. Dr put me back on steroids which helped and am now starting the reduction process again. Has anyone had any great recommendations related to steroid reduction?

Julie, So sorry to hear that you are fighting this demon again. Sending hugs your way. You have every rright to be frustsrated. I'm sorry that I can't help you any with the steroid reduction process as I've never had to have them for extended periods. I'm sure somebody will pop on soon and help you out with your question.

Hi all!
I step back into this wonderful place once every month or so. So sorry Jule that you are doing this again. I have not had the steroid reduction. Steroids are so powerful. My husband takes steroids (not as much as you do for brain mets) for his lymphoma and they truly affect his mood and his physical well-being so I know you are up and down and over and sometimes feeling just out.I hope the next reduction is easier on your system.
I live in Northbrook and my doctors are in Evanston. I know how your husband is feeling as I know how scary it is to have a spouse facing a serious disease. I really think once you get the plan going, both of you will feel better. To be honest, the food from friends may just be too much right now....like what do you do with all those casseroles? Take care!

One of the worst features about worrying is that it destroys our ability to concentrate. When we worry, our minds jump here and there and everywhere, and we lose all power of decision. However, when we force ourselves to face the worst and accept it mentally, we then eliminate all these vague imaginings and put ourselves in a position in which we are able to concentrate on our problem. -Willis H. Carrier

Lovely morning here though rain is coming and may fill ( to whatever extent ) the better part of the coming week. Just a little word about the quote -- not quite as flowing and flowery as I usually put in -- especially for a Sunday, but so practical. I have found for such a long time that until I REALLY take something in and accept it, I can be often almost powerless to deal fruitfully with it. It is often so difficult to accept some things -- there are so many of them NO one in their right mind would welcome. But once you open the door --- cogent answers seem to almost line themselves up for you and you can handle the problem and move on. I've had to practice being ok with lots of things -- like the fact that my sister could not feel love for me AT all. The moment I took that in and gave it my own personal breath of life -- I knew what to do to make it stop haunting me.
Just wanted to share that in case anyone is having any issue like that.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.
Blessings,
Jackie

Waving HI to all of those who have checked in during the past few days. It is good to see a post from you. You have been missed! Jackie keeps the thread alive everyday with her quotes. If you are an Illinois gal who has been reading and lurking, jump right in and join us. Some of us have formed strong bonds throughout the years as we've struggled to get through our journeys, cope with the emotions, and draw strength from each other.
Everyone enjoy your holiday! It looks like we're going to get a bit wet later today and tomorrow which may alter a few holiday plans.
Hugs to all of you!

So happy to see people that have stayed on this site over the years - Jackie and Ritajean for sure. How wonderful that you have continued to motivate and inspire over the years. I would check in intermittently but so wanted to be done with BC.....In for the long haul now:)

Julie, I just checked --- I really had not thought about how long it has been for me. I was originally diagnosed in Sept. 2007 and a short time later found the ILLINOIS THREAD so it has been a long time now. About 8 yrs. Oddly enough, before I was dxed I really didn't know anyone directly who had been. Anyone I might have known was so far out on the fringes that it wasn't touching me. Then, within the first yr. of dx it seemed I went from zero to roomful or more in no time. Now I am sometimes surprised when I talk to people who haven't experienced it in some way -- themselves or a close family member some kind of cancer.
I hope and pray soon ( just like I'm sure everyone does ) that some reasonable answers and treatments will come along to not only identify those at risk, but as well, those who would benefit as much from less tx. and yes......to find answers to help address Stage IV as well. I want it all and so hope and pray that finding answers for the beginning stages will quickly lead to answers for ALL stages. I am grateful for what has been found out to date and that the txs. have gotten much, much better. I have just felt for a long time that we aren't as far along for all the billions of dollars that have been poured into this problem.

I read every day for my daily dose of inspiration! I will have another chemo on Thursday then will be half way done. The chemo doesn't give me too much trouble but the side effects are taking over...they are not terrible but I'm already tired of them!
