my car was nice and clean, I went to the lake to walk the other day when I came back it looked likek 5-6 birds dumped on the drivers side door while I was exercising......

Kater -- so many things happen and some are so crisp and clear. I think many people use the word coincidence or something like it when things happen and it is not truly clear where their "help" or "revelation" may have originated. I so recall the day I was driving towards home in Santa Barbara, California. Very familiar street and just short of a full block to go --- I heard ( only in my head ) slow way down. Well, I felt a mite silly, but I've always tended to be cautious -- so I did it. Just as I was approaching the intersection the car to my right ran the stop-sign. I was easily able to stop and 'save' myself from an accident. This was VERY crisp and clear.
In looking back -- a series of events took place -- the biggest of which we lost our Insurance and I ended up getting full medical care for my cancer through the V.A. They sent me out to a very wonderful Dr. Dr. Marsha Ryan. When we first met in her office and she left to retrieve some papers -- Dh and I both looked at each other and almost in unison said -- Oh -- she has the healer's aura. Now what startles me a bit --- before my Ins. went, the Dr. I had was ok -- but there was no 'aura' at all. So, as I see it, the Universe got me to someone who was blessed with it. Not only did she assist the Universe in a magnificent way -- she also found the second much more aggressive tumor ( in the same breast ) that no one realized was there. Of course I credit her ( I see it as well deserved ) with saving my life. Somehow, I don't think anyone in the previous medical group would have been as persistent as she in checking the area where the much smaller and slow growing Papillary tumor was located -- which was the known tumor. Dr. Ryan refused to take credit for this, endearing herself to me all the more. This situation was not quite as crisp -- lots of somewhat un-related things having to happen along the way.
We are all much smarter than we know -- and better yet if we could heavily nudge our personal intuitiveness would have sufficient answers for nearly every situation. I often use the word Universe, but there are guides, guardians and others. We are never truly alone -- even when on occasion a strong feeling of loneliness gives us a sense that we are. In these later yrs. after all of what I've seen and experienced, I have great faith that it is all VERY real ---maybe not to a segment of society, but it certainly is for me because I have been able to live it. It is a huge comfort to me and I quit asking why me a long time ago. It doesn't matter. It is a light for myself that I am able to carry and that is all I need to know about that. When the Universe has a "gift" for you, it is wise to take it.
Kater, your guide knew exactly what you were going to do and took whatever method they could to get your attention and 'save' you.

Redheaded,
It must be the time of yr. Not only has my car been somewhat 'defiled' by the birds, but my big glass storm door on my deck ( that we use all the time ) right at the bottom. It must have been a huge bird or it went ker-splat from a long way up. Maybe they will all settle down when we are closer to the end of Spring. Sure hope so.

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. -Alfred D'Souza

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. ~ Buddha

Your worth is not measured by what you do. Nor can you calculate the degree of your worthiness by what you possess. Your worth is a function of your being. Your being is colorless, genderless, and believe it or not, ageless. Your being is worthy of honor, admiration, and respect. It is a vessel of love and light. It is a beacon of inspiration. -Iyanla Vanzant

Rain coming on the week-end ( maybe starting Thurs. ) it is said. We are having temps. in the 80's. Have put the screen door in and gotten out all the fans. Way too early and nice for a/c but we do need some good air circulation. Trees are fairly filled in now and the grass ( for now ) is growing fast. Every season is my favorite one as I missed them all so much the 25 yrs. I lived in southern California, but I really do enjoy the Spring/Summer season --- nature helping the woods return to life after the winter. The sights, sounds, smells ( not the allergies ) just seem to always heavily re-charge my batteries too.

I admit to having turned on the ac. Low (high?) but just enough to keep the air from getting humid. Im trying an odd combination of windows open a bit, and some ac.

I'm with you, Jackie. I love the spring and summer. We haven't had to put on the AC yet but we get a good breeze here in our little wooded area. I need to get out tomorrow morning and do some weeding before they take over the flowers! Hope everyone is having a good week.

I couldn't sleep a wink without the AC if it gets over 74 upstairs. Even if it is only 75 outside, it will get hot upstairs. I rarely need my downstairs AC on. Plus, my daughter has major allergies so opening windows is kind of a no no this time of year.

My Jack in the pulpits are up!!! I have been patiently trying to get them to spread and each fall I take the seeds and plant them, but they are very slow. this year I have a nice sturdy one outside the group!!!!!! HOORAY! and several of the tiny seedlings from last year are a little bit bigger!
And my yellow azalea is blooming---its been in the ground fo r three years--was blooming when I bought it, then didn't bloom, then last year tried to bloom in November after a frost....Maybe it's timeclock is finally set correct!

Good morning ladies! I have been reading but not posting much. Redheaded-congrats on your flowers! It is so nice to see everything green and in bloom again. I haven't turned on the A/C yet, I love open windows and fresh air in the house, but I know I will have to soon enough.
Had my CT scan on Wednesday-they looked at everything, chest, abdomen & pelvis to see if the lesions are staying stable. Will see Dr. Migas on Thursday to get results. This time the oral contrast did not sit well...kind of sketchy here at work that afternoon . I have made the decision to have back surgery on May 20th. My spinal canal is completely compressed at the bottom which is causing severe butt/leg pain when I walk and one disc is slipping over the other one causing severe lower back pain so I guess it is time. Really not looking forward to more IVs, surgery and being in the hospital, but I just want to be able to walk without pain. After all I have a vacation planned for late July that I need to be able to go on! We did have to put our old pup to sleep a couple of weeks ago-he was in really bad shape, but lived nearly 16 years, rescued from the shelter and he had a good life. Still very sad and strange to come home and he not be there...
Hope you all have a great weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day. Wishing all a peaceful, painfree day.
Mimi

We all have choices to make about the quality of our presence and how we will affect those around us. The quality of our presence is dependent not on what we can or cannot “do” but on the essence of who we are and how we relate to others. Becoming the presence we would like to be is an intentional work. It grows while we make peace with ourselves and with life. -Sallirae Henderson

Mimi, hoping your visit to Dr. Migas goes well. It is difficult after our home companions must leave us to "see" and "feel" home without them in it. Whether they are noisy or not when we come home, just knowing they are there gives home a dimension that becomes somewhat forlorn when they are not. These are things we have to do and in time it gets to be ok, but we still have to go through an un-welcome and lonely time to get there. Hope the adjustment does not take too long.
Your back/spine issues sound extraordinarily painful and I can see getting it handled before your vacation. Hoping all goes well and you will be in good form when vacation time arrives.
Here waiting for rain. I will work tonight -- and thinking that could well be when it starts. I rather like going in on Friday as that will mean I'm off until Tues. I don't mind three day week-ends that include Monday.
Though I'll likely say it again I too hope all have a wonderful Mother's Day.
Blessings

There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout: This
is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel
the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package.
Take me. . . or leave me. Accept me--or walk away! Do not try
to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don't fit your
idea of who I should be and don't try to change me to fit your mold.
If I need to change, I alone will make that decision. When you are
strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad--you will be
amazed at the opportunities that life presents you.Stacey Charter

Morning,
Lots of storms here and around us. Ours ( thank goodness ) were mainly just a lot of rain. More will come. Gloomy and overcast this morning, but we actually did need some rain and it settles the pollen fairly well. I hope you will all be just fine and praying for those west of us.
Blessings

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE MOTHERS!
Redhead, I need your green thumb. I guess I am no good with azalea. Mine only has some green foliage near the ground. It doesn't look like it is going to do much this year again....and darn it, they are so pretty!
I have been weeding, weeding, weeding....and I'm barely keeping up with the weeds. I can only weed for about an hour anymoe before my back tightens up, so I quiit and go do something else for awhile and then head back out to the flower beds to weed some more.
Mimi...ouch! Back aches of any kind are no fun. So sorry that you'll have to undergo another surgery to take care of the problem but sure understand the need to live without all that pain. Hugs to you!
The sun is shining brightly. I am sorry that I didn't get my act together this year and sign up for the Susan G. Komen walk in Peoria which is today. My friend, Mary Jane and her girls are walking in it. I did it in the past and then got disgusted with them over the Planned Parenthood situation and quit. Now that issue is resolved, I need to get back out there an walk for our cure.
Everyone enjoy your weekend.
We are driving to Rock Falls tomorrow to put flowers on Mom's grave and then stopping at the riverboat casino for their wonderful Mother's Day buffet.

Happy Mothers day to all, even if your "kids" are like mine and have four legs.....
Mimi-makes my back hurt reading about yours. Good Luck with all you have on your plate. Do you think the aromatase inhibitors have anything to do with your back problems?
I will always wonder if my wrist would have broke if I hadn't been on them....even though it was a traumatic fall, I will have my doubts......

Redhead-I had so much pain with the AIs that we switched to Tamoxifen. Dr. Migas said I was in the like 1% of women who can't take the AIs...so much fun to be special ha ha! I have had back issues for years, another legacy from my mother...and it has just come to the point I can't function anymore like I want to.
Hope you ladies had a wonderful Mother's Day.
Wishing a peaceful, painfree day to all.

When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present--love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure--the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth. -Sarah Ban Breathnach

Had a surprise for Mother's day---My best friend from Ohio called me at 4:30 and she was in Champaign and drove over to visit me. We went for Pizza and then we went to the Cemeteries and then we spent two hours visiting with my Dad---he thinks of her as a second daughter. Her mom passed away on Mother's day the day after we graduated from College, and my mom passed away the day after MOther's day 2 years ago.....so we have a common bond this time of the year.
Nothing like old friends.........NOTHING!

Jackie, I needed your quote today with my mother gone and my son not here for the day. I did find myself a bit down and WAS focusing on what I didn't have instead of looking at all the good in my life. Thanks for inserting it at just the right time.
Redheaded....so glad your friend surprised you and that you had a good day. You are right. There is nothing like an old friend. They are just like antiques. The older they are, the more preciouos they become.
I have often wondered about all the broken bones that happen when on the AI's, too. I know we are all getting older each day but there does seem to be a high correlation that makes one wonder.
I hope that everyone had a nice Mother's Day! My fur babies gave me a new fishing pole! :-) We drove to Rock Falls and put flowers on my mother's grave. The cemetery was really decorated and I felt sad when I saw that there was nothing there for her but we took care of that matter. Then we came back through the Quad Cities and stopped at Jumer's for the Mother's Day Buffet. All in all, it was a nice day.

While holding positive thoughts and emotions is advantageous, positive
thinking itself is not "Hallmark Card thinking." It's really an ongoing
awareness that all truly is well with the world, with life, and with oneself.
It's also a commitment not to mindlessly pass on fears but to bring
positive energy, images, ideas, and feelings into the lives of others,
to help them attune to the wellness at the heart of the world.David Spangler

As I look back at the entire tapestry of my life, I can see from the perspective of the present moment that every aspect of my life was necessary and perfect. Each step eventually led to a higher place, even though these steps often felt like obstacles or painful experiences.
