Sunshine in central Illinois! YEA! My mood is much better today! :-)
Tonight out golf group is going out to dinner for our Christmas celebration and then going to the Center for the Performing Arts for a Christmas show. How I love sharing special times with special people during the Christmas season!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I had the MRI guided biopsy today. Boy, was it more intense than the u/s guided on. I'm glad it's behind me. As soon as the pathology is back, I'm putting this whole business out of my mind until after the Holidays. I see the surgeon again on 1/4.
@Lago, I tried to used Lago as my user name as it is part of my last name, but it was already taken. Funny, that we live in the same area.

When you commit yourself to living love, you feel at peace
with yourself because you are at harmony with the flow
of life. Viewing life from the highest perspective, you feel
confident and secure. You realize that no matter how
things may appear, you are loved and protected. You
know you are one with God, and you bring your
peace with you wherever you go. You're not
looking for love, but for opportunities to love.

Welcome Amy! I also live in the western suburbs, in Downers Grove. I was diagnosed at 47 and am finding it hard to believe that 5 years have gone by, but they have. Have you found Wellness House in Hinsdale yet? I can't speak more highly of them.... I found solace there, once I worked up the nerve to enter the building. --Lisa

Hi Lisa,
My nurse navigator told me about Wellness House. I'll look into it. I got the best news today. My therapist is returning from Maternity leave. I haven't see her since Sept. and I really wished I could have talked to her when I was dx. The other bit of good news I got today is I tested Neg. for the BRCA gene. Very happy about that!
I live in Glen Ellyn, so very close to you

Hello to everyone!
I am breathing a big sigh of relief right now. Just got the news that the most recent test for high calcium in the liver was back into the normal range. Have to admit that I was really concerned about this and am glad that I can now enjoy the holiday season without worry. Merry Chrsitmas to me! I'm sure thsi will be my most valued gift this holiday season!
I am done with my shopping and wrapping. I need to box up all the packages in the big plastic tubs so Dave can bring them to eastern Tennessee and pack my bags to fly out on Monday.
Things seem so much better now!
Hugs to all of you! I am taking my laptop so I'll probably be back on before Christmas.

So glad you will be able to enjoy your holiday to the max now......the Big C sure gets our antenna jacked up on high alert over the smallest things---before cancer you wouldn't have stressed at all probably. Hope your holiday and everyone else's is bright with joy and warm with love.

According to the law of Dharma, you have a unique talent and a unique way of expressing it. There is something that you can do better than anyone else in the whole world--and for every unique talent and unique expression of that talent, there are also unique needs. When these needs are matched with the creative expression of your talent, that is the spark that creates affluence. Expressing your talents to fulfill needs creates unlimited wealth and abundance. -Deepak Chopra

Looking forward to port placement on Christmas Eve Eve. Any words of advice for those who have already had theirs?
0 -
Think about the placement, in particular for your bra strap. Mine was on the left so the seatbelt was in the way of mine, but there isn't much wiggle room for the port.
You'll come out of surgery rather bruised, but it won't be that painful after a week. It definitely helps with chemo, but I was glad when it could come out.

Hi, my name is Pam. I live in WI near Kenosha. I am from IL but moved here about 10 years ago. Hard to believe it's been so long lol. I still spend a lot of time in IL & my family is there. I am in the process of trying to put together a support group probably, but not limited to the Kenosha area. Maybe alternate meeting areas depending on members wishes. I hope to meet monthly or every couple of months. I'm forming it for support, information & friendship. It can be formed any way since it isn't formed yet. I'd like it to be a casual group where everyone can be open & hopefully get their needs met. If anyone is interested, has questions or advice for me please feel free to message me. Thanks & feel well.

Hi Pam,
Welcome to our group.
Hopefully someone from the northern Chicago suburbs will drop in. On the south side of Chicago, I'm a little far from you.

Hi Doxie. Yes you're far. This site has so many topics etc it's hard to get around. I just found out there's an IL board. Is this it?

Yes. This is the only one I know of.

Louisap My brother in law & sister in law live up near you (I think). Was just up that way on Thanksgiving.
britheal I had no issue with my port placement 5 weeks post my BMX with nodes on both sides. When the surgeon came to see how I was doing after surgery he was surprised to see me already dressed and waiting in a chair. I hope you have the same experience. It will be a little sore and strange at first. Took me months to get used to it. I kept mine in for 2 years. Took months to get used to it being gone too

Seems from all 'descriptions' I've been able to garner we will have a warm California Christmas. Not a total surprise, but I've enjoyed ( most yrs. anyway ) a White Christmas with at least a bit of snow -- if only here and there. Well, we don't get to pick and hopefully this will make some of the traveling that goes on at this time a little safer and much more comfortable when out of doors. In some ways I am glad. I bought a ham to bake but my cousin wants us to come to her house so we will keep the ham frozen for some time in the New Yr. Was not a real big one so it should be easy to use up when the time comes.
Hope you are all going to have a delightful Sunday.
Blessings,
Jackie

Finally have my surgery scheduled. It's on 1/5. I chose lumpectomy + rads. The first biopsy confirmed IDC and DCIS. The results from the 2nd biopsy (mri) were LCIS, plus a bunch of other abnormal cell acronyms. So, that tissue will come out, as well. i think the total tissue to be removed will be 3.5cm. I'm glad to moving ahead. Now I just need clean margins and nodes!
I'm officially in Christmas mode. No more cancer thought until after the holiday. We're stealing away to FL for a few days after Christmas. I"m looking forward to relaxing on a beach.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Amy,
Spending time on a Florida beach sounds like the perfect way to chill before you face the BC treatment circus. Enjoy and welcome pleasant thoughts only.

After all those years as a woman hearing 'not thin enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, not this enough, not that enough,' almost overnight I woke up one morning and thought, 'I'm enough'.

Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself. Og Mandino

Lovely greeting card. Is it old or simply illustrated to look so?
