The best thing about this very minute is your ability to recognize the possibilities in it.  Any fool can count the seeds in an apple.  But only God can count the apples in a seed.  There is something in every problem that holds potential for something better.  Do you want a lifetime of happy right nows?  The little choice this moment to see the beauty in what appears ugly, frustrating, or disgraceful will change everything.    -Barbara Johnson

Your success and happiness lie in you.  External conditions are the accidents of life, its outer trappings.  The great, enduring realities are love of service.  Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow.  Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulty.

If we keep this question in mind while planning our days, we will
see that we actually have countless opportunities to add to our
life force.  Being around people and places we love and doing
things that give us deep satisfaction, taking time to digest the
events in our lives, being less busy, telling the truth, laughing
a lot, eating right, exercising regularly, having long talks with
those we love--these are among the best ways to nourish our
vitality.  Our life force thrives when we are
completely engaged in the present moment.

Do we need to make a special effort to enjoy the beauty of the blue sky?
Do we have to practice to be able to enjoy it?  No, we just enjoy it.
Each second, each minute of our lives can be like this.
Wherever we are, any time, we have the capacity to enjoy the sunshine,
the presence of each other, even the sensation of our breathing.
We don't need to go to China to enjoy the blue sky.
We don't have to travel into the future to enjoy our breathing.
We can be in touch with these things right now.

    Thich Nhat Hanh

Looking for and enjoying beauty is another way to nourish the soul.  The universe is in the habit of making beauty.  There are flowers and songs, snowflakes and smiles, acts of great courage, laughter between friends, a job well done, the smell of fresh-baked bread.  Beauty is everywhere, ready to nourish the soul.  It must only be seen to begin helping us.

I have been gone. Had bad computer woes and had to wait for a boat from China with some parts. The new one needed was defective on arrival. I now have not a part, but a new computer that my husband bought. He didn't like it and gave it to me.

Worked out nice (if somewhat late) for me.

    One of my all-time favorites:

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly
on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish
thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort--the inexpressible
comfort of feeling safe with a person--having neither to weigh thoughts
nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff
and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep
what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.

Friend do it this way--that is, whatever you do in life,
do the very best you can with both your heart and mind.
And if you do it that way, the Power Of The Universe
will come to your assistance, if your heart and mind are in unity.
When one sits in the Hoop Of The People,
    one must be responsible because
    All of Creation is related.
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all.
And the honor of one is the honor of all.
And whatever we do affects everything in the Universe.
If you do it that way--that is, if you
truly join your heart and mind as One--
whatever you ask for, that's the way it's going to be.

The value of all service lies in the spirit in which you serve and
not in the importance or magnitude of the service.  Even
the lowliest task or deed is made holy, joyous,
and prosperous when it is filled with love.

The mere thought of walking outdoors on a brilliant golden-blue day
causes fire-works of delight to go off in most people’s psyche. It gives
one an instant feeling of happiness and that is meditation! We are not
only in touch, at that moment, with the physical splendour of nature,
but also with the beauty of merging our own spiritual nature with it.

If things are tough, remember that every flower had to go through a whole lot
of dirt to get there.  So do not grieve about a bitter experience.  The present
is slipping by while you are regretting the past and worrying about the future.
Regret will not prevent tomorrow’s sorrows; it will only rob today of its strength.

Hopeful2020 - there is likely a thread devoted solely to recurrences. I post a quote every day here, but there generally are no other entries. Many or the original posters have said they come now only to read the posts.

Wishing you lots of hope and wellness in your journey.

It's not the length but the quality of life that matters to me. It has always been important to me to write one sentence at a time, to live every day as if it were my last and judge it in those terms, often badly, not because it lacked grand gesture or grand passion but because it failed in the daily virtues of self-discipline, kindness, and laughter. It is love, very ordinary, human love, and not fear, which is the good teacher and the wisest judge. Jane Rule

Until you are committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,
ineffectiveness.  It is true:  the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves.  All sorts of things begin to happen to help you
that would never otherwise have occurred.  A whole stream of events
issues from that decision, raising in your favor all manner of unforeseen
incidents, meetings and material assistance, which you couldn't
have dreamt would come your way.

    Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
    In its brief course
Lie all the truths and realities of your existence:
    The bliss of growth
    The glory of action
    The splendor of achievement,
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday
    a dream of happiness
And tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation of the dawn.

Gentleness means recognizing that the world around us is fragile, especially
other people. It is recognizing our own capacity to do harm and choosing
to be tender, soft-spoken, soft-hearted, and careful. When we are gentle
we touch the world in ways that protect and preserve it.  Being gentle
doesn't mean being weak; gentleness can be firm, even powerful. To behave
in a gentle manner requires that we stay centered in our own values and
strength -- that we are active rather than reactive. Coming from this center,
a gentle word or touch can channel our energy into healing or making peace.

The posture we take while performing our tasks today, and the attitude we project toward those who cross our path, will emphatically influence what the day brings.  No one else can decide for any of us what we'll feel or think about the day.  We have the power to be as content or as discontent as we make up our minds to be.

Magic exists.  Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars?  Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic.  It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.

The search for security is often marked by the collection of things.
They seem a fortress against need.  We get caught up in the belief
that "more is better."  Piles of objects often take more time to clean
and store than they save.  We exhaust ourselves taking care of our
    property and social roles.
How many things do you have stored away for the future, like
squirrels with their nuts?  If you were asked to give away one half,
what would you keep?  When you dream about a fire, what do you
rescue in the house?  Make a list.  Figure out what is weight and what
helps you float. . . . When you let go of the constant urge to acquire,
what you truly need begins to flow into your life.

Happiness is that brief sigh of a moment that delivers a glow of peace and serenity.  Happiness is that tiny point of a feeling in our chest that radiates itself a million times throughout our being.  Happiness is that "pause" that refreshes our spirit, allowing us to plunge back into the rigors of our lives with renewed vigor.  Happiness is that precise moment that allows us to experience--even if briefly--that we are a part of a vastness our minds will never comprehend.  Don't knock the brevity of happiness.  Rejoice in its existence.
