This is the "peep" winner from the Chicago Trib....please check out all the activities such as hot stone therapy and mud baths!  Reminds me of you gals at the spa yesterday!

Jackie....I guess you know now that you just became our official "quote of the day" gal!

Blackjack...thanks for the updates on Leesa.  Glad she has some "peeps" with her!

Off to do some drywall repair over the fireplace.  Love this new pink spackle....you can see exactly where you put it and it turns white when cured so you know exactly when it's dry enuf to sand.  Neat!

Just checking in quick to send good energy to Leesa today.  Love you!

Had 1st rad yesterday; one down 30+ to go......

They gave me TWO TINY TUBES of Aquaphor - is that all you guys used?  I felt like slathering it all over yesterday because I'm so paranoid, but TWO TINY TUBES?

Calypso- only two small tubes??  That ain't right!   I was given a full retail jar of the Aquaphor, plus two LARGE tubes of BARD Special Care Cream.  http://tinyurl.com/yt3h9k

And when I had my weekly follow-up, my RADS nurse was always asking if I needed more!

I mostly used the BARD and seldom used the Aquaphor because the A was so sticky and greasy.

Calypso, 1 down 30 to go... I have 16 down and 17more to go....it is going pretty quickly.  I use a 100% Aloe Vera gel that my doctor recomended  3 times a day and so far so good...I am getting a little tanned, but that is it.

Has anyone been to The Wellness Place in Palatine?  They are a cancer resource center that is FREE to help those living with cancer.   Their website is  www.wellnessplace.org

Thanks, JanClare.  I will buy some BARD pronto.  As you know, I have been sort of paranoid about doing radiation, and I could be imagining it, but my boob already looks a little pink.....

I was given LARGE tube of calming lotion for rads saved the small tube of aquaphor for travel! Plus was told it worked great on chapped lips so keep it in purse. Was told that lumpectomy gals had less prob w/ rads. I burnt, but "hydrogel" pads were a life saver!

Blackjack don't know why you don't want a pic for your avatar ...

but if you really want a Palm tree I'll find somethingWink  GD saw lunch pics asked if you all were models? "Well they are all beautiful enough to be "older" models!!" LOL (well she's 15!)

Leesa you are in our thoughts and prayers! ((((HUGS))))

Back to work will post more later

    Hi Calypso,

How are you doing? Glad to see that you are doing rads. I used Aquaphor and but it on right after rad tx. I used 4x4 gauze pad to cover the boob so it didn't get too messy. This worked for me. I also wore those cami bra shirts easy to pull up and down for tx. Aquaphor baby soap worked well to..no perfume or dyes in it. I smelled like a baby lol

Nancyla..how are you doing with rads..The count down begins..I heard about the Wellness Center but never have been there..If you go give us and update on it.

Jackie...thanks for the inspirational quote today and looking to see many more. It made my day.

Wendy..were do you find those great pics. I laughed out loud at the peep spa and pole dancing pics. You crack me up lol

Janclare..how are you today. I had a great time yesterday. I think we all need spa days...will keep you posted on Leesa..

I love palm trees, beach and water and I think that expresses me perfectly. I really don't take good pics..so I think I would look better as a palm tree. lol

Love the daily quote from Jackie.  Great idea, blackjack! Now you have a job in front of you Jackie!

Calypso - I used Eucerin on my skin until it started to get really itchy.  Then I used hydrocortisone and Aquaphor on just those spots.  The itchiness didn't start until about week 4.  You will make it through.

I saw the Peep stuff in the trib and looked for the Peep show - figured that was too risque for the Trib.  Love it!

Hope Leesa is recovering by now!

    OK...how about this Blackjack?

This used to be mine before bc.org changed and we could have animated avatars!  She won't move however!

Calypso...Only thing I was told to use was Biafine cream (RX only) but it worked fabulously.  Aquaphor I was told to use only if and when they said to.  I never used my little tube that I bought.  And I agree with Blackjack re: the cami's.  I bought a bought of cheapies at Kohl's and just wore those...no need to change into a gown, I just pulled it down after I hopped up on the table, got zapped, then sat up and pulled it back up and I was out the door.  I went thru rads last May thru July and dressing like that got me in and out...FAST.

And for some reason, I think of Blackjack every time I see this pic but I am guessing she doesn't want this one!

I have more......but I think Karin's sunset scene is pretty!  Or I have that one on a beach with aloha written in the sand?????

My new avatar should be between the sunset and aloha beach pic you have. Let the voting begin lol.

Leesa update...still in surgery. will keep you all posted.

Patelia welcome to you and your sister to the Illinois board..

Patelia....Sorry your sister has to go through this, but tell her welcome.

Leesa might be out of surgery by now. Expecting update from Blackjack tonight.

I would vote for the sunset pic for Blackjack because it has the boat, water, and palm tree. Also, I like the element of serenity in it. I'm reminded of her by that picture.

Hey Wendy, you hula girl is performing all over the place. Love it and bathing beauty, but still vote for the sunset. Also saw the peeps pic in tribune, and thought it was great.

Jackie, thanks for the quote today. We need some inspiration as they are predicting more white stuff for Thursady and friday! What gives???? I told my DH he could leave the snowblower plugged with last Friday's shredded Trib, because hopefully we wouldn't need it until next year. Luckily he didn't listen to me, and fixed it.

Off to the dreaded grocery shopping. See you later!

Ok Blackjack....you won't like this but I loved the avatar picture of you.....ok, here's the deal.  I didn't see any wrinkles or anything else but I do have to say.....I don't notice "looks" as much I think as I notice the loving, generous, shinning, beautiful soul that is residing behind the face.  That makes almost everyone a 'beauty queen' to me.  So, to save problems---I'll go for the serene sunset.

I have never been able to see anything good looking about myself, and in my imagination---I feel most people don't look at themselves and feel they are gorgeous....on the other hand, I don't think I'm so ugly that I turn heads.  I think of myself as just ok....both directions.  I enjoy seeing the real people.....and when I get myself in the wig I like and some make-up on and Dh learns to put pictures back into my computer........i will make my avatar of that pic and use it.

Ok, it now seems official....hopefully I will get enough material from my daily subscriptions to post something daily.  I get several...some serious, some spiritual, some funny....so who knows what may show up.  It's been a stress reliever for me, but I got many of them long before I got cancer...hmmm....have I been that stressed for that long.  Oh well !!!!  Whatever  Just have to keep remembering how to do it. At least it now seems that I don't get quote marks on things.  That is one good thing Vista seems to work well for.  Actually....if I did a lot of complicated things I would probably hate Vista...but I am so un-schooled on computers in general that my meager in-put and out-go work just as well as my old XP.

Hope Leesa is doing well and Patelia....so glad you and sis are coming along.  This is a tremendous place to be.

Pat.....hard to believe that your area could get more white stuff.  Is this normal????  I know we seemed to have had our share of abnormal this year so I'm thinking-----maybe you too.

Anyway, I'll be checking in later for all.

    See you then.

OK all you brains, get down and give me 50!

Ok---see this...get me on the podium and I don't want to get off, but this came in just a bit ago and I was thinking it speaks volumes.  Now from here on out, I'll try to restrain myself from doing doubles  on you.

Just bopped on to see if there was any news about Leesa.

Karin, you've been busy finding just the right avatar for Michele.  I think the picture of her is perfect, but if she prefers palm trees, I vote for the scenic beach scene with the silhouetted palm trees. I  guess it's picture #3. (sunset/sunrise)

I'll think about your challenge in the morning, Jackie when I am more alert!  LOL

Hey Pat...I see you and I share the same opinion of grocery shopping!  LOL  I got mine done today, too.  Now it will just be quick "run-ins" until next week.

Calypso... I used Biafine like Wendy did.  I had no problems of any kind.  I lathered it on as soon as the rads were finished and kept putting it on until about 6 hours before my treatment.  I went through 1 1/2 large tubes during the process.  I can't believe they only gave you two tiny tubes!  Maybe that's just for starters.....and they intend to give you more once they see how you do.

Nancy...glad that you're tolerating the rads well.

Patelia...tell your sister we will be looking for her!

I'll be back later to see if Blackjack has any more news on Leesa!

OMG - I just spent the last 45 minutes composing a post - I went back to the prev page of posts to read some more - and in doing so...lost my WHOLE FRICKIN POST! I am ready to cry! This has been the FRICKIN DAY FROM HELL.. CRAPOLA!

    Sorry...

I went to the Podiatrist...surgery is a must. He has to shave 3 bones and put in 2 screws....I could cry right now... I just can't believe it! He wants me home for 2 FRICKIN weeks - leg elevated! I am so embarassed to tell work this...I just FRICKIN started there! I told him I will only stay home 1 week and the 2nd week - I will keep my foot elevated on the hard drive that's under my desk. DAMN... He gave me Celebrex and a compound topical cream for pain. Today it's been killing me. To the point that I just want my FRICKIN foot cut off...Cry

Sorry...I am not dealing with this very well...but I know others here are dealing with much worse...

I'm too exhausted to address each of you... emotionally and physically.

I'm hoping that Leesa's path comes back b9!

Oh Laura...that really sucks!  I'm sending hugs your way!  Do you feel confident with this podiatrist or do you think you need another opinion?  My feeble mind is having a hard time comprehending that your foot began to act up so suddenly and that it takes such an invasive procedure to correct the problem!

As for work, if you need to take the time, I'm sure they will work with you on this issue.  By now, I'm sure they realize your worth and they'd probably do anything they could to keep you!

Hang in there.  Remember...we Illinois gals are tough and you're one of the toughest!

Rita - Thank you so much! I really appreciate your post. I always appreciate your wisdom and insight. You are so very right...I need to get a second opinion...slap in the face to me....

    -----

As for Leesa...I don't mean to rain on her parade - so to speak - but during my Mast., the surgeon plucked out my sent. node, looked at it under the microscope, said it looked "good", left the operating room, told my dh and Mom that it "looked good" and that it looked "neg for cancer". Two days later, when the lab pathologists tested it...it showed cancer. My dh and Mom were devastated...I was in such a state of confusion that I didn't even comprehend the seriousness of it.

But...I will keep thinking POSITIVE thoughts for LEESA...

please, please, please...let those positive thoughts ring through!

Laura, I'm with Rita thinking that it may be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion. Maybe a very supportive low shoe will give you some temporary relief (which you've probably already tried.)

I too have lost posts by going back to a prior page. Now I always cntrl c what I've typed before I look back and then paste it back onFrown . Hang in there!
