Ok, I'm impressed about the looking back. I think I will have to stick with Wendy's method and just copy the page before I go on and before I start to write something. This really just happened to me as well with the router failure....except I could only stay on the Internet about five minutes before it dis-connected---course, didn't know that til' I tried to send and THEN.
It is discouraging as your first thoughts on everything are usually the best.
Laura, I am so sorry that the foot problem seems so pervasive and difficult. I too agree with Rita......it did seem to come so fast and hard. Still, at the same time it is ALOT of pain---so I do feel it is something that may require a fix that is not just routine. I would get a second opinion though....you don't want to do more than necessary.....
I also feel Laura you are right about Leesa's pathology report. Probably the best person for sure to say is the pathologist. I do feel though that a good surgeon, having seen lots and lots, may be able to give a correct answer. My surgeon, Dr. Marsha Ryan.....was very definite that my nodes ( 3 Sentinel nodes ) were clean as a whistle and they were. I do think though she took lots of care to educate herself on all aspects of surgery ( not that others don't ), but wanted to know for herself from the get-go how things were. I'm sure she has declined at times to give a definite answer until the reports came out though if there were any question. There was no time...in all my life...not that I had a ton of procedures that I ever felt so safe and cared for as I did with Dr. Ryan. She had a "Healer's Aura " which was visable to both myself and Denny. We both looked at each other when she left the room briefly and knew for certain that if a bad situation was at hand we could have found no better person or Dr. to be in charge and at the helm. It's still my humble opinion she saved my life. Most surgeons would have taken out the large bruise I had and figured the job was done---of course, she had already taken out what little remained of the Papillary cancer ( after biopsy ) and no one, including her even knew a second cancer was hiding under the bruise. She just kept checking though in order to satisfy herself I guess that all was clear...then lo and behold. So, she saves lives.....and consequently, I never doubted when she said I had all clear margins and nodes that all was exactly as she stated.
Ok, it's 4 a.m. Can't sleep...hmmm, but it's ok. I'll be back later, after coffee or something and chat more.

Morning all! Jackie....since you were up at 4am, drinking coffee....how about this as your avatar!
Blackjack....thanks for the update on Leesa. I too vote for the sunset pic from Karin (well...I still like the bathtub one tho!)
Laura...I agree with getting a second opinion. Unless I got it wrong, this problem seemed to pop up out of nowhere and all of a sudden you need this huge, invasive surgical procedure? Hmmmm....But I have to say, if you do....stay home the 2 weeks. Feet are very important...you know how miserable you can feel if your shoes hurt. Work will still be there and you could plan ahead and bring a bunch of stuff home to work on. Nurse Wendy says.....
Connie....is everything back to normal? How's your hair looking?
Michele....good luck this week!
Calypso, NancyLa....rads are a pain, aren't they? That going every day is the pits...I had 38 rads. But I went thru 3 tubes of Biafine! Not sure how Rita only got away with 1 1/2 tubes but that cream sure worked for us. I had some left over and I have used it on scrapes, cuts etc and they heal up so quickly. If you google it, you'll get this whole long story on how it works on the cells...very interesting.
OK...now for the lymph nodes and Leesa. I agree that it is wonderful that her lymph nodes "looked" clean but my surgeon told me the exact same thing but then said "...but I have been fooled before". So...be thrilled that they look clean (and Jackie's right - they see these things on a daily basis so they are good judges), but wait for the path report to really start jumping up and down. And I know that Leesa knows this too, esp. having been down this road before.
Now....to Leesa.....YAY!!!!!! It's over!!!!!! Your surgeon was pleased, so far everything is looking good and you get to come home today!!!!!! And you had HOT toes!!!!!!!! I am sooooo happy for you! Please post when you feel up to it....Hugs, hugs, hugs!!!!!
Time to get moving.....I'm getting some new furniture delivered for the living room and there is stuff to do. I will catch up later to see if Blackjack has heard from Leesa.
OH....here's that aloha pic, but I still like the sunset one best.
If you want, I could resize this and send it to you. And yep....the hula girl moves, but not in our avatars anymore. That changed when they redid this website....boohooo! I liked my little hula girl!
PS: Just watching the weather on ch. 9 - if I hear snow one more time I am going to scream.

This was from Jackie...
Learn a new language
Do more puzzles
Join Toastmasters or a debating club
Earn a degree
Wear out your library cardAnd why I can't....
1) Can't learn a new language - since chemo I have enuf trouble with English
2) Debating club? Nope, don't think so! After chemo, I would keep forgetting what side I was on!
3)Puzzles....I attempt them, but due to chemo, can't remember words
4)Go back to school? What? Are you nuts? I did a lot of work 4 years ago when DH was in school for his doctorate and I had a hard time then....
5) Ah! Library! Now...that is something I can do!!!!! Trouble is, with my poor chemo-addled brain I bring home all these great books and then I settle down with one...only to realize that I read it a few months ago.
Wonder how long I can blame my old brain on chemo? I like having a reason for being stoopid other than being old!

Hi all -
So glad to hear that Leesa is doing well. I'll keep praying for more good news for her.
Laura - wow - that does sound drastic. I agree that you should get a second opinion when they start talking about screws in bones, etc. I'm sure they will be fine with your leave at work, but I would feel the exact same way as you.
Jackie - I like puzzles so I'll take on that challenge. My son and I like to do jigsaws together.
I'm sure that Calypso's rad office was just giving her 2 little tubes to get her started. I know my office did not supply me with all of my cream - I had to buy it myself. You guys were provided with everything?
Yes, Wendy, all feels back to normal for me. Back at work, walked the track at the gym last night (slowly as he told me to wait a month for vigorous activity). The hair is looking ok - my hair was always thick and wavy so it's really coming in thick and somewhat curly. Hard to tame. I have completely shed my wig at home (well, I had shed it at "home" for awhile now, but I have now been going everywhere without it since I got it cut). I am still wearing it to work - I'm thinking a couple more weeks. The only thing that really bothers me is the lack of bangs. I have always had bangs on my forehead so I just feel like a guy without them. The rest of my head looks like a normal short cut.
I thought of you last night Rita, when I was trying to close this drawer that my daughter keeps all her hairbands, etc in. It is packed and definitely needs a good cleaning. Funny how we leave that stuff alone until we just can't shut the drawer anymore.
I am just refusing to believe this stuff about snow tomorrow. 50 today! I smiled this morning when I opened the garage and heard tons of birds chirping. A sure sign of spring! It was so nice. And I have my nice springy lavender suit on today at work. There will be no snow tomorrow. Period.
Have a great day everyone!

Success is not fame or money or the power to bewitch. It is to have created something valuable from your own individuality and skill-----
a garden,an embroidery, a painting, a cake, a life.

Morning again....don't know what I was doing up so early....other than my little Poncho chose to bark ---- probably at deer down in the ravine. Sometimes happens, but not too often thank goodness. Dh couldn't get back to sleep either.
I am giving a second to Wendy's statement.....FEET are very important. I had to get those special metal orthotic inserts as I could barely get around on my feet....even at work where I do a lot of sitting. By the end of the day my misery knew no bounds. I no longer even put the inserts in my shoes....they helped so much. I am looking forward to a lot more walking.....in fact, one of the best all around exercises you can do, when a little better consistent weather gets here.
Anyway....steel yourself to do what you have too, but do protect your feet Laura. You need to move yourself around in relative comfort.
I love jig-saw puzzles and used to have one setting somewhere all the time and we worked on it anytime we were not doing other things. I have fallen out of the habit---too many kitties around here too...but I have a roll-up puzzle mat. I also try to do two or three puzzles from the paper per week so as to stimulate what little gray matter I seem to have left right now. Also, I am reading once again. Can't say much for my powers of retention....but at least it's nice to have come back to something that once meant such a great deal to me. Reading in my spare time was my life.....and I always had books. They are great friends and can be there always.
Hope you all have a great day...as usual I'll be checking in from time to time. Don't work til' tomorrow.....wow...after more than a week off that will wear me down a bit, but that is ok. Last week, I only had one day.....and had an appt. so didn't have to go at all. They paid me anyway....what great people.
See ya'll later.
Jackie

Laura, I am so sorry you are having such trouble with your feet. I hate to second guess anyone's medical advice, but I too agree with getting a second opinion. Surgery is too big of a deal and our feet are so very important.
Leesa, I am glad surgery went well and you are still in my prayers.
Best wishes to everyone else, I lost track reading the thread.
I am starting to get really tired from the rads. I have been trying to do a mile each day on my treadmill, but it is really becoming a chore.

Laura....I'm so sorry you are in such pain. Have you thought about seeing an orthopedic surgeon who has a special interest in foot and ankle? You could probably start with the one you have seen in the past. that sounds like a lot of surgery, and second and even third opinions can be helpful. Also, about work....couldn't you work at home again, just for a little while? You did it so well before, and the time would go by before they know it, you'll be back! Hugs and good thoughts today.
Let's all enjoy this great weather while we have it!

I'm so glad Leesa got through her surgery so well. She must be so glad to hear about the nodes being negative, and my toes and fingers are crossed for the path report. Surgeons cannot eyeball the cells perfectly, but thet sure can give a very educated guess based on their previous experience. She looked great with her coral toes, and it was a perfect color for her skin tones. JanClare should be our beauty consultant, as she found the color among the many polish bottles on the shelf.
I had to buy my rads cream too. They gave me a tiny sample tube, and a presription for more. It was called Radioplex, and it's what my onc likes to use. I still got burned, and it took a few weeks to clear up. Onc said that I might because bigger breasted women more often do. Still worth it for the protection it gives, though.
Shall we all get outside a bit today? Birds chirping, and my very own herd of deer in the backyard. They are looking at me , hoping I'll soon be planting some tasty geraniums!

Oh dear, Jackie is sending up THE BEST quotes and then deleting them so she has them all to herself. Just kidding.
Laura, I so feel your disappointment about the foot problem and the timing with a new job. I would feel all that you are feeling. I do not know a thing about your foot problem, but could you take an anti-inflamatory and see if it settles down?
My impression of you has always been that you are such a hardworking and dedicated person, that you should get rid of the "embarassment" feelings. I just know they know that they are lucky to have you and all this will just be a dim memory in one year. I remember that I was diagnosed with BC in August and had Open House to meet parents when I knew I was going to go through surgery the next day and would not be able to teach for whatever number of days. Every one understood that I had no control over this one. I should probably send this as a PM, but I know everyone shares my thoughts on this.
Good for Leesa and good for Blackjack for keeping us in the loop.
I went on a shopping spree with my granddaughter yesterday as I am off on break. Oh man, did I feel like a grandmother.....a very broke, but happy one!

Jackie I figure I'm keeping my mind active.....
I'm learning a new language...CHEMOLISH, Giving meaning to words my brain makes up when it can't remember the "right" word
What were we debating??? Are we on the same team?
I'd go back to school but it's hard to get my fat butt into those little chairs!
Now where is my library card......where's the library??? LOL
Laura How's your foot? Hope they can figure something out BESIDES surgery! Not much worse than having your feet hurt!
WendyHow did you get the pic of Jackie @ the computer @ 4 AM?? LOL
Leesa Hope you are home and on the road to recovery. When you feel up to it you HAVE to post the pics of lunch AND I want to see pics of the pedicure!! Nail polish color sounds interesting!
Connie I found my hair looked better when I didn't wear my wig for a few days. And my bangs were the last to grow. I still have spots that haven't been trimmed.
Nancy I sometimes felt rads tired me out more than chemo, but w/chemo I took RX to help me sleep and I went to bed early. But I guess I didn't feel "justified" going to bed early on rads...( after all it only took a few minutes...)
ZAP How old is your grand daughter? The 1 that lives w/ us is 15 and she can run u ragged shopping....AND empty a checking account quickly!
Smerf Kinda odd your onc said bigger breasted women burn easily, and mine said "no breasted" women burn easier. Guess we needed to be in-between!!
Think I've ran on long enough!!!!!
Blackjack sent you e-mail w/ avatar !

Good Morning Ladies....
What a beautiful day it outside and I think spring is finally here.
Let's enjoy that sun shine and get your dose of Vit. D.
Leesa update..she called this am..sounded very groggy from all the pain meds but said she was feeling better now that everything is all over. Reports are good..going home today with the boyfriend. She wanted me to tell everyone thank you for all your support and prayers for her. She could not have made it without each and everyone of you ...You are all so special and you all deserve a really big HUG, so I am sending one to everyone of you from her.
Laura.. I hope your foot is feeling better really soon.
Jackie..I love the quotes..they are very inspiring and healing too. Keep up the good work. I hope you are feeling better too.
Zap ..I hope you had fun shopping..sometimes it can be draining looking at all those trendy outfits. lol
Smerf...did you get to clean out your bathroom yet..
Nancyla and Calypso..wishing good thoughts during rads...almost done.
Wendy..I love the aloha beach..wish I was in Maui now..but will take this spring weather. My fish are starting to wake up and swimming near the top..they are HUGE. I hope my babies lived throught the winter..Will open it up in May. Can't wait to hear that waterfall again.
To everyone else I hope you enjoy the day...think spring..flowers..sunshine.
Be healthy...be happy.. Will check in later

Karin...You're right, no breasted women can burn the most. My onc was comparing me {DDD} to women with smaller breasts. I think it's so individual that it is hard to predict sometimes. He was right about me, however.
Susan....What fun! Shop 'til you drop, and go home happy.
Blackjack...Thanks for keeping us updated on Leesa, and tell her we all send big hugs her way. We should have had camera at Spa Day.
Nancy and Calypso...Hope rads are going well for you both. Give yourself permission to take a nap if you need it!
Connie...Give it time, I know how you feel about bangs. I've always had them to cover my high forehead, and they were the last hair to come in. Or I should say they came in, but then I had to wait a long time for them to get longer than a half inch. Just one more thing we have to be patient about. I bet your hair loks really cute!
Wendy...You really made me laugh! I was thinking too that I have enough trouble with English. I can relate to all on your list of reasons why....I do have my library card, but can't remember where the library is. Oh well, time will improve most things, including this.
Jackie...Thanks so much for the quotes, and inspiration. And yes, this weather is a little extreme this year. Even for Chicagoland. There is still snow in my yard, and the robins are trying to find food under it. I'm thinking forward to planting some flowers on the deck, and using imaginative ways to keep deer from eating them.
Everyone, have a happy day in the sunshine!

Hey Rita, I keep forgetting to mention how CUTE your grandchildren are. My brain often goes on vacation with out giving me notice. You look like you are having the most fun ever with them.
Yes, I guess we do share the dislike for that one task we all must do. I'd rather scrub floors than buy groceries! Though on the bright side I often do run into nice people I haven't seen for awhile, and have a nice chat.

Ok, the darn font thing came back....guess it depends somewhat on where you are "lifting" your quotes from sometimes.
All is well here. Beautiful day today. We are definitely starting Spring here in Southern Illinois. Couldn't happen too soon for me. Of course, it was not just the longing for Spring....it was and has also been the longing not to have to drive every 3 weeks to Marion in super rotten weather.
Doing our taxes this afternoon....in each life some rain must fall, I guess. Well, it probably won't be that bad this year actually...but hey I have to complain about something don't I.
Got Baby Boss an appt. for his 'ahem' operation. He needs to go to the groomer's as well. So many things that I haven't gotten done lately....well, living is what matters and sometimes that just takes more time....it will all come out in the wash like my momma use to say.
Hope all you have a peaceful, pretty rest of the day.
See ya later.

Ya'll must be very busy tonight. It's raining cats and dogs and probably other strange things outside and has been since early afternoon. Of course I'm disgusted. We will have thunderstorms as well tomorrow. Not a happy time for me. We do not need the water....but I guess water in the form of water and not in the form of snow can be appreciated somewhat....we just don't need moisture in any form right now.
Hope no one else is having a soggy evening....and certainly no moisture in any form.
Talk to you tomorrow.

Hi ladies!
We had a beautiful day here today. I would have been on the golf course but I had to go to my rescheduled hair appointment. It was getting so shaggy that I couldn't have lasted much longer. We are supposed to get your rain tomorrow, Jackie.
Pat..thanks so much for the compliment about my grandsons. Naturally I think they're pretty cute but all grandmas think that way! I sure enjoyed them over Easter. I only wish they were closer so I could spend more time with them. It would be so much fun to be able to drive across town and take them for an ice cream cone or to the park. I treasure each and every minute I get with them.
It's been pretty quiet on here today so I hope that everyone is having a good day. Leesa, I hope you're doing well and all comfy at home! I've been thinking about you.
How's the foot, Laura? Have you gotten any relief at all? HUGS!!!
Karin and Jackie....your inspirational quotes have been the hit of the day! I'm enjoying them.
Well, the recliner is beckoning!
Take care gals!
Rita

Morning All! Raining here and 36. I guess snow might be on our menu as well. Sigh..........
Leesa....How are you? Home I assume and tucked up in your cozy bed, getting some z's. Post when you can....Hugs!!!!!
Blackjack...thanks for keeping us updated on Leesa. You are such a sweetie.
Rita....golf? It's like you live on another planet or something! I just shoveled off the last of the snow from the deck yesterday as I was tired of looking at it.
Susan....not sure how old your granddaughter is, but did you ever go to a store called "Justice for Girls"? We have a couple out here. The clothes are so cute, I kid you not, I take my grandniece there for her BD shopping, and I end up holding up the size 14-16, wondering if it might fit me...the tops are that nice. I actually think I might be able to fit in them....stay tuned! They have a website too.
Smerf....lucky you with all the deer. We do see them out here, along Rt 31 and the Fox River, but then they are usually running across the road which scares me silly. And I got tired of waiting for spring to come to my deck planters....bought a bunch of spring blooms from Michaels and jammed them in the dirt, altho I had to wait for the dirt to thaw! I think they are very pretty. My neighbors think I am nuts.
Connie....yep, bangs are taking FOREVER!!!!! If I pull mine down they do touch the eyebrows but I have a slight curl in my hair so they still appear half-way up my forehead. Don't tell anyone but I actually did look into...wait for it....bang extensions. Until I slapped myself upside my head and got over that one. That, and the cost!!!! Noooooooo thank you!
Laura....seeing an ortho who specializes in foot problems would be a great 2nd opinion. OK...this is where I get stoooopid again...Pat/Smerf...your DH is an ortho, correct? Know anyone out Laura's way??? Of course, I probably got that wrong and pat's DH is an air traffic controller or something.
Karin...well I'm smarter than you as I know where the library is. I was just telling my SIL that we don't go to the one in Elgin as we pay our taxes to...you know, that cute town on the river...the holy one???? Next to the town from Switzerland???? She had no idea what I was talking about. I was trying to say Saint Charles (holy) next to Geneva. Good Gosh. Duh.
Sparker, Julie...how are you guys?
Patelia...when's your sister joining?
Blackjack...love the avatar!
Mich101...tomorrow's the big day, correct? Yay! Post when you can and let us know how you are, okay? Hugs, girlfriend!
Living room furniture came and I made a good choice...room looks totally different. Funny...I looked for furniture for over a year and couldn't find anything I liked. Then I go to Pier 1 for a candle and walk out with a whole room. Who knew!!!!
Jackie...thanks for the quotes! I got up at 4:30am, just to read them. Well....maybe it was the thunder.
Everyone...have a wonderful day....I will check back later to see how Leesa's doing.
0 -
Oops...forgot....Nancy and Calypso....remember that rads is designed to kill cells, even healthly ones, so your body need time to regenerate the good cells...hence, you are tired and need rest. Get some exercise as this is good and if you feel like a nap, go for it! Want to go to bed at 7:30pm? Why not? Weather is lousy and TV is too!!!
0 -
Ok - you guys are depressing me about the bangs! I didn't know it would take THAT long for them to come back. I figured a couple more weeks and I would look halfway normal. Oh well.
Yes, I used to go to bed really early when going through chemo and rads. After we got the kids to bed around 8 - I would crawl into bed, watch some TV and be asleep before 9. I'm slowly working my way back up to 10 now.
Good luck tomorrow, Mich101. I'm interested to hear how you like your lift as it's still an option for me to do later.
Calypso - you are almost done with your first week!
Leesa - hope you are feeling good resting at home. Just keep looking at those toes!
Thanks for the quotes, Jackie. I REALLY enjoy them! It's nice to take that moment to think them over.
Have a great day everyone. Just keep thinking - no snow.

Now it's my time. Thunder, lightning, pouring, driving rain all night. Ah, but this is Spring here so maybe I should just shut the heck up.
Hope all are feeling well.....and if any of you MUST get moisture I hope it's the R word and not the S one.
As well.....Leesa and Laura.....though vastly different reasons....Here's big hugs and wishing you a good day.....a great day would be fantastic but good is a great start on the way there.
Connie....I'm with you.....even though it will be months before MY hair time it's not a pleasant thought that I will wait for bangs. My forehead ( other than right now along with the rest of my head ) has never been bare. HMMMM....could we learn to draw some on like we do the missing eyebrows---guess not!!!! Well, you know all those little kitties I have.....maybe I can borrow some of their hair. You know any port in the storm. A little crazy glue ( oh so lightly ) and I'm back in business. Hey--we might even snatch a little from an old wig.
Well all who I haven't called by name.....I always try to picture ( in some way ) all of you as I write and let the vibes wander around. Hope you all have a spendid day.

Good morning!
Glad to see those inspirational quotes to start the day and Wendy's graphics. It's rainy here, too today. Wendy, it is so amazing the difference that 100 miles can make in the weather. It's been even warmer in "Jackie's neck of the woods." It doesn't look like will be golfing today as we got rain during the night and it's expected to continue off and on today. Oh well, my cleaning lady didn't come this week because her kids were on spring break so I have plenty to do around here.
Ah, Blackjack...your new avatar is up and going! How neat!
And how are our rad girls doing today?
Leesa...thinking of you and hoping that you're feeling better each day.
Michele..good luck tomorrow! We'll be anxious to hear how it goes and how wonderful you'll look when it's all done! HUGS! You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you move on with this next step in your journey. :-)
Karin, are all the spring flowers now in full bloom in Oregon? Mine are all poking their heads out of the ground as if they're trying to decide if it's safe to reappear! I'm ready to get out there and clean off the flower beds and dig in the dirt.
Laura...hope you're getting some relief with the foot.
Wendy... I love how quickly you planted your flowers! You are always one step ahead of me! LOL That's a great way to attack the winter blues.
Connie...remember! There are NO BAD HAIR DAYS as long as you have hair! Some days are just better than others. Your long awaited bangs will arrive with the spring sunshine and brighten your spirits!
Well, everyone have a good day! I'm off to tackle some projects around here.
Rita

Good Morning Ladies,
Karin..thanks for the instructions for my NEW avatar...I just love it. It took me a while to figure it out but now it is up and running..it is so me and boating season is almost here yeh!! I was up north yesterday and Lake Geneva is still frozen in some area's..it may take a while for the lake to melt.
Laura and Leesa..hope you both are feeling better soon. Laura you should try painting your toes orange like Leesa and you too can be toe twins. lol
Mich101..good luck tomorrow..I will say a pray that all goes well for you..sending you a big hug.
Connie.. your hair looked so cute the last time I saw you..I think any hairstyle you choose to wear would look awesome.
Jackie..you are the inspirational girl...your quotes make my day..thanks for doing a great job to keep us all motivated.
Rita..how hard is it to learn how to play golf? My dh wants us to learn this game together...thinks we can spend lots of time on the course playing..I think I would just hit him with the clubs as he drives me crazy sometimes..well no all the time.. men lol
Hope everyone else..Smerf, Susan, Sharon, Sparker, Calyso, Nancyla have a good day.
Will check back later..be healthy..be happy..think spring flowers...
spring is almost here.

Good morning:
I am almost embarrassed to tell you all that I went on that shopping spree with my granddaughter and she is only 8 months old! LOL. She has a whole 12-month wardrobe of spring and summer ensembles, beachware, raincoats, and all sort of adorable footwear. I will remember those places for older girls when she is 13 years older. Knock on wood, I am around. Do you ever say that last line?
I went antiquing with Dh in Peru, Illinois yesterday. Was I near anybody? We stopped in Utica, Oswego, Ottowa and Morris? I felt like I was in the country and it felt very good.
Wedding this weekend and I ave no clue what to wear. It is cold here and overcast and they even say snow. It is downtown at the Peggy Nosebart Nature Center. The only things I have are a trench coat and a jacket vest and I hate to go out and get a beautiful coat for the occassion. I guess you can wear black year round.
Have a warm day. My thoughts are with all the recuperating ladies.
Susan
