Illinois ladies facing bc

Karin,
Thanks for the pictures. Is Nancy the one wearing the black vest? I'm trying to use process of elimination here! LOL It looks like you had a good time!
I can't help with the large picture issue. I had that problem, too and finally Wendy helped me by getting me to downsize the pictures from my camera before I put them on photobucket. That helped me but I had to follow her step-by-step directions. You can scroll back. Somewhere she told me what to do. LOL
Connie..I had to laugh about the hot flashes in warmer weather and warmer climates. Years ago, when my Mom was going through menopause, she was living in Illinois and having terrible hot flashes. In the midst of all this, they moved to Florida where she claimed her hot flashes nearly disappeared. We always told her she was crazy. The weather was just so much hotter in Florida that she couldn't tell when a hot flash hit! She swore to the contrary and who knows.......maybe she really was right! LOL
Well, my hair appointment got rescheduled until Wednesday. I always schedule it in advance and when we set up the schedule neither of us realized that my beautician and her kids were not is school today so we switched. I've resorted to cleaning drawers. It's amazing the things I had crammed into each drawer. They're alot easier to open and shut now! :-)
Well back to work!

Laura, sorry about the pain you are having with your feet. I know what you mean about thinking it could be.... you know what...
I registered for the Day of Sharing...When it gets closer can we see who is going and meet up so we can share a table?
Leesa, you will be in my thought and prayers on Tuesday.
Rita, yes it is me in the picture with the black vest.

Rita....I have a few drawers that need some attention, if you are bored....

Hi Everyone,
I have been mia today. Tried 3 times to send what seemed a perfect addition.......and kept getting kicked off the Internet. Finally after hours discovered it seems to be a defective router. Dh took it off....returned it to Staples in Mt. Vernon---22 miles South, and still under warranty thank goodness, picked up a new one. I think this note may go through.
Naturally I won't be able to recall all I said....but I was thanking Wendy for Leesa and Calypso and all the hounding she did so they would hopefully take care of the important business of taking care of the nasty disease.
Susan....also said something to you and can't recall now what it was.
Laura...I know I sympathized with you magnificently. I use to walk two or three miles a day. Feet went bad ???? why or how ??? after my stroke. I knew because my feet starting hurting so much when I walked and I was wearing my shoes down vastly different than I ever did. I tried custom orthotics from the podiatrist....they didn't seem to make a lot of improvement. Dh found a company from Sweden. They make metal ones....sounded un-comfortable to me, but he had some and swore by them. I finally relented and got some....I'm not wearing anything now.....that's how good they seemed to have been for my feet. Of course.....long story for me, but I do know how much agony two little feet can be. Hope you get some attention soon.
Connie...I do recall hot flashes. When I lived in California they just didn't do much and I thought it was the very mild coastal California climate with no humidity.....I did however notice others who seemed to be affected harshly.
When I got here with all this humidity...believe me....I needed something. Big mistake I now feel, but it's water under the bridge. I took the HRT and I do feel it had lots to do with having a stroke and probably help contribute to this cancer now. My whole family took HRT and had no problems....so I felt safe. You really can't judge your reactions by that of anyone else. Now I seem to be the first female in my family line to have cancer.
Anyway.....I love the pictures as usual. They are great.
I'll be checking back later as long as my new router holds up. I'm going to be on disgusted lady if this happens again. I depend so heavily on feeling like I'm able to reach any of you whenever I feel I need to or just want too.
See you later.

Here's something I wanted to share with everyone. Hope I can get it in decently. Last time I tried I got quote marks etc......but it's a spiritual thing....................................................................
Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it arrives? The eagle will fly to a high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.
When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us experience our own personal storms - we can rise above them all by understanding that the storm is really just a challenge brought to us by the Divine as a means to lift us up. In life, growth from challenges is what life is about.
When you understand this, you will be able to rise above the winds of the storms that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in your lives. You can soar above the storm.
Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down. It is how we handle them.
This is Rex Barker, reminding you to understand that when you are given a challenge in life, it is there for a purpose. So take the energy of the challenge to go figure out the true purpose. Then you will have really soared.0 -
Thanks for the card fairy boob sister!

Back from Spa Day, and Leesa looks like a knockout! Had another tasty lunch at Maggiano's, and behaved very well, I thought. They didn't have to have us detained for disturbing the peace, or disrobing in public. We're getting to be regulars there.
Blackjack, thanks for arranging everything. JanClare, you did a great job on color choice.
Hang in there Leesa, we are all thinking of you, and know you will get through it. We're here for you.
Big hug, Pat

Hi gals!
Nancy...you're a cutie! It's nice to put a face with your name! Sure wish I could have met you!
Karin...how neat that you came up with an avatar for Blackjack! All the pictures were great. Thanks so much for sharing them.
Leesa, Pat and JanClare...so glad that spa day was such a success. You all needed that and now Leesa will look lovely for tomorrow! Hugs to you, Leesa. I will be thinking about you and we'll all be waiting anxiously for a report! You can do it!
Wendy... a couple of drawers at a time is my limit. Why do we wait until we can barely get the things closed to clean them out? There's lots of things like that around here that I should be doing! LOL
Hope your feet are doing better, Laura.
Michele, you're on the countdown to a new you! I will be thinking about you on Friday and sending good vibes your way! What a way to usher in Spring! I'm hoping that all goes exactly as you anticipate and that you're very happy with your new look!
Smerf.....you're looking REAL good in those pictures!
I'm off to get something done around here. Catch you all later.
Rita

It was wonderful to be with Leesa. I know she felt better about everything once she was able to express her frustrations and fears. I think she just needed to be with BC sisters who "understood" today. Especially our Pat (Smerf), whose medical knowledge is incredible and invaluable!!
Blackjack, thank you so much for arranging Leesa's spa treatment. Her nail tech was really wonderful!
Leesa, we are all with you in spirit tomorrow!

I am so thrilled that I will get some answers. Thanks to those who posted that cancer rarely goes to the feet...that has helped me so much.
As for the silver puzzle charm...it signifies the fact that all of you are an essential piece of this incredible Illinois Girl Group. As I meet each of you...I will continue to hand them out. Remember...you are an essential piece to this puzzle/group. I'm happy you're treasuring yours!
Leesa - YOU ARE NUMERO UNO ON THE PRIORITY LIST OF SPECIAL THOUGHTS AND WISHES AND HEALING AND COMFORT...we are ALL routin' ya on gurl! We're here for you...we are holding you up and we are beside you...

jackie - I am not at all a spiritual person, but I will never forget one thing that I read...years ago...in a Wayne
Dwyer book(I can't remember the title, but it was a good one): he said: If life was fair, birds would not eat worms. I LOVED THAT! And I have lived by that! You are moving forward...you will do great...you are turning the pages to the next chapter.Wendrew...you and that darned peep show! LOL LOL LOL...I just love your sense of humor...our "class clown" was truly missed last Friday!
Susan - Thanks... I knew you'd have a great Easter...I can just imagine how you spoil the little ones! Yes, laughing is awesome! We did the same...and because none of us can remain idle...we did word games together and my Mom handed out lottery tickets as prizes! We are always challenging each other with wit and numbers! LOL My nieces love it...and we have even done work sheets from MENSA...and timed each other on how long it took to complete each one...too much fun.
Rita - I'm sure your grandkids were just as excited to see YOU, as you were to see THEM! They are very lucky to have you in their life. It's great that you had a fun and safe trip...but I missed your presence on Friday! Yes...Nancy is wearing the black vest, and I am the one with the quadruple chins! LOL

smerf, blackjack and all the spa gurlz - WOW! It's awesome you spent the day together...that is just FAB!

Well, I just got out of a great bubble bath, thanks to Michelle my hands and feet are beautiful, I have truly had a wonderful spa day. I just hope the Doctors can keep their eyes of the spectacular color ( my chihowhau sp? bites) of my toes long enough to do my surgery.
I was a basket case when I got to Maggiano's this afternoon, but after just a few minutes of whining the girls had me relaxed and happy.
Michelle, Jan Clare and Pat thank you so much for being with me today, I am truly blessed to have friends like you.
Jackie I feel like your message was written for me...
To all the other girls, I know I am in your thoughts and in your hearts, thank you so very much for the kind words, hugs and prayers.
Blackjack will keep you all abreast of my situation.
I love you all
Leesa

Leesa, in case you check before you leave for the hospital, remember all of these ladies are behind you in their prayers and thoughts. Go fight! Hugs.
If you don't check and the surgery is done, and you are at home again, go take another pain pill and sleep.

Hi Leesa,
I am posting again to tellyou that we had ladies meeting in Ramallah Today at the Church. 18 village women from the West Bank Palestine were praying for you in Arabic! What a small world we live in!
(I hope this does not intrude on your religious sensibilties, but as for me, I always say I will take all the prayer I can get).
Hugs

Leesa.....Today is the day. You have our hearts filled with love for you, our arms with lots of hugs, our souls with many prayers. We will wait for news, anxiously but patiently. If there is one thing we have all learned, it's how to wait.
Sharon....the image of you and your ladies meeting, thousands of miles away, praying for Leesa in Arabic...well, there were a few tears for me this morning. What a wonderful thing to do and I can just see our Leesa, trying furiously to understand the words!!! I am so sure that this prayer meeting will do the trick! Thanks, and I am so glad you had to chance to meet us last month....I sure hope you are coming to see us in August!
Laura...I have some bunny slippers if the leopard ones of Blackjack's don't work!
Blackjack, JanClare, Smerf....what you did for Leesa yesterday I know made all the difference in her "Day Before" the "Big Day". Only those who have gone before can truly understand what she felt yesterday and she needed you guys so much. Thanks from all of us for doing that.
Patelia....OF COURSE your sister (and you too) are welcome. Hmmm....Bears fan? Well, OK. But don't expect miracles. But a Cubs fan? Well...come on up! Only those silly people from the South side are White Sox fans....(and I am ducking as things get thrown at me via the internet). Just beware....we are a very tough group, but we can get a little silly. Like, if you read back thru some of these posts about lunches we have had and what goes on at the table and in the ladies room. But we are FAIRLY normal. And hugs to your sister as she starts this journey...we have I think 2 sisters with ILC in our little group.
Rita...well, I see more snow/sleet for Thurs and Fri so I guess I will clean my own drawers. Should be interesting....
I can't do 4/13 I don't think . something about a changed date for a BD party. I will check and see what's up.
Sound like everyone had a good Easter, mine was good as well. And I'm glad you all like the "peep show". There was actually a contest (nope - didn't know about it) in the Chgo Trib and the winner was "The Pampered Peep" - day spa for peeps. I will try and locate it on-line - talk about hilarious and if only people with all this time on their hands would find something else to do, you know, like cure cancer! But it was funny and we need that too!
Jackie...wondered where you got to. And I loved your philosophy about soaring above...it was perfect. And thank you so much for sharing and glad Leesa got to read that. I thnk it was important for her, and it came at the perfect time.
"If life was fair, birds would not have to eat worms" - I LOVE IT!!!!
Everyone, have a wonderful day!

Go Cubs!

Hi gals!
LEESA...you're on the top of our list today! We're with you all the way! The trees are swaying with the breeze and the sun is peaking through the branches here. I think that's a good sign that everything is going to go well!
Smerf and JanClare....what wonderful ladies you are! I'm so proud to be a member of the same bc thread as you! Blackjack...did you go along to the spa or were you the official scheduler? I think you missed your career calling! You should have been an event planner. You have that special touch!
Laura...I'm glad the foot is a bit better. I imagine that it will take some time to heal completely. Hang in there! And as for the pictures from lunch, I can't see anything wrong with you! You look just as cute as ever to me! :-)
How are you doing, Jackie? Are you getting through the after affects better this time?
Wendy...this weather is disgusting! If this continues, we'll run out of drawers and closets to clean! While cleaning out my bra drawer, I realized that I have LOTS of really good bras that are the underwire style. Most of them are Bali and a few are Victoria Secret. I'd only worn a few of them twice. I sure hate to throw them out but don't want to wear the underwire ones anymore. I'm hooked on the Warner and Victoria Secret wireless styles now.
Connie...do you have that Stephen King book finished yet? I decided that I would start with the first book and read the Alex Cross series of books by James Patterson. A friend gave me the first one and I picked up the second one in the library. When I finished it, I went to get the third one, Jack and Jill, and it wasn't in the library so hopefully it will be returned this week and I can continue on. Has anybody read all these books? I also found a Jodi Picoult book (Change of Heart) in the Easter basket that my grandkids made me! She's a fantastic writer and I can't wait to snuggle up in the recliner and start that one. The little guys were so excited about this Easter basket. I'd barely got inside the door before they tried to give it to me. It's a good reminder that we all come with a "giving heart."
Sparker...Did you ever get the chance to meet Irina?
Patelia...send your sister on over! There's always room for one more! We'd love to have her join us!
Connie...I second your last statement! GO CUBS! This is our year! It's too bad that Cub tickets are so hard to get. It would be fun to meet for a day at the park!
Well, I need to get moving again. There's laundry to do and my favorite grocery shopping job to complete! It's an exciting day in central Illinois today, gals! LOL
Everyone have a good day. I'll try to drop in later!

Good Morning Girls,
Leesa update...off to surgery today. Her sister came in from Texas to be here today as well as the boyfriend. With all our support and prayers from around the world she is in good hands. I will keep you all posted.
Welcome Patti from Indiana..we are a very chatty group..so if you like a good time you came to the right place.
Laura..I hope you foot is better. I was thinking maybe you have gout in your foot. That can be very painful but there are drugs to help that. Just a thought. Another thought is that I think your puzzle piece should be marketed with a great saying for all other groups
to enjoy. As for holiday table settings I use a theme idea and then I run with it. I have to say they are different every year. So can I be a party planner now lol Did I pass the test. lol
Jackie..how are you feeling hope you are feeling better these day.
I love your inspiration quotes...an idea is that you could post one everyday to help us get throught this disease with" words of inspiration from Jackie " just a thought.
Sharon..how are you doing. Praying in Arabic must be pretty amazing..We all could use helping hands from around the world. You are always in our thoughts...hope you come home soon safe and sound.
Pat and Janclar..thanks for a wonderful day yesterday. I too was relaxed with all of you and knowing that with love and support from others you can do anything..You both are very special women who go above and beyond to help others. Thank you....
Karin.. could you get me a palm tree or beach for my pic. I have to many wrinkles..lol
Rita..do you have spring yet by you..need to think spring.
To everyone else I hope you have a good day. Think spring..warm weather...flowers..be healthy..be happy
Hugs to all,
Blackjack

Good Morning all,
Leesa....like all have said we are very much with you today holding you high. BTW, glad the piece I sent made a difference for you. Also, I would like to add....no one whines and gripes more than me. Of course, I think not too many here are still undergoing much for chemo. Most I think are doings rads now.....I don't know, my mind turns off lately when I least expect it and disappears over the horizon without me.
Hope Patellia that you and your sister are able to join us. Let me warn you though....life will never be the same. Hopefully, like me, it will be better than you ever thought it could be.
Laura..........loved your Wayne Dyer quote ( I'm not going to tell you how long I had to look for the Q on my keyboard ) all the while feeling sorry for hungry birds til' I remembered that there are lots of other things they eat. Boy, my mental faculties really are in a dither.
Anyhow, I finally am getting a little back ache...of which is still though annoying, not bad enough to bother taking anything for and hopefully.....by Thursday will be all right. My office chair is not real comfy but hey....so what. I'm here and whatever is, is and I will plow through and congratulate myself when I'm done.
Laura.....not happy about your feet, but glad to hear it's probably a sort of 'nornal' event rather than a C event. What a relief.!!!!!
Susan, I now recall what I didn't before..........that I'm so anxious ( as I have so much family here ) to get to that point where we all can share in some very therapeutic uplifting laughter that melts much of the tension that has and will continue for awhile to characterize how life goes for my family right now.
That is going to be a very precious thing and knowing my family--as well as all my precious friends will get to expend a huge sigh of relief is a fantastic goal to set my eye and heart on. I'm so glad you shared those moments with all of us. It made a great impression on me..........and oh how I love to laugh anyway.
Talk to ya'll later.
Jackie
