Morning!  Or I guess Afternoon!  My laptop died yesterday, or at least I think it is dead.  Windows won't turn on so DH will take it with him tomorrow and have the school district's hotshot take a peek.  I guess time to get a new one!!!!  Also....I am probably going to dump AOL and have opened a new account on SBC global and moved everything over there.  If I try it out and like it over the next week or so I will email Laura the new account.

JulieB....sounds like maybe, just maybe....this will do the trick!  You sure have been thru it all, you and your DH...and hopefully this is done.  I sure hope you come on Wed. night....would love to meet you!

Craig's lIst???  I will have to check that out....I have a basement full of junk (ooops...I mean treasures) that perhaps I can bear to part with!

Sure hope Jackie is having the time of her life!

Pouring here....time to get moving and cleaning downstairs...just wanted to check in with my buds!

    Hello:

Dark and dreary here in Chi-town!  I was thrown back to my own treatment days when Wendy the younger mentioned that she forgot to eat steak.  I know the original gang has heard this before, but  here it is again.  I ate steak, Brussels sprouts and garlicky mashed potatoes nearly ever night the week after treatment.  The same meal every night for about five days.  I so craved steak and it got to the point that I started buying beef tenderloin, which we know is outrageously expensive.  One  night, right after work, I went to my grocery story for dinner.  I picked up a chunk of beef tenderloin, my Brussels sprouts and my potatoes.  The bill for the meat alone was $62.00.  I served it and my husband just raved about it and asked how I marinated it to make it so delicious.  I never told him, as he is very conservative in his spending.  He is also the sort of person who would forgive me for indulging.

There is something to food cravings.  I now crave canteloupe and cottage cheese! I think it is important to listen to our food cravings as they could be telling us something.

    Hope all is well!

Well. Ginny, we will all be waiting to hear your news.  As we all  know, waiting is dreadful  I am just so hoping the news will be what you want to hear.  One of my students, of all people,  gave me a good quote today, although he did not know who said it.

We may fall eight times, but we get up nine times.  The falling may be be discouraging, but we all keep the hope of getting up again.

I think I am actually battering the kid's quote.  Jackie and Wendy are better at quotes than I am.  It seemed stunning when the kid used it in his Anne Frank/Holocaust project today,

Anyway Ginny, we are all here to keep you up and I sure hope you are doing okay.

Glad to hear you are doing better Julie.  You have been through the ringer.  Hard to think that the whole PICC line thing was unneccessary.  Glad to hear the antibiotics are now working.

Thinking of you Ginny and praying for good news.

    See you all Wednesday!

    Good Morning Girls,

I am back from my wonderful trip to Newport. The weather was cold and sunny but that ocean breeze was a bit sharp. It was not a good hair day with all that wind. lol. I went to the Seafood Festival this past weekend were my son was cooking lobster and shrimp dishes outside his restaurant. The dishes were so yummy. I had a wonderful time with him, shopping, sightseeing and bar hopping. I hate goodbyes and cried like a baby when I left. Oh I hate that they live so far away....this weekend off to Iowa to see dd and go to a tailgate football party. I need a vacation from all this traveling lol. Where is the beach and sand....calling Wendy..need beach pics.

I see we have been very busy here and lots of stuff going on. Wishing everyone in tx good healing thoughts.  Just a remember that the lunch bunch is meeting Weds. noc and if you would like to join us please email me. We have 9 ladies coming. The more the merrier. Just let me know if I need to change the count...

Now off to the shower and work today. Will ck back tonoc. I hope everyone has a great day.

Enjoy the nice weather as old man winter will be upon us soon enough.

    Remember to be healthy..be happy.

Morning!  I sure do hate being without the laptop...is much faster!

Blackjack...here is your beach pic of the day!  Sounds like you had a wonderful time...looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

And...in honor of Jackie's absence, a quote I read yesterday...

"life is challenging  but we saddle up anyway"...John Wayne

Ginny....sending good thoughts your way and a huge hug!

Karin...good to hear from you...I did miss you!

Susan...just out of curiosity...was that $62. for ONE piece of tenderloin?  Wow.  This is one cut I never buy...no butchers out here in South Elgin!  I'd love to try that once.

Time to run...have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi!  I am looking for a doctor for a second opinion. I am in North Central Illinois About 100 miles SW of Chicago.  Brief history-had a ductal excision for discharge in May (5 papillomas removed), lump found in July - palable - but not shown on imaging.  Just had MRI - waiting for results - discharge has started again. Strong family history, maternal grandmother + 2 or her sisters, my mom has a stage 0 lumpectomy and is taking something other than tamoxin for the next 4 years now.  I had one maternal aunt die at 40 from BC and another get it at a later age and also die from it in her early 60's (she must have been in her 50's).....I am 37....I have posted more on the not diagnosed but worried board....My surgeon can not see me until 12/30/08 and as we all know waiting sucks - so if I could get a nice dr. who won't blow me off becuase I am young - it would be great....

    Good evening, gals!

Just wanted to tell you all to have a good time tomorrow night.  I will be thinking about you as I'm chasing around the 8th graders at Youth Group tomorrow night!  Really wish I could join you!  Like Michele says, take pictures!!!!!

Yea Karin!  So good to hear from you!

Thinking of you tomorrow, Ginny.  Let me know how it goes and if there is anything I can do for you.

JulieB...things are looking up now!  Yea!!!!  You just keep improving!

Hello to all you other gals!  Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the last days of Fall.

I've been swamped this week as I'm presenting at the IESA Schoastic Bowl Convention on Friday and I've been trying to put together a presentation that won't put everyone to sleep.  I'll be able to relax more and connect better when it is done!

    Catch you all later.

Aftenoon all.....I WANT MY LAPTOP BACK!!!!!!  Geek buddy has the flu so it might not be until next week.  And if I went out and bought a new one (which I am going to do anyway) I still wouldn't be able to figure out the router!!!!  Oh well.....

Mic101...so glad you didn't go "poof" yesterday!  I guess that means I have a good chance on not doing the same!!!

Lissa...did you need a 2nd for bc?  Or a 2nd for surgery...as in a surgeon's opinion???  My 2nd was wonderful....a Dr. Kaklamani at Northwestern.  Please let us know...I'm sure we can get you some names.  Waiting until 12/30???  OK...that is truly unacceptable for anyone, least of all for you with your family hx!

    Looking forward to tonight....Yum!  Pizza!

Ginny - You should be out of surgery by now...hope all went well. Take it easy... keep us posted.

Lissa71 - Hope you get some answers soon...I don't live anywhere near you so I can't help with doctor info. Keep us posted...hang in there! Don't let them push you around. Even if you have to travel to Chicago or surrounding suburbs - just for a 2nd opinion - I think it would be worth it! Best wishes...

Hi girls...this weather is really depressing. I go through this every year...don't handle the transition from summer to almost winter, very well. It's even worse come January. Cry I'm trying to talk myself into coming tonight...you girls are always so uplifting... I have a 4:30 appt this afternoon at Nordstroms to get fitted for my annual Mast bras and a new set of proths... how fun (I met my deductible and my ins will pay for all). I wish I was going there to shop for regular ol' sexy bras! The kind I used to be able to wear! Oh well... maybe the sun will come out sometime soon. Hope you're all doing well.

    Hey, Laura,

Please come tonight! You need some cheering up girlfriend, and we are the group who can do it. The transitioning weather, and new bra shopping....too much. Come have a glass of wine, and good conversation. You'll feel better after!

    Hugs, Pat

Hi!  I am looking for a second opinion & another surgeon.  I would like to be reassured that the lump is truly nothing and I know I am going to need another duct excision/biopsy to stop the discharge. My doctor (gyn) still does not have my MRI results and it was a week yesterday.  I am just frustrated with this whole thing.  I am leaking again and it has only been 5 months since my last surgery and my dr. (gyn) thinks they are going to make me get another ductogram and that was worse than the surgery.....(yes I am whining and i know most of you have been through hell and back....so sorry)

AS for where - I will travel towards chicago, rockford etc. - I just want a doctor to listen to my concerns, address them and then take care of business.  I need a little hand holding every now and then.  But for the most part I am pretty strong - but occassionally I come unglued.

Karin - I know, I've been terrible with the pics.  I still have dial-up & none of the photo sites seem to be friendly with it.  I'm having the cable co. come to upgrade us next week (at least that's my plan!)  A friend is coming by tomorrow to coach me on the Kodak software too.  So - as soon as I am edu-muh-cated, I will try to share some pics.

Laura - I'm with you.  Today it is so cold & blustery (though at least the sun was out earlier).  I get pretty cranky & depressed when it's gray & cold out there.

Had my consult for the exchange surgery today; nurse said my limitations are the SAME as the BMX.   Say what????!!!    Yep - no lifting, stretching, reaching...for 2-3 weeks.  etc. etc.    Bleh. I didn't know I'd be a housebound invalid again.. at least it was summer when I had the BMX - I could go outside & sit in the sun.    Okay, done venting Embarassed   At least there will be no drains!

Have fun at Lou's tonight ladies.  I won't be joining you because I am B-R-O-K-E!!!!!

    Hugs, Cinderella (JulieA)

    Lissa,

I can only imagine how hard it would be to have to wait so long for an appointment. I have a very good surgeon, though her location is not ideal for you. PM me if you would like her number. I am sure you would be seen much sooner than the end of December. Hang in there, and we never mind when you need to vent!

Smerf I agree......Laura you just have to go tonight!!! Remember how much the girls can cheer you up! ( even when you don't want to cheer up!)

Lissa, I'm no help w/ a second opinion... But you are welcome to vent...rant.... rave.... whatever We are here for you!

Morning everyone!  Sure was great to see everyone last night.  Of course, Blackjack the party planner did a great job making it a fall festive night with her awesome decorating.

Lissa - I also LOVE my surgeon.  He was on top of everything and I had my MRI results in a couple days and my biopsy results the next day.  He is in Naperville - Dr. Louis Montana. PM me if you would like his number. You should not have to wait until December.

It's cold out!  I'm actually looking forward to my next hot flash!

    Have a great day!

Hi Girlz...Well I have to say...last night was really fun! I was soooooooooo down in the dumps b/4 I went. blackjack called and said if I didn't go, she was coming and dragging me out of my house. I told her I would be there after my prosth fitting at Nordstrom. She didn't believe me! lol So she, with Pat in tow showed up in the Nordstrom bra dept. dressing room! lol They kidnapped me and drove me to the rest. lol How sweet! My new prosths and bras...whoa! I am a very full C cup...will take a little getting used to, but I look forward to flaunting - "my little secrets". lol

Everyone looks really great and healthy! We ate lots of salad and pizza.

Lisamed - So glad you joined us - it was great to meet you!

Of course, blackjack was in true fashion with her adorable pumpkin favors at each place setting at the rest.

    Here's a photo...

This shows that I truly have WAY TOO MUCH TIME on my hands. I was practising Photoshop this morning, so I retouched our photo and gave us all face lifts! lol (I know...I have to keep practising! But it was fun! lol)
