    Good morning, everyone!

Wendy, I burned my finger yesterday when I tried to make a cuo of tea. I thought, what a klutz am I, but reading now about your DH I don't feel so bad. I'm still laughing, but ouch, that door need some padding. It wasn't too long ago when he was attacked by a zipper, if I remember correctly. The poor man needs some adult supervision!

Thank you so much, Blackjack for the best first annual Xmas part ever! All your hard work is greatly appreciated, and you too Wendy and Laura.

Welcome to Jan, the nurse. I'm a nurse too, and so are some others. Glad you found this group, as ladies here are the best!

JulieChicago...I'm still smiling at your little Dork! Kids are the most fun.

Juliet...Hang in there. Glad you saw you doc.

Susan  So happy to see you at the gathering, and I shared you illegal turn problem the first time I went to that Wildfire. So much traffic on Higgins when I don't quite know where I'm going.

Sharon....We missed you, but I'm thinking of you, and hoping you feel better soon. Sending hugs and positive vibes your way.

It was so nice to meet Ginny, LittleC, WendyTY, and Carol {berrypatch.} It's nice to get to know you all in person.

    JanClare...Thanks for posting the pics.

Rita Thanks so much for starting this lovely group, and for being so welcoming.

MaryJane...So nice to see you again, and so happy the weather held out for your long trip.

Connie...Your smile lights up the room. Have a great time at Disney, and let us know how the lines go.

Leesa...You look happier now than ever. I'm so glad to see that. So happy things are working out so well for your DD too.

Have to do a little cleaning and shopping today. Have a wonderful weekend, and let's enjoy the warmer temps outside.

Hey, Mich101,  You are so NOT fat! You look beautiful, and I love your new hair color. It's fun to try something different once in awhile, and life's too short to not have fun!

    Hi all:

We just cleaned up after all the baking and my grandbaby is napping and the girls are cleaning up and I am pooped. BlackJack, glad you are looking into that rib.  When one of us is in pain, we all are hurting.

I like the idea of a bowling party. We did that for my husband on his 60th and invited all of our bowling-challenged friends.  We had fun games my PE teacher arranged for us (Yahtze Bowling) where even one pin going down can go towards the team's score. Rita could show us how to really bowl!

    So have a great Saturday!

Darn, I typed out a long message but it got lost in cyber space! Oh well.......

Wendy - I think you guys should have your own reality show!!

And where is this silliness about Mich101 & the word "fat" coming from ?  I think I missed how that all started.  That's as funny as Rita saying she looked fat when taking pics at the luncheon!   You guys look freakin' fabulous.  Heck - if you guys are fat, then I want to be fat too.  Kiss

Susan - it was such a pleasure to meet you & talk to you.   And you have GORGEOUS hair.

I had an interesting evening - an old friend decided to "break up with me" via email, because she said I am not there for her enough lately.  Sigh.  Apparently I haven't been wanting to go out enough,  come visit, or able to drive if we did go out  (ummmm cancer?  ummmm surgery???  Ummmm..hmmmmm.....)  I'm kind of relieved, to be honest.   I wasn't happy with things lately.

I consider it a blessing that I met all of you ladies & I hope that we will always be BC sisters, and friends too.   You guys are nice to me even when I'm down, dumpy, depressed, crabby - which is a lot lately Embarassed

Ok, I'm going to shut up now.      Hey how do you like my new avatar?    heehee.  It makes me smile.     Hugs, Peace, and Cheers - "juliet"

Hi everyone. It sounded like the party was wonderful this past week. There has been a lot going on (via the posts) and it is always so good to get caught up! I am on #17 out of 33 rads. The plan is that my last day will be January 7.

Happy Birthday Wendy and Little C.

JULIET:  Sorry about your friend dumping you but what the heck, we will all try if possible to fill the gap.  It's wonderful here and always will be because no one is more important than anyone else -- meaning I think your friend would dump the rest of us too.  I bet most of us have had a 'friend' maybe even a family member or someone we didn't suspect move away from us.  Because make no mistake.....it is all about us while we are fighting the big fight.  I almost have trouble believing anyone could be so shallow as to think YOU are not supportive enough right now and didn't you just have a wedding as well.  Just how much strength are you supposed to have my dear.  I'd be waving bye so hard my arm would be sore for a week.  Now THERE ----  I have my petulant side and boy is it showing..............and my arm hurts.

Forgot to tell you....I really do like your avatar.  It's cheerful to look at.

Susan.....bowling---sounds like fun but I would probably have to be a cheerleader.  My thumbs are so large that when I find a ball that will fit them I can't pick it up.  I have short dumpy fingers and the thumbs --- what was God thinking.  Looks like someone grabbed the wrong pair at the last minute.  I'm accustomed now but some problems are posed.

Jule...lucky you.  Only 16 more rads to go and your're done.  They will go quick.  How is your skin doing?????  Be faithful with your lotion.  I forgot two or three times but I don't think it made a whole lot of difference overall.  I did get a bit toasty the last few days but these wonderful ladies here helped me out by sending their left-over lotions.

Pat, I too am very anxious to meet all of you.  I must say though no matter how verbose I am here, I often turn shy and somewhat quiet when I'm around people.  See, I have more imperfections than just fat thumbs.

A bit gloomy looking outside and the wind has really been up.  Those warmer temps are ok, but harder to notice than I had hoped.

Hope you will all have a wonderful cozy evening and are able to just relax.

    A DOG'S RULES FOR CHRISTMAS
    - Christmas is for humans, and I will not ruin the surprises by
    opening all their presents.
    - Christmas light bulbs, Christmas ornaments, Christmas stockings, and
tinsel from the Christmas tree are not food.
    - I am the alpha dog, therefore I do not need to protect my new
Christmas rawhide from the omega dog by taking it outside to eat when
the wind chill is -10 F.
    - I will not demolish the Christmas tree and drag the string of lights
out into the backyard through the doggy door.
    - I will not dive into the Christmas tree to get the candy canes
(which I would eat -- paper and all, then puke on the presents).
    - I will not eat my Christmas doggie treats until after they're out of
    the stocking!
    - I will not even THINK about going underneath the Christmas tree or
piddling on the dining room rug.
    - I will not get into a fight with the bigger dog next door, making my
human have to call the vet's at Christmas.
    - I will not get tangled up in the Christmas tree lights and pull the
tree down while trying to get at a cat through the conservatory window.
    - I will not pee on Grandma's Christmas presents that are under her
tree as soon as we enter her house.
    - I will not pee on the Christmas tree.
    - I will not steal the neighbor's Christmas light bulbs.
    - The bowl underneath the Christmas tree is not a dog dish. I will not
drink from it. It will make me sick.

This is for all of us dog lovers......or maybe I should say pet lovers.

Jackie - thank you so much for your reply to my post.  I really truly appreciate it. You made me feel even better about the whole thing.   Yep - BUH BYE to her.  I am realizing she is the one who is self-centered (she kept telling me I was selfish.)

And I enjoyed your "Dog's Rules for Christmas"....  I remember one year, I brough Buster to Brian's grannie's house.  He walked in, and immediately lifted his leg & peed on this big angel figurine, LOL.  It was kind of funny - thankfully it was the basement floor & not her carpet.

The weather has taken an icky turn - so we are hunkered down inside with a DVD tonight. And perhaps a beer :)    Maybe 2, cuz they're small.... haha!!

    Cheers, Juliet

Morning!  WARM out...but listening to the weather it should be a very interesting week.  Snow, cold,  snow, and then more snow.

Jackie...more details on the house cleaning for John Travolta, please!

Juliet....that friend of yours sounds like she was no friend, but an acquaintance you can certainly do without.  But it is sad, isn't it?  Just another thing that BC has taken away...or...maybe something that BC has taught us?  NOt to waste the time we have left on people who just aren't worth the effort.  I didn't say that exactly right...but I think you know what I meant.

Smerf...sorry about your finger!  DH and I have had no more adventures and yes, he was the "zipper boy"!

Karin...loved the lights on your house!

Carol/berrypatch...how is chemo treating you so far?

Blackjack...how's the rib pain?  Are you baking up N, or at home?

Jan....hopefully you are resting up and will post soon.

LittleC...how are you?  Get any results?

Boy...is the wind howling!  I'm off to get another cup....I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

    Good Windy Morning everyone:

Can't believe that wind -- gusts up to 40 miles per.  Well, that is what will get us started after another fairly warm day to the yucky stuff.  Sounds very much like we will be having ice storms to a degree.  Tell the truth I slept in this a.m. and only caught a brief portion of the weather report.

Don't we know Wendy --- people do leave our life --- and I sometimes wonder about this......are they leaving because they are not getting the attention they have always craved from us, but in reality from those who have been around both of us.  Case in point --- my sister-in-law who started our past problems with her brother.  Dave since ( fairly recently ) went to Sears and had coffee with Denny.  He apparently GOT over it.  Denny told me to send Dave his new email address --- which is basically mine too.  I sent it saying---I have been instructed to forward this address to you.  I put in Denny's address and underneath said Happy Thanksgiving.   I feel far from over this incident.  I don't want to be mean or small-minded but feel this was a life lesson for me.............nothing OBLIGATES you to put up with anyone --- even relatives who are so into themselves that they cause you problems or make demands while degrading the person you are.  In this case we just happen to have had a very nasty life-threatening disease process we are working to overcome.....but that is just an aspect of who we are.  I wish Denny's family well and have, since a short while after this incident ---- but a part of me still feels a little of that sting from our being told not to come over to my BIL's house...we were not welcome.

I feel we are given opportunities to see things about our life ---  and when we do there is also the opportunity to change things.  So, I do see this as an opportunity to move past people who have an agenda replete with strong reactions that they don't control well and that will cause me anxiety, despair, hurt and anger.  This is not anything I need in my life. So I just decided to avail myself of this opportunity to stop spending time around anyone---no matter who----that could be too easily inspired to put me into a position like that.

In view of that.....I'm going to find us a quote later, but I am putting a link in here from a piece on YouTube that my dear friend Ed sent me this morning.  If you are ever feeling down about where you are  in life.... just meet this man.

    Turn your wounds into wisdom.
    Oprah Winfrey

OOH that wind.  You know....I'm going to have to work on getting that crazy stuff out of what I send....table---body etc.  I hate that.  In case anyone was not able to get the piece to come up from YouTube.....it's of a man with essentially no arms or legs who is able to do anything he really wants too------this after he figured out that if he just let go and LET GOD ---- in other words just found his own human spirit to achieve instead of living a life of despair which as we know is not a life, that he would and could be as happy and successful as anyone else.  That is what he chose --- inspiration over desperation------it was what I was telling Carol......if you allow yourself to go all the way to the bottom of something --- maybe that was this man's total despair....you have gotten as low as you can and the only way is up from that point......and he did not go half way.  He has come all the way up.

Anyway have a great day today....no matter who or what.

Hi Girls...hope you're all having a good weekend...resting, recooperating, decorating...whatever the case may be...

Shelby's here for the weekend...helping us decorate. dh cooked dinner for us two girls last night and he made our FAV appetizer - cheese fondue with apples and bread chunks for dipping... yum!

My Mom visited last week... did lots of shopping. It's great that everything is melting... after a while snow looks so dirty... I only like to look at it when it's newly fallen.

I read through all the posts...laughed ALOT and am hoping those who are still on the dreaded roller coaster ride through bc land, will be okay - hang in there!

Have lots to do today...may head over to the Lake County Flea market...

Morning everyone.  It has warmed up outside, but because of the wind it feels colder than ever!

Juliet - sorry to hear about your "friend".  I know it's hard to do, but try to put her out of your mind.   Considering how you are always coming on this thread encouraging everyone, it's obvious you are not selfish.

Hope your rib is getting better Blackjack.

Jule - glad to hear you will be ending rads soon!

Jan - great news on the negative nodes!

Wendy - What can I say - love your stories!  Hope DH is ok.

My daughter has come down with a cold.  9 days before we leave for Florida.  Hopefully it won't hit the rest of us right before we leave!

Julie B - loved the Dork story!

Big smiles to everyone for a great day!

Hi everyone-hope you all had a great weekend.

Just to clarify, a week or so ago I commented that I was gaining weight and wondering whether it could have been from the tamoxifen, or menopause. I don't know how this 'FAT' discussion got going, but thanks for all the compliments! Smile I am sticking with  Susan's 3 suggestions: Eat a good breakfast, be more active, and nothing to eat after 7:00 pm!!!

Juliet-sorry about your friend "of honor". You are a sweet person and life's too short to have someone like that around.

    Jan-Yeah on your neg. nodes!

JulieB-Kids say the funniest things. Be sure to write them down because later in life it is funny to read them back.

Connie-hope your DD gets well soon, and that the rest of your family doesn't catch it.

CarolBerrypatch- Wishing you a wonderful Birthday tomorrow. Enjoy your day and I hope your SE's  are minimal. Let us know how you're doing.

Wow!  It's been a busy weekend on the boards.  I have some catching up to do tomorrow.  We are back from Tennessee.  It was a fast, whirlwind trip.  Believe it or not, they had snow and it was colder there than it was here this weekend.

I hope everyone is getting toward the end of your shopping, baking, cards, etc.  It's not long now until that magical day!

Catch you all tomorrow.  Did you make it to the Flea Market, Laura?  That's one of my favorite things to do!!!

    Good Morning everyoneSmile

We have quite the nasty weather outside but somehow it is not affecting my mood.  Dh said that it poured incredible amounts of rain after I went to sleep last night  That is testament to the fact that I usually sleep quite good once I get there.  He said ( we have a metal roof ) it was deafening on the roof....no wonder I heard nothing.  This a.m. as we were outside tending to the dogs ( they have a large heated doghouse ) we got pelted with sleet --- sort of large actually.  Had it been much warmer I would have thought small hail.

Rita, sure glad you enjoyed Tennessee and are back safe and sound.  Seemed like the weather report today talked about some of Tennessee being w/o power from a major ice storm and that it might be some time before power was back.  We have it lucky---N. Dakota is 9 below and the wind chill is not factored into that.  I'll try to remember that when I'm outside trembling from the cold.

Tom Cruise was back on the Today show news this morning.  Seemed much nicer than his last appearance.  I really stopped liking TC as a PERSON after that interview.  Matt Lauer is a news-person ( Dh does not like him actually so ended up not liking either ) who was just trying to do his job and TC just verbally over-rode him.  You can wipe anyone out if you DEMAND information you know they don't have in a loud positive voice. So, I'm happy now.

Well, time for me to get moving.  Hope you all enjoyed the week-end. Your all in my thoughts, always.

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

    Hi all:

This is nothing like the great Monday I spent one week ago with you all.  I am home sick with a terrible cold.  My DH is sick too and we are so pathetic...trading pills and moaning and groaning. He finally called his doctor and they said he has an infection (sinus???).  I never get secondary infections after colds, so I am waiting.  I did manage to get myself to the grocery store to get litter as my cat's box was horrendous and she is particular.  I felt so odd  in the store as my head is all clogged up.  Being on the couch all day reminds me of chemo.  Nothing is sweeter than good health!

Glad you had a nice trip to Tennesses, Rita.

Julie, hope your kids are hanging in with good health.  I just pray I did not infect my grandaughter last Saturday.  Juliette, I am sorry that your friend has abandoned you.  I had a friend who did that to me for some reason she understood, but I never knew and she never shared it. I did something that hurt her and she could not tell me what it was.  I loved her so dearly, however, that after a year of separation (actually my daughter's wedding broke the ice) we got back together and we are now best friends.  She had some emotional issues but I accept her for whatever she has.  If the friendship has substance, and you can love her in spite of her failings, and she can accept you as you are, then the friendship will come back and be stronger.  If not, then, it just it is what it is.  I know it is painful all the same.

Hope the rib is okay, BlackJack.  Mine was huritng with all the coughing and I was getting paranoid I would "crack" mine....whatever that means.

Sta well and take some viatamin C.

Susan, you sound like this is about as bad as you can be.  I'm so sorry that you have come down with these colds----for some reason I feel like it's always worse when the weather is this rotten.  You too need to take your vitamin C.  If it's true that misery loves company than I'm glad you have each other. Hopes it wears out rather quickly for both of you.

Long day today in Carbondale.  We attempted to do a little shopping but I could not find anything that 'seemed' right so we came home empty-handed.  Did stop at Staples in Mt. Vernon.  My printer gave out about three or four weeks ago and Dh said we would stop on the way home.  It was so  cold and blustery I was not really in the mood but went ahead anyhow.

Won't know the results of my tests for a bit.  They decided to have Good Samaritan send my X-rays back ( for comparison purposes ) to these.  Grrr....but I feel they will be fine anyway Good Samaritan is in Mt. Vernon....hope it doesn't take too long.  Truth telling I'll probably forget all about it as I have lots to do the next few days.

Well, I'm going to let Dh install my printer so I'm going for now.........but your all in my thoughts, all the tx ladies, all those with sore ribs or muscles or whatever.  I'll talk to you again soon

Today was a busy day.  Rita and I started walking again!  I had a job interview that went really well.  Did a little shopping and cleaning.  Then made dinner and cookies.  Now I'm relaxing.  It's so hard not to get carried away now that I am feeling better again.  Oh, I forgot the most exciting part of the day.  I had my first hair cut!  Not that she had to cut a lot.  But it's a nice milestone to celebrate.

Berrypatch - Happy Birthday!  Glad to hear that you are doing well.  I will be thinking about you tomorrow.  Remember, have fun with it!

Wendy - I agree with Juliet.  You need your own reality show.  I hope his is okay.

JulieB - Loved your story about your son.  I'm still laughing.

    Susan - Feel better soon.

Jackie - I love your attitude.

Juliet - Sorry to hear about your old friend.  It's always heart breaking to lose a friend.

Michele - Thanks for sharing Susan's words of wisdom.  I'm struggling with the weight I put on during chemo.

Connie - Stay healthy.  I'm so jealous that you are going to Florida.  I think I need a little warm weather and sunshine.

Jan - Glad to hear that the nodes were negative!  Hoping the final report will also be good.

Smerf - It was great to meet you as well.  How's the finger?

All - Hope you had a wonderful day.  I'm off to bed alone.  My husband got called into work at 9pm.  Tomorrow is his birthday.  He'll probably sleep through it.

Happy Birthday Carol: glad to see that you got to spend it with love one's. I hope you ate lots of cake and made a big birthday wish.!!

I had just about a bad day as I could have. I should join Wendy with her adventures. Today while I was upstairs I heard this loud boom. Sounded like and explosion..looked around didn't see anything. I open up my closet and low and behold the entire 8ft top rack rack and clothes where on the floor. On top of that there is a huge long crack in the dry wall. The wire rack pulled all the dry wall off. Dh was soooooo mad. I just told him it was poor insulation. So now I have to fine a dry waller to fix this. To noc my Christmas tree burned out. The plug melted in the surge protector.. so no lights on the tree. Thank god I smelled the burning plug it could have been worse if I was not at home. So Santa will have to use a flash light to see my tree. lol

I hope everyone is having a better noc them me.

Susan... hope your cold is better. rest and drink lots of tea.

Jackie... do love your new quote book.

Rita.. glad you are home safe and had a nice time with family.

Connie..I hope the kids get better before their trip.. Disney what fun.

JulieB.. kids are sooo funny. loved your dork story.

Juliet...don't worry about your friend. she is the one missing out. There is a reason why some people come into our lives and some leave. Just enjoy the moment even if it is for a little while.

Wendy.. where are you.. still celebrating that bday lol

Have a great night...off to the couch..

    Remember to be healthy...be happy.

Well, I just have to brag....Because it's my birthday, Jim had another surprise in store for me.  I came out into the living room after being on the computer.  Jim has shaved his head so that we could be bald together!!!!  I was laughing and crying at the same time, I didn't KNOW which way was up!  But to tell you the truth, I think that he looks very handsome.  I am so touched by this gesture!  I love that man!

    Goodnight!    {{{{HUGS}}}} to all!  Carol

Morning.  Cold, snow, more cold....and I have a cold!  Blech.

Susan...sorry you are ailing and for you to skip school you must be feeling down and out.  Hey...a question....isn't your daughter having a new baby soon???

Rita...glad your trip was fun, and safe!

Blackjack...IMO you were VERY lucky re: the tree.  I don't leave the trees on BUT I do have lights in the windows on timers.  I am thinking maybe it's time to stop that as well.  If you do need a drywaller, maybe Juliet's DH knows one!  Just an idea....and...how's the rib?

Carol.berry patch....awwwwww...your guy sounds like a keeper!  Glad your BD was great and that so far chemo is "doable".

WendyTY...sounds like you are back!!!!  I'm proud of you to keep exercising in the midst of all these cookies.  I love cookies!

Smerf...how's your burn?  Just a few weeks ago I burned my forehead with the curling iron.  I put it away.

No new adventures here at the loony bin.  I am off to shower and to try to exercise a little and run some errands and then I am going home.  Strange cold...a little symptom here, a little symptom there  but talk about being sneezy!  Oh well...could be a LOT worse!  Stay warm and be careful driving later....

Be sure it is just a cold.  I went from bad to worse, as did DH.  I awoke with the worse earache and now chills.  There is a sinus infection thing going around.  I am sitting on my couch waiting for 7:30 as my doctor has a walkin clinic for one hour every morning.  I will probably be waiting with a bunch of people feeling wretched like I do.

This is a scary sickness, so take care of yourselves.
