Hi EveryoneLaughing  I'm happy that yesterdays snow melted off, but it is still pretty cool outside.  When I don't put a d on the end of coo....it does seem a little more tolerable.  I'll just have to think.......this is what gives us such a bountiful, beautiful Spring.....the fact that all the trees and bushes and green growing things go to sleep for a few months while Ole' Man Winter takes over for them.  Now there --- I feel better already.

The sun is out bright and Dh has the day off.  Wonder what project will get started today.  Slept in till almost 7 a.m.  That was nice and a rare event.  Will either pep us up or work in reverse and we will drag around all day.  I hope you all are having beautiful sunshine, uplifted spirits and will have a sharing, caring day.  See you all later.

    Jackie

p.s.  Wendy, I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed watching the skating bear.  I bet Karin is loving it too.

WendyTY - dang, I'm sorry to hear that you are sick! What a bummer.  I hope you feel well soon, and I really hope I'll get to meet you on Monday; but if you are feeling icky, stay home & rest!!  The most important thing is your health.

Mich101 - you are right - Buster just runs out for a quick #1 & that's it.  No need for his fancy coats. He's been a good boy & doing his #2 on the "piddle pads" in the powder room.  We are very pround of him!

We've got a good snow cover here in Schaumburg.  And more on the way starting Monday night.  They say we've got a winter storm warning.  Is it just me, or is it snowing a lot earlier in the season this year ?  If I remember correctly, we didn't even have snow on the ground for Christmas.     Hmmmmm!

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow :)   "Juliet"

    Morning Everyone!!!!!!

Wendyty...hope you are feeling better.  It would be a bummer if you can't go.

    Rita....yeah on the good news....what a relief.

Blackjack...thanks for all your planning for the lunch.  I am looking forward to it.  How many people are coming???????

Nothing new with me.  Just trying to stay warm.  Going to go out today and pick up some stuff and come back home and do Christmas cards and bake cookies, fudge and whatever else I come up with.  I hope to see everyone tomorrow....

WendyTY, I am sorry you are not feeling good.  I hope that as of now, things are better.  Do not fret about Monday.   Do what feels okay to do.  No one wants you to be there if you are feeling poorly.  We just want you to feel well.

Went to a family Christmas party and am now somewhat inspired to start decorating.  I actually consider myself a "fun" person but I hate the clutter of all the decorations.  I LOVE admiring other people's clutter, however, so out with the boxes so my family can enjoy ours.  I have made a few batches of cookies, so I am not a total scrooge.

I am sure I will be there tomorrow, yet later.  Thank you ladies, for being so generous with your time. Last time I saw some of you was Starved Rock last summer.  I loved that day!

Michele, I hope you ate that brownie in the end.  I was eating ice-cream at ten last night. It is so hard to keep good habits around this time of year.  I actually should be ashamed of myself.  My school actually has a workout room with all this great equipment. there is something about being a sweat ball at your place of work.

    Have a glorious day!

Hello to everyone.....I am SO happy I came across this topic.....I am in Downers Grove Illinois one of the western suburbs of Chicago, a nurse, diagnosed 5 days ago and scared to death.

All I know at this stage is that my tumor is 1.1cm, Stage 1 , and the surgeon says most likely a Grade 2, I am scheduled for surgery this Friday Dec 12th, a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy , have an appt with a radiation oncologist this weds to discuss Brachytherapy vs. traditional radiation....I am usually the person helping everyone else and right now I feel pretty vulnerable and in very foreign territory. I hope to become a part of this group, I am 59 years old and a grandma to 3 wonderful little boys, my family and friends are being incredible but the one missing thing is not knowing anyone who says they understand and really does.

Wish me luck this Friday !!! Happy to have found this spot.....

    Wow, Jan,

Many of us just got together today for the holidays in Schaumburg.  It probably would have been too much for you at this stage of the game, as there were about 17 there, but you have come to a great place and you can get lots of support.

Yup, we get it.  I will be thinking about you on December 12 and good for you for getting that shortened radiation.  For some reason I wasn't eligible for that, or maybe the hospital just didn'tr have it.

    Ladies,

I had so much fun.  Thanks, thanks, thanks.  Everyone looks great and healthy (although some are short on feeling great right now).  I am just so thrilled I survived that Higgens Road illegal exit on my part and got to see you all.  Love you all and cannot wait to do this again.

Jan- Big (((HUGS))) to you.  I'm so sorry that you have to fight this battle, but glad that you found us!  We will be here for you, if you wish, through thick and thin.

Girls, the  lunch was beyond Fabulous!  Blackjack did an outstanding job, the food was wonderful, and it was just marvelous to be with everyone.   I've created an album at smug mug of the photos:

Hey girls...today was just wonderful.  Blackjack...how can we ever thank you for all you did!  From the food to the tables to the little presents...wow.  What a day!

Jan....I am so sorry that you had to join our little club, but glad too that you found this thread.  It was a lifesaver for me, and I don't say that lightly.  You are where I was about 2 years ago.  I had my lumpectomy, had to have chemo due to being Her2+, did rads and finished up my year of Herceptin last January and am now on arimidex for another 3.5 yrs.  It's so scary right now...all these things/thoughts, whirling around in your head.  I wish I could find some words that would comfort you but please know that we have all been where you are right now, today and we do know EXACTLY how you feel!  You have found about 25 new best friends, should you want us!  Please let us know what we can do.  If you so choose....you can PM your personal info such as full name, add, phone #'s etc to LauraGTO and then she will PM you back (or email so be sure to include that as well...if you so choose!) all of our personal info.  I am a nurse as well, but no longer working and we have several other nurses too...we know about that always helping other people thing!  Who'd ever thought we would be the ones to get the "beast"!  I wish you much luck on Friday but I am sure you will be fine...as you are having your lumpectomy on my birthday!  What more luck do you need!!!!!!!

So many things to say...but I'll just post a group pic.  Glad to see Susan made it home after her little (LITTLE????????) illegal turn!!!

I'll see if I get this right....

front row from left:  Susan (zap), WendyTY (the younger), Rita (our queen and founder), Julieb (akaka Juliechicago, and Leesa

back row from left:  MaryJane, Carol (berrypatch), JulieA (aka as Juliette Princess), Laura GTO, Wendy, Ginny, Mich101, JanClare, Little C (another Carol), Pat (smerf, or Tricia!), Connie and Blackjack (Michele)

I have more pics which I will post...but did you ever see such a happy group...a smile on every face!

Hey Jan....come and join us!  We will help you along this journey.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not an on-coming train!

Jan Clare THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for the pics!!!!

Nurse Jan, sorry you had to find us, but this has to be the greatest group of women!!

Wendy love the skating bear! My "vamps" had been quiet till they decided to hang Christmas lights @ 10 PM using the car headlights as a spotlight! And what married couple can put up lights with out yelling?!!!!

Glad we don't have a camera in our garage....am sure my DH would put the "movie" on Utube or something!!!....I was TRYING to leave for work, the garage door would not open more than 2 feet, I tried the opener several times but no luck, so I pulled the emergency release... The door came down with a LARGE BANG!!!! Try as I might I couldn't get the door open...I called DH stomping my feet "I'm stuck in the garage and can't get out!!! I want out!!" He was laughing so hard I'm surprised he didn't get into a wreck!!! It did take 2 of us to get the door open..

    Have to run

Will try to check in tomorrow!!

What can I say! BLACKJACK - you did a FAB job decorating our private room and making it EXTRA SPECIAL... It was gorgeous... thank you for your hard work... it truly showed! The plants, the centerpieces, the decor... the food... everything was awesome. Thanks so much for making our get together so wonderful.

GIRLS - it was really nice to see you all! We're all at different stages, but yet we blend and help each other in such an incredible way. It's an honor to know each of you... they say something good comes from bad... well if that's true, it's EACH and EVERYONE OF YOU!

JAN (nurse) - I'm sure you're still shaking your head wondering how the heck you're going to manage all that you've been dealt... but honestly, you will get through it all... you will have low lows but you will think about the smiling faces of your grandchildren and all will be fine. AND of course... we'll be here too! Your diagnosis is good... try to remember that each step of the way. Best wishes to you on Friday... been there, done that!   Let's all hope that Rita, MaryJane, WendyTY and Ginny have a safe trip home!

I have had so many notes of encouragement already....honest truth is it brought me to tears....imagine that ! My husband wanted me to stay off of the computer because the nurse in me doesnt always do the right processing with information I read and I tend to get even more freaked out. I already feel like one piece of the 500# weight I am carrying is gone just because I at least know there are indeed women out there who know how scared I am and how it feels to be waiting....tomorrow is my MRI, sounds somewhat disgusting but necessary, and then Weds my appt with Rad Onc....Thurs my pre op with the surgeon and Friday is the start of good bye to my unwelcome guest....breast cancer seems like a full time job right now, and despite that I am continuing to work full time and dont intend to stop . Sorry for rambling like this....I just cant thank you all enough already, and whatever brought me to this spot, THANK YOU TOO ! The picture is GREAT everyone looks very happy indeed .

Oh, Ladies, what a wonderful lunch we had. Blackjack you made it even more special. Thank you for all that you have done. And to all the other ladies, thank you too. By the way, my raffle prize was a snowman with a clear picture holder - I think I'll put a picture of all of us in it! Thanks Blackjack! The Pointsetta, chocolates, candy canes, decorations, etc - all wonderful.

Jan and Wendy-thanks for the pictures. I can't believe I left me camera in the car, at Laura's house-arghhh!

Wendy-do you know that I brought a baggy with beading supplies to show you how to make a dangle and I completely forgot to bring it out and show you. I guess I was having too much fun. Sorry, next time :(   Where has my brain gone?????

Jan(Nurse)-Welcome to our group. Sorry you have to be here. You can add this site (IL Ladies thread) as a favorite, then it's easier to find us back. Let us know if you can't find where to do this.

CarolBerryPatch-We'll all be thinking of you tomorrow. Post when you can.

Rita, Ginny, MaryJane, WendyTY-Thanks for making the trip and I hope your ride home was uneventful. It was great to see all of you.

    Enjoy your evening everyone.

    Hi Everyone

I am SO FULL!!!  Of food and of friendship!  My husband is thoroughly confused-- I have been trying to tell him about all of you. Michelle--it was just so special!  And Laura-- my daughter wants you to know that your brownies were just perfect.....I had quite the chocolate monster to clean up after.   I have been looking forward to this lunch all month and it was just great.

Jan-- I can only echo what everyone else here has said. But I work in Downer's Grove  and would be happy to meet you for lunch if you would like to speak to one of us in person?   I know everything is happening this week- but maybe a week or so after?  Hang in there...

Just a quick post to let you know that we are home!  Mary Jane should be arriving home shortly.  The day was just wonderful.  Thank you all for sharing the day with us.  Thanks to blackjack for the wonderful arrangements.  Thanks to all of you who provided the fantastic "gifties" and to Laura for the special scrapbook.  I poured over it on the way home and it brought back so many memories about this special group of ladies.  You are all so very special!

Welcome to the group, Jan.  We will help you through this journey, as we've helped each other get through it.  We do understand!

More tomorrow!  I'm tired after a long, wonderful day!  It was so good to see all of you again and to meet those that I hadn't met.

Ah computers....this is my second letter because I forgot to SUBMIT the first one, duh!!!!

Anyway....welcome Jan.  You are so right.  It is hard for others to understand about your cancer.  They try, but believe me nothing pulls the rug out from under you like this monster does.  You, like everyone here never thought it would happen to us.  Yet, I don't think anyone here thinks of themselves as particularly special.  Truly, you can do everything right and yet one day after a mammogram ( after how many that were just fine ) something shows up.  None of us will ever know why WE were chosen, but let me tell you.......this is one of the most comforting places you could be.  Right along with Wendy.....they were my Rock of Gibraltar during this past year while I was treated....most of us have our diagnosis right under our names,  I can't imagine myself being sane ( whoa, maybe I'm really not ) had I not found this place  I feel I was led here as a way to be able to share ups and downs that no one else could understand.  So, please come as often as you can.  Someone is always ready to offer a hand, a smile, share your tears,  offer encouragement...or just listen and be patient with you.

Jan Clare.....I sure hope things go ok for your Dh's cousin.  He is in my prayers.

COSMOS ???   Dang, I missed out on cocktail hour - bummer.Wink

Ladies, today was just wonderful.  I'm so glad I didn't let my poopy mood this morning  keep me at home.    Being around all of you really cheered me up.

Everything was just beautiful!!   And the food was delicious.  DH loved his pork chop & mashed potatoes.   And blackjack - believe me, he knew I didn't cook the chops, because they weren't bone dry, lol.

I had some of the brownies for dinner :)

I wasn't sure exactly who gave out which goodies (I do know some...)  so I want to just give a big collective thank you to everyone, for everything.   You all made it such a special day.

And I want to send greetings to Jan; so glad you found this group.

`Good Morning to everyone......5am and its raining like crazy but at least no snow to complicate the morning....I am off to my MRI shortly and then tomorrow the consultation with the Rad Onc , Thurs is a pre op visit, my social life isnt even this busy ! And no......I never thought I would get this.....I have been a crusader for mammograms and been religious about everything that was the right thing to do, but I also agree, that I am certainly no different than anyone else and had a very equal shot at having breast cancer.....sometimes I find myself thinking it must be a mistake :)

Hugs and thanks to each of you
