I really need the calm water as I wait for my thyroid biopsy results. The Lunch Bunch met last night and as always we had a chatty time. It was good to see everyone. Juleit... looking good as always and that new job fits you perfectly. Loved the cute dress!!
Julieb...don't worry about the colon thingy...just think about getting lighter from the prep. lol

Hi gals! It sounds like you had a good time last night. I'm so glad that you have the chance to get together every so often. Good companionship is always a plus!!
Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about hubby. I bet you've been running first one way and then the next. Hang in there! Also............YAHOO!!!!! Carol's a RAD GRAD! It is nice to finish up, isn't it? You will do fine on the Arimidex. Most of us have discovered hot to mimimize the side effects and we just put up with the little aches and pains that sometimes accompany the drug.
I have lots to do today so I'd better get moving but wanted to see how last night went! I'll be back later. I'll need a work break, I'm sure!
Donna and Buddy....hope you're both doing well today!
Rita

Mornng! Gonna be another wonderful summer-sunshiny day! Yep - the Z will be coming out today!
Laura .....OK, stop with the fairies! I cut one lawn per week and it's mine! We tried a lawn service but it just didn't work out - they were horrible. DH did offer to buy me a larger, more powerful mower tho. What a guy! (yes -he's still standing, but he walked funny for a day or 2)
Blackjack ......you so need the water! Enjoy the boating! You lucky girl! Fingers crossed for you as you wait for your bx results. Post when you can - we all care about you so much!
Rita.....I hear 2 weeks in Vegas????? Wow. I hope you have the best time ever!
Carol/berrypatch .....poor Jim! And CONGRATS on being a Rad-Grad! Isn't it glorious to be done? We missed you last night!
Jo......we missed you too! We don't give up on anyone, ever! We will be stuck with each other for the rest of our lives and personally, that is just fine with me!
Jacks.....you've really been coming up with some wonderful quotes lately! And yes, Blackjack needs one as she waits for results!
Lisamed.....your hair is sooooo cute! We all loved it! I really hope you can keep it like it was last night. So cute and it seems like for you, it's just gel-n-go! That's so great!
Juliet......you as well looked so cute in a dress last night! And you really seem happy and excited about the new job. Be sure and enjoy next week!
Julieb......don't have any extra advice for you re: your upcoming tx's but Smerf and Blackjack really had some food for thought. It's just that you have your mind set on everything and it would be difficult to switch gears now. But if you are really not that happy with the doc, maybe????? In either case, wishing you luck on your decision. Keep the kid-stories coming - hilarious!
Smerf....really great to see you! And your arms! With no weight lifting???? Wow! Glad too that DH is almost totally recovered. And by that, glad for you mostly!
Donna.....three down, 1 to go! YAY!!!!!!!
Budders.......when do you start your chemo? When will they decide re: rads?
Elfsong......how are you? Still moving?
Time to shake my tail feathers and get myself to the gym - I WANT SMERF'S ARMS !!!!!!!!
Have a wonderful, happy, sunshiny day everyone!
(PS: my neighbors decided that buying a bug zapper and installing it on the S side of their patio is a good idea. Yeah, right. Right under our bedroom window. Now we sleep, listening to poor little bugs being nuked all night!)

Good morning....spent all my time looking for this delightful quote....makes me want to go sailing ( as if I ever have ) so figured it couldn't be too bad. I'll be back later when I can --- work day for me. Like I don't work on any of the other days.
Hugs,
Jackie

Neat quote, Jackie!
Wendy, we're only spending 4 days in Vegas. We're stopping at Pike's Peak, The Great Sand Dunes, the Royal Gorge, Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, a friend's house in Scottsdale, and the diamond mines in Arkansas. I'd be broke if we spent 2 weeks in Vegas! LOL Four days may be dangerous enough!!!! LOL
I'll keep in touch!

Hey ladies! I feel like I always have to apologize for failing to keep up in here. AND I missed the get-together. Between both of my kids having graduations a week apart (and all their friends), life's been crazy busy. My son graduated from UofI last weekend, and my daughter graduates from high school this weekend. I even forgot to turn in my timecard last week, which is NOT GOOD with all these graduations happening! Life is busy, but I'm not complaining. It's all good... just a bit hectic.
In the midst of all this I also had a stress echocardiogram done (normal), and an MRI of the tumor in my hip (benign and stable). Now to try and get my follow-up mammo scheduled! Maybe after things settle down a bit.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather we're finally having!

Rene - We did miss you but you have such good reasons....how wonderful to have two graduates to celebrate with this year. So happy to hear your great test results. All in all I'd say things are going really well. Now a **good** mammogram and your good for another nice long stretch.
A little off-topic.....but Google kept asking me to put in their new Chrome toolbar. I think I lasted about a half an hour. Could not access my favorites like I use too....so it came right back out. I have this thread and several things I use daily....sometimes several times a day. Probably there and available on the Chrome thing....I just do not have the patience I guess. I want it all instantly like I have always had it.
Hope you all have a most fantastic day. I'm getting ready to snuggle into my recliner. I'm bushed. Dh will have to make the coffee for the morning. Love those pots that turn themselves on in the morning. Loved the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee as I wake up.
See all of you tomorrow. Sleep tight.
Hugs,
Jackie
p.s. have lots and lots of fun and relaxation Rita and Dave.

Dinner on Wednesday night was lots of fun! I really loved seeing you girls. It's always such a "pick-me-up". Thanks for always being "there". You girls look great! Lisa - your hair looks awesome! So glad it has grown back...
CAROL - Woo-Hoo! You did it! I'm SO happy for you! Let's talk soon... I miss laughing on the phone! lol
Donna and Buddy - Keep hanging in there!
--------------------------------
EVERYONE - Have a nice day... hope you're all doing well.
Ginny - Thinking about you...

Gosh gals --- looking at this picture I see seven very happy, healthy ladies having a really good time -- like a small group of college graduates who wanted to see each other. So Donna, Budders, and all those doing, about to do or just done.....this is what awaits you. Hair returns, happiness returns and you go on living your life --- I think we all just love and cherish a whole lot deeper. The carnage we had to do to ourselves goes and in return.....all of life takes on a different and I think better meaning.
Got to get to work...DRAT but I like the paycheck.
Hugs,
Jackie

Morning Ladies! Just a quick "post-by"
I try to keep up with you all, you sure are an active group!!! Sorry I missed the dinner But I will be sure to let you know when I'll be in town!
a very late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY SMERF!! And an early HAPPY RETIREMENT ZAP!! ( never know when I'll have time to type !)
Been busy getting in garden @ home and doing some landscape stuff @ work. Kinda fun we built a new patio @ work now I get to help decorate it. Boss is all for the beach theme but she said if I get a cabana boy I'd better be willing to share! LOL
And there there was the prom....one more year and she will graduate! Counselor said she'll have enough credits to grad in Dec. But instead I encourage her to take easy fun classes. Boost her GPA and let her enjoy school! I better fly....got a million things to do!! Guess laundry fairies don't like Oregon!
Everyone remember Tough times don't last Tough Illinois Ladies do!

Wow, yes! You all look great. I need to lose about twenty pounds before the next lunch bunch so I "fit" in with the good looks!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel here at school. Everything is winding down. My childhood friend from LA is in town and we are catching some fun between the school commitments. I am really looking forward to summer this year.
I am overdue for my annual mri (I am terrified of them) and decided to wait until June and being officially retired as I wouldnot be able to handle any bad news and retirment. Oh dear me, I think I already mentioned this. If I did than it must be obvious to you that it is really on my mind. I really hate the whole mri experience. If I could be put alseep, I swear, I would request that. I do take sedatives and that helps.
Hope all have a great weekend.

What a great looking group of girls! Wish us southern girls could get up there more often.
On another note, now I know why people get drunk before they get tattoos! Maybe I should have opted for the local. Reconstruction is finally complete (at least on one side)! It was a long road...but worth it all.
Rita - Hope Dave is stopping for you. Have a great trip. I will take good care of your babies!
Ginny - Enjoyed getting together last night. Hang in there! By the way, you looked great.
All - Have a wonderful holiday weekend. I am off to bed so that I am ready to play golf in the morning.

Morning All!!!! Looks like for most of us it will be a good weekend, weather-wise. Bit chilly out there so I decided no coffee on the deck.
Laura....thanks for posting the picture. We do look like a happy bunch, don't we! How was the bread pudding? How long did it last at home, or did you finish it in the car? LOL
Rene23.....don't worry about missing the dinner tho we all were wondering what happened. In fact, if we all made it to all the gatherings, who would we talk about????
Rita......ah....you are taking a driving trip! I thought 2 weeks in LV sounded strange! Have a wonderful time and be careful on the roads...too many crazy people out there with cell phones, smartphones, mascara, and beverages, while reading the paper....while driving!
Susan.....you are getting so close now...any second-guessing about retiring? Probably not....
Smerf....how's DH? Hopefully he is feeling great, and off that last nerve of yours! Great that you got to spend time with your "kids". How's your marsh? Drying out?
Jackie......is DH off this weekend? I hope so! You both need some deck-time! Any grilling out for you this weekend?
Karin...always great to "see" you! Looking forward to your maybe coming to Elgin soon.
JanClare.....missed you on Wednesday!
Blackjack ....... are you one with the waves this morning? I would love to be taking that solitary ride with you. I always feel better, no matter what's on my mind, if I can watch water. Always centers me. I sent you an email.....
Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend...I'll be back to chat later!

Oh what a beautiful morning -- Oh what a beautiful day. And all because Charter got me back into my email program. I'm feeling rested. Dh and I both slept in....I made it til 7 o'clock. We will have Sunday off together...hmmm, what to do, what to do. Well, he is going to clean gutters for our friend. Frank is 88 and it is time to stop getting on ladders. And.....it is what you do when you live in the country....with good people as neighbors. They are gone to Chicago for a few days.
I am going to work and loaf now that I am done with the house across the lake. There is much to do here...as always....lots of it is just refining what I have already done and getting things the way I want them. We may actually do some grilling Sunday. I need to get out most of my yard decorations and get them out....last yr. nothing came out and it was so bare.
WendyTY.....loved what you said about the tattoos. Glad you are totally one-sided done. We do miss a lot down South here don't we --- ah, we will make up for it one of these days.
Well, I'm going to get my day started I think....so much to do it will be hard to pick. I think I'm going to dig out some old shrubs before I get the yard decorations out.....so I'll have a long day of it. I'll be checking back later. See ya'll then.
Hugs,
Jackie

Oh dear - I was typing, typing, typing - taking the time to address so many individually, and POOF!! gone... oy!
I'll try my best at a re-do:
Blackjack - wondering how you are doing!! Hope you are enjoying the water.
Laura - thank you for sharing the pic. I had such a great time with the ladies on Wednesday night. And you all are so skinny - I felt like a moose next to all of you, LOL!!! (I know, calling myself a moose is not good, and did I really need that cookie if I feel like a moose ?? HAHA!)
WendyTY - congrats on the tatt!
Susan - have a great time with your friend.
JulieB - best of luck with your prep & test later in the week. Try not to worry too much - I know, easier said than done.
Karin - good to see you! Enjoy the landscaping/decorating on the new patio.
Rita - enjoy Viva Las Vegas!!
LisaMed - you looked fabulous on Wednesday, by the way.
Jackie - have a nice day in the yard.
Rene - we missed ya Weds; but helloooo, you are one busy lady. Glad your Stress Echo was good & your hip. (I had my stress echo last week too!)
Hi to everyone else that I'm not addressing individually!!
Met with my new boss yesterday, my first day of training will be June 9th, so I get a couple more weeks to goof off (although I would have liked to start a bit sooner for the $$, but that's okay!!!) WendyK - eventually I'll be able to treat u to that lunch I promised you!
DH is off helping a friend move today & I'm just doing some housework & going through my summer clothes. Summer fitting, summer not (Get it ? That's me trying to be funny )
Tomorrow I'm getting together with my sister & her BF (I"ve only met him once.. should be fun!)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend - Juliet

Hi:
Every time we have out of towns guests they plan something on Navy Pier. We are going to a play at The Shakepeare Theater and the place (the pier) wil be packed solid. I just hope we can get a restaurant.
Nice post Juliet. Things might be getting serious with your sister and her boyfriend...holidays with relatives! I hope you like him. I KNOW HE WILL LOVE YOU! You will be a working girl pretty soon. I know you are happy about that. I, on the other hand, will be finished when you start!
Wendy, you asked if I had any regrets. By golly......NO! For one thing I lack the same energy I once had. For another thing I really want to do things. I have no grand plans ....like traveling around the world. I just want to wake up each morning and own my day. I am not the sort to get bored as I get going when I do feel any sense of boredom.creeping in. I do want to become ever so much more active so I can shed this weight I carrying. I so know it is bad to have extra weight. It just kinda crept up on me.
Have a good Memorial Day. I find that in these last few years I get so sad about the men and women who have fought, especially in the more recent wars. I like that Obama is promising that he will not send soldiers in harms' way unless the war is justified. The world is a mess, but perhaps it always has been and I am just noticing it now (grandchildren do that to you).

Hey everyone-
Congrats blackjack! What an wonderful word benign! So happy for you.
Laura- Hanging in there, getting nervous about chemo especially seeing that I don't have a definate answer about my treatments. (See below) UGH!
Someone will have to pm me and tell me who is who in the pic. Because I would love to be able to put faces to the names I have grown to rely on. But I can tell you that each of you is beautiful, no one should feel bad. As my son would say you look HOT!
Susan- I've been to that speedway, Laura suggested, before (not for a long time) but it is a lot of fun. Silly me, I like the mud bogs. I have always liked the dirty boys. Guess that's why I married a construction worker.
Can anyone give me some more advice? Dr. called and they couldn't do an Oncotype test because didn't have enough cancer to test. ( I guess I should be happy about this) but 2 of my oncologist associates didn't think I needed to have chemo. Just tamoxifen. However, I think I know myself well enough to know that if I didn't go after it with all I've got, I would always question myself. Do I just ask (because it was in my Sentinel node) that if there is any chance (which common sense says there is) that I would want to have chemo anyways? And then if there is such a difference of opinion, why did he choose the most aggressive chemo. Which is TAC? Wouldn't TC be okay, if some have started to believe that it's just as effective without worrying about the heart damage of the adriamycin? Am I understanding the different chemos correctly? Does anyone understand me? I'm not sure if I do. But if anyone can help, that would be great.
Enjoy your holiday weekend. Off to a BBQ we go!
Jo

Blackjack: I was worried too. I am so happy that all is well.
Wendy, have fun in the Bg City. It was packed with people on Navy Pier last night but the night was fantastic. I love Chicago!
Take care all!

Hi everyone. Long day today and another tomorrow I think. Got several things done though....screen door is in, and we got a lot of bushy trees dug out and discarded. These were my fault....they come up nearly every year and when I found I would spend a good 8 months or more on treatments....I just left them grow. I knew we wouldn't decorate the yard ( I'm going to start bringing the things out maybe tomorrow ) so I figured at least it was something. So they were there all last summer and some had gotten really big. So now they are gone and the decorative things will take their place. I feel good about that.
You can't imagine the sigh of relief Bj.....but somehow I just had the feeling you could get past that thyroid....now do you have any other tests?????? Just so happy that you made that hurdle.
Well, I'm zonked so am going to try and relax for a bit.....had a slow gentle rain this afternoon and will have more overnight and tomorrow. Not totally what I was hoping for....will be humid afterward and I never like that.
I'll be checking in tomorrow....Dh works so I will spend the time here doing odds and ends.
See you later.
Hugs,
Jackie
