Illinois ladies facing bc

That was good, Buddy, that you found someone else with swollen feet. Yes, it is all scary and it helps to have someone.
I go to the doctor today with the hip. I am feeling pretty sure it is bursitis as it hurts just in one spot when I push on it. It is awful being paranoid about cancer.
Thanks for the wishes for my friend. We spent July 4 with her and her family. She is actually appearing to be doing just great. She is an artist ao I am bringing some artist books over for her to enjoy while she recuperates.
WE got our table in Rockford. The traffic was terrible and I studied the Illinois map and found where we all live. Illinois is a big state and that trip to wine country looks daunting. Might have to fly into Paducah. Spelling looks funny.
Have a good day!

Hi girls! Just a quick post. Had a great weekend in Charleston,IL It rained the whole day on the 4th and fireworks were cancelled. They did still have the parade so westood in the rain for that. Every entrant throws candy to the kids so DD got a couple of bags of candy! Halloween in July. It was great to see my sister and my 17 yo nephew looks like a giant - I haven't seen him in 2 years.
Sorry to hear about your friend, smerf.
Laura - the baby is adorable! I was always kept in the hosp. an extra day and it sucks. They do not let you get any rest!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Buddy - I had a little bit of feet swelling on Taxol. Nothing too bad but I now wear a size larger shoe because it is just a bit more comfortable - I still have some numbness in my feet. If it really is a lot of swelling I would probably check in with my onc.

Hi All,
I read the posts every day and I am getting to know all of you. One of these days I will get in here and join in. Baby steps. First chemo treament is today. Cytoxen and taxotere. I ordered a wig from TLC should be here by the end of the week. DH is shaving his head in solidarity.
Buddy- I'll let you know how I do with the taxotere.

Christi - Best wishes... baby steps - THAT'S A GOOD THING! Awwwwwwwwwwww dh is so sweet!

christie... best wishes on your treatment today. I looked at it like, "the quicker that I start the quicker then I will be done." Hope this makes you feel better. I just had my second tx on 6/25. So I'm not that far ahead of you.

Hugs to both Jo and Christi! Take those treatments "one at a time" and you do get through them. I loved to mark them off on my calendar! Good luck, Christi on the first one. It's always the hardest because you don't know what to expect. They're really not quite as horrible as we imagine them to be! You can do it!

Everything crossed for Christi and Jo and Christi...Rita is right the fear of the first usually does not become the reality of it at all.....usually nerve-wracking but anti-climatic.
Jo, you may not be far ahead but you are off to a good start. It is a good attitude --- get started as quick as you can and get them done. We are stronger than we think a lot of the time. It's not an easy thing, but I always felt a sense of accomplishment that I was able to hang in there and do it. Although....that little line in my dx says a lot.

Christi..Sending good thoughts for your chemo today.. drink LOTS of water before, during and after!!! it is so necessary.Any questions, one of us can most likely help or have been thru the same.Your hubby is a total doll!!!! Baby steps and doin it as feels right for you!!!! I have wigs thru TLC and they work really well!!!
Budders...JNo swelling here but at least Laura helped!!Bet you were freaked..i would of been.
Jo ,, you too!!!Hope all is well.. head as a bowling ball is a hoot!!!! KEEP the humor as it helps so much!!I
Have a thought.. how many of you considered or had your ovaries removed as a precaution. AM on the fence on this as i was recommended by my onocologist to do such as there was a insignificant variant on my BRCA gene 1 testing. Need to get educated on this all still. I was under the impression that breast cancer is connected to the ovaries too??? I truly do not want to do something if it is not necessary. Have alot to read up on..sigh.
Laura...Baby is so precious. What a blessing!!!
Wendy...My DH have a hard time walking as i am a bouncer too... i scare him as i walk too fast!!!! LOOK like a german soldier with my arms...lol.
Be well and all a sweet dreaming night/

Donna.. Had my ovaries removed when I had my BLM in April. I did have a mutation on my BRCA2 gene. Was done having kids (4 is enough) and felt that it would be better for my overall health. Not too many menopause symptoms so far, so I haven't regreted it for that reason either. I figure by christmas, my hair will be coming back, boobs where they're suppose to be, and will be able to wear white pants whenever I want. That makes up for all this cr@p, right? If you have any questions, let me know. It was laprascopic and has about a week recovery time.

CONNIE IF MY FEET GET ANY BIGGER I WILL START ORDERING CLOWN SHOES.
ZAP OMG PADUCAH SAY IT AINT SO. THAT IS WHERE MY ENTIRE FAMILY IS. ENTIRE. FROM WAY WAY BACK. ITS HALF WAT BETWEEN MONKEYS EYEBROW AND POSSUM TROT. I STARTED MY STEROIDS TODAY. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD WARN YOU GIRLS. I AMY OR MAY NOT GET CHEMO TOMORRO HE SAID DEPENDS ON TEH COUNTS.

Morning! 55 and sunny on my deck, 20% chance of rain (which probably means it will be poring by 9am)
Budders....OK...I guess I have not had enuf caffeine this am...Monkeys Eyebrow and Possum Trot? Are those towns? Or a joke that I didn't get????? If the swelling is getting that bad, call the onc/onc nurses....they can give you a diuretic to help. Keep them elevated - which of course means you need to be waited on, constantly. Does that work for you????? Constantly.
Christi....aw.....DH shaved his head! Now that is one DH to keep! Fingers crossed that your chemo went well. Glad too that you like your wig. It was much easier for me when I got my wig weeks before my first chemo and I put it on....I looked the same, except with MUCH better hair. Go figure.....but looking normal was important for me. Lots of water, crystal lite lemonade and my new fav thing - Culver's lemon ice! Don't forget to take your anti-nausea meds!
Jo...good advice. The quicker we start, the quicker we are done, the quicker we put this (or most of it anyway) behind us and get back to living. Hope you are doing well too!
Donna...I don't just bounce, I tend to sprint up ahead for half a block and then wait for DH! His idea of walking is going to the mall and stopping at Kohls for new underwear! So...you can see that we have much different ideas re: exercise. Which is why I am being punished these weeks before vacay when he wants to lose 30# by eating lean cuisines for lunch and dinner every day! Altho I have to say...when Jewel had them, even the large ones, on sale for $1.99 is was certainly cheaper that cooking! We finally compromised tho...with him off all summer we do eat out so....lunch out = salads only, leans for lunch, low cal - low fat dinners. And NO CHEATING!!!!
Connie....sorry about the weather for your trip! Do you read Koontz? I haven't bought his newest yet....
Susan...YAY! For getting the table....and hugs for your friend. Sounds as if she is resigned now and is okay about everything and just waiting now...
Time to get moving...back to the gym for me, then mowing, trimming, weeding. Then...I don't know! Maybe take the Z out and try Dock's or Lindy's Landing up in Wauconda for lunch if the sun stays out. Have a great one, everybody!

Morning Girls...Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday. It looks like it is going to be a warm sunny day here up north. Just got back from a long run along the lake and it was so peaceful and calm this morning. Just may need to take the boat out today.
Wendy...sorry to hear that dh doesn't like to walk. Don't feel bad mine doesn't either. Says I walk to fast for him. lol I like running by myself anyway. I see that you and dh have been finding cute places for lunch..FYI we have some cute one's that are new up north.
Laura...how is that cute new baby doing and Syd. How is the bra's coming along. Any pics for us to see.
Rita...how are you doing? How is golf going for you..I am still learning this game.
Susan..how is your friend doing. Will keep her in my prayers this week as she has her surgery. How is retirement going for you. Having fun. When do you go to Green Lake or are you going to Lake Geneva?
Jo and Christie..good luck with your txs. Remember to rest and be kind to your self. Hugs to you both.
Jackie..how are you doing?
Just wanted to remind everyone that the Lunch Bunch is meeting this Thurs at 6PM. Hope you can come and join the fun. All are welcome.
Well I gotta run...very busy today as I am having a dinner party today and have to get cooking.

Jo..Thanks for your info !! I just need to really understand it all as ovaries do affect so much of the ebb and flow for us and yet, how much of that will be missed..lool. Just goin thru chemo , i am so off balance and know that i have to be in menopause and it all is just not feeling good at all. One more part out of me, just makes me icky. We shall see and know it has to be looked at soon. Hope you are well!!!
Budders...I am with Wendy on the possum and monkey eyebrow look.. is this a town..lololol. Hope you treatment can be done today! This swelling has to be ok by now ..right?
Wendy...:You need to do a sitcom about you and your DH.. too funny!!! Plan to walk today..alone!!!! You make me laugh!!!
Ok.. SUN OR STORMS?? The weather has me so confused lately. Summer is just not feeling enough like it is suppose to, to me.
Have a great day ladies and Kristi...thinking of you as you went thru your first treatment!!!

Good Morning everyone.....here is something I found that amazed me so I'd like to share:
today is the birthday of the Hoover Dam? In 1930,
work began on Boulder Dam (now called Hoover Dam). At the time
it was completed, the dam was the highest concrete dam in the
world. The Dam is 726.4 feet high, 1,244 feet across at the
top, 660 feet thick at the base, 45 feet thick at the top, and
weighs 6.6 millions tons!Rita, I think you may have passed this on part of your trip recently. I was there many years ago and it is rather stunning to see.
Now about walking....funny thing but Denny is much faster than me. For a tall person I have this tiny stride and where it came from I don't know but I huff and puff keeping up with Denny who is a couple inches shorter. Usually I don't mind as it does sort of force me into putting some real effort in at least part of the time. He will adjust to slowing a bit so it works in the end for us. We very much enjoy walking though. It is one of the very best forms of exercise and if you want to make sure you lose some wt. then you need to walk fast for a few minutes ( maybe 5 ) then slow down, then fast again etc. This will I'm told allow you to " keep burning calories " long after you are done walking.
Jo and Christi.....hope the treatments went well for you. Buddy do hope that you will be fine today. Buddy...re: those towns....first thing that came to mind was Linda Lovelace and Evel Kinevel -- how funny.
Bj, I think I would have to be walking by the lake, but it sounds so pleasant ( you can't walk too much around our lake ) to walk or run where you can see the water. Ok, here it comes....it is a spiritual experience to me, but even if you don't think that and a lot of people don't......it still is difficult to watch the ebb and flow of the water and not notice that your feelings change usually to being more relaxed. Cleansing effect to me and hey, don't forget....we spent our first 9 months submerged in water.
Hope you all have a beautiful day.

Hi again....heard from Christi and she sent me these beautiful photos of her bc quilt that a friend of hers made for her to take to chemo....I hope they turn out!

OK...I see that the middle pic I should have rotated but I am not going to go back...so girls...just stand on your heads to view pic #2!
Budders...Oh cmon with those name!!! The GIANT Airport? "Lovelaceville"??? (you really need to stop smokin' those funny cigarettes)
BJ....yep, I agree...time for a boat ride!!!!!!
And now...Miss Wendy needs her 2nd shower of the day..but the lawn is done for another week!

Christi.....You have a great bunch of friends. That quilt is gorgeous........and such a nice, thoughtful gift! I hope all goes well today for you.
Jackie, yes, we toured Hoover Dam on vacation. What an awesome structure! It is amazing how it was constructed and what wonderful engineering when into it to make is still serviceable today. That took lots of insight.
Tomorrow is our Ladies' Golf For the Cure at the club and Wendy and I are on the committee. We hope to earn lots of money so keep your fingers crossed for good weather and NO RAIN! We have a meeting this afternoon to finalized everything so I need to get moving!
Enjoy the wonderful sunshine today!

Christi: Yu are loved! That quilt is a treasure.
Well, I am one relieved and grateful lady. The breast mri came out fine and the x-rays on my hips shows no cancer on the bone which means the doctor's thought, based on symptoms, is that I have bursitis. He always thought that, but he needed to eliminate ofter things and you know how it goes. Being back in that part of the hospital was hard. There are so many sick people. When I say I am grateful, I am saying that from the bottom of my heart. Whenever this happens, I feel I can do anything! Obviously I also feel sad for those who hear bad news.
With that being said, I am in pain, especially at night. I am at peace with it now that I know what it is. The doctor will refer me to an ortho doctor if the conservative plan (icing and over the country and PT) does not work. I would guess now that the stress is lessened, it will get better.
Hope all are doing well. I am on my way to bring books and comfort to my BF who is facing her surgery with such courage. As a matter of fact, she is taking her family to see Mary Poppins tonight.

Morning all! 62 and very cloudy on my deck. No rain right now tho. Boy, it got chilly yesterday didn't it! By 7:30pm I had closed all the windows! Strange weather for July! Friend of mine is leaving on an Alaskan cruise in a few days...wonder if it's warmer in Alaska!
Susan.....a big WHEW and YAY going out to you! Who would have ever thought that we would be happy you have bursitis and have to take pain meds and do PT? Hugs to your friend for tomorrow...be sure and let us know how it goes!
Rita/WendyTY...how did the golfing go? I hope the weather fairy was good to you.
Buddy...another one down! Yahooooooooo! Do you take clairitn for the bone pain associated with neulasta?
Christi...well, one done! You are on your way to the finish line! How are you feeling this morning? Hopefully the steroids didn't keep you awake all night. Don't be afraid to ask for a sleep aid if you need it. I think most of us took something, at least once in a while during our tx's. Don't forget...you are more than welcome tomorrow!
Jackie....I agree with you about water. It is very relaxing. Also....as I sit on a beach, or on the bank of a river....I watch the ebb and flow and I realize that it was here hundreds of years ago and it will be here hundreds of years from now. I am but a speck in the universe. That's why I like my pic of this morning....it shows footprints, that appear out of nowhere, and then disappear. Kinda like all of us. It's up to us to decide what type of footprint we wish to leave on this earth.
Wow....where did THAT come from? I think I better have some extra coffee....
Everyone...have a wonderful, if somewhat damp, day! Hugs to all! Will check back later...
(Hey Laura....how is Paula doing?)

Awwwww Wendy...Thanks for giving such a great pic to start the day off with!!!!This summer is far from feeling like warmth and full days of sunshine.!!
Buddy...GOOD!!!Glad the tx is over and ONE MORE!!!We will then have a goal to get together as you get thru today and one more!!!! AS you told me, drink LOTS of water!!!!!
Susan...SO happy all is ok and can imagine the emotional roller coaster you were on, wondering if it was all goin to be ok!! It is all so much bearable emotonally when you know what you are dealing with now!!!I I can imagine the flashbacks of being in the hospital again.. i will never forget how it was for me and just so grateful i am not in that pain or shape as at least you know you are there for tests etc and goin home ok. Good thoughts goin for your BF.
Kristi..Hope you are ok. Know it is a day to day process. When i was starting my treatments , good friends of ours won a beautiful breast cancer blanket at a cancer auction event and used it soley for the couch to rest and bury myself in.WIsh i knew how to do pics and insert to show, as it is so big and so comforting!!!!Be good to yourself and know you are not alone.
Rita...Hoover DAM is awesome and quite a memory for me as it has been several years seeing it. Pretty impressive!!!
Hope the rain does not happen ALL day..sigh.
Hugs,
Donna

Good morning everyone....my perfect post of last night is being enjoyed by someone on the moon somewhere I think. Oh sometimes I sure hate losing them. The exact thoughts for the moment in time for which you wrote them are long gone and very hard ( mostly impossible ) to re-create. Part of what Eckhart Tolle is trying to get us to understand about living in each moment --- each moment changes and each moment changes us to some degree along with how we perceive what is going on around us at that time. We may still have a deep or profound feeling inside, but can't never quite describe it as well the second time around. Some of the essence that was there has slipped away --- used the first time it now seems to lack a layer or something....or maybe we feel it has.
Anyway without further ado...Christi, the quilt is very beautiful and you have a thoughtful, loving friend -- just the kind it is wonderful to have when you are on a journey such as this one. In fact, like many of you I am sure, I have a variety of lap robes, but the one that gave me a peaceful comforting feeling is the one Blackjack sent to me and the one that I used exclusively. I think it was full of high hopes and healing energy.
Yea Susan---it's only bursitis. It is funny that we are ready almost for a big celebration when something is only anything as long as it's not canser.
Wendy...;.there is a great thinker and writer in you too. We are just little dots in the universe...little grains of sand as it were and most of the time....we are not sure why we are here. That question used to take up so much of my time -- the why me because I'm just taking up space and contributing nothing. Then I finally came to realize that every individual on earth is important and is here for a reason even if we don't see it or feel it, from the beggar to the king - we are learning here as well as teaching - we comfort someone and someone comforts us. We are a part of the biggest roadshow there ever was-- glorious creation and all that twas ever expected...all we ever had to do was be willing to do the best we good while doing as little harm as possible and loving and caring for our fellow man and the earth and all it's gifts.
Boy...am I ever going to be pi****d if I lose this post now because I'll never feel quite the same way again -- the words said will never quite take on such feeling -- the emotional charge they had at the moment they went down on the paper.
Just know like the "quote says " to the world you may only be one person, but to someone else you may be the world, because you will be making their world ok again.
You are all wonderful, and very unique and never forget that. I sincerely mean that statement. Just stop and think about all the people in your life that make you glad you are here sharing with them....not here on BC.Org....but anywhere.
Ok Wendy....now we can say where the heck did that come from I guess. Hope you all have a glorious day. I'm going to get ready to go to Marion for my 3 month check-up. Wish me well. See you later.
Hugs, Jackie

"I'm very pleased with each advancing year. It stems back to when I was forty. I was a bit upset about reaching that milestone, but an older friend consoled me. 'Don't complain about growing old - many, many people do not have that privilege.'"

Morning Girls...Oh were is the sunshine today. It must be on vacation. The weather up north is very chilly today. So no boat ride today. Wendy your beach pic was so beautiful to look at today. As Jackie as echoed in the past the water is our calm. We are all grains of sand..we are put here on earth for a reason, but do you know what that reason is. Each of us has left our own tiny footprints by the random acts of kindness that we have show to each . Christi your friends made you a beautiful quilt that has wrapped you up in love and comfort as you have your txs. Jackie I am so glad that you use your blanket.. You know that it sent with healing powers. It is a gentle hug everyday for you. I hope your md appt. goes well. Sending you a big hug for a good appt.
Susan ..glad to hear that you only have bursitis. That is doable and fixable with meds. Yeah for you. Wishing your friend a healing hug as she has surgery today. And a big hug to you too as you are a special friend to be there with her.
Rita / Wendy..how was your golf tournament. I had my second lesson today and it was much better than the first one. The instructor was very nice and helpful to me. So maybe there still is hope for me. lol
Laura.. how is the projects coming along. any pics yet.
Smerf.. sending healing hugs and prayers for your friend who is sick. Hope she is feeling better.
To all I missed and who are in tx hope all is well. Remember to rest.
Off to the gym now.. have a great day. Stay warm it is cold out there.

Hi girls I got some claritin. Do any of you know when I start it and for how many days I should take it.

Wendy... Thought of you yesterday as I drove past Dock's. I was wondering if everyone would think I was crazy if I walked in yelling "Wendy" Decided against it, instead opting for my doc appointment instead. However, I'm sure that it would have been more fun to sit in the sun and meet you.
Can someone send me the get togther info for tomorrow again? I lost the email somehow.
