Hi all,
Just checking in.
Had a wonderful time at JanClare's a couple of weeks ago. Even though it is quite a distance, I am always so glad when I get together with the girls. So glad to meet Deb also.
barbgale - I go to Lynn Sage at Northwestern also. My biopsy and diagnosis was from Palos Hospital, but had surgery, chemo and radiation at Northwestern. I work downtown, so it was very convenient for me.
I am scheduled for nipple reconstruction on Friday, September 4, but just realized I will not be able to go into a pool aftewards and may reschedule. I have no idea at all what to exepct from this procedure. Has anyone else had it done?

Happy Birthday.WendyTY.....!!!!A Leo like me!!!GREAT sign.. we are the center of the universe ..lolol.. at least we think we are!!!
Just got back from the DR's after a few hundred errands...lol.. and is treating me for insomnia.. as i just cannot stay asleep.. i fall asleep and ten minutes later wide awake.Wake up every three hours and cannot fall back to sleep. I gave in and am goin to take a drug called Trazadone....Connie...is this the one you are on for sleep??? It is meant to shut the thinking and treat for anxiety.Heck, why should there be any anxiety after all of what has happened to my body?!I can handle anything but loosing sleep is way too much for me and hope this will be all ok to take. He said it is not addictive and is meant also for those who have chronic pain.
Hope ALL is goin well with JO, Kristi and all others here....Buddy. good news on the end of the Rad's tx?!!Congrad's on your new car too~~!!!!Getting kids ready for school too i bet?!Some around here start Aug 19th!!
Hugs to all,
Donna

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WENDYTG-

Donna, I was on Trazodone. I had weird dreams, but man you sleep. Ironically, the meds were given to me because I had nightmares (often still do). I had vivid dreams, but not nightmares on Trazodone. It is an antidepressant but too much to be taken during daytime and I think it works on putting you into that REM sleep and keeping you there. I think you will be fine, just allow time to sleep (meaning take it at a time when you know you have eight hours ahead of you for uninterrupted (glorious) sleep. I stopped taking it when I felt I could sleep on my own without the awful nightmares that made me feel physically ill when i awoke. I wish you well. Sleep is so important to our health and feeling of well-being. My understanding is that it is better than a sleeping pill in that it is not habit-forming, as would be all all anti-depressants. I think I have this last part correct.

Hi all,
Here is an update..... Met with the new PS on Monday and really liked him. I scheduled the exchange/implant swap for Sept 3rd. So ready to get that over. My job is OK and I remain employed. The funding did come through so that is a relief. So funny how you can "trade" one crisis for another. Now my MIL in in the hospital with lots of complications with diabetes and we had a car stolen off the lot at my husband's shop. Fortunately we have surveillance and I am hopeful we can identify the thief. We believe it is a young teen out for a joy ride. Anyway, we have had our share of drama lately. I am ready for some quiet, calm days. Yikes!!!!
Happy Birthday!!! - WendyTY
Donna - Glad you had a good birthday and that your hair is growing back!
Zap - So glad you enjoyed your class. I think you will love retirement.
Carolberry - Sending you my condolences and hugs.
Everyone else - Take care too and have a great weekend!

Morning! 62 on the deck....quite nice!
Jennifer....so glad you liked your PS! Your job is still intact so that is good. Hopefully your MIL will be just fine. And....did you find the car yet???
Donna....did you sleep better last night? I've been going to sleep just fine lately and then about 2am, that's it. I slept til 3am this morning. Not sure what this is all about but I will try a benadryl tonight and see if that helps. Might be the fact that the AC has been on and it really doesn't do a good job upstairs...
Lisamed....don't have any info for you re: nipple reconstruction. I don't know if any of us did have that????
Donna redux......YAY for hair!!! ANY HAIR!!!!! You can always go back to Nice N Easy!
Buddy....how are you?
Christi......how are you doing????
Jackie....how are things down south?
Ginny....wow, what a busy few days for you! Seems like it all went so fast! Hopefully today the weather will be with you for an easy move-in...did you get another house, or condo, or????
Time to get off my butt....a walk is in our future this am so I need to get semi-pretty so I don't scare the neighbors. Have a great Saturday!

Thank you for the wonderful birthday wishes! I had a great day. I went to the spa and lunch with my Mom and sister. We had a very nice time. I met another girl who has made the journey. It was very encouraging. She had bc at 35 and is now a 14 year survivor! I just love to hear stories like that!
Rita and I are off to play golf this morning with Dave and Chris in a bc fund-raiser.
Jennifer - I'm so glad you like your new PS. You'll love the results of the swap. It will be much more comfortable.
Ginny - Travel safely to your new adventure!
Donna - Happy belated birthday!
Wendy - I finally got word that I was correct. I will be done with the Herceptin treatments on Monday! YEAH! And...they now think that the other issues that I have been having are due to my thyroid. I have a bunch of tests tomorrow. I swear if it isn't one thing, it's another.
I better stop messing around and get ready to head to the golf course. Hope you all have a great day!

Thought for the Day
If you are always dwelling on trouble -- it's time to change your address.0 -
Good Morning all.....just one day and wow....so much happens. Ginny I am wishing you well today as you move into your new place. Just don't forget to rest in-between what you are doing so you don't tire yourself out any more than you have too.
Donna....that is definitely good news about the Trazadone. I have had the MAJOR good fortune of being able to sleep well almost all the time and easily recall the dis-coordinated out of sorts feeling when you don't. It is really un-pleasant ---- I always felt so cheated when it happened. I know that it takes a little time for your body to catch up so here's hoping that soon you will start to feel not only rested but energized.
Belated Birthday wishes to WendyTY. It is fantastic to hear about those who are long time out from their bc journey. It is just the inspiration we sometimes need since roughly we are still close to our beginning.
Mich and all the others.....I am thinking of you always. In fact, you will probably enjoy this Mich....I went and picked up Teeny ( we haven't thought of a name yet ) Thursday night. The other foster dog. She is such a cutie. Part Dachshund---part Chihuahua??? part Terrier???? as she is taller than a Dachshund but has the coloring, the ears, the snout etc....so we are just not sure. When we picked her up we found she had an injury....had a friend ta while take her to the vet yesterday while I was at work. She has a fracture in her front rt. leg. Man who had her claims he does not know how it happened....hmmmmm. Vet said that it will heal but if she re-injures it, there will have to be a cast. She seemed not to be in pain so I am going with that as she seems to be holding her own with B.Boss and all the cats. She is another lap dog and has taken to Dh right off. I'm full up now....can't take anything else
It's hot as usual here, but after work last night I went way out to Odin and had my hair redone. Nicki is helping me figure out "what" look I am going for as I really don't know for sure. We did a less tight curl this time so we will see how it goes. I'm just glad to get it all off my neck in this heat.
Well, off to get my Saturday started. Hope you all have a great day. Thinking about you barbgale and Sarah too.
Hugs,

I am finally scheduled for surgery to get my expander put in! It will be Friday the 21st, which will give me the weekend to recoop before I start work on Monday. At least students don't come back until Wednesday. I'm pretty much done getting my classroom together...except for my desk, which will probably be the biggest thing to tackle!
We are headed to the mall today to buy school clothes. We'll probably be there with the rest of the world! I think I'll deserve a Cinnabon after shopping.
Be well! Stay cool!

Morning! 70 already on the deck but I hear rain will be moving in later, which is fine by me...the grass is "crunchy"! And I have a really good book that I would like to curl up with so a rainy day sounds good!
WendyTY.....YAY!!!!! Last Herceptin!!!!!!! Will you also be sayng good-bye to the ole port? Glad your BD was so much fun...it seems like a lot of you girls do a spa-day. That sounds like fun...maybe I will do something like that. I don't like massages but I would like to get a facial.
Sarah....how did the shopping go yesterday? Can't believe you ventured out on a Saturday and yes, you did deserve a Cinnabon! How was it?
Jackie...Odin? Another Illinois town that I have never heard of! How did the hair turn out? Teeny I guess is a cute name, but too cutesy for me...how about Dog? If I ever had a dog, that's what I always wanted to name it (him? her?). Or...you could name him Bear? How about that one? I like that....
Getting very cloudy out here already, black clouds to the West so I think I will try and rustle up DH and see if he wants to walk.....or.....BREAKFAST!!!!! That sounds like much more fun....and I see it is Elvis day on AMC and "Blue Hawaii" is on at 8 so maybe just sit on my butt and eat. Now...that's a plan. Have a great Sunday everyone!

LOVE Cinnabons.. lolol.. HOPE it was gooey and messy and so satisfying!!!! Good luck Sara for the expander exhange etc.
Had a last minute request yesterday morning from my DH, when I asked what shall we do for dinner..he says..lets have my family over for a deck party.. so that was what we did.. it was fun and the pool was used and DOGS were so darn entertaining that they will be sleeping until Monday!!
Tomm is my first fup appt with my BC Surgeron since chemo at Rush!
Wendy..slept better but DID not fall alseep for ever..on medication that today feels like it is kicking in.. it is a challenging time when we cannot sleep. The other night i was wide awake at 430 am and could not sleep for anything. 1am to 3am.. is when the liver is being worked and that has something to do with wake ups. IF i continue to have sleep issues after getting this med.. i would suggest seeing a endocronologist. Not doin hormones is my culprit.. i know this is mainly hormone related. K eep me posted how it goes for you in sleep! Thanks Jackie.. you were so blessed being able to sleep!!!Hormone shifts definitnley are part of this sleep issue!!t Appreciate your words and right on advice always!!!!!!
WendyTY...AWESOME you are having your LAST herceptin!!!Have experience with thyroid as my sister in law is currently dealing with her thyroid and practically crashed.. have some info on this area if anything comes out with the DR and tests. I have what they call hypoadrenia and is very simliar to a low thryoid.. no meds but manage it nutritionally so far and naps when i have to. GOOD luck, very challenging endocrine issue. SO many women suffer from this and know a GOOD Dr is everthing in this kind of work!!!!!!!!
Buddy.. miswrote last post.. you are starting your RADS tx;'s right.. here for you always !!
Teacher meeting this WED and though i am just a sub, i take my job seriously and am called alot.. will start slow and pray that sleeping will improve so i can be able to sustain a day of teaching!!Want to go back so bad.
ALL stay cool today and rain may come later..good for our veggie garden!

Great Sunday morning though I think it will rain soon. It is due to in fact, rain the next several days. Was going to wash my car but....feel like being here for the time being.
Hair....I'm not thrilled at the moment, but I think it will be better after I work with my curling iron a bit. I may go back and have her cut it....not sure. It's longer than I thought it would be. Her perception may have been that I like it a bit longer. Or she may feel the general length is more adequate for my face....sigh !!! who knows, but I will work with it a bit and see.
Wendy, I had a neighbor who had a dog named Dog. I thought it was so funny to hear them called him. But in time the name really fit. As far as Teeny.....the guy we picked her up from said her name was Lady....however, I think he made that up on the spot. I was not prepared to take her so soon and she needed a name....quickly. I am not fond of some of the ??old fashioned?? names like Lady or Princess which was Molly's name. No thanks. Everyone here has a name and they all know them.....so to make sure to cut down on confusion....she needed a name. She is about the size of a medium sized cat. I am thinking of taking a picture of her....and maybe Molly McButter too....and I'll send them to you to post. These guys are just adorable.
Well, onward and upward for the day. Have to get cleaned up as I am going out for lunch. I'llm be checking back later.
Hugs,
Jackie

Hope everyone is doing okay. I am definately on the upswing after my last treatment. Or should I say "LAST" treatment. Yipeee! And thanks for all the well wishes, I don't know what I would've done these last few weeks without knowing I had you guys to turn to.
Jackie- My vote for a name is Maggie Mae. I think it goes with Molly McButter. Though our next dog is going to be Finnegan. Don't know why but that's what I have in my head. Actually, Maggie Mae is what I sometimes call my daughter, Meghan.

Hi~ just drop by.. to say hi~!
So, I missed another lunch bunch... well someday... ^^ you ladies looks so great, how do you keep up??
I didn't get my Herceptin this week cuz my muga scan result showed 48 instead of 50.. Is this means I am a chf?? anyhow.. my onc. doc told me to wait and do another mega scan and see.. I was very tired lately and maybe cuz of this, I think.. darn it~! I asked my onc. doc. what if the number is still low, then what's gonna happen?? she told me not too worry... OK... I am not worry but I like to know don't you?? I am curious...

YEAAH JO!!!! Know how it ALL feels and it of course gets better and better.Actually two month mark things started to really click for me.Insomnia is still an issue for me but know it is all hormone related and getting that all handled by a med for overall balance and getting sleep. We will see. Hey,let;s have a hair growing race...lololo. so far it is black and gray and no length!!!!
Jackie.. awwwww!!!Like the name Jo mentioned.. does it have to be Mollie related? They all sound adorable as all heck!!!How aobut Allie.. you know i need to see the baby and see the personality before i can really think of a name.
Hope ALL had a good weekend.Little rain here but had alot of wind!!!!
