Hi Girls, It sounds like everyone is very busy remodeling, painting or getting ready for vacation. I still have to take down my xmas decorations. My cough is not getting better so tomorrow I will call the md for another antibotic or cxr. I feel like a mac truck ran over my chest. I should be resting ...but had to take my son to the airport, he went back to school in Rhode Island. Cried all the way home..I miss him all ready. Speaking of Las Vegas, my sister is taking me there in 2 wks for a wkend. I think that would be a great place for everyone to meet. I would suggest Apr-May-June. The summer months are very hot 100-118 degree's . It is a fun place.

Rita..if you are going to Sanabel.ck out the Bubble Room in Capitva. It is a restrurant filled with old xmas toys..very fun and good foos

Kater, Ginny, Jackie hope you are all feeling better.

Laura, Wendy, Susan, and everyone else hope you are enjoying this nice weather.

Back to bed for me with my hot tea and honey yum...

    Hi all,

Sorry your still having such a heavy chest Blackjack......maybe it's one of those things that will to a fast turn around for you when it happens.....that doesn't help too much at the moment though.  Just get better.

All those vacation plans ( something I haven't had in years ) sound fantastic.  Daughter Kate wants me to fly out to her home in Oxnard, California this spring.  Hmmm....I'll have to see what is in store for me because I'd really like to go.

I certainly don't plan to do any remodeling for some time.  I'll be lucky just to keep up, but there are a couple of small things that Denny will do along the way that will be a help to me.  Need a new kitchen sink, and have a new big water filtration system which we don't want to stall out too long.

Rita, you would probably like the game of May I.

1st. round....one four card run and three of a kind.

    2nd.round....three......three of a kind.

3rd.round.....2 three of a kind and one four card run

You keep going like that til' you get to the last hand which is three four card runs.

Losers get points each time with high card ace 15 points, face cards  10 etc.  The one with the least points at the end is the winner.  In between, if you see a card you need and it's not your turn and the rest don't need the card you can May I the card.  You will however have to take two extra cards when you do this.  Comes in handy at times.

Anyway....I'll write it all out and p.m. you if you think you'd like to learn the game.  It's a lot of fun and you can talk and have a good time in-between.

It's late so I'm closing up shop here.

    All stay well..........

    Jackie

Hi All!  I just cannot get over the temps this morning...sure wish it would last!

Michele...I too get those night sweats and they wake me up, usually around 2:30am and then I am usually awake the rest of the night as I have gotten up to change jammies.  If I remember to put extra clothes right on the nightstand so I don't get up, that sometimes allows me to go right back to sleep.  Also keep a window open, no matter what the temp outside.

Blackjack....I'm sorry you are still not feeling up to par.  Good thing you are calling the doc today.

Jackie...go to CA!  Sounds like a fun trip!

    Vegas?  Hmmmmm....I've never been and I don't gamble and I don't like shows...but I love food!

Well, I should start on something....the house is messy, floors are dirty and I am going to start today, 1 hour a day, in the bsmt.  going thru all the fall/winter decorations.  Anything I did not use this year is out, out, out.  I refuse to pack all this stuff up again like I did last year.

But it is so nice and quiet here, with just me, myself and I.  I might just get another cup of coffee and read the paper for awhile.

Everyone have a good day, and get outside if you can to enjoy the warmth!

    Hi all -

Back from MI!  We had a good weekend.  The boys got plenty of snowmobiling in before it started to melt.  We had gone with another family with kids the same age as ours, so we had a great time.  When the snow started melting Saturday the kids had a great time outside - good snowball and snowman weather!  We came back late Saturday night which was good as I got to get my laundry and grocery shopping done yesterday.  I also took advantage of the nice weather and got my daughter out to sell her girl scout cookies.  I was dreading doing that in the cold weather, so it worked out great - we tackled the whole neighborhood and now I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Vegas - I'm going there also next week.  I've been meaning to bring it up to make Rita jealous!Wink  My work has an office out there and we are having our quarterly review out there.  My boss invited our spouses to also come with so dh will be coming with me.  My meetings will be Thurs/Fri and we will be staying on until Sunday.  It will be a nice getaway for us after this year of hell.  Plus, work is paying for the hotel for the whole stay - the Mirage!

Sorry to hear about your daughter Susan.  I'm sure it will work out fine, but I understand the worry.  You are in my thoughts.

Hope you are feeling better, Blackjack.  I'm sure it's just one of the those nasty winter infections, but it's good to get it checked out.

Hope you are feeling ok, Julie.  I'm sure that chemo hit you over the weekend - hopefully it wasn't too bad.

I love that pulley idea, Kater.  I am the same.  Either freezing or boiling all day/night long.   I have noticed my hot flashes getting better over the last week.   I hope that continues.

Hi to everyone else I missed!  Too many posts to catch up on!  Have a great day!

Hey Girls....Just an update.  I went to the surgeon today and will have the drains in until Thursday.  Still have some swelling.  I can't wait to get them out.

Connie....the book I was reading was by Debbie Macomber and was called Dakota Home.  It's the second book in a triology.  The first one is called Dakota Born.  Check them out, they are great.  I love Debbie Macomber.  All her books are good.

LauraGTO....thanks for the card.  It was great!!!!

Blackjack...Hope you get feeling better for your trip to Vegas.

I wish I was planning a trip to somewhere.  I want to go to Grand Bear Lodge(I think) up by Starved Rock.  It has an indoor water park.

    Well...gotta go and eat lunch....

Thanks for the book ideas, Rita and Ginny.  I will check those out.

Ginny - you will feel so much better getting those drains out.  I thought those were the worst!!

O.K. Connie and Michele (blackjack)........I am green with envy.  In fact, if I wasn't going to Florida this month I'm sure I'd be just darn right depressed!  LOL  I hope you two have LOTS of fun and win BIG TIME!

Ginny...good to see you posting.  Do you have an appointment scheduled with the onc?

Wendy...that gal in the graphic today is BLUE!  She must have just been introduced to Biatine toothpaste!  LOL  Hope you're not too lonely now that you've lost your daily sidekick!  :-)

I hope EVERYONE is enjoying this weather.  Believe it or not, I am airing out the house.  I have a few windows open and the fresh air sure seems good!

Gotta run.  I'll be back later!

Oh Jackie,  I meant to tell you that May I sounds like fun.  I tried looking it up on the WWW to find the instructions but didn't have any luck.  I'd love to have them when you have time to write them out.  There is no hurry.  We play alot of cards with other couples and are always looking for new diversions!

Hope you're having a good day.

    WinkHi Ladies,

What lovely weather, although this afternoon is somewhat overcast---not great to me, but the warmth really helps.  I didn't air out the house like you Rita.......but dh and I had a ham sandwich and some jello with passion fruit out on the deck.  I just couldn't resist anymore.  It was so warm ( a little on the breezy side ) and knowing it won't last much longer I just had to do it.

Rita, I will check instructions with my SIL.  Last night was the first we had played May I in several months and I don't trust my brain right now.  I adore that game and there was another we used to play all the time called Stack Em.........I don't know if I have instructions for that....I would have to look, but the reason I like them so well is that there is some challenge to them, but you can carry on a conversation and not get too lost in where you are with the game.

Hope you are all enjoying this SPRING day.

Hah!  Don't we wish!  And Jackie...you ate outside?  Wow....I was tempted tho I have to admit...did open up some windows.

Sounds like Connie had fun...also sounds like everyone to going someplace but me...boohoo.

Just wanted to mention something...saw InStyle mag at the gym today and loved Katie Holmes shorter cut and there are about 6/7 more pics inside and I think I will go wil this style...seems to suit me...just have to wait until the hair catches up.  But the neat part...if you go to instyle.com/hair you can join up (it's free) and then upload a photo...and see what you would look like in all these styles.  I don't have a pic with my hair slicked back so that's what we will being doing at the gym tomorrow.  Should be fun...I always wondered what I would look like blonde or a redhead!

Ginny...glad your drains are out...you must feel sooo much better.

Everybody else....have a wonderful day...I am off to the bsmt to start my project.

CryOMG, it's terrible outside.  Sure glad I got out yesterday.  It poured rain all night, then stopped it seemed long enough to get the dogs fed, then........yep, it has barely let up.

Can't believe the amt of moisture this Fall and Winter for the fact that it seemed the lake could go almost dry this past summer.

Should be thrilled but it's hard.

Hope all the rest are staying dry.

That's it...I'm building an ark...anyone want to join me? LOL You can each bring two animals. January is the most awful month! But for those of you traveling to warmer places...enjoy! I M N Vious!

Ginny - I hated the drains...I felt like I had the ol' ball n' chain thing going on. Glad you only have a few more days!

    Girls -

I had my 2nd annual dexa scan today. Last year it showed borderline Osteporosis...yikes...I hope the calcium has worked this past year. If not, I'm in trouble.

This stinks: I have lots of deer that come by daily. They eat the bird seed I put out. Well one of the deer is limping! IT IS ABSOLUTELY breaking my heart. I really don't think there's anything I can do...any suggestions. I'm not kidding...I am very sensitive to animals in pain or suffering...Darn...

I spent the morning drawing a teddy bear holding balloons for a product I'm working on for Val Day. Then, I watercolored it...it turned out good, but I still need to take another art class to tune up my skills.

Hope you're all doing well! As Kris Carr says: Peace, love and lots of veggies!

    Hi Ladies,

I wrote a couple of paragraphs, then clicked back to check a bit of info and lost my whole comment! I'll try again.

Susan - hope school is going well and that you got the last of the term papers graded. How is your daughter?

JanClare - I'm glad you are doing better. I like your new picture!

Connie - congrats on finishing radiation. What a milestone.

Blackjack - hope you are feeling better and that you and Connie can meet up in Vegas.

Ginny - hope the drains come out soon. Back in the old days, they took them out before a patient left the hospital (this was when insurance paid for 4 days in) but then you had to go back to the doctor for about two weeks and have your arm drained with a syringe. Hope all is going well.

Kater - I didn't know you taught computers! Good for you. Hope you are having good luck in the man department!

Laura - Your lunch with JanClare sounds like fun. Wish I weren't so far away! There is a Biaggi's in Bloomington - Rita, Ginny and I could go if you went to that one!

Smerf - your trip to NY is coming up soon, isn't it? Have a good time!

Michele - hello to you and hope you are doing great.

Wendy and Jackie - have a great evening.

Rita - I emailed you yesterday. When is it you leave for FL?

The weather here makes me think we should build an ark. We have had tons of rain. Not complaining, however. It fills the well. Our youngest daughter is still home on break. Have sure enjoyed having her home (although she takes up a LOT of my computer time!). It will definitely be quiet when she leaves Friday. Daughter #4's baby was baptized Sunday at our church, then we all went out for breakfast. January must be the month to remodel. We are having some plastering done upstairs starting this week. Then I will paint.

Well, that is about all I know. Have a good evening, everyone.

Ha!!!  Talk about arks.........I live right on the banks of Kickapoo Creek.  The creek was so high this morning that I could have sat on my back deck and dangled my feet in the water.  The current of this otherwise pathetic little creek picked up the grandson's turtle sandbox and moved the whole thing across the yard where it deposited it later this afternoon when the creek again receded.  I could only get into town one way as the water was out over the road in one direction.  I had no back yard.  It was all moving water!  So yes....an ark would be nice!   LOL    Kater's the ingenious one amongst us.  Maybe she could come up with a design!  :-)

Hope everybody is doing well today.  I am hosting the bunco gals tomorrow so I'm off to make Chex mix to nibble on as well as a few other appetizers and am going to try to make space in the refrig for more pop and bottled water.  That might be an entire night project!  And talk about chemo brain.....I got my groceries and was nearly home before I remembered that I paid for two large bags of ice and never put them in my cart....so I turned around and went all the way back into town.  I'm next thing to dangerous.  I just can't remember anything anymore.  Hopefully this does improve with time and how long does it take?????   At the rate I'm going, everyone's going to think I'm senile long before my mental facilities return!

Gotta get a move on.  More later or in the morning.  I hope everyone had a great day.  Glad to see you posting MJ.  I will get to your email shortly.

Take care ladies and stay dry!

Jan-Your avatar looks great. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle my new hair! (I need to update my avatar too.)

MaryJane-Good to hear from you. I loose my messages too. I've finally learned to copy them when they get long (with cntl c) and then you can always paste them back.

Laura-I'm really sensitive when it comes to animals too. You will just have to let mother nature take it's course. Maybe he just needs time for it to heal. He is lucky to have a safe place to eat something (your bird seeds!). A couple of winters ago I hit a deer and felt awful. After I hit him I saw him slipping across the street and then laying on the grassy area. I pulled over, looked again and he was gone.

    Stay dry everyone-

    Evening ladies,

Another animal lover checking in.  I am sorry for the deer too.  Not much to do....only slight thing that would stand  a chance is if a vet used a tranquilizer dart and I doubt it's $$$$ feasible.

Well, missed the drawing at the DTL tonight.....almost $1,300.00 so the pot starts over now.  Darn it....

I needed that to contribute to the Ark---spose' we do have to put up a little extra for first class don't we Laura?

My mouth still feels a little raw but otherwise I'm back to eating just fine....as long as it's not crunchy or spicy.  Fraid' to ask.....how long does the mouth problem last, but would like to know.

Well, it's blowing like crazy out again.....don't know when we have had not only so much rain but so much wind too.

You all stay warm and dry.

Back again.  I've been working really hard and feeling better.  But boy, I feel like I'm never going to catch up with my life again, there's just so much to do!  Ack, sometimes it's just frustrating.

It was so great to talk to Laura today.  Talking is always easier then typing, LOL.  As she said, we've made plans to meet for lunch at the Biaggi's in Deer Park next Tuesday, if anyone else would like to come too?

Well, it's been rainy and gray today, but I don't think we got as much rain as others in the state.  Rita, I laughed when I read about the turtle sandbox!

And, Rita, I not only have chemo brain, I have Lyme Fog from having Late Stage Lyme 12 years ago.  I have to have post-its all over my house, I carry lists everywhere, and I'll put post-its on my steering wheel so that I don't forget where I have to go after work!

Mary Jane, I'm like Michelle, I write my posts elsewhere and then copy them in.  Because this software has some real bugs in it- too many times I've lost what I wrote!

Jackie- I've played that game (May I) before .  I think we just call it Grandma's Game, because that's who we play it with.  It's lots of fun!

Blackjack and Connie- enjoy Vegas!  I'm not much of a gambler, but I do like to play video poker in Vegas.

I've been working out with my friend Sharon most days, either cardio or weights.  We work out in her basement because it's so dark at night. We also walk about 6 miles most Saturdays.  I only gained 2 lbs over the holiday, but I'm hopeful to lose that and another 10 lbs and tone up before going to Belize at the end of March.

Hope everyone else is doing well!  I'd write more, but I have to work at 5 am and need to go to bed!

Good morning!  Just checking in before I get a move on the day!  Wendy must be posting at the same time because I NEVER beat Wendy in the morning, but then, now that hubby is back to work, she may be sleeping in!  LOL

My back yard has reappeared and most of the water has receded into the banks.  It looks like I'm going to have some good "spring cleaning" to do back there as there's all types of debris and branches that have been washed up into the yard.  It's WAY too mushy out there to worry about it now.

Laura, I worry about the wildlife, too but there is very little that you can do.  The deer heal amazingly well on their own.  The day that Mary Jane and I headed for Long Grove we saw a couple of men trying to get a young deer out of an iron fence.  It had tried to get through the slats and was caught.  Part of him was on one side and the other part was still behind the fence.  We didn't stay around to watch, but they must have gotten him out because I noticed him hobbling around.  He's one of two little twins that roam around here.  He's doing much better now and it's hard to tell which one he is!  I worried about that poor deer for weeks but mother nature is amazing!

Jackie, it shouldn't take too long for your mouth to heal.  Hang in there.  Are you using the biotene mouth wash?

JanClare...so good to have you back, hon!  I wish I was closer.  I'd join you gals for lunch next week.  Then again, Mary Jane is right!  Anytime you gals want a road trip, we have a Biaggi's here in town!!!  Keep that in mind!  :-)

O.K. Mary....I started out really bad at bowling yesterday.  Actually my feet hurt when I bent them and I was being a real wimp about it.  I had a 125 and my team members were ready to send me home.  Then I figured "what the heck....enjoy the morning and recuperate later."  I quit whining and began to concentrate and had a 197 and a 196.  Strangely enough, it seemed to help my feet and I didn't have problems with them last night.  I also think the magnesium and extra vitamin D-3 are helping, too.  Then also know Susan is right.  Lots of it is mental.  Once I lost the "poor me" attitude and zeroed in on what I wanted to accomplish, the joints improved.  OMG...I'm not only getting senile, I'm becoming a basket-case.  Send out the troops!

In the meantime, I have to entertain the ladies this afternoon and I have a cream cheese dessert (not on the diet plan) to throw together yet and the tables to set up so I should be MOVING!!!

Everyone have a good day!  More later!

    Good morning, everyone!

It's  winter again here. Our standing water is now ice, but it's supposed to be in the 40's this afternoon so back to water. This is crazy considering it was 70 on Sunday.

Rita - have a good time at bunco. You must be an expert at appetizers by now. The cream cheese dessert sounds good, but probably not on WW Core program!

Well, back to laundry and cleaning. Don't know why I'm cleaning. I'm sure the workers upstairs will be sending plaster dust everywhere. Then tonight Daughter #1 and I are going to my niece's basketball game. She recently broke both the girls' and boys' scoring records for her school. She certainly doesn't get her athletic ability from her Aunt MJ!

    Have a good day, everyone.

Hi Everyone, I hate been sick!!! I just spent the whole noc in the Emergency for asthma that I just developed. The doctor wanted to start an IV in his office for fluids, because I was dehydrated but I was not comfortable with that's so off to the  ER I went. It was very busy there...l had to listen to guy next door moan about his hernia and the other guy cough all noc.  I hope to get well before next week so I can go to Vegas. Asthma or not I am going!!

I don't know which is worse lung problems or bc. I think this radation did damage to my lungs. I never had breathing problem like this before. I feel like an old lady...100 years old that is.. Does anyone else have lung issues post radation tx??

Anyway I am off to find a pulmonary md now. Hope all is well with everyone. I hope you all have a better day than me.

    Take care,

    Wow, Blackjack!

I am so sorry.  I hate the emergency room as it takes so long to get any type of relief.  I do hope you get it very soon.  I wish I could do something to make you feel better.

Rita, you sound like you are having fun what with your bowling and luncheons!  I know what you mean about the achiness.  Can you take Alleve (spelling?) as that helps me tremendously.  I also got some calcium and vitamin D.  I am not sure if the magnesium is in there.  I know it hurts but I am convinced you need to just boldly move.  I started another thread on the pain I am feeling (I think arimidex) as I did not want to concern you.  Obviously, now that you are in pain, that is no longer a concern.  My pain moves about (weird) and so plan on it leaving your feet and going into your neck!  Or, do what I do. Make an appointment with the doctor as the pain goes away when I show up for the appointment and I feel like an idiot trying to show the doctor where it once hurt.

Mary Jane, all of your news sounds great.  I love watching kids play sports and often stay after school just to watch my boys and girls play basketball or volleyball.

JanClare, you look wonderful.  You are such a dear and it is always so good to hear from you.  What's good to eat at Trader Joe's.  I ear the lamb from Australia is fantastic.  The latter leads me to another dear animal, the deer.  Laura, I know it is heartbreaking.  We live with forest behind us and behind that is Dundee Road and across Dundee is a huge wood.  So we get hurt deer in our backyard.  The most I can do is called the Northbrook Police and they do put them out of their misery.  I love the deer except when they eat all the flowers off my tulips, leaving only the stem.

Have a great day.  Blackjack keep posting so we can send some power your way.

    Susan
