Good Morning Neighbors!  I will make an attempt and try to catch up with you all this morning.  Crazy weather we are having here.  It was in the 40's but those Chicago winds were blowing pretty darn hard.   I havent listened to the news yet so I dont know what to expect today.

Jackie:  Different doctors offer different options.  My onc and surgeon insisted on a mediport.  A coworker who went through the same chemo as I did, and at the same time.  Didnt have one.  Chemo can be very hard on the veins but it was doable for my friend.  So you had a good old fashioned melt down?  That is allowed!!  Sometimes it seems like things are going well and then all of a sudden you get bit in the butt for no explainable reason.  Hoping your feeling better today.

Laura:  So I missed part of this peel thingy.  What is it supposed to do for you?  I have the darkest circles under my eyes and still cant find anything that will cover them up or make them go away.  At least my eyeglasses hide them.

Kater:  All 3 of my animals.  One dog and 2 cats are from Save A Pet.  My DH will not let me go there anymore.  I cant resist bringing an animal home, especially knowing they need a family.

Susan:  You gave some mightly fine advice and comfort.

Nancy:  Wow!  Things are moving quickly.  I think thats good.  Waiting is the worst.  We will be thinking of you tomorrow.  I remember when I woke up from surgery, I didnt feel sad.  I felt relieved that the cancer was gone.  Sending a big hug your way.

Ginny:  Im glad you had some fluid drained and hoping your feeling better now.

Karin:  Just waving hello to you. Im so glad you found us.

Wendy:  Bwahahahaha I loved the bunny picture.  Got a good hearty laugh out of that one.

OK - time to hit the shower.  Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday.

Morning all!  Can't believe all the snow disappeared during the night.  And then I turn on Ch 9....winter storm warning.  Back to 0 degrees with wind and snow.  Rita.....have extra fun for us all!

Laura...thanks so much for the link.  I will check it out later today.  I keep looking at my crater and I really think I would be happy to stop right there.  I think you just might be tired from all your painting this weekend, even if you did have some help.  Time for a toes-up, as they say in England!

Now to Jackie.....meltdowns are very common.  I still get mine, just not as often.  They don't last long but they can be scary.  Like Nicki said, they seem to come out of nowhere and there you are, bawling like a baby.  So honey....cry away.  It's normal and healing.  Wish I could be there to give you a special hug, but I'll try this way.....

there...did you get that!  It's from all of us!

Nancy....well, depending on how we look at things these days, I think you got some good news!  Sounds as if your surgery will be breast-sparing for the most part and I am happy for you.  As for the nipple thing (Susan....this goes for you as well)....maybe just scotch tape a raisonette in the proper place.  But I guess that wouldn't work too well in the summer....melting chocolate all over everything.  Any other suggestions for our two gals?  Oh c'mon....I hear you laughing.  The 30th is actually almost here and then that cancer is outta there!!!

I will write more later....I need to go back and reread some posts on the previous page and when I do that...my comment  goes "poof" and spirals off into cyberland.  Off to fix breakfast for DH, off to gym, off to postoffice to p/u the package that they were supposed to redeliver yesterday and then maybe Best Buy as one of the gals at the gym had that little iPod shuffle...smaller than a matchbook and holds around 240 songs.  Now that's a music player that actually makes sense for me.

Hugs and smiles everybody.  Thanks for being my friends!

    Mornin' Ladies,

Wendy....I got that big hug and it helps tremendously.  Thanks to you too, Nicki.  I'm sure I'm on the mend now....I'm ready to do almost nothing and get it done.  Few errands and then what????

Hey I love the raisonette idea.  I say cover it in polyurethane and maybe it won't melt.  Do I see this group getting famous for their clever ingenuity in using resources we already have.  Just teasin', but I guess sometimes if we can't laugh at ourselves and lighten our own burden to a degree we'd end up helpless.

Well, I'm on to the morning chores and other fun things.  Ya'll don't work too hard.

OMG - all these posts to catch up on!!! Just a quick drop by to say hi, back from Vegas, no really big jackpots, had alot of fun though. We stayed at the MGM, not the Monte Carlo. I guess the fire was in the back because we passed it via cab, and I didn't see anything.

I don't know if I can ever get caught up on these posts, but I'll try so if there was something that I needed to reply to, please post again.

Wendy, no I did not need to tie the sheets together :)

    Be back later - hugs

Hello!  Hello!  I came home early.  Goofy weather.  Still warm out right now, but soon the cold front comes in.  Rain, ice, snow!

    Michelle:    Welcome back.

Im gonna go step outside and take a whiff of the 50 degrees before the temp plunges.  Have a good evening - everyone.

    Good early evening,

    OMG, you wouldn't believe!!!!!!!

3 pm.  DH calls and it's still above 55 and sunny.

3:30 p.m.  It gets eerily dark very quick and the wind is bending these poor dormant trees all over the place.

3:50 p.m. It's pouring down an unbelievable amt. of water.

4 p.m.  Now we have hail as the cold is rapidly coming in.

5 p.m.  It's cold as all get out and their is snow.  Small....it would have to snow for three weeks for it to accumulate but it's snow.

Hope you are all staying dry and warm up North which means inside and by the fire.  It's scary what this weather does lately.   Talk at ya later.

Welcome back, Michele! It's good to hear from you, and we are all glad you weren't staying at the Monte Carlo. Sorry you are probably in some kind of temperature shock here after being in LV.

I am so not caught up on all the posts yet, but getting there. Dh has been home too much, and he stays on the computer for hours working on all his stuff.

Susan  I think Rita had a good idea for you. Your writing style is so easy to read, and your stories are so entertaing that you could write a book. I really hear you about nipples, and changes in appearance. I've gotten almost used to the scars, but nipple issues are there in summer. I still have two, but they don't match at all. One is about an inch higher than the other, and one is way over on the side instead of the middle. I found some nipple covers that fit over the area and under your bra. They seem to take care of the problem for me. I found them at Nordstrom's, and at brasmyth.com. I'm like you, and I don't like anymore medical procedures than I absolutely must have!

Rita   I hope you are having a warm and wonderful time in Florida! Mmmmm.... fresh squeezed oj.

Jackie   I'm sorry you were feeling poorly, and glad you're better. You sure are entitled to a melt down now and then after what you're going through! Tears are a great stress reliever, so you just let them come and then let us know so we can help you dry them off. We've all been there, and we understand.

On another subject you know something about, my sister has taken seven feral cats into her house. I haven't seen them as she keeps them in a spare room. She just thinks it's better for them to be inside rather than in danger from cold and other animals. Is this wise I wonder? I thought it was best to just give them some food and water outside.

Laura  You're so cute I can't imagine you needing any work on your face. That said,  I say go for it, girl! Anything that makes us feel better is so worth it, but this old lady might not want to sit too close to you at our next get together! Lol

Nicki   I'm so glad to see you back! Your graphic today was so perfect for this gray day. You and Wendy provide a lot of cheer around here.

Wendy  I too have the problem of losing posts out in cyberspace. I guess I'm doing okay for a complete computer novice. Yesterday I couldn't log on because the computer had me blocked from this site through parental controls. I had to get dh to unblock me as he is the administrator of the account.  We had a good laugh about that one as it's been a long time since I've had parental supervision. He did remove aol9.1 for me, and now we're using 9.0 VR. I know this site is not secure, but I do get frustrated at being blocked from it.

I've got to do something about dinner, and then maybe I can do some more catching up. Have a good evening all, and stay warm.

    Smerf;

Hope I don't get cut off from sending out.  The weather is so bad here with high wind gusts.  We don't get much of that and seems to wreak havoc on sending and receiving now and then.

Re:  feral cats.  They can come in.....I just wonder how she got them all in.....but if she can enter the room and not have them panic....and put down food and water and clean litter pans...then I would say it may be fine.

Feral cats...in fact, most cats can find ways to stay ok outside.  They can find nooks and crannies and huddle together etc.  It is a hard life though but all feral animals take their life in stride and don't fight against it.  It is often hard for us to watch---I really hate it, but they can do all right.  If your sis is willing to have them inside and they don't mark or get destructive in some way I don't see a big problem.  Just hope there is not a lot of mating going on  as that would make some big problems later.

    Hope I helped.

    Jackie

p.s.  all my cats, feral and otherwise have been spayed or neutered, and this makes a huge difference as far as them being inside.

Michele - Glad you had a good time! Sorry you had to come back to this weather!

IT IS HORRIBLE OUTSIDE! OMG - I am really concerned that a huge Oak is going to fall on our house! It's brutal out there...

Hope you're all snuggled up and cozy and warm on such a very blustery night (we call it a Winnie-the-Pooh night.)

Smerf - Glad you popped in...I finally got to a point where I could no longer share a computer with dh. LOL I made him get his own! LOL Hey...I'm not having that much done to the ol' face. Nothing invasive, just a skin peel and some laser to remove the fine lines and age spots and dark patches. You're right, it really is more a matter of how we feel than how we look. And, by the way, you look great!

Jackie - Since we're both in a forest...hope neither has any major problems with this weather...yikes! I really feel sorry for any domesticated animals out there. I don't think I told you...I have a cat who lives in our basement. He showed up right after my Mast in August of 2005. As sick and in pain as I was, I fed him every night. He finally let me pet him. And then he let me brush him. He's gorgeous! Long, Persian like fur. Before I knew it, winter was here and he wouldn't yet come in, so I made him a house on our deck and ran an electric heating pad to it. This winter he is finally in all the time. Still wants to go out once in a while, but he has come around. He's was never ferel...I think someone moved, and he happened to be out roaming and they just left him. My dh is allergic, so I can't bring him upstairs in our house, but we recently had our basement finished and he has a real nice place to live. I go down and play with him several times a day...and feed him twice a day (I sound like kater!). His newest boredom buster is playing in the toilet with the water!  LOL He's a sweetie, but I would like to find him a home, now that I know he may have the potential of being a 100% stay at home kitty!

    BE SAFE GIRLS...be warm...be well...and just be!

Morning all!  You know....I think the above picture really does it say it all.  I think we will be together forever and I love having that warm, fuzzy feeling...always knowing that you guys are there 24/7 and you will understand.  So...thanks!

OK....this weather is for the penguins.  52 yesterday, -4 this morning, and was I the only one up for quite a bit last night?  That howling....jeepers.  Not much snow tho which was a good thing as I was dragging out the garbage cans at 6am today...didn't want to put them out last night as I didn't want to go chasing them.

Michele...glad you are back.  Don't worry about catching up...sometimes it is just impossible.

Smerf....I remembered what you had said about 9.1 AOL so I never have switched over.  But how the heck can I stop that stupid pop-up, telling me to switch?  Very annoying.

Jackie...you sound better.  Glad the hug helped!

Hey Blackjack....you OK?  I know you are going to Maui but I thought it was sometime in Feb.  We miss you!

Karin...I think your graphics are great and I am impressed that you do your own.  Sure wouldn't know how to do that!  So I just go back thru Nicki's posts from about a year ago and steal hers.  I figure with chemobrain, she'll never notice (hee-hee).

And I agree....if Laura wasn't so sweet I wouldn't want to sit next to her either.  Maybe we should just make her sit at another table after all her "work" is done.  I did go to their website but it didn't tell me too much.

OK....now the important stuff!  As you may have read, I got an iPod (the littlest one, holds about 240 songs).  It was EASY!  This little thingy is HALF the size of a matchbook and clips on your clothes and the sound is phenomenal.  Just perfect for working out.

Well....today is PO Day!  (port-out).  Did you ever think we would be this happy to be sliced open once again!  Wish me luck!

Everybody else...hope you are doing well and are happy.  I miss Rita!!!

OK -I am officially ready for spring.  This cold sucks!!!  I don't mind snow - but the bitter cold drives me insane. That wind last night was unbelievable.

Glad you made it back from Vegas, Michele - sorry you didn't win big, but I'm sure you had a fun time.

I have Southwest's Ding program installed on my computer as we often fly them.  So, today it pops up with the daily specials and it says "Want to go somewhere cool?"  Uh - no, I'm a little cold right now, I would rather go somewhere hot!!

    Have a great day girls!

    Mornin'all,

Wow !!!!  The outdoor temps.  Brutal.  Wendy you are such a breath of fresh air everyday and it's not like what's outside, thank goodness.  I think you are right.....this could very well form great unions that will never come apart.  So few ( maybe not any ) would have met and learned to have such great appreciation for each other without a stinking disease....who'd thunk, huh !!!!

Hip-Hip-Hooray for the LOSS of your port.  Here's one time you can say an operation is looked so forward too.  You go get em!!!!

By the week-end it's due to be 40 here....can't wait.  I am so very tired of the strange extreme weather.

Super Bowl parties are just around the corner.  Sorry, I'm not a sports fan much.  But we will go to friends this time.  I'd not go anywhere but people would hunt us down ( like common criminals ) at home, so we picked a place ( friends ) no one would think about and we will be safe and sound.

Hope you all missed a lot of the snow last night.

Try to stay warm and inside if you can.

Good Luck while we get our port out again Wendy.

    See ya,

    Jackie.

P.S.  Connie your mail must have showed up while I was writing....talk about wanting to put your hands around someone's neck and squeeze, huh !!!!  Some where cool...just tell them you'll trade places with them...it's bound to be better unless they are in
    Antarctica right now.

    Hi Girls,

Just thought I pop in and say hi to all. Yesterday was another 13 hour day at work. I am so tied of paper work and computer work. I came home and had good intentions to stop by and chat but I fell asleep on the couch. I am off to see a new lung specialist for this asthma I have this am. The last few days have been terrible. I feel like a hundred years old. I need to get this cleared up before Sat.

I think that the warm sunshine and beach will do me good.

I hope everyone stays warm inside..be happy be healthy and have a great day.

Karin....a lot of your pics/graphics don't come thru on my 'puter - just get the dreaded little box with the red x.  I assume it is me????

Nancy....how are you doing?  Blackjack....can I come with you?  I miss my "home".  Rita....having fun?  Nicki...always love to see you around these parts - you gave me very good advice last January and I will aways be grateful to you for that!

Well.....local is wearing off and the ouchy is beginning so I am off to take something.  Everyone...thanks for celebrating with and for me.

    Afternoon,

So glad you are back and all went well at the Doc's for you Wendy.

    I'm sure it's a major relief.

Blackjack did your new Dr. say anything about the possibility of some of the damage healing itself to any degree.  I was thinking maybe given some time that some of the radiation effects could ease back to a certain level.  Have you always had some asthma???

Weather is not lots better today but the typhoon winds did die down and that is a real relief.

I'm with you TBear....I think Blackjack should take us with her to the beach....c'mom Spring!!!!!

    Hi  Girls,

Wendy.. thank you for the aloha pic and yes I can't wait to get there.

You can fly out there and we will celebrate yeh!!! Pina Colada's for everyone. Everyday is a new day with this disease and everyday is a celebration day when we all feel good!!!

Jackie.. I never had asthma in the past but the rads did me in this summer. I was told that I could have some damage as to were they were zapping me. So now I have new meds to try..so we will see how I do. Funny thing is that when I exercise which is 2hrs every day at the gym I don't have a problem.  Go figure that one.

Karin.. I love your cute pics. I think you and Wendy should post pics everyday for us girls who don't know how to do this!

Nicki.. Your smile tiger is so cute.. don't work to hard. Be careful driving home. Oh you know those Chicago drivers can be awful.

NancyLa.. sending a big hug and hope you are doing ok.

Pat.. How is the decorating going? Are you having fun yet. What colors are you doing your br in?

    Laura..how are you doing?? resting!!

    Morning everyone,

A quickie before I go to work this a.m.  Forget Spring....I think we are in for it again.  Probably will be snowing before I come home from work this afternoon....sounds like 8 to 11 inches.  Oh Joy!!!  Good thing I like snow and we really haven't had much this yr.

Hope you are all going to have a wonderful day today...whatever you do.  I'll be thinking about you while I'm sitting inside watching the snow come down.

Morning Girls!  Well...temp not too bad out but I am dreading this latest storm that is brewing.  I'm with Jackie...c'mon Spring!

Pat....did you pick your fixtures?  What color?

Blackjack....if I don't "talk" to you before you fly off, have the most perfect time.  Just wondering....are you wearing a sleeve/gauntlet?  I know Tom really wants to go back to Hawaii but I am reluctant to fly for all those hours.  I'm thinking I will just get my feet wet, so to speak this summer and fly to Florida to see all his family.  I know...I am a weenie.

Karin...both your pictures came thru just perfectly this time. But I do see that you posted a beach picture.  That one didn't come thru.  You are very sweet to redo them for me.  I think I remember this correctly...you have a brother in Elgin?  I am in South Elgin, just 2 blocks W of Rt 31.  In fact, if he knows where the Anderson Animal Shelter is...if you walked all the way thru their property, climbed the fence and rolled down the hill...you'd be on my deck!  If you come to visit him, let me know!

Jackie....wonder indeed why you were not TOLD to get a port, let alone OFFERED one.  I had to laugh...ONLY 6 months of chemo????  ONLY?????  You are one strong....dare I say it....broad!  We need to meet.  I'm not a sports fan whatsoever and DH does not like going to superbowl parties as he likes to get really into the game so we stay home.  I just hope there are some good old movies on television.

Nicki...we just love it when you pop in.  Keep popping!

JanClare....we miss you!  I think you were going to Belize...did I get that correct?  Did you leave already?  Are you OK?

Laura...are you all rested up?  Take your calcium, girlfriend.

Everybody else...have a great day.  And those of you who need to be out and about this evening, please be careful driving.  Doesn't sound too good for the rush hour.

Karin - I'm in the same boat as Wendy - I can see your two graphics (bear and bear and mouse) but I can't see the beach picture.  Hmmm...

Glad all went well with the port removal, Wendy.  It's a good feeling, isn't it?

Have a great trip, blackjack.  Hawaii is one of my favorite places!  Always warm and sunny.  Sorry to hear about your asthma.  My dh has it - it triggers by cold weather, dogs and horses.  Sounds like you might need a permanent move to Maui!

Hope I make it home from work before the storm.  I like the snow, but don't like being in rush hour in it!

    Enjoy the day girls!!
