Well, it looks like a lot of folks are walking ths year.  Laura, I am in for the September Komen.  They are predicting another snow day if this stuff dumps down.  It was novel the first time, but I do not want to be going to school through June.

    Afternoon,

So far we have not gotten all the crappy weather that was predicted, but sounded like it was really due to come in late this afternoon.  It's nearly 4 and so far, so good.

Wendy, thank goodness I'm not getting 12 treatments of the Taxotere......getting 4 spaced three weeks apart.  That will tie me up for another 12 weeks and then on to radiation.

Tomorrow is the last A/c......then a week from tomorrow I have to go back to Marion and have blood work, x-rays and a meeting with the oncology department.  I'm sure they wil fill me in then on what I can expect.

Sort of interesting that they never asked me if I had Internet.  I looked up Taxotere long time ago.  Well, they may have some paperwork printed out on it like they did the A/c.  Anything will help.

Not looking forward to work Thursday and wondering if I will make it on Friday.  I barely got through my Friday last time without calling for help.  Worked today, and have to be in Marion by 8:30 in the morning....75 mile drive so...no rest for the wicked.  It's pretty much an all day thing in Marion....hope the weather is not too crummy.  Can't remember going down there when it wasn't to tell the truth.

Well, someone is coming from the office......how's this for brain drain.  Three weeks ago I went to a Southern Home party.  The hostess took my coat and when I got ready to leave she brought me one.  Well, turns out some poor lady that lives next door kept saying she did not have her coat.........and no one believed her.  Turns out I had hers and she had mine.  Did I know that!!!!!!!??????? Not til' this afternoon.  They were both black short coats.  Don't know why she couldn't be happy with mine....Hers fit me just right.  Ah,,,,,ignorance really is bliss.

Well, best get outside.  Talk to you soon.

    Jackie

Jackie - You have done really well! I know you've weathered the chemo storm, but I know it's not an easy thing to do, and you have remained very positive and upbeat. I'm sure there were times when you just wanted to scream...but you have prevailed girl! And you are one tough Illinois Girl! I'm proud of you...best wishes tomorrow. And good luck with your tests and meeting. Let us know what transpires...we're here for the long haul, neighbor! YOU DID GOOD! Hey...what's a little snow in comparison to the chemo storm!  Laughing

Jackie - one more thing...I really suggest that you ask about a port...if indeed you are going to have 12 taxoteres. Hear them out...

Jackie....I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.  Laura is right!  You have done very well with the AC.  It is tough, but you have kept a positive attitude and we're all proud of you.  You can get through this next part of the journey, too.

I hope all goes well tomorrow!

Hang in there! I think it's just terrible that you have to travel so far for treatments!  You are one tough Illinois gal!!!!

    Jackie,

Hooray, only one more AC tx! You really are a tough Illinois lady! This is an important milestone, and you can mark it off your to do list and be proud of yourself. I hope taxotere is easier for you. I had 4AC followed by 12 weekly taxols, and the taxol was much easier than the AC. I could not have worked during AC, so I think you are doing wonderfully well.

I hope the weather is not too bad where you are, and wish you didn't have to drive so far fir treatments. I'm thinking of you, and wishing you well!

I am with you tomorrow in spirit.  You have been so kind  and brave to us all.  We care so much about you. Taxotere is so much easier than other chemo, or so I hear.

KissA million thanks for all your well wishes for today.  With so much company today I'll do super.

What a wild night last night.  The wind blew, it poured, we had lightning and the thunder.  Lightning struck somewhere close to us.......... Bonnie ( my small nurse cat ) flew off my lap, and Baby Boss who was laying on the bottom of the recliner by my legs started barking like crazy.  It was a massive crack.  I looked out but couldn't see anything.  Very dramatic.  We were to get at least 2 inches of water and I don't doubt but what we did.  It's still raining this morning.

Hope you all did fine during the night....

    Talk to you later.

    Jackie

p.s.  Didn't I hear Blackjack say she was going to stow us away on her trip this time?????

Morning!  I can't get graphics this morning...again!  OK Kater....what did you do?????  Only kidding!  AND.....

Congrats Kater on your one year anniversary of being a tough bc survivor!!!!!  You go girl!!!!

Jackie...I knew I had the 12 correct!  It was just 12 weeks of tx, not 12 taxoteres!  I had that for part of my 6 rounds and I did get some tingling in my fingertips and toes and for the last 2 rounds I got ankle swelling but only on the R ( I had fx'd the L ankle years ago and that's why onc. thought that one couldn't swell).  My nails survived the tax. only to have the Herceptin finally do them in, caused severe softening/peeling.  But they are fine now, just short - but growing!  But you did it!!!!  I'm so happy for you!!!  One more step taken in your journey/battle/war!!!

    Blackjack.....HELP!!!!!  Come and get us!!!!!

Well...school is closed today.  We only have about 1/4" on the ground but district we guess is too afraid of what is to come...don't want to have thousands of kids stuck at school with no buses.  Elgin is the 2nd largest district in Il, just behind Chicago so I think they made the right move. Funny thing tho....phone rings at 5:15am, school closed (there is a snow tree).  Tom starts his tree for his school, and the other line is ringing.  False alarm, they think.  There is school.  So Tom starts a new tree, calling his staff.  I turn on the computer and channel nine on TV...nothing on either.  Then up pops the notice on the U46 website- no school. But still not on Wgn as of 6am.  Phone is ringing again I hear!!!  Wonder what the mix-up was....

Oh well...I can see the snow has started out here.  I am staying put and giving up the SUV for the day.  I don't think I will gain too much weight by staying home from the gym for a day....snowblowing should take care of the exercising!

Everbody....please drive safely.  Jackie - please be extra careful on your long drive.

Laura - take your calcium.  I took mine yesterday.  Unfortunately it dawned on me that I forgot to take the arimidex/synthroid!  Oh well...it was only one day.  I think I will be just fine...but now I will put all the bottles out, next to my programmed coffeemaker so I remember every morning - I know I will never forget to pour that first cup of java.  I am very interesting without coffee.  You wouldn't want to see....very scary.

    Hugs and Smiles everybody!!!!

Hey Jackie....just wanted to let you know that I am so glad that you found us and I think I can speak for everyone.  We all add something different to this little group but you have become our philosopher and dare I say it...our straight man???  You have got to be killer at parties, with all your sly little jokes/sayings.  Thanks for being our friend!

Killer story about the coats, by the way!

Good morning ladies!  It's raining here this morning and very ugly and dismal.  We've had so much rain that my back yard has gigantic puddles.  If it keeps up, the yard will be nonexistent by this evening.  There are no school closings around here.  It's just wet and soggy.

I'm off to bowl again this morning.  The Wednesday morning ladies league was looking for somebody to fill out the season for a gal who has some health problems.  It only goes until March 19th so I said I'd do it.  I don't know the other ladies who are on the team that I am joining, but I'm always up to meeting new people and I love to bowl so I'm going to give it a try.

I hope all of you have a good day.  I'll catch you all later.

Hi girls - just checking in to say hi - it's been a few days.

Good luck on the last tx, Jackie - the end will be here before you know it!

Our schools are still open today.  I stayed home from work expecting the worst, but we just have a half inch of slush.  I just didn't want my hour commute to turn into 5 hours.  So, I'll drop the kids off in a few and have a nice day to myself.  Well, I am really working from home and I have 4 conference calls to be on today, but it won't be too bad.

Well, I changed my mind about going to Vegas on the girls trip since I was just there.  I decided that I just wanted to be a kid again so we are going to Disney World!!  We made our reservations yesterday and we are going Mother's Day weekend (Thurs - Sun).  Everyone is really excited!  So, I will be walking in spirit with you YMe participants.  Believe me - I will be walking!

Thanks for checking in from Hawaii, blackjack.   You are so lucky to be in the nice warm weather.

Nice to have you back, Rita.  Glad you had a great time!

    Stay warm today everyone!

Boy, this weather sucks.  You never know what to expect.  Right now it is raining/sleeting. Kids are in school today and I don't have to work til 12:45.  Last Friday, the kids were out of school and State

Farm(where I work) was closed too.  So, I had a 3 day weekend..

I just celebrated my 1 year at State Farm.  Even though I havn't actually worked a year with all my time off for chemo and radiation..

I am still tired alot.  I actually went to bed at 8:30 last night.

Connie...Lucky you getting to go to Disney World.  Hope you have a good time.

Blackjack....I wanna go to Hawaii...Hope you are having fun.  We were going to go for our 25 wedding anniversary but it didn't work out with my going thru chemo and stuff.

Rita....we need to get together soon...How about next week.

Jackie..glad you are getting your last A/C.  For me the last one was the worst.  You know they say it all accumulates and boy does it.

I had taxol after that and the only thing bad was bone pain that lasted about 3 days.  I am glad that is over with.

I am interested in doing the different walks.  I think they will be alot of fun.

Gotta go and get ready for work and lay down for a bit.

Nicki   So glad you are okay!  The only ones having fun are the kids next door. No school, and they are having a ball outside.

Laura....We're having a blizzard too! My dh did the driveway this morning, but he'll have to do it again when ne gets home. That is his only chore, so I let him have it. He thinks the snowblower is too big for me to use, so I let him do it. It makes him feel good. We had about a foot on the ground from last week, and then the rain turned some of it into slush. We also lost our phone service last night. Both lines with no dial tone, and AT&T says it'll be back Friday. Good thing we have cell phones these days. Dh always has to have phone available for work.

Blackjack.... You couldn't have chosen a better time to be in Hawaii. Please have a pina colada for us!

Rita... How did you ever decide on tile? I've been looking for two days, and there are so many! I'm trying to stay with neutral colors, and white plumbing fixtures. I have a 50's pink and gray bath, and a 70's brown and gold, so they need some updating.

I've been having so much back pain with sciatica this winter that we've decided to do an MRI. Doctor's don't think it's anything, because it gets better when I lie down, but my hubby and I want to know. I've had sciatica off and on for the last thirty years, so it isn't something new. The bc dx causes a little more concern, so I hope I don't get snowed in as my appointment is at 5:45 today.

Kater...Congrats on your one year anniversary! I'm coming up on two years next week. Feels good, doesn't it?

Have to go clean, and look at my tile samples!

My husband Larry and I would love to meet you all for the walk.  I think registering individually works.  Let's coordinate meeting once the date is closer.  Looking forward to meeting you all. Laughing

I meet in the morning with my radiation oncologist and next week with my medical oncologist......Also, my surgeon says I can go back to work next week.  I am so excited!!!  The train has left the station and is moving full speed ahead.

Oh goodness!  Its really, really snowing.  Im so glad Im home!  Ive heard blizzard conditions by Lake Forest Oasis on 294!

Laura:  That picture is amazing at that was 2 hours ago.  Bet you have double that cause the snow is coming down incredibly hard.  I actually did take my dog out and romped in it for a bit.  It is good snowball snow.  I sure hate to think about the drive home for so many who did go into work.  Whew.

Smerf:  Oh no!  I hope you dont have to reschedule the MRI. Sciatic is awful.  If your not snowed in good luck with the test.

Nancy:  Your post made me smile, yes once you get your treatment plan and start going with it, things do get easier I do believe.

Laura...WOW!  You do have snow.  Your deck and surrounding area reminds me alot of my back yard.  We did get about an inch of snow.  It snowed like crazy later this morning and now there are just a few flurries cascading down.

Connie....I think that "being a kid again" is a good choice.  You will have so much fun at Disney World!!!!  I'm so glad you have the chance to go.  Those fun family vacations build so many memories that stay with you forever.

Pat..so funny that you commented on the tile selection process.  We looked and looked for just the right tile.  Finally we found one that we liked but it was much higher than we really wanted to pay.  Still, we decided to go with it because we just couldn't find anything else.  As we were walking down the row to order it, I happened to glance up and saw another tile that pulled everything together MUCH better.  How we missed it in the first place, I'll never know!  Anyway, the price was more to our liking and we changed at the last minute.  It is now stacked in the garage, just waiting for the arrival of the tub, sinks, and stool which should arrive next week if all goes as planned.  It took us FOREVER to coordinate everything and I sure hope the end results look like we think they will when it's done.

Kater...YAH HOO!  You've hit the year mark.  Congratulations, gal!  I wish you many more yearly celebrations!

Well...back to writing scholastic bowl questions for me.  Be careful if you venture out in this weather.

Well, it is 2:00 pm and I am in school watching the SNOW!  I have been asked to sub in a collegue's last class as he lives in Gurnee and I live 10 minutes away (Wilmette to Northbrook). We are trying to cover the staff who lives further away.  I am fine with that.  I am just feeling like I literally want to get the show on the road.  We cannot let our kids out early as many would go to an empty home.  What a year!

Nancy, so glad you can walk with us.  Yes, we will find a spot to meet.  maybe the snow will be gone by then.  On top of eveything else, I was up so late watching the returns.  I am exhausted!

    Hi ladies,

We are going to be moving again (ack!  Ick!  Bleech!) hopefully in the beginning of the summer-that is, if we can successfully sell this curse of a house.   I have my organizer friend coming here this weekend, and we are going to spend Friday and Saturday staging the house like crazy.  She is a GENIUS with organizing and staging, if anyone wants to hire her.  She let her business license end last year, but she still does it on the side.

So, we are going to move to Frankfort/Tinley Park/Orland Park area.  I don't know-all I know and remember from that area is the Orland Park Mall, filling shifts at the Orland Starbucks when I worked for Starbucks in college, and going to concerts in Tinley Park.

I grew up in Westmont, for those of you who don't remember me from before I moved last May from Peoria.

Pearl, I was born in Brookfield, and as a matter of fact, I was in Brookfield about 2 weeks ago for a funeral, and on a whim, tried to find the house I lived in till I was 4.  I found it, and the owner was pulling up to the house and getting out.  Like a nut, I yelled over to him that I used to live there, and he let me in!!!!  It was so cool-I remembered little bits and pieces, and could visualize myself sitting in the tiny (and I do mean TINY) front room playing with my mom's lipstick. I remembered the big twisting staircase going to the upstairs apartment (which I guess is now all just owned by one family).

Anyway, it was fun, and so much appreciated!

Laura-thanks for asking about my aches and pains, and no, they aren't better.  I thought I was going to have instant relief once I went to the pain clinic, but they want to give it time as they mess around with doses of meds.  Argh.

Ok, better go!  Love and prayers,Deb

kater - 1 year...that's great...have you worked on that pulley yet?

Nancy wrote - The train has left the station and is moving full speed ahead.

Fasten your seatbelt, you'll be perfectly safe and you'll arrive at the next chapter of your life in tact and in good company.

Deb - Hopefully the pain expert dudes will get things under control. I live far north in Illinois...lots of wooded areas by me. Our property is quite large. Good luck with your move. I would like to have all the Illinois girls at my house this summer for a get-together!

    Afternoon all,

Now don't anyone get mad, but Jesus, Joseph & Mary...........was it ever a wild ride to Marion.  DH doesn't let grass or anything else grow....the wind was whipping us around like a tinker-toy and the pedal is down to 75 m.p.h. and staying there.  I'm yelling silently to everything in sight.......get out of the way, get out of the way, it's DH husband who thinks he was trained by Mario Anddretti--your life is at stake....move over.

Ok.......no wonder I was nauseas when I got there...who wouldn't be !!!!  I'm proud to announce that all my blood numbers and anything else they check were right where they were susposed to be.  I was sweating bullets and anything else that was metal as I just wanted to get #4 done and no delays please.  So, we did it.  I'm the proud owner of A/C #4 deposited by vein to my interior all set in a day or two to wreak a little havoc but what do I care....it's the last one.

Laura, I think the V.A. is not anxious to use ports for us short-timers as they did not present it as an option and I didn't know to even ask.  I do think since I often "feel" my veins in my lower rt. arm now that I'm taking a bit of a beating in that area, but as I only have I guess 4 more treatments......have to meet with Dr. Lingamurthy this coming Wednesday, it wouldn't be worth it to do anything now.

Gosh, I won't complain about our windy weather here.....all of you in the North are really having some big major weather problems.

You will all be in my thoughts and lots of vibes coming your way to be safe---those who must be on the road, and for those home that your power holds and no problems that way.  Really seems very dicey there and I'm not going to whine about a little wind.....even though we passed three 18-wheelers turned over in the median along the way to Marion.

Anything you must do.....please do with care.

    Jackie

p.s.  Here's a nice little ditty you might like Wendy........

Here's to you and here's to me

    May we never disagree

But if we do the heck with you  ( changed that one word )

    And here's to me.

    Just kiddin' you know.

Deb:  Good to see you. So its back to Illinois for you.  See you just cant stay away.  Orland Park is a beautiful town.  I dont know about the other two.

Jackie:  Whoo hoo!  #4 is over thanks God for that.  So your at the half way mark!!  Funny reading about your DH driving.

Just looked outside again and all I can say is "Oh my gosh."
