Hi Julie… February is a good month for exchange. Bet you can't wait! Glad you found us. This is an amazing group. I'm a city gal. I live near the zoo/nature museum.

Hi, Julie and welcome to our family here. I live in Crystal Lake too. Let me know if you ever want to get together. I work from home so am usually pretty flexible.
Lemondrop, I have been thinking of you recovering from lat flap surgery and hope that everyday gets easier. I am sure that Dr K did a beautiful job on those new foobs. Remember that I am just a phone call away if you need help, even coordinating kids drop offs and pick ups.
We saw the movie, "Lincoln" last night too. Great, great movie. I am sure there will be some Academy Awards there.0 -
I feel so welcome! Yay! I really don't have much of a support network that includes women that have been through BC so I love this site! So much information and personal stories.
Hi Joan888 how awesome that you live in CL too! I actually live in Prairie Grove but many people have never heard of it so I sometimes just say CL.

Back from the BS. He thinks the lump near my SLN surgery is scar tissue wrapped around a stitch. Had no idea that there were stitches as deep as that. I'm to come back if something changes. Whew! What a lot of energy wasted on worry.
Movetomaui, momto7 and all recent new gals, you'll find lots of help and comfort here.

Doxie -
Good to hear he believes it to be scar tissue.
Hope you are able to have peaceful rest and sleep tonight.0 -
Welcome Julie....I hope you'll love it here. I don't post as much as I use too, but I usually put in a quote every day to try and help everyone start their day on a high note. Glad you found us.
Doxie....huge sigh of relief. Everything for a time is going to be a catastrophe just waiting to trap you, but you usually reach a point where it takes too much energy and emotion to keep seeing dire diagnosis and your new normal begins......and that is where you get to go back to most of the regularly scheduled programs that was your life before. You'll still worry but you will be able to have a special compartment for it after your new normal takes over. I'm so glad that it was "nothing" much. Here's to you -- hear-hear.
Hugs, Jackie

Julie: Welcome to this great group of gals!
Mdg and C2: Congrats on your milestones.
Doxie: Good to hear your news. I have had soreness around the same area recently. It feels like a burning sensation. My one-year check up is next month. Don't know if it's scar tissue, or cause for concern.
Momto7: Sending ((hugs)) your way!

Julie-welcome, stop in often!
Doxie-good news. A few month after my BMX/recon I had a lump near the SNL site on one side and it hurt like heck and was contantly "poking" me. I went to my BS and she did a biopsy right in the office-it was a stich or something and it was gone and I felt sooo much better. I'm so glad you went and got it taken care of right away.
Can you believe this weather?

Doxie great news. I think everyone has one of these scares within the first year PFC. I had one although my onc was more concerned than I was. I just assumed it was something my PS did. She told me if he didn't know what it was then I should see my BS. Freaked me out a little but my "lump" was just some fat that my PS put there. BTW I remember having a stitch removed my my PS several months later. Felt a lot better when it was out!
kjiberty if you're near the zoo you let me know. Any thing exciting planned for Chicago?

Boob or no Boob ... tonight I put my big girl panties on, two sports bras, my pink ribbon headband and got on the Treadmill! Walked 2, 15-minute miles (thanks to a kick-ass iPod playlist)! Must admit I got a little emotional. It has been 4 months since I exercised, 3 months since my Breast Cancer diagnosis, and 7 1/2 weeks since my Mastectomy. I ROCKED IT! Set a goal for 100 miles by New Years Eve!

Love the attitude, movetomaui! Keep it up.
PS: How do I already know you will in fact not budge one bit on ATTITUDE!

MovetoMaui.... good for you! I am inspired! We will have to get together in CL.
I have been putting in the miles on my recumbent bike and walking, walking, walking. I still have PT twice a week until I see my back surgeon again next week. Then I hope to get released to hop on my real bike! Oh, yeah... winter is coming. Well, guess I will get my butt in gear and get over to the health club. Great to keep moving!
Doxie... glad you got good news.

movetomaui I'm betting you make it. I power walked through most of my chemo treatment… and stopped because it was winter December/January. I regretted stopping. I felt better when I kept moving. I was a little slower than my old pace but not by much. I could not exercise without my shuffle or iphone music. My ipod died.
Joan the way the weather is going you might be able to get in a few bike rides yet!
Just visited invisible yesterday at the west loop condo. She had some complications but is doing great.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! You guys are awesome!
mdg - My back is a little sore this morning but I do have back issues. I had a lumbar fusion in May of 2009 so I'm really not surprised (it's been almost 4 months too).
Spunkyboobs - I love that idea to "walk" to Maui ... so I did a little research. Found a distance calculator and from Crystal Lake to our favorite Maui town it is a total of 4,166 miles! If I walk 3 miles for the next 1,388 days I might get there in about 4 years (I think I did the math right)! Might be my future goal ... thanks for the idea!
Joan888 - I would love to meet up sometime for a walk!
Lago - Hopefully you have a new iPod on your holiday wish list. I agree, I could never exercise without tunes either!

Hi Ladies,
I've been absent for several weeks. My old laptop gave out on me and I had to buy a new one. The new one has Windows8 so I've had a real learning experience. Thank goodess for the young man at Computer Deli who finally got all my files copied, my email set up again, and then had the patience to show me where to find everything. Whew! I think we have everything hooked up execept the printer.
Congrats to those of you who have hit the one and two year marks! YEA!!!!
It is always scary when we find any kind of bump or lump. I also had a scare with scar tissue within my first year. Just yesterday I went in to have a lump looked at that popped up on the palm of my left hand. My internist still isn't sure what it is, but she says she doesn't think it's cancer. I'm scheduled to see a hand surgeon the last day in December. It was 6 years for me in November and I have to admit that I was still scared when I found this lump. It's hard to completely erase the journey and fear but I find myself thinking less and less about it as time passes. I think that most of you will discover that also.
Everyone try to stay as active as possible and enjoy the Christmas season! It's one of my favorite times of year...although I might just enjoy it better in Florida. At least I've enjoyed these milder temps. I even golfed this last weekend!
Hugs...........
