Thanks guys! My needle biopsy came back negative for cancer today. Huge relief on my part, but will really feel better once I have the wire guided lumpectomy and get that mess out. Dr sounded very confident today...she took a ton of tissue and it all came back great.
I am going to use Dr Mammilito (SP?) for my wire guided lumpectomy. I hear she is one of the best in the Peoria area.

She's my surgeon. Very qualified. She's blunt but is gifted and knows what she's doing. Just follow her guidance and you'll be fine. Glad everything turned out for you. God bless!

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! Did anyone hit the black friday sales my oldest 2 had hit a lot of them and got some good deals me I stayed home maybe this coming week I may hit a few don't like big crowds I like to shop when hardly no one is in the store

My black friday was spent hanging out with family and friends. Walking through the woods (burrrrr!) in MI, chatting, reading, and eating leftovers. You couldn't drag me to those crowds. But some love the thrill of the bargain.
Ditto to the "Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving."
Yay! My vision has healed and I'm back on a different ESD. Better that than daring a recurrence.

Hi Ladies! Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I spent the holiday in Michigan, and was gone for nearly a week, so just catching up now.
Kimbr: I live in the area and Dr. Jalovec was my surgeon. My understand is both Denise Mammolito and Lynn Jalovec are equally well-respected in their field. I have never heard a bad thing about either. My PCP is on the board of the Komen Foundation (his sister died of BC at age 38) and he recommended Lynn. I trust him, so that's who I chose. Both, unfortunately, have a wait, though, so you have to be patient (pardon the pun). Annette Le-Lindqwister is my MO and I really like her. PM me if you would like further info.
Spunky: Has your DD made any decisions on college yet?
Lago: That turkey looked AMAZING!
RoulaG: I know exactly where you are coming from! We had 37 people at my aunt's house, and it was a combo of American/Lebanese food. It's back to the gym for me tomorrow!

Doxie so glad the visions is back and they found a new ESD for you.
I have yet to do a Black Friday… to be honest it scares me a little. Odd for someone who grew up shopping at the original Filenes Basement in Boston.
I'm hoping my husband makes another one of those Turkeys Christmas weekend.

Thanks, lago. I wasn't happy being off of anastrozole for so long, but I didn't want to lose my vision either. Hope exemestane doesn't cause the same SE.

Off to the Bears game-brrrr! I promised my husband I wouldn't wear my Green Bay Packer garb, but it's really cold-I may have to don my scarf at the very least.
Enjoy a sunny, but brisk, Sunday!

Spunky it is nice but you do need to bundle up since there is a breeze. I was power walking and got warm (had to loosen scarf and open puffy vest) but I still had the headband around my ears and gloves one.

Hi ladies,
Has anyone experience weakening of muscle with chemo. I'm having trouble straightening up when sitting too lone. I just turned 50 three weeks ago, but this has never happened before. I am hoping it will get better, but its been a couple weeks now. Could be the extra weight I put on, that I hope come off quickly.
Also I feel as if my hearing has been effected too.
Is this all chemo or radiation side effects?0 -
It could be. You must report these symptoms to your onc. Muscle weakness is not uncommon.
I know some folks experienced tinnitus from chemo but your symptoms might or might not be something more serious.

Graceembraced i agree with lago - report to your MO. However, I have experienced the same cumulative muscle fatigue (not on the same meds as you, though). It just got harder and harder to do the same physical things. Heartrate monitor during exercise also showed it wasn't just mental - I was working harder to do the same routine. I've only been off chemo for a week and so it's too early to report how long it takes to come back to "normal".

Grace so many things csn be "normal " with chemo but always tell u'r onc. what's going on it's better for u sometimes with certain things they can help and they do want to know everything about how u feel.
OK I'm leaving for my scan pretty soon so I actualky have to get ready--to be locked in a room. LOL

Grace, all that is being said here comes form the voices of experience and wisdom. Chemo can cause just about anything an that is what makes it devilish tricky, as it could be something else that needs attention. My husband is on chemo (not for breast cancer) and he had temporary hearing loss that was very scary. He went to the doctor and they discovered that he had some sort of weird side effect that resulted in an accumulation of ear wax. It was all drained and he his hearing was normal again. Very alarming

Hi every one has anyone ever had loss of memory while taking chemo? I have been reading up on side effects and found that some has loss of memory this is all I need i have CRS already lol
0 -
momto7 I took 500 mg Acetyl-L-Carnitine all through chemo and still take it. It's a memory booster. I have no memory loss although I don't remember names and phone numbers… but was never very good at that. Ask your onc if it's OK to take it.

FYI... just heard an NBC news teaser. The NBC Nightly News is going to have a segment on chemo brain tonight on their 530pm news time. Just thought some of you might want to tune in if you can.

Thanks lago and Joan!
Really interesting to know this i wish I knew weather or not my mom went through this she never mentioned memory loss but her cancer was Hodgkin's disease and she had chemo for a long time it seemed.
On the brighter side i got my drains out today yayyy but the BS was concerned about the fluid build up on my right side after she took out the drain it like gushed out so I am hoping next Tuesday when i see her again she will not have to put in another one or drain it with a needle i am doing arm exercises did not realize it would be hard to put my arms over my head ugh!!

Thanks for posting the link, Lago. Good to see the additional web version. Oh, just remembered that I bought some of that Acetyl-L-Carnitine. Now, if I could just remember where I put it. LOL.
Momto7... congrats on losing the drain. It is sooooo freeing to be drain free. Hope things continue to go well. I am pretty sure that they never put drains back in, but its no big deal if you have to have your doc aspirate with a needle. Just keep an eye on any swelling.

Momto7 you'll love being DrainNo. It's nice to be able to turn and not feel the sting of the drain! Keep healing!
I'm now officially a certified Reach to Recovery volunteer (ACS) and an Imerman Angel. I haven't been paired up with anyone one yet but I'm sure that will happen soon enough.
