Oh Polly! I feel your pains! Literally. All but the hot flashes. I was off arrimidex for 3 weeks and felt like a different person. The person I used to be. I'm now on Aromisin and I'm not sure what's going on.

The screen has broken off my laptop. I have to hold the screen with one hand and type with the other-pretty sure this isn't going to work for very long. Santa-are you monitoring the bco posts? I've been really good this year...new laptop?

Lago....I have worked with Reach to Recovery for severl years now and found it very rewarding. I have also met some wonderful friends through it. Glad your first encounter is going well! It's a fantastic program.
Spunky....I didn't wait for Santa. I got tired for fighting my old computer and just bought myself one for Christmas. Now I'm working on learning Windows 8. "It's not easy to teach an old dog new tricks!"
Jackie...So glad that you've been able to spend some time with your daughter. YEA!
Well, I'm off to finish my Christmas cards. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

The Chicago Tribune article is out! http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/ct-x-chemo-brain-1212-20121212,0,5247230.story?dssReturn
You have to sign up to read it, but you can sign up for free. Sorry about that. Also, the article says I cried when I realized I'd driven to the wrong place. I didn't cry, LOL. Love the liberties reporters take

Kristin! First of all, you look GREAT!!! Second, I'm glad to hear that the 'fog has lifted' for you! I wonder if that's a diffference between Tamox & the AI's(?) 'cause I am definitley still foggy in the brain! After 3 months, I stopped Anastrozole for about 3 weeks and started to feel the fog lift. Then I started Femara (Letrozole) on December 1st and I'm already feeling the fog come back!
What a crazy year it has been! I'm scheduled for my 'exchange' on Dec. 27th and hope never to see the inside of an operating room again! This will be my fifth surgery this year (not counting the core needle biopsy OR port placement - those would make it 7 procedures total but they weren't under general anesthesia) and THANKFULLY I WON"T be going under general for the exchange - I don't believe that helps my brain function either!
Glad that you could share your stroy with the Trib! Kinda makes me wonder if they also took liberties with the other woman that they interviewed from Northbrook. Regardless.., just glad to know that we're educating the public on ONE more aspect of cancer treatment! Thanks for that!

Thank you, C2!! I wish I had an answer for you about the AI's and being foggy, but I don't. And I will be thinking of you on the 27th (which is my cancerversary. I found my lump that day). I'm 4 weeks out from my exchange surgery and feeling pretty good! Hugs!

KristinFro ... thanks for sharing. Nice article and photo. C-Squared, I often wonder if Femara is leaving me in a bit of a fog. I finished chemo over two years ago and I know that I still really have to focus when on the job. And sometimes, when my DH mentions something like a movie that we "supposedly" saw when I was on chemo... well, I just don't remember it at all.
Momto7 ... good luck with your first chemo tomorrow. I think that most of us were pretty nervous the first time but then found that it was not nearly as scary as we prepared ourselves for. Here's hoping that all goes well!
Spunky... did you send a letter to Santa yet? LOL

Hang in there momto7. This is only a slight detour/time suck.
fredntan so glad you are enjoying our city. I so wish I wasn't working so I could meet you but between 9 hours at work and the 2+ hours commute round trip to Northbook that isn't going to happen. I can walk to Second City. If you're here Friday or Saturday you should check out the ZooLights. I live about 5 minutes walking distance.
Off to get ready for work.

A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.0 -
Beauty of a day here....though cold there is lots of sunshine and that solar power will get us warmed up in no time as smarty pants hubby comes in here to my office and remotely starts his vehicle so that when he goes out in a few minutes all the frost will be off it.
Hoping you all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi everyone,
I am new here. I posted a long intro on the Just Diagnosed area...so I won't repeat it here :-). I just wanted to say hello. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago, and I'm really glad this thread is here!0 -
Welcome 11momto3. So glad that you found your way to the Illinois Ladies board. We are here for you and will get you through whatever lies ahead. I read through your other post on "just diagnosed". You have had quite a trip already. But now, you have made your choices and can move forward to complete recovery. I too had imaging problems. I found a small lump myself and nothing was showing up on mammograms, etc., but the MRI finally got to the bottom of it. And I also chose to move onto a BMX just because there were other suspicious sites that I was told meant ongoing MRI's to watch. Playing that game every 6 months was just not for me... so off they went!
I am headed off to PT, maybe for the last time depending on how my visit with my spine surgeon goes tomorrow. As an added bonus, we have tickets to the Carrie Underwood concert tonight at the United Center so will spend the night in the city and head over to the clinic in the morning.
The sun is shining! Yeah. Make the most of the day.

Wow I am so impressed with the block center. Spent 5 hrs there. I have lots of homework. Going vegan.
I had such a wonderful time on chicago. Did second city on Monday. Saw. Sears tower today.omg that sky walk. Had deep dish pizza and steak. Saw field museum. Am going to find way to keep him as my doc. (Insurance issues)
Back to Virginia
Good luck momto7-i cried on my first day. But looking back it was okay. The worst side effect for me was constipation. Your hair will grow back0 -
11momto3: Welcome. This is a great group of women!
KristenFro: Great Article and you look beautiful!
Fred; Glad you had fun in Chicago. I just go back on Monday. Went to Smith and Wollensky on Sat. night. Chicago is a fun town! Both my kids live there so I have a place to stay (even though we did stay at the Omni compliments of my company).
C-Squared: I will keep you in my prayers after x-mas!

Just a quick drive by. Been busy with work. Didn't get home till 8:30… this is exactly the reason why I don't want to work in the burbs. I have no time during the week other than to eat dinner and answer a few emails before I go to bet. I haven't worked out since Monday… and did that at 7:45. There just needs to be more hours in the day. Otherwise work is going well.
11momto3 Just wanted to welcome you as well. We are here for you.

Good luck momto7. Usually the first chemo is very boring and uneventful. Bring a book, ipad or something to do. It's a long day in a chair. From what I hear, chin hair like the rest of your hair should return.
