Happy New Year to you all. Oooh, sorry, my Carolina DIL has been here for a good week. But, back to the New Year.... Don't you just wish you could just gather all the negative energy of 2012 and burn it up?

Welcome Kassylou. Glad that you found us. I grew up in a small town and sometimes I miss that lifestyle. If you seriously read ALL of this thread, I will personally drive to your house and give you a big hug. Anyway, welcome and come back often. There are lots of ladies here who are willing to share their experience and get you through whatever lies ahead.

This touched me as a continuation of a fresh, clean, new yr's start.

Recall a recent time when someone was strongly critical
of your opinions (perhaps your political or religious beliefs).
Now, put yourself in their shoes - with compassion.
Try to understand and appreciate their point-of-view -
not to change your own opinions,
but to celebrate all our human differences - in peace.

Hi to Kassie and welcome to a wonderful place.

We still have lots of white outside and seem to be hanging onto our colder temps. so we will be keeping this snow for awhile.  As has been the norm for some time......this yr./winter is for the most part hard to predict.  We will get through it.  Not really any longer used to "holding" onto a big snow.  As many might recall, last winter it was warm all winter.  Sigh !!!!  We get what we get, but at least the roads are all clear.

Hope mid-week is wonderful for all of you.

    Peace & love,

    Jackie

Jackie,  I love the quote!  Isn't it wonderful that we can "write our own book" for this year. :-)  Hopefully many of us will grab some of those opportunities and enrich our lives.

We had a great day yesterday with close friends.  We played Canasta and I hadn't played that game in years!  FUN!  Today I took down the rest of the Christmas decorations and started to rearrange my storage closet where I store my seasonal decorations.  I have a good size bag of things to take to GoodWill and I'm still not finished.  I hope to complete the project tomorrow!

It's cold here.  We have a fire going in the fireplace and I think it's time to go sit in front of it with a good book.

Hope everyone in treatment is doing well!  Hugs to all of you as we start this fresh new year.

    congrats grace on finishing rads..yeahhhhh

hope you r feeling better largo

for all you dealing with the "lack of hair" i decided to rock it out bald. bought huge, very huge earrings and newsboy caps...I think it is a fashion statement..lol that is what i am going with. wigs are so uncomfortable for me. didn't like them 11 years ago and still feel the same way. I heard Sheila Walsh say (about her waistline) if it doesn't look like you want it to ,,,,DECORATE IT!!!!!  so she has big chunky belts and stuff. I am doing the same thing with my head. Decorate it..lol make it look like this is exactly what i wanted.

    Happy new year to all.

sorry I took a break from the boards..

    I am back

Happy New Year my friends. May this year bring everything that is good, everything that is treasured, everything that is loved within your reach. After having both Christmas Eve (30) and New Years Eve (40) at my house, I am feeling incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in my life. Trying to catch up here and I was actually shocked that it was only a year an a half ago that I too was bald and had no idea what the future would bring. Enjoy each and every day. Blessings. Onward

I'm in East Peoria.  I was just diagnosed at the beginning of December with DCIS her2+ high grade.  Not sure of all the rest.  I've had 2 biopsies with 4 total areas- 2 of which are malignant.  My surgery is scheduled 1/18/13.  Can I ask who was your surgeon in Peoria?  I have Dr. Mammolito who I love!  She did two of my aunts surgeries also.  I will be having a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction.  I'm trying to figure out now which implants to have, not sure yet.  Suggestions?

Welcome. My surgeon was dr mammalito also. I went with saline. Dr Elwood is my ps. I just didn't want to risk the silicone. So far no issues. Finishing up chemo this month. Then on to rads in march. One step at a time. Sorry you are going through this. These boards are so helpful!!!

Just cause I liked it and I think there is a lot of truth in it:

jzog...Welcome to our thread.  I am from Bloomington and my surgeon was Dr. Jalovec.  I love her, too, but think that both Mammolito and her are fantastic.  You are in good hands!  I didn't have reconstruction so I can't help you there, but several of the gals on this thread will be able to help.

lago..glad the cold is getting better.

Hey Timbek.......you're almost a chemo grad!  YEAH!  When is your last chemo?  We certainly need to celebrate that!

Susan3...glad you're back.  I love your philosophy and I'm sure the big earrings and hat are adorable!  You go gal!

I have a free day all to myself so I'm going to work a bit at writing questions, catch up on some laundry and finish organizing my "seasonal/decorations closet."   I will have a great sense of accomplishment if I can get it all done today but I certainly won't get it done if I stay on here.

Catch you all later.  Bundle up if you're headed out today!

Yes Rita. Five more taxol to go!!! Treatment 12/16 today. I am so excited to be on the downhill. Really trying to stay healthy and keep my counts up so I can finish strong. Was really disappointed I can't start rads until march. Kids spring break is first week of April. My goal was to be finished by then. Still have to meet with RO so will see what he says. Think I will have 33 or 35 treatments then. Looking forward to being able to help more at my kids school. That's what I enjoy doing. Would also appreciate some hair growth. Being bald is so cold this time of year!!! Hopefully by summer. Blessings to you all. Stay warm! Chemo this afternoon. ;(

    *Waving*

Slightly belated, but I wanted to wish all of you a happy and HEALTHY 2013 - and beyond.  I do love the holidays, but they do tend to be a whirlwind.  It didn't help that we decided to do a family vacation in mid-December, returning on the 23rd and still hosting 20+ family members for Christmas!  It all worked out fine though, so no complaints.

I had my Dexa scan this week and the numbers were (relatively) good.  Still osteopenic, but slight improvement, and more importantly, no worse.  This is after being done with my Femara for 1 year, and 3 Zometa infusions.  I'm seeing my Onc for my 6 month check-up tomorrow.  Debating if I am going to get that 4th infusion, or just go with more dietary calcium and being more compliant with taking my Vit. D. Wink.

I STILL need a tattoo.  As I told my family the other day, I'm still driving with one headlight. lol.  I think that will have to be on the list of things-to-do in 2013.  "Get 3D nipple tatt!"

    Have a great day, everyone!

So glad its Friday.  The coming week is bringing  ( for what it looks like outside right now ) fairly warm temps.  Up to 40 with rain.  I think we might be losing much of, if not all of our white, thick in some places, blanket.  Can't say I'll be sorry to see it go.  Have had it for a couple of weeks.  Enough for me.  Though I love a good snow....this one is too old.....hard to wear boots as it is compacted after all this time so you don't get much on you.....but regualr shoes ( my preference ) are not good while walking on the stuff.  Anyway.....we begin over and see what we get.  Always up for a good surprise.

Hope you are all going to have a really great week-end.

    Peace & love,

    Jackie

Quick "hello" to my Illinois ladies!  Happy New Year to all - may it be filled with hope, faith, laughter, love and most of all HEALTH.

Had a great holiday...hard to believe 2 years ago I was trying to celebrate xmas while keeping my new BC diagnosis under wraps until after the holidays......this xmas was SO much better!   It is freezing here but I am surprised we still have no real snow.  Went to MI to visit family and had to delay our travel a day because they were getting blasted by 8 inches of snow there.  Keeping busy as my son does not go back to school until Monday.  I took down all the xmas stuff....it's nice to have my house back to normal.  Anyone up for a west side lunch in the coming weeks???

Welcome to all the new IL gals!  Glad you found us here - great group of ladies here.  Saying prayers for all the gals still in treatment.....this time next year you will be in a better place for sure....stay focused on that.  Hugs to all!

It's so nice and sunny out there.  I went out to get the mail and yikes!  A blast of frigid air!  Surprise.

Can't complain though, used to be that January had 2 weeks below zero every year.

Just wish I could get out in that sun and get some vitamin D. lol

jzog:  Like Ritajean says, both Mammolito and Jalovec are excellent BS.  I would have gone to either one.  I have never heard a bad thing about either.  Elwood is a great PS as well.  My PCP recommended Jalovec, so that's who I went to.  I have a lot of respect for her.  She gives me and all of her other patients the time that YOU need.  She is a very caring person and excellent surgeon.  She even called me on the night before my chemo at 9:15 to check up on me. How many surgeons do that?

Please PM me if there's anything I can do for you!

It's a great way to start the day and end the day---Gee it's been quiet here today---usually I have a lot more to read. I guess everyone is undoing all the decorations--I hat that--I love the lights outside exxpecially when it dark so early and cold--it seems to warm up the neighborhood so much---Oh well every yr. I go thru this down time.

Hope everyone has a good niht sleep and wakes up feeling well.
